the milk flavor is good! its smooth, and has a nice texture. at first I thought it was white chocolate or coconut, though. but overall it tastes pretty nice! the cookie on the outside also isn’t too thick or thin, and feels much lighter than most other snacks I’ve had.

however, the chocomint flavor is pretty confusing. it definitely feels greasier, and still milky. it tastes good, but I definitely wouldn’t eat more than two at a time.

the design of the boxes have a envelope- like opening on the side, making it far easier to open than with a traditional box!

Still about pancakes, this time it's an Indonesian pancake (Indonesian thick sweet pancake): Terang Bulan/Martabak Manis.

Apam balik (lit. 'turnover pancake') also known as Martabak Manis (lit. 'sweet murtabak'), terang bulan (lit. 'moonlight'), peanut pancake or mànjiānguǒ (Chinese: 曼煎粿), is a sweet dessert originating in Fujian cuisine which now consists of many varieties at specialist roadside stalls or restaurants throughout Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. It can also be found in Hong Kong as (Chinese: 冷糕) and Taiwan as (Chinese: 麥仔煎).

Mànjiān (曼煎) is a homophone of Mǎnqīng (滿清), which ruled the final imperial dynasty in China, while guǒ (粿) means pancake.

Crack Chips

My favorite chips in the world. If there was only one snack I could eat for the rest of my life, it would be this. 

Ingredients

Olive oil

6 shallots, thinly sliced

3 garlic cloves, minced

6 lemon kaffir leaves- cut into thin ribbons (scissors work best)

4 red thai chilis- cut in slanted slices

1/2 cup coconut sugar (4.25 oz; 1/2 stick, Gula Jawa brand)

3 tablespoon Seasoned Rice Vinegar

1/2 cup sweet soy sauce

6 oz peanuts (Red Skin Spanish peanuts, 1/2 a can)

16 oz kettle cooked potato chips

Pinch of salt

Large tall pot and plastic spatula to minimize breaking chips

Directions

1. Chop the shallots into thin slices

2. Slice the chili peppers while still frozen

3. Mince the garlic

4. Wash and cut the kaffir leaves into thin slices with scissors

5. Heat pan with olive oil

6. Saute the shallots until brown

7. Add garlic and saute

8. Add pinch of salt and red chili peppers (the longer they are in oil, the spicier it will be)

9. Turn heat to medium

10. Add rice vinegar and kaffir leaves, mix.

12. Add coconut sugar, stirring it into the sauce until dissolved. Continue stirring as you add sweet soy sauce.

13. Once sauce is mixed well, add half of the peanuts and half of the chips. Turn over, scooping underneath gently, so sauce begins to cover them. Slowly add more chips as continue to mix gently

14. Spread out the chips on a cookie sheet and let cool. If the chips are piling on top of each other, use another cookie sheet, so as the chips cool, they don’t stick together.

15. Store in airtight container, although these chips will disappear pretty fast!

Did you know that there’s a #curling panda in the #HelloPanda #sports bags? I didn’t either until a Japanese curling fan posted it on Twitter. Unfortunately I couldn’t find Hello Panda in bags here, which I think is the more common packaging in Japan, so I bought the 3 flavors they had at Seafood City. I opened one small bag of #strawberry and one small bag of #chocolate Out of the 20 pandas, only one was a #curlingpanda Since then I’ve opened 2 more chocolate bags and 1 more strawberry bag and got another curling panda. I hope I get more curling pandas and that they have better printing than the first 2 I got. Tried these snacks from Malaysia 🇲🇾 they smelt like cat crunchiest at first but taste amazing. They taste kind of like prawn crackers with a slight spicy kick. Would def buy them again. 10/10 on the nommy scale 👍🦄

Happy Saturday!👋👋 This morning’s fun snack is fish cakes or in Japanese, Taiyaki! It’s so popular in Japan as a street food! BTW: happy Olympic’s as well! Hooray! I cannot be happier that Suni Lee from my town, St. Paul, MN took gold!👍💪❤️ The inside of these delicious Taiyaki is red bean paste, a traditional filling for these sweet snacks! It’s especially wonderful to make them because I know my son loves fish!
