Thought I'd also share my emotions on here cuz I went through a similar thing within the fandom space

I appreciate all the love and support you guys have given me. But I don't do well with attention tbh 😭

So many people always tell me "your art deserves more attention!" But I don't. I get enough of it.

I enjoy interacting with you guys. I love seeing your thoughts and opinions on my art and that's the most important part of me sharing my work.

I have said this before but I never expected people to have the reaction they did to my comic. Down the Rabbit Hole is so dear to me and seeing how much people enjoy it means so much to me. There's nothing more I want than for this comic to grow and improve and continue to expand on it. Including the fanbase in it is so much fun and I wanna find more ways to continue doing that 🥰

I'm not a great writer and I appreciate that some people in the fanbase offered to help me with writing! I'm looking into collabing with some writers in the future and some even offered to help me with making DTRH a small game. All things I will be considering in the future :D

A lot of you have said very nice things about my version of David and I appreciate it sm 😭 he's my silly little son who I love and adore with all my heart. And I'm really glad you guys like my ideas and portrayal of his character... It's honestly THE highest honor.

Anyway what I'm trying to say is I'm very grateful for all your support 🥰 and your kind and sweet comments that make my day!!!

The bigger I get, the more lonely I feel... But having you guys, people I regularly interact with, my friends. It makes the world shrink to a comfortable size. You're the reason I do what I do and why I enjoy it as much as I do.

DTRH is back, baby! And it's covering Boatmurdered!

Boatmurdered was a Dwarf Fortress succession game hosted on the SomethingAwful forums that has gone down in internet history for how the titular in-game colony completely spiraled out of control as a combined result of both the players' decisions as well as the game's ludicrously complex simulation systems.

If this is your first time hearing about the legend of Boatmurdered, there's no better time like the present to get acquainted.

overall I think the philosophical ideas developed were really intriguing and SCAji is obviously very smart and creative. I am interested in reading Wittgenstein and I feel like in concept the End Sky II ending should've made me mad in the "it was all a dream" type deal but the way it was pulled off with Ayana and DTRH I/II and inner/outerworld etc etc; it's a nice commentary of sorts on narratology and what "storytelling" means and I really loved it as an ending. all that being said, it is very unfortunate SCAji can't write to save his fucking life and reading it was excruciating because I dont think he can genuinely write well. at all

About Last Week...

So I debated for a while whether or not I was going to actually make this post, but I feel like my disappointment and annoyance needed to be a little explained.

Yes, I realize it was supposed to be a Callen-heavy episode, and knowing that the topic needed to be resolved I was not against that.

The thing that upset me more about the episode is the way it was executed, mostly writing-wise. And to be honest, I don't even know anymore how much that is the fault of our writers, and how much their hands are actually tied with scheduling and the episode appearance limitations.

A lot of my thoughts are similar to the ones I had post-Down the Rabbit Hole. The first thing I learned in my TV writing class, is your main cast should always be at the forefront, don't use guest stars to do the job of your mains. (I am STILL angry at DTRH for how anti-climactic that entire multi-season arc ended cuz Joelle just shot Katya with zero tension when no one was around)

It feels like it was written a bit generically like they weren't sure which actors would be there for the episode. Like, change the sniping analysis to the aftermath of a bomb, and most all of Kensi's role in the ep could have been Sam. When they have done this, I feel we lose the voice that has made each character special to us over the years. (Granted, this has been an issue all season, not just this last episode)

Back to The Reckoning. I loved the scenes in the mission with Fatima and Kilbride and our awesome office team (I loved them, but why are our main peeps not saving the day?!), but even when our baddie was holding guns on them, there was a lack of tension in the situation. Too much talking/explaining versus actually making me worry something might go awry! I guess I just miss the higher-stakes episodes of seasons past?! 🤷‍♀️

And on the topic of too-much-explaining, which again, has been a bit of an issue all season, onto the last scene. I was not a fan of Pembrook explaining Hetty's actions as he's just this third party who we really have no reason to trust. Obviously, a better way to end this plotline would have been an actual conversation with Hetty, so since Linda has not been able/available, I understand they had to figure out another way to do it. But I feel like in this case, even a letter from Hetty would have been a better choice for explaining her own reasonings. Or, they could have had Callen open that "only open when I'm dead" packet from Season 3... I'm sure there's plenty of newer stuff added to it by now.

Basically, I'm just frustrated at the effect the reduced episode counts for actors has had on the show as a whole. I think I'd have rather had only 18 episodes with everyone vs what we've got. It also worries me GREATLY for network television going forward, because it seems like at least CBS seems to be pushing this model on a lot of other shows as well. And that's after we hopefully push through this writer's strike (and whatever happens with the next two negotiation sessions too (actors/directors also have contracts up this summer).

The Magician chapter of DTRH did so well, like way better than I expected especially on twitter and I'm gonna fucking cry

I know I'm always so sappy but I'm just not used to seeing those kinda numbers on my work. Idk how to react other than to say thank u, especially for supporting DTRH cuz this is such a passion project for me. I'm glad I'm able to have this sort of reach and introduce new people to Rusty Lake while also giving the people in the fanbase something fun to read through or view.

I seriously did not anticipate this comic growing into what it is now and it being enjoyed by both the fanbase and people who just like to see David and Dale interact even without the context of the game

There's so much I wanna explore still and I keep getting suggestions from people in the fanbase about what they wanna see too and I hope I can keep on making something that you feel is worth looking forward to 💜💜💜

She had her alarm set up for an early wake up call.

It was January 24th, it was Dean’s birthday.

She made him his favorite pie, his favorite supper prepped, she just made all of his favorites.

But it was time for his breakfast in bed.

She made him the heartiest breakfast, eggs over easy, pancakes and a lot of bacon. She even brewed him fresh coffee.

She walked down to Dean’s room with the tray with his birthday breakfast.

She opened his door, seeing him lay on his back.

He looked so peaceful in his sleep.

She wanted to show her man some special love. It is his birthday after all.

She sits his tray on his desk. And walks over to one side of the bed. Her heart welled up at the sight of him sleeping. If she thought she fell hard in love with him, she was mistaken. She fell, really hard. Face first on the concrete floor kind of hard.

She brushes her hand lightly through the long strands of his dirty blonde hair. Darkened over the years, almost full-on brown.

He moaned, leaning into her hand.

He sleepily opened his eyes, giving her a loving yet sleepy smile.

“Mornin’.” He says groggily.

“Morning birthday boy.” She says softly. Kissing him on the cheek. Guiding her kisses down his jaw to his neck. She hears him hum when she reaches his pulse point, giving it light love bites.

“I made you breakfast.” She says, pulling away. A wide grin on her face.

Why not tease him? She thought.

“Really?” he asks playfully. Oh yeah, she’s going to love teasing him.

“Yep, this may be your best birthday yet. I have the whole day planned out for you.”

“If it’s teasing, I’m so going to get you back on your birthday sweetheart.”

“No, I swear.” She says playfully.

She gets up to get his breakfast tray.

“Oh, breakfast in bed.”

“Yep, I have your supper planned, and dessert. There’s even a second dessert.”

“Oh, I can’t wait.”

 “Oh god.” She moans, gripping the headboard behind her.

His tongue worked her up so high she thought she would die.

He notices she fell back asleep and he puts his daughter back into her crib and heads back to bed himself. Not before giving his wife a kiss to her temple.

“Happy birthday baby.” He whispers near her ear.

He got himself settled in, wrapping his arms around her bringing her into him. She snuggles into his chest with a content hum.

Dtrh- do you think wirt and ghostwriter would get along

If Wirt didn’t know the Ghostwriter was a ghost when he first met him, he’d think he was a bit weird (like everyone else Wirt knows) but harmless and get along pretty well. Wirt’s interested in poetry, and I nudged him towards fiction in general in this fic as well, so I very much think writing is something he’d do in his spare time, though he probably wouldn’t show it to anyone. 

If he met the Ghostwriter knowing he was a ghost, it would take longer for Wirt to warm up to him, especially if Danny’s around to make some comment about what happened to him one Christmas. I do think a mutual love of books and writing would be enough to build a tentative friendship, though. They can bond over a lack of rhymes for orange. *grins*

What’s the deal with Down the Rabbit Hole?

aka where’s chapter 28??????

So after having taken a month off there’ve been some changes at my job that meant that last week I didn’t get anything done on the story. This wasn’t really what I wanted but they changed my schedule around on me and made it so rather than being able to work consistently on my writing throughout the week now I’ll need to cram it into my weekend. It isn’t a huge deal but it might mean some delays while I get used to the changes. For the short term I expect Chapter 28 to be done by the end of this week, or earlier next week, and for things to solidify into a more regular schedule after that. I expect the story to be done by May at the latest, if not earlier.

If you’ve been reading Down the Rabbit Hole this whole time I can’t thank you enough for your patience and support throughout this process - we’re almost at the finish line, and once the third instalment is wrapped up things will go much more smoothly. There’s going to be some editing and additions I need to do, so keep an eye out for that - I plan to mainly be doing those on AO3 but if I’m able to I’ll update everything here on tumblr as well.

These are going to be fairly significant revisions - I’m planning on adding a roughly 12k word segment towards the beginning of book two (the equivalent of two or so chapters) as well as making numerous smaller changes throughout the rest of the entire story. Then, once that’s done, I’ll be putting it all together into an ebook so that anybody who wants to read this on something like an ereader, phone, or tablet can do so more easily.

If you have no idea what the heck Down the Rabbit Hole is, I can’t really blame you lmao but this is actually my writing blog and DtRH is the project I’ve been working on for the past five or six months. It’s a really pulpy mystery thriller story about a woman who has to do a lot of growing up very quickly set in the superb Mystery Flesh Pit created by @mysteryfleshpit​. I’ve poured my heart and soul into this story and I’d love it if you checked it out. The link to the table of contents is here.

Well it’s hard to say as everyone has their own idea of what’s really dark and what’s not. As everyone has different triggers etc.

I’d say it’s gonna be at least as dark as DTRH. Possibly more so, but again depends on people’s preference of ‘dark’.

The warnings on the first chapter should be an indication of where it’s gonna go and what the darkest aspects will be.
