on armellin, or why you should delve into archives

With how much the spn fandom has changed and shifted over the years, there are a bunch of great creators who fall out of fashion or just general fandom consciousness and get 'lost' to the noobs. You get those 'reclist' authors that get passed around forever, but people who wrote equally great (or better!) work fall by the wayside. With art it can be worse -- tumblr's biggest benefit is that random old posts can pop up out of nowhere, but people are very rarely reccing art, or doing deep dives to find stuff that used to be popular and now gets rarely seen.

That brings us to @armellin, aka Sasha. You've probably seen some of her stuff if you're a spn fan on tumblr. She's got a particularly superb Ruby piece that just knocks me down with a feather. But there are a lot of really wonderful portraits in Sasha's archive that are just waiting for you to discover if you go into her art tag. She has some classical training, I'm pretty sure, and while her work is mostly digital you can really see all that talent in her pieces. I'll copy some particular favorites here, but you can and should go to her 'my artwork' tag and see some for yourself. The things she does with light!

A Call To Motion by @banshee1013 (art by @nickelkeep) is a delightful dancer fic from the @hoziernaturalevents mini bang! After becoming mesmerised by modern dance when passing by the studio on his way to work, Dean becomes Rowena's protege student. She tells him about an opportunity at a dance company in Kansas City, alongside Castiel Shurley, the man who's audition for the Paul Taylor Dance Company in New York inspired him to pursue his new-found passion. Cas is going through his own turmoil, having been cheated on by his former lover Ishim. With no one to dance his love inspired duet with, he's left adrift. But that all changes when Dean dances into the picture. So much great tension, camaraderie and the love inherit in a shared passion for dance. I adored it.

Mourning Doves by abstractthinking (@cascigarette) for @destielvalentinesexchange: 'The mourning dove symbolizes spirituality, hope, peace, freedom, and love. Some believe they are messages from angels.' This is a really sweet, quiet in the best way little valentine's one shot. Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, and Dean wants to make it special for Cas. He's not really gone in for Valentine's Day before, but he's ready to fully embrace the romance of the occasion. Cas is somewhat befuddled by the need to manufacture romance, when their lives are already inherently romantic when in each other's company. Together they find a gentle balance of appreciation.

We Are Either Here Or Not Here by @hufflepuffdean (art by @armellin) is a 2017 @deancasbigbang fic post-12x23, in which Mary brings an AU!Cas back to a mourning Dean. Castiel is stubborn, judgmental, infuriating - and the best shot Dean has at getting Cas back. The conversations start as Dean’s last hope, but they soon turn into his version of catharsis. When Cas does find his way back, he comes along with stories of his own. I love the way this fic takes a possible spin on season 13 canon, leaning into the ensemble cast, and through it all keeping such a wonderful thread of yearning between Dean and Cas as they set out on a journey to forgive and better understand each other, between the universes.

The Day in the Palm of Our Hands by tabaqui - A DeanVictor fic! I'm normally a total otp fic girlie, but I love the possibilities inherent in Dean and Victor Henriksen's early seasons storyline dynamics, and what could have been had we got to keep him. Their chemistry is so great. So here's that story. Victor can't shake the supernatural world, and turns to Dean and Sam to learn hunter 101. Along the way his and Dean's heated eye contact trips into something more. A lovely glimpse at a possible canon timeline divergence circa season 3.

Controlli di Natale da parte dei Carabinieri NAS a Roma: sequestrate 39 tonnellate di dolci tipici

Controlli di Natale da parte dei Carabinieri NAS a Roma: sequestrate 39 tonnellate di dolci tipici. Roma. Il Comando Carabinieri per la Tutela della Salute, di concerto con il Ministero della Salute, ha intensificato i controlli sui prodotti dolciari tipici che arricchiranno in modo significativo le tavole in occasione delle imminenti Festività natalizie. Gli accertamenti, estesi a livello nazionale a tutte le fasi di produzione, distribuzione e vendita al dettaglio, sia a livello artigianale che industriale, hanno consentito di ispezionare circa 1.000 imprese, rilevando irregolarità presso 382 strutture (pari al 38% degli obiettivi controllati) e portando alla contestazione di oltre 585 violazioni penali ed amministrative, per un ammontare di oltre 423 mila euro di sanzioni pecuniarie. Nel corso delle verifiche sono state individuate e sequestrate 39 tonnellate di prodotti dolciari e materie prime, poiché detenute in cattivo stato di conservazione o in locali interessati da gravi carenze igienico strutturali, invase da parassiti, prive di tracciabilità e oggetto di frode in commercio. Tra gli interventi, il NAS di Bologna ha sequestrato 24 tonnellate di frutta secca contaminata da micotossine, sostanze di origine fungina pericolose per la salute. Inoltre sono stati sottratti al consumo oltre 500 tra panettoni, pandori e altri a dolci natalizi tipici anche regionali, in parte di produzione industriale ma commercializzati come artigianali, in parte con ingredienti diversi per qualità ed origine rispetto a quanto dichiarato in etichetta. A seguito degli illeciti individuati, i NAS hanno deferito all’Autorità giudiziaria 18 gestori e titolari di attività imprenditoriali per l’ipotesi di frode in commercio e detenzione di prodotti dolciari in cattivo stato di conservazione, nonché ulteriori 342 sanzionati per carenze dei laboratori di pasticceria e mancata applicazione della tracciabilità e delle procedure preventive di sicurezza alimentare. Gli esiti ispettivi hanno altresì portato all’emissione di 27 provvedimenti di chiusura / sospensione di attività di produzione e vendita, per un valore economico pari ad oltre 8 milioni di euro. Tra le situazioni più significative accertate dai NAS si evidenziano: Nas Catania, (pdc 06-59944345) Deferito il titolare di un laboratorio dolciario della provincia di Catania per l’impiego di materie prime e semilavorati congelati arbitrariamente ed in cattivo stato di conservazione, detenuti in ambienti con gravi carenze igienico-sanitarie, presenza di carcasse di insetti e di esalazioni nocive dovute al cattivo funzionamento dell’impianto fognario. Sottoposta a sequestro l’intera attività produttiva comprensiva di 1.700 kg di prodotti finiti, ritenuti non idonei al consumo umano, per un valore complessivo di 530.000 euro. Presso uno stabilimento alimentare della medesima provincia, sono stati rinvenuti, in fase di lavorazione, oltre 2 tonnellate di prodotti semilavorati di origine vegetale e pistacchio in guscio, di provenienza extracomunitaria, invasi da parassiti. Nas Viterbo, (pdc 06-59944346) Deferita per frode in commercio la titolare di un panificio della provincia di Viterbo per avere detenuto, per la successiva vendita al pubblico, panettoni di produzione industriale presentandoli, in etichetta, come artigianali. Nel corso dell’ispezione sono stati sequestrati complessivi kg 70 di prodotti. Nas Brescia, (pdc 06-59944317) Presso una pasticceria della provincia di Bergamo, sono stati sequestrati 36 pandori rinvenuti esposti alla vendita come “artigianali - di produzione propria”, in realtà acquistati da altro produttore. Nas Bologna, (pdc 06-59944329) A seguito dell’ispezione eseguita presso uno stabilimento di lavorazione e confezionamento di materie prime dolciarie, in particolare frutta a guscio, della provincia di Ravenna, sono stati rinvenuti 24.000 kg di armelline sgusciate, di provenienza extra-UE, non conformi per la presenza di aflatossine superiori ai limiti di legge, stoccate in promiscuità con altre materie prime idonee al consumo e senza indicazioni circa il divieto di impiego. Nas Palermo, (pdc 06-59944333) A seguito dei controlli effettuati presso 4 pasticcerie e 2 aziende di prodotti dolciari, dislocate tra le provincie di Trapani, Palermo ed Agrigento, sono stati sequestrati complessivamente 260 panettoni e 400 vasetti di crema di pistacchio/mandorle, privi di tracciabilità e con riferimento ad ingredienti a base di pistacchi, mandorle e agrumi di Sicilia, in realtà provenienti da altre regioni o dall’estero. Nas Roma, (pdc 06-59947111) Deferito in stato di libertà il legale responsabile di un bar-pasticceria della provincia di Roma per aver posto in vendita prodotti dolciari natalizi semifreddi (torte e cassate) di produzione industriale artatamente etichettate e dichiarate come prodotto gastronomico artigianale, al fine di trarre in inganno gli acquirenti ed ottenere un illecito profitto. Sequestrati 6 kg di semifreddi. Nas Latina, (pdc 06-59944335) Individuato, a Latina, un laboratorio di produzione dolciaria, attivato al piano terra di uno stabile di civile abitazione, apparentemente in stato di abbandono in quanto privo di insegna e con saracinesche chiuse. Una mole di colombe 2023 a Torino

Il 25 e il 26 marzo è il weekend della quinta edizione di Una Mole di Colombe dove, nelle sale dell’Hotel Principi di Piemonte, a Torino, oltre 150 colombe tradizionali e creative saranno presentate da 25 maestri pasticceri e fornai. Anche per questa edizione la società organizzatrice Dettagli Eventi ha selezionato gli artigiani che rispettano le regole di qualità, come l’utilizzo di lievito madre e l’esclusione di conservanti, emulsionanti, additivi chimici, aromi artificiali e semilavorati. Provenienti da tutte le regioni d’Italia, i maestri del lievito madre si sfideranno su due versioni del tradizionale dolce della Pasqua. La colomba classica, con ingredienti e procedure esclusivamente artigianali, verrà presentata anche in modi creativo, ideato da ogni Maestro pasticcere esaltando l’identità e i prodotti dei territori di provenienza. Quest’anno, il pubblico avrà l’occasione di scoprire il mondo dell’alta pasticceria italiana, tra protagonisti, innovazioni, ma anche abbinamenti. Infatti le Degustazioni guidate experience, completamente gratuite per il pubblico e su prenotazione, saranno condotte da una Sommelier professionista, un Produttore di vino e dai Maestri pasticceri per offrire il perfetto calice di vino in abbinamento alle colombe. Come sempre la kermesse sposa anche una buona causa, infatti 1 Caffè Onlus sarà presente con un servizio di Bar solidale, grazie alla collaborazione con Bialetti e Acqua Valmora. Inoltre il pubblico potrà degustare e acquistare al prezzo speciale di 30€ al Kg l’elegante protagonista dei dolci di Pasqua, nelle preparazioni classiche con glassa, granella di zucchero, mandorle o nocciole armelline e in quelle dai ripieni più creativi. Il mercato della colomba artigianale quest’anno è cresciuto del 10%, conquistando sempre nuovi estimatori e la Confederazione Pasticceri Italiani, Conpait, ritiene che sia dovuta alla grande  curiosità dei consumatori per la versione creativa del dolce della Pasqua. Ruby, by @armellin. (I would actually post the pic but I think that's considered gauche; pleeeeeeease click and go and look at it.) The attitude is just right. First of all it's a fantastic depiction of Genevieve's face, but what makes it special is how she's got that knowing edge of a smirk -- she's playing us, but she's looking pensively away as though she can hide it. The crown is just the cherry on top. Love that shit. (Sasha, if you ever wanted to do spn art again we'd all be so grateful!)
