MtG Token: Assembly-Worker

Magic: the Gathering has been around for 30 years. There are 27,000 unique cards and growing. And a lot of them create tokens. While the official tokens are great, I have a need to celebrate the artwork of our (mtg) ancestors. Let's celebrate older artwork with a new coat of paint.

Token: 2/2 colorless Assembly-Worker artifact creature

The token created by Urza's Factory. "Coincidentally" for the cost of Urzatron

"Coincidentally" for the cost of Urzatron, this land created a basic 2/2. This artwork by Chippy was taken from the very set the Factory came from.

wondering when eiden would have gotten good enough at plushie making to create his entire harem in doll form. ...possibly around the time blade showed up. eiden got a lot of practice making thousands of Eiden Plushies as gifts 🤣

imagining how eiden starts to do a lot of impromptu "visualisation" exercises when blade joins the roster

BLADE: but why was lil yakumo embarrassed when i showed garugaru the box in front of-- EIDEN: (sighing goodnaturedly) ok, say..um *grabs the nearest two items* pretend this cup is garu, and this spoon is yakumo---

after some repetition, eiden wonders if blade will understand better if he just has dolls representing everyone thus begins the plushie brigade

#i will assume that eiden makes the dolls in chronological order of meeting #so yakumo is one of his first dolls? maybe the dante doll is actually BETTER than the yakudoll technique-wise?#by the time dante joins the party #eiden has practised many diff forms of clan member so the creation is more streamlined #but also if we consider the millions of eiden dolls he's already made for blade 😅...#then all his lil clan members are around the same quality regardless of when they were made #eiden respectfully putting his best into every doll. trying to capture the unique charm of each person...#BUT THE GREAT THING ABOUT BLADE IS THAT HE CAN INTERRUPT AT ANY MOMENT #so imagine. that blade catches eiden making the clan member dolls #and he asks why?? and eiden explains that it might be easier for blade to visualise interactions with actual clan member plushies #than randomly assigned objects that happen to be lying around #of course blade gets excited #and he wants to help!! he wants to help Darling make cute little versions of his fave people!!!!#sooooooooo blade will get to make plushies of the clan members eiden hasn't made yet #so it is fully within the realm of possibility #that the itty bitty clan committee comprises adorable perfect lil chibis resembling their namesakes #AND Darling-statue-esque avatars of only the faintest resemblance #imagine that eiden (ever the speedy worker) actually created every clan member up to blade #before blade decides to join the assembly line #so Lord Jackass is the only blade-made doll of the collection (at least until rei joins)#dante could walk in on eiden trying to explain a complicated group scenario to blade (with the plushies of course)#and when he sees how every lil guy is normal except for HIS? ohhhhhhhhhhhohohohohohoho #i'm having a hearty chyuckle about it as we speak #replies

god it is so insane getting so close to the end of making this base. like it feels fake that in like a week from now im gonna have it out but IM SO CLOSEE to being done it is real i know i can hit that deadline.. but i feel like im in the infinite mental dragon prison tunnel

#i did the math even if i take out some work hours i did last year (~10-15ish on concept art) im still at like 3 whole 40 hour work weeks #which means the mental strain im feeling is just because im working enough as your average full time worker #but i am starting to feel a bit loopy from how long this project has been #i did have an autism breakdown like 2 weeks ago bc i did too much in 1 day so im trying to make myself take it a little easier #i will be CELEBRATING next thursday and im gonna order pizza or something #soap talks #im gonna take it easy and do commissions after this release itll be nice getting to do unique stuff again #actual status update though is im about 90% done and i need to just do some final assembly of files and record tutorials basically

why are we having fanmerch manufacturing discourse now

#man speaking as someone who has both ordered fanmerch for myself and who hand makes my fanmerch #this whole discourse seems like it's just punching at fanmerch artists because they're a target in range #rather than actually trying to have conversations about manufacturing and systems of production #like to warp a phrase from a post on here it feels like someone's trying to solve fast fashion by getting rid of all clothes #+ frankly going for purely handmade homemade stuff ain't a grand magic solution either #because that's just kicking the manufacturing and production problems down a step to the materials used to make the product #like me sewing and assembling my plush dolls myself ain't magically inherently more ethical #because the felt and thread and stuffing and so on i use is Also gonna be made in chinese factories #this ain't to say people shouldn't research chinese labor laws and factories #or that they shouldn't try to look into alternatives or cook up ethical ways of manufacturing stuff #it's more just i don't think it's helpful to punch on fanmerch artists about it #specifically BECAUSE these problems are just so much bigger than fanmerch production #i do think also it'd be helpful for like. for someone to actually Talk To some workers at these factories.#like that just feels like a critical POV to have in this conversation
