Is it just me or has the fear of doing something and it absolutely failing stopped you from doing anything at all? 🤔 I have spent so much time in the past agonising over whether people will like my music or if people will even listen to it. The weight of this fear just completely hindered my ability to do anything. It mainly effected me in 3 ways: 1. Every time I started to work on new music I put this pressure on myself that everything I did had to be amazing and every beat or song had to be the next massive single. 2. My enjoyment for creating would disappear and instead of creating out of a place of joy, curiosity and expression it was from a place of desperation and this gloomy sense of duty. 3. It made me start to resent music. This thing that once held so much of my sense of purpose and identity started to become repulsive and I almost gave up on everything to do with music. Learning to let go of the extremely high idea of quality and actually look at my motives for making music in the first place helped me realise what was important. I make music because I enjoy it , first and foremost and that is more than enough reason and remembering that has given me a new perspective and I am in love with music again and it is great.
