New Year, New Direction (Semi-Hiatus, New Writing Goals & Barry Sloane)

‘Ello my darlings,

Today is the final day of 2023. Isn’t that mad?! Like, I could swear it was January just a few weeks before (before the whole ‘stranded in Scotland’ situation, at least).

I’m writing this beforehand because I’ll be working my day/evening job with little time off for a wee while longer. Henceforth, it should come as no surprise I’m hereby announcing a semi-hiatus. I simply do not have the time, energy, nor motivation to write and edit at the moment due to work being quite hectic.

Nevertheless, despite that being said, I do have some plans for 2024. As you perhaps already have guessed from the title and the recent CoD Captain Price & Barry Sloane lovey dovey reblogs, I want to try my hand at writing something new. I’ll still write for Tom and his characters, but I need a challenge. Or, rather, wish to take one on (to keep it polite and proper).

And, honestly, can you blame me for wanting to write for this bear of a man? Can you really?🤨

(I swear I don’t have a thing for DILFs… is the lie I’ll keep telling myself😹)

HOWEVER! How-so-bloody-fucking-ever, I also have plenty of stories for Tom Hardy in the works. Siúil a Rún, a story from Alfie’s POV in a Modern AU for example, which I hope to publish in the foreseeable future. Currently down to only having to edit two more pages!

Look, being a perfectionist with too many hobbies and a small business isn’t ideal, but it’s what we’re working with here.🤷🏻‍♀️😅

Now, this post only pertains to only part of the writing goals I’m setting for myself the coming year. Another is to publish content at least once a month. Maybe try and write a novel. Sixteen-year-old me did it, so let’s see if 25-year-old me can still do it.

I’ve been, ok… I figured out my increase in migraines was cause I was binge playing video games on the weekends like when I was a teenager. And I need less screen time in my life now. Which sucks cause I’ve been really enjoying Hollow Knight. And I feel like limiting the play time will be really hard for that game haha.

Other then that not a lot has been going on for me? Mostly hobby stuff really. Been reading more, im finally in the mood to knit again, so I started a new project today, and it’s a sweater which will mostly be in the round which is good, cause I can read on my kindle and knit at the same time that way😂.

I don’t know if you’ll enjoy them, but I found this band on Saturday and I’ve been listening to their EP a lot. It's kinda. I don't know it's hard to describe. It's jazz? electronic, jazz. with 70s vibes. and reminds me of Legend of Zelda somehow, haha. The band also wears sparkly jewl masks, and a mask is always a plus to me!!

I've also been listening to a lot of pop? I've been putting Troye Sivan on repeat again, oof. Idk why his stuff reminds me of Midwest winters.

I’ve been taking melatonin to help me sleep for years now but recently I got a dosage that’s too high. And now I’m getting wild melatonin induced dreams.

This family picked me up off the street.

I rode down from camping in Godall and grabbed lunch at the supermarket. I was eating on my bike as usual and this car pulled up next to me. In the car is a family and we start talking. They are Venezuelans living in Spain where the husband has Italian heritage. The human diaspora story is so interesting to me. I love asking the questions “How did you get here?” And people tell me their family history, migration because of some war, world event, governmental influence, economic crisis, etc. It’s living history and very interesting.

Anywho, I tell them my story and the first thing they ask me is if I want to come over and shower 😹 Do I smell that bad? There is a bike width distance between us and we’re outside 🫠 I’m kidding, I just think it’s hilarious this is always the first thing people offer me. I politely decline. I only just showered 4 days ago, I still feel clean 😺 We exchange contact information and go our separate ways

They then send me a text and invite me over again. I’ve learned if someone asks twice, then I should 99% go. Sometimes energies pull you beyond your own willpower. I ride over to their house and they welcome me into their home. They feed me and give me tea.

As a guest, I always notice when a family gives their guest the best cut or serving. The father gave up his plate for me, and I felt bad, but you literally can’t refuse food from hospitable people when you enter their home or else they’ll give you twice as much. This is one of those things where I just give up and stop fighting.

Grateful for this wholesome family who picked up a dirty, smelly, tattooed biker off the street and gave me a feeling of home.
