Chrysalid Gallery is a dynamic cocoon aiming at transforming the canons around contemporary art and its market. It’s a conceptual and experimental gallery based in Rotterdam (the Netherlands) that actively promotes and collaborates with young and daring artists from all over Europe.

¿Coleccionista típico?

Navengado en la red, podemos encontrar una gran cantidad de información sobre el coleccionismo, galerías de arte y asesores. Pero… ¿quiénes son los coleccionistas? ¿Les conocemos? Generalmente los identificamos como ricos, famosos multimillonarios, grandes empresarios, personalidades con influencia institucional, poseedores de galerías de arte y que generosamente depositan algunas de sus obras en museos por “suerte” del espectador.

Pero, ¿realmente es necesario ser RICO para coleccionar ARTE?

La revista digital ArtNet News (propia de la galería de arte digital ArtNet) publicó el pasado 18 de abril un artículo sobre Christian Kaspar Schwarm, un consultor de estrategia creativa y empresario con sede en Berlín, de 46 años de edad, invitado de honor en Art Cologne, donde recibió el premio anual de coleccionista de la feria. Schwarm es muy rotundo en sus declaraciones: “No tienes que ser rico”, “tenemos en mente esta imagen de un coleccionista 'típico'. Pero este grupo suele ser de unas cinco o diez personas por país”, "ninguna galería y ningún artista podrían sobrevivir con solo estos coleccionistas que apoyan su arte”. 

Esta es la declaración de intenciones de cómo un joven empresario alemán está rompiendo el mito del coleccionista de arte “típico”.
