**Read Full Post** On more than a few occasions I’ve been asked how I photograph my paintings. What camera do I use, what type of lighting, etc. I don’t do many “how to” posts, but I thought I’d make one to answer those questions. My secret for photographing paintings is… nothing. I hang the painting on my dining room wall, turn the dining room light on, and snap pics with my iPhone. I do have a not so well kept secret though- I use an app called Snapseed that makes my photos look like I have lots of equipment. I chose that app because it’s free and really easy to use. There’s other apps that do the same thing, but I’m comfortable with Snapseed. On the left is a finished pic of my painting “Mary Annette Gallery” and on the right is the original picture unaltered. As you can see, the app allows me to make many changes and bring out a true representation of the artwork. Fair warning, I watched many YouTube tutorials on Snapseed to do what do, but honestly, it’s not difficult. Hope that helps!
