So there’s this fanzine…
Go pick it up! This is just a little title sample of my piece, and there’s SO much good art to be found in this OFMD zine. So many unbelievably talented artists and writers, and some truly killer interviews from behind the scenes folks and the actors, just a total blast.

And that's a wrap for Replaceable Parts But With Boys! But stick around, there's more to come for this bonus zine! Some personal context, if I may: I had an orchiectomy early on in the making of the main story, which informed a lot of my thoughts on joyful dismemberment. In the later stages of production and the early stages of Boys, I faced some drawbacks of an all-estrogen build. After some prolonged medical fuckery I finally got prescribed T a month ago, which has done wonders for balancing me out. But With Boys is a lot of things: tongue-in-cheek omake, another loop of samsara, a different lens on gendered violence, a home for ideas that didn't make the first round. But it's also an homage to the trans men I love, and a record of re-embracing masculinity on my own terms. One of T's best effects has been making me much less angsty about gender overall, caring much less about public perception or what I Truly Am Inside. I like clothes that accentuate my tits and ass! I like my neutered dick! I like gay bathhouses! I love weird awful horny gay art across the board, and I humbly submit this to The Canon. May Beefcake Anubis weigh it fairly.

Saw your rb about asking for punk bands; I'm not suuuper involved in the community (my town doesn't really have a present punk scene and I've not had the luck to find great online punk communities unfortunately) so a lot of the punk bands I listen to are either local or queercore punk bands specifically. Tbh tho, I think trying to look for "well know" / staple bands is the wring approach to the subculture, since often when a band becomes too popular they often lose their messaging in favor of marketability (ie: the question of whether Green Day is still punk or not). If a band is advocating for punk values in their work, they're generally punk imo
HOWEVER, I love giving music recs so here are some bands!!!
1) Dog Park Dissidents - My favorite, I really vibe with their messaging and their music personally. Also, banger cover of Toxic
2) Pansy Division - this is probably the most famous queercore band, they're not my favorite but I really like "Fem in a Black Leather Jacket" and "Blame the Bible"
3) Worriers - they're not as classic punk in the music style but they do have that gender fuckery enby swag
4) Pure Hell - long story short, found them in a punk zine in my school's archive, searched them up on spotify and I vibed w it. They're def more classic punk, like loud heavy drums and all
5) Partner - another queercore band, this one is for the wlw. They also lean a bit pop punk vs more classic punk but it's really good driving music for me
6) Dream Nails- they're very riot grrrl, I like "Corporate Realness" and "Swimming Pool"
Enjoy, and sorry for the very long ask LOL
no, it’s fine! thank you for the recommendations, i will for sure look into them!
(also i’m totally not nerding out rn bc i absolutely love ur art no i’m totally normal rn)

Actually also also I’m still so angry that the mods of the art of fuckery zine got harassed by izzy fans for daring to include an izzy analysis that wasn’t glowing praise of him. It was literally the most basic analysis of the show pointing out how toxic masculinity has influenced izzy and how he treats people (and toxic masculinity is literally the theme of the show) iirc. And then izzy fans dogpiled the mods for daring to include it cause “izzy fans get harassed for liking him and this will just encourage more” and “why did none of the other characters have criticism written about them??? Clearly this is an attack on izzy fans”. Idk if they harassed the writer of the analysis too but it was still awful. I saw people talking about how they were gonna glue the pages of their zine together so they didn’t have to look at *checks notes* an analysis of Izzy’s canon actions in the show!??
And then izzy fans tried to paint themselves as the wholesome and kindest and most mature part of the fandom and I never fucking bought it and I was right to cause look how they harassed David Jenkins! People will say “oooh people are allowed to criticise shows that’s not harassment!!” But it straight up was!!! People were qrting him telling him he was disgusting and that he should be ashamed of himself. Calling him homophobic and ableist and saying that he was implying suicidal people deserve to die!!! That’s not criticism!!! You just wanted an excuse to be nasty!!!!

ALSO 1, 3, 5, 7, 14, 16, 27, 28, 30 for the artist asks? :)
1. Art programs you have but don't use
mmm krita and... well I have the entire adobe creative cloud at my disposal but I just. don't. honestly nowadays I've been doing a lot of my stuff traditional with just like. my sketchbook and my favorite pen but for digital I will use csp.
3. What ideas come from when you were little
...so I had this character. Merivette. right. she is like. the archetype for most of my focus characters for most of my stories and her original thing was that she was an scp doctor that did dimension fuckery (like 507) but then she just became like. idk she became part of the vivienne character archive mythos ig
5. Estimate of how much of your art you post online vs. the art you keep for yourself
OMYGOPD FUCKING. I'd say a good 70-80% I don't post ??? maybe upto 90-95% ??? that'll probs drop down to like. 35-50% if I start learning how to use insta but since I can't exactly work easily at fucking school I barely post stuff I would think looks good enough for my tumblr. ye I mentioned insta but that is specifically gonna be like. doodle dump
7. A medium of art you don't work in but appreciate
FIBER ARTS!! fiber arts, 3d modelling and traditional painting. god. what I would give to have skills and knowhow for 3d modelling. this is reminding me to get back into bookbinding and scrap booking sajosdf
14. Any favorite motifs
... stars. I mean obviously with my current brainrot being like. about the skies and the stars and the things beyond and b elow the earth of course stars. eyes too ig but like. kind of a given
16. Something you are good at but don't really have fun doing
landscapes and comics. comics I can't will myself to drawing something over and over and having to make it look decently polished. landscapes I just fret over the details too much. getting more used to comics and the likes specifically cause. yknow. I wanna make animatics
27. Do you warm up before getting to the good stuff? If so, what is it you draw to warm up with
OKAY SO I love just. doodling random shapes as warm up. and then also I will like. doodle a bunch of stuff related to said character on a separate page and maybe some small doodles of the character. specifically for the shapes I'll do different directions of hatching for them and in areas where shapes intersect I'll make it kinda like a cross hatching thing
28. Any art events you have participated in the past (like zines)
uhhh not really ? They're usually around the time I get burnt out or am buusy. like you know I tried artfight but that literally started around the same time as my school year. and then the school is also hosting a zine but they started it during fucking hell week so they extended the deadline but I do not have any full illustrations at the ready so maybe like. next year or maybe I rush something up idk
30. What piece of yours do you think is underrated
with all the art I am currently proud of rn I think just the character design refs that I have up for asotfs. you can see a change in how I draw in the ones I have but I like them. I do not post art often .w.

hey guys, i’m hoping aboard the 2017 ao3 stats train like a ton of other people stealing this from @extranikiforov and @n3rdlif343va mwahaha because why not!
but first, i just want to say that while 2017 has kicked my ass in a lot of ways, it also brought me further into a fandom that i’ve totally fallen in love with, and closer to people who are truly an incredible bunch, and for that i am very thankful. writing for yuri on ice has brought me a unique kind of joy i’ve never experienced in a fandom simply because yuri on ice has given us so much in the way of canon content (canon queers! canon queer engagement! characters who are my age! canon gender fuckery!). how blessed are we.
in any case, im choosing to post this on my main blog instead of my writing blog @trumpet-geek because i think a lot of my meaningful interactions have happened here as opposed to the writing blog which is just where i dump my updates. i hope no one minds!
anyway -
Tumblr media
let me just say this is significantly more than the last couple of years and i’m both shocked and thankful to everyone who has ever touched one of my works, whether it’s on ao3 or on tumblr or both. <3
now for a short list of the things i’ve written this year, in the hopes that it will remind me to write even more in 2018 (and because self-promotion lol WHOO HOO):
ace of diamond
you are unstoppable - miyusawa yoi au, wip, for @rynyn He hears Wakana gasp -the noise echoes through the rink, silent but for the scrape of his blades against the ice and the sound of his measured breaths. She recognizes the routine.
yuri on ice
an ever-fixed mark - viktuuri wedding fic, nsfw Yuuri is absolutely gorgeous. Viktor could write poems about the soft pink that paints his cheeks and nose. He could pen lyrics about the slope of Yuuri’s smile and the way he bites his lip to try to keep the laughter inside. The sparkle in Yuuri’s eyes would be enough to give hope to even the most lovelorn soul. The warmth of Yuuri’s body pressed against his and the bubbling heat of the feelings he induces in Viktor would be more than enough protection from even the harshest of Russian winters. Yuuri laughs again and ducks his head, embarrassed, and Viktor covers his mouth with his hand because he thinks he may have said some of that out loud. Oops.
the stars are fire - viktuuri 5+1 fic, nsfw His coach uses his grip on Yuuri’s hips to twist him just so, gracefully manhandling him into the correct position – and Yuuri shivers, and it’s not the fingers on his skin or the heat in Viktor’s gaze that has him worked up – and then he’s in the air, blades almost a meter off the surface of the ice like it’s nothing. Like there’s no mass to Yuuri at all. Like Viktor could do this all day and not get tired of holding Yuuri up. And then it’s over. And then Viktor is slowly, slowly lowering him back down – and Yuuri can feel him all the way down his body, can feel the shake in his arms and the press of his thighs as he goes, and his head is so full of Viktor he feels fit to burst – and – he – Yuuko walks in and shrieks at the sight of them pressed so intimately against each other, and before Yuuri knows it they’re meters apart and he can’t meet Viktor’s eyes for hours afterward.
i was yours before i knew (and you have always been mine too) - viktuuri florist au, wip, written for @yurionicebigbang in partnership with @rynyn (her art is here), nsfw “Ah, I’m sorry, let me –” Viktor looks up.Viktor stares. “Oh, wow,” he breathes. He’s wearing an ugly green apron with smears of dirt and wet patches, a pair of dirty jeans, and a very alluring light pink blush. His black hair sticks up on the side and his glasses sit askew on his face, probably a result of Makkachin’s exuberant kisses. He looks about as dazed as Viktor feels.
the fire that purifies the metals - viktuuri clothing kink fic, for @rynyn, nsfw “Really? You really couldn’t stop yourself from laughing about the word ‘hard’? Are you twelve?” “I really hope not,” Viktor responds, “considering the things I want to do to you later tonight.” His husband sends him a pointed look, mouth turned down in a frown but eyes sparkling and playful. He reaches out to tangle his fingers into the lapels of Viktor’s exhibition costume, his hands warm through the layers, and then he yanks, and Viktor goes stumbling into him with a gasp. “I think you meant what I want to do to you later tonight,” Yuuri says softly. He presses their foreheads together for a moment and then turns around and starts walking, leaving Viktor to stare after him. “Wow,” he breathes, and then scrambles to catch up.
to be with those i like is enough - phichit & yuuri friendship with background viktuuri, written for @yoiholidaysonice for my giftee estelraca He’s seen pictures, of course, thanks to having been Yuuri’s roommate and therefore having been subjected to Yuuri’s near-obsession with Viktor. He thought he was intimately familiar with how looming and industrial and spartan the architecture feels, and how prettily the early morning sun filters through the expanse of windows and lights the ice with cotton candy colors from the photo shoots for Viktor’s interviews and Team Russia’s promo for the Olympics. It’s nothing compared to seeing it in real life.
and an unrevealed mystery work for @victurigiftexchange which will inevitably count toward 2018′s stats because we can’t post it yet lol
yuri on ice drabbles/requests
we were together; i forget the rest - viktuuri drabble collection It’s in the moments between sleeping and waking, when he becomes conscious of Yuuri in his bed and in his arms -soft moments just before sunrise when he can hold out his hand and admire the way the gold creates shadows on his skin.
bug bites and sky lanterns - viktuuri with phichit & yuuri friendship festival drabble
yoi request/ficlet tag for more yoi goodness
yuri on ice zines
preview for @yuurizine, which is still in preorders!
i’m also involved in @yoi-yuuri-zine, @phichitzine, @eatskatelovezine, @yoichasinggoldzine, and @heartbeatszine so please keep an eye out!
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR A GREAT 2017!!!

Hyperallergic: A Gallery in a Truck Fuels Up on Anti-Patriarchal Art
Gas Gallery parked at Los Angeles’s Night Gallery (all photos by the author for Hyperallergic)
LOS ANGELES — If Donald Trump’s presidency has done anything at all for the arts, it has inspired a whole new genre of work specifically opposed to him and everything for which his administration stands. Los Angeles’s most recent installation of anti-Trump (and thus anti-patriarchal) art made its debut in Night Gallery’s parking lot.
Gas, a traveling gallery inside of a step truck, stopped at Night Gallery in September to show off its inaugural exhibition, Fuck the Patriarchy . The temporally and spatially challenging group show simultaneously rejects the confines of a conventional gallery space and the United States’ current entanglement with fascism.
The interior of Gas
Inspired by sociologist Theodor Adorno’s Authoritarian Personalities — a book which expounds upon the US’s fascist tendencies — and Michel Foucault’s theoretical work on utopia and the sensory body, the show features the work of 10 artists and collectives all striving to answer one central question: What does refusal — of the Trump administration, patriarchy, white supremacy, capitalism, fascism, social convention, or just complacency — look like?
The exhibition derives its name, appropriately, from a bumper sticker created by Roy Martinez and bearing the same activist phrase. It includes a range of specifically anti-fascist works, from the writings of feminist witch group the Yerbamala Collective, to Angélica Maria Millán Lozano’s floral fabrics adorned with rose thorns and Ana Roldán’s snake-like light sculptures. It even continues online in the form of anti-fascist video makeup tutorials by Dynasty Handbag. Each piece plays with, embodies, and refutes the articulations of a fascist United States.
One of Yerbamala Collective’s protest signs
From the outside, the small black truck decked out in protest signage looks like it could blend inconspicuously into the traffic of any left-leaning metropolis. The front windows are covered by Paul Chan and Badlands Unlimited’s “New Proverbs,” appropriated Westboro Baptist church posters that are staunchly, comically anti-Trump. On the back door and windows hang excerpts from Yerbamala Collective’s anonymous, authorless zine, Our Vendetta: Witches vs Fascists. One sign bluntly reads, “FASCISM IS HATE FEAR FUCKERY / WE REFUSE THIS WEAK ASS SHIT,” rendered in the collective’s signature large, all-caps, black Arial typeface.
There is only room enough for two or three people to peruse Gas’s interior at any one time, but this rather intimate experience creates space for private reflection. On one wall sits Lauren Satlowski’s “For Protection,” a sculpted dagger, marked by the impressions of a hand’s strong grip, with a golden cherubic figure dancing just above the handle, and white painted flowers scattered about its surface of gold and pink marbled paint. Satlowski’s dagger is decidedly a feminine object, a weapon, and a symbol of women’s defense against masculine aggression.
Lauren Satlowski’s “For Protection” dagger sculpture
Further in are Angélica Maria Millán Lozano’s Espinas, distressed fabrics reinforced with rose thorns that represent a similar sentiment of defiance by Latina women. The thorns, unlike the roses from which they came, remain taut, prickly, ready to nip at your skin. Both Satlowski’s and Lozano’s works serve as a reminder of the ever-present threat of patriarchal aggression and, moreover, as a warning to those who may try to hurt us. We artist and activists, the sculptures seem to say, will fight back.
Ana Roldán’s coiling light installation
Central to the theme of the exhibition are Foucault’s writings on the relationship between the body and utopia. Almost all of the works in Fuck the Patriarchy — from stockings by Hanan Sharifa that read “Trust No Man” and hang from the truck’s door and the colorful, interlocking circles on Cristina Victor’s “100 Days of Action Resistance Flag,” to the fabrics, lights, zine, dagger, and clownish antifa makeup tutorials — are objects that, in some sense, amount to a political life and body. Together, these works have the capacity to nourish and arm us against the current political regime.
Likewise, in Adorno’s Authoritarian Personalities, which examines the characteristics of the “potential fascist,” he finds that the “potential antifascist” — who emerges only in response to the fascist’s presence — does not “constitute any single pattern.” That is, in the current face of neo-Nazi activity, anti-fascist work can manifest in any number of forms, whether it be punching Richard Spencer in the face, tearing down Confederate statues, protesting in the streets, or — in the case of this exhibition — casting spells and breaking down all convention. However, one quality seems to unite all “antifa art”: it can serve a utilitarian purpose through acts of artful resistance.
Despite its overarching motifs of functionality and political resistance, Fuck the Patriarchy is a disjointed exhibition. The scope of many of the works spans far beyond the tiny truck moving through Los Angeles, whether via Yerbamala Collective’s zines — which traverse the internet, subway cars, and appear on protest placards — or Dynasty Handbag’s tutorial, filmed days after the 2016 election, which has a life of its own online. In many ways, the show crystallizes the terms of a specific genre — antifa art — that uses the language of dissent as its medium and resistance as its raison d’être. This approach to art is perhaps best incapsulated by a citation-less quote featured on one of the Yerbamala Collective signs: “THIS IS NOT A TIME FOR DISBELIEF / A TIME TO REMAKE THE IMPOSSIBLE.”
One of Angélica Maria Millán Lozano’s Espinas works in distressed, tattered floral fabrics
Fuck the Patriarchy continues at Gas through November 18. To find out where in Los Angeles Gas is parked, check its Twitter page.
