Not a masami shipper but if mako and asami were not relegated to act in the most heteronormative way possible they would actually be so funny together.

Theyre both traumatized, and theyre soooo emotionally constipated/repressed about it. Theyre both hot to a premium degree, yet have 0 friends their age before meeting korra (more egregious in asamis case tbh). And if i had a nickel for every time they ditched their job in order to travel the world,,,

LMFAOO REAL. mako was violently abused by the system and asami was violently abused by her father (who, incidentally, embodies the system) and they’re both so undersocialized and socially anxious as a result of their trauma and so fucking awkward about it, despite both being famous and wildly talented and looking like supermodels. gold-digger mako x daddy issues asami bonding over their respective traumas and the way the other fills that hole for them in a kind of fucked up way. how did they manage to make that dynamic SO boring?? they could have been so fucking funny (and genuinely compelling!) together. you know. if their relationship (and characterization in general) wasn’t written by like. the most tedious writers in the entire world. i am always saying this.

people blame mako for fumbling the two baddest bitches on the planet, but if i knew one of them, let alone both of them, i wouldn’t know how to act either. i’d be acting like boo boo the fool just to get them to notice me, and then when they did actually notice me my whole brain would just shut down and turn to mush probably. and i’m saying this as an adult woman with game. mako was a socially inept maladjusted traumatized teenage boy with no swag and no prospects. the fact that the two most beautiful powerful amazing girls in the world were both vying for his poor autistic ass after spending his whole life just trying to survive in the conditions that made oliver twist is crazy!!! people get soooo mad at him for fumbling korra and asami but like. can we be honest for a second. like can we be soooo forreal rn. you’d fumble them too. we all would.

The way Asami runs Mako over with her car and they start dating 0.5 seconds after meeting each other and absolutely no one says that ship was forced, but when korra and asami develop a relationship based on friendship and mutual admiration and trust and end up falling in love that's when a ship comes out of nowhere and it's forced okay okay I get it
