this is more of a speculation but JLo and Marc Anthony got married 5 months after he divorced his first wife, which implies that JLo and Marc probably started seeing each other when he was still married. Jennifer Lopez has Pushya moon

in an older post, i had mentioned how prostitutes in cinema are often played by Ketu natives and i think its interesting how different types of sex worker esque roles are played by different actors. prostitution is a very unglamorous, unrefined and morally frowned upon profession; Ketu is a shadow planet entirely separate from the material world where "morality" is created and enforced, thus it makes sense why these natives are chosen to play these roles, especially in gritty thrillers set in the underbelly of a big city (very Ketuvian). Ketu is in itself a malefic and associated with paradoxical concepts of apathy, impermanence but also liberation and salvation.

however, when courtesans or concubines are portrayed on screen, they are presented as extremely refined, polished and feminine creatures. historically, they were always educated, cultured, diversely talented and enjoyed a good position in the king's court.

they often acted as counsels, and were known for their refinement. such roles in cinema often seem to be played by Pushya or Punarvasu natives in cinema. i had already observed how cancer is the most feminine sign and how cancer women often play the "dream girl" or "trophy wife" in cinema and i would say this is an extension of that; their hyperfeminine mannerisms and persona make them highly desirable to men and courtesans and concubines are required to maintain themselves to a high degree of femininity in manner, appearance and conduct. it only makes sense that cancer girls, specifically Pushya (the height of femininity) and Punarvasu girls are chosen, repeatedly for these roles.

in most movies where a sex worker plays the protagonist, the main theme often tends to be about salvation/redemption. she's perhaps the whore with a heart of gold , the dichotomy between her character and her "immoral" life is explored. the Ketuvian roles explore these themes in the context of a dark, grungy, seedy brothel set in the underbelly of a big bad city whereas the Cancerian ones explore these in the context of a palace or a highly refined upper class setting where manners & conduct are subject to refinement. Ketu represents the shadow and Cancer ruled by the moon shows the light, although like yin and yang, there's good in the bad and bad in the good thoroughly interwoven into each other and impossible to separate.

2. in my personal observation, pisces rashi (0-3 degrees purvabhadrapada, uttarabhadrapada and revati) and bharani nakshatra endows a native with acting ability. these placements are present in the charts of some of the most talented actors in the history of cinema. obviously, one could have other placements and still be good actors.

heyo! this might be an out-of-the-blue request but could you perhaps give to a fellow mediocre student that is going to enroll in their first year of a physics degree (with a focus on Astrophysics and Astronomy) some tips on how to survive university? I am going to be a first-generation student so the advice that has been given to me is rather scarce... Anything from simple tips to your personal view would be appreciated!

oh exciting! Im also a first gen student so I also felt very lost and alone at the beginning.

making friends: socializing and networking specifically at the beginning of the first semester is terrifying but almost everyone feels that way, freshers are desperate to make friends so connecting is easier. Also you will find yourself in situations that are perfect set-ups to start off friendships: group projects, people looking for study groups, freshers events, clubs,... just do yourself the favor to participate here and there! Also dont stress yourself about making these friendships within the first weeks, you meet new people throughout your time at university. Also not sure what your housing situation will be but dorms are also a good place to start connecting with people!

feeling very lonely at first: totally normal but be prepared for it, find hobbies and activities you can do on your own that keep you busy, maybe join a sports club or find weekly community meetups? Maybe regularly call friends or family? I wasnt able to avoid feeling very alone even though I was prepared for it but knowing that the odds are good that it wont be like that forever helps!

physics courses are hard: they are doable but time consuming. Keeping a study routine that is low maintenance but consistent is worth more than doing several insane 16 hours study sessions during exam season. And try to find a study group to go through the materials and for solving practice problems, preferably people that you feel at ease and motivated studying with.

Balance and mental health: please take care of yourself! Dont overwork yourself but also dont slack off because thats a good set up for spiraling; you have to find a system that works for you to balance uni, free time, sleep and maybe work, and dont listen too much to what others do, everyones needs and bodies are different so what works for others might not work for you! Tho whatever you do dont cut back on sleep if you can. Additionally having a safety net can be helpful, universities often offer free (or more affordable) counseling!

Feeling out of place: Especially if one isnt a child of academics it is very easy to feel like you dont belong but thats absolute bs. You have every right to be there. You might have to work harder than others which sucks and is very unfair but you will look back and see how much progress you have made. And something I have experienced is that family is often very discouraging, my parents are repeatedly trying to talk me into getting a job because they dont see the point in going through +5 years of university to end up doing something in physics/astro. So feel free to just trust your own head and gut feeling sometimes. At the end of the day it is your future. And self check for imposter syndrome because that can make your time at uni very very hard. If you talk to people about it I can assure you that 75% will share that feeling, and these conversations often help identifying that it is literally just your silly little brain acting up a bit.

Yoongi seen as an ultimate dark horse by fans and non-kpop audiences is a no-brainer, as is the traditional interpretation of the card representing a knowing silence and not-yet disclosure of one's stance. As bias, as stan goes the saying, people are patiently waiting for Yoongi to drop his verses. The overall feeling is: Generating interest by being reserved.

II. DISCREPANCY OF HOW HE WANTS TO BE SEEN VS HOW HE IS SEEN?

KNIGHT OF PENTACLES — Yoongi perceives himself as being in the middle of the battlefield of money, work and perseverance, doing business left and right to keep going somewhere. That card is pretty much in line with what we heard about him expanding his ventures and sphere of influence in Daegu. The knight is someone who has an image of being “on the go”. From Yoongi’s perspective, he works just as much as he did during debut times. It’s all a constant line of effort that’s goal-directed, he constantly caters to urgencies that have to be tackled. He’s in a good state of mind, it’s stable, he’s recovered psychologically from feeling apathetic. Yoongi is productive in his hobbies and studio work in a way that makes him feel okay, I’m going somewhere. The way he wants to come across is ever-racing forward, and pentacles are always about personal belongings, so this is a step-by-step approach in the material world he’s undertaking. He’s busier than ever, going from one place to another by car all the time to meet and work with others.

KING OF PENTACLES — In fact, Yoongi has a much more established position than he believes. It’s clear to everyone but him that he has matured in the industry, that he amassed resources, fame, entrepreneurship, and competence as a performer. He’s much further down the path than the knight: A king can sit and settle to enjoy his wealth, right. Yoongi doesn’t feel like that even if people see him as a senior to look up to. He’s too addicted to the hustle and the game that the knight exemplifies rather than standing still and handling big money from his throne position in peace. The managerial King of Pentacles is a master realist and broker, there’s already been success for him and he’s aged. It’s in stark contrast to the young Knight of Pentacles who is still in the midst of it all working hard for years and years. Yoongi would refuse to call himself rich and famous at the end of his financial journey, but still immersed in daily routine for his own king (= the company) as a knight running errands would do. In essence, he does not perceive his own status or doesn’t want it to be his defining element. This also isn’t a new insight given his nature, Yoongi is more comfortable chasing opportunities rather than resting.

III. SOLO ALBUM FORECAST

the deck gave me three different topics:

TEN OF CUPS — A card utterly opposite compared to Yoongi’s past concepts. Cups always show one’s inner lover and soft side. The previous cards eschewed relationships entirely. There was work and finance and societal standing, and being discreet but wise like a mysterious priestess. The Ten of Cups shows an alternative side of Yoongi’s approach to Agust D, the famously rugged and tormented figure always surrounded by fire and chaos. This album will talk about the idea of a blissful family, be that personal or in relation to Bangtan as OT7. Yoongi will ask himself where he will fit in and find his happiness, or show a version of him as a father figure or a kid looking up to his parents. This is one of the happiest and sweetest cards of the tarot, so the pleasant and interpersonal side of life is coming in here. This is a retrospective album that discloses the upbeat rural part of his childhood or makes a stand on BTS as a found family.

The topic of marriage and the conservative/traditional nuclear family could be discussed. „Happy ending“ is a theme, although paired with the other two cards, Yoongi also positions himself outside the process or feels wary about it. Or, he first had that joy and fell into loneliness. It’s not a perfect picture he will paint, but there will be more wholesomeness and the light side. Still, it’s not as dark, violent and martial as Daechwita which was a King of Swords era. The new era could have a romantic fluff element more than ever. A harmonious relation to BTS will be emphasized and he feels stable in their position, or the peak days of OT7 promotions will be a central thought here. It could also refer to Yoongi’s rap colleagues and that he is proud of having strong alliances in the music industry. This album might be the HYBE family coming together so to speak, we can anticipate several collabs. Since there’s dancing on the card, we could get a choreography, too.

THE HERMIT — An unsurprising major arcana representative. The isolated Hermit is Yoongi’s personal essence: Alone, but definitely enjoying his solitude for the knowledge and dissolving of ego it brings. And, of course, the mental maturity he’s always exhibited, earning him a reputation of being the uncle or grandpa in the group, which the bearded Hermit pretty much reflects in a positive and elevated light. Yoongi will talk about being by himself and what he learned from self-reflection, there will be imagery of wandering around, a lamp lighting the dark, maybe a cloak (hanbok?) and staff or hood that he conceals himself with literally or metaphorically. It’s a huge difference to mainstream pop music and rap that talks about love, assets, and power. This card strikes a different chord since it’s pretty much the Gandalf of the tarot deck.

It’s all about lonesome spirituality and musings about humanity this time. There could also be an element of travel, walking in mountains and the snow. Grey is a predominant color in this concept. Because: Grey is neutral and free of any rousing to the eye. The Hermit is free from highs and lows and ordinary life, he’s in his mind to find out who he is. Yes, Yoongi is not done introspecting and looking for identity. Since the other card in the spread are from the minor arcana, this is the main talking point. He continues to be a philosopher on his own life rather than branching out to huge trends in society. This album doesn’t have a heavy political slant but remains spiritual in nature. His character of being a loner and Agust D portraying an outcast will solidify. The aesthetics will be tamer and more cloudy. Winter is a big theme for the Hermit, it’s either the season when his album drops or the general visual of it. The number 9 or 10 reoccurs in the spread, it will have significance (e.g. 9 tracks, a 9-minute MV, 9 weeks in the top 10 charts, etc).

NINE OF WANDS — A more familiar pose when we look back on his previous concepts. The Nine of Wands shows a farmer (the likelier option, see Agust D) or craftsman with a bandaged head hiding on his field between a forest of woods as if there was sprouting bamboo. Where there’s red and blue and grey clothing on the other cards, we get a strong red-orange with green here, attracting attention despite the person hiding. The farmer is on the fence and paranoid of an encroaching action. The meaning of the card goes toward „waiting in angst“ or self-defense from injury. A topic of severity and danger is nothing new in the universe of Agust D, so the album will talk about recurring topics of stress, coping, fear, protecting oneself especially.

I have a feeling this has to do with Yoongi’s growing fame with people getting in his zone congruently, but we also have to see the three cards in relation to each other. It could be paranoia of loneliness, or being terrified of the happy ending in a family. Since the Nine of Wands is last in the spread, this is Yoongi’s final stance on the topics he discusses: He’s actually terrified and needs to continue to endure. Even if he dreams of concluding or is comfortable being by himself like the Hermit, there’s immense fatigue.  The card imagery also reminds me of Yoongi dressed in Daechwita, rags, and the black hair of the anti-emperor self. The spirit of anti-authority is still here, but this time, not attacking but waiting in one’s lair not wanting to be bothered.

New Gods by Jack Kirby is a story of good and evil, of nature versus nurture, and of gods, monsters and humanity.

Join me as I summarize and retell issue #1 in ten minutes or less, with snippets of dialog and my questionable attempts at dramatic reading.

Hello! This is KateReadsComics with an audio summary of New Gods Volume 1 Issue 1, "Orion Fights for Earth!" Written, drawn and edited by Jack Kirby and inked by Vince Colletta, with a cover date of March 1971.

We start... with an epilogue.

"There came a time when the old gods died! The brave died with the cunning! The noble perished, locked in a battle with unleashed evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!"

The story opens with the cataclysmic end to a great war, a planet wrenching apart, and from its destruction two new planets created. The narration continues.

"It was this way for an age. Then, there was new light!"

With that, Orion bursts towards the viewer, flying through space as we begin our tale.

As he flies, beams of light swirl around him and we are introduced to Lightray, a friend who welcomes him back to New Genesis. They fly to a futuristic city floating on a large mechanical platform far above the green planet below, and despite Orion's propensity for battle, Lightray encourages him to laugh.

"I fear that my recall is not a laughing matter, Lightray!" Orion says.

"Nonsense! To laugh is to feel the beat of life! Live, Orion! Live!" Lightray says, arms spread wide and a smile on his face.

The two discuss the responsibility Orion has as the wielder of the Astro Force and how the burden darkens his demeanor.

"Perhaps! We are different, you and I. And yet, good friends," he says, removing his harness and helmet.

Orion's closed off nature causes Lightray to speak more pointedly.

"Yes, but I hide nothing from you. Whereas inside you, there are chambers which no one may enter!"

"That is true!" Orion agrees, grimly. "I am two worlds. Like New Genesis and that demon's pit, Apokolips! One drifting forever in the shadow of the other."

"Orion, I didn't mean-"

Lightray doesn't continue. He knows he's overstepped.

The two go to meet Highfather, who has summoned Orion to New Genesis, and find him, shepherd's crook in hand, listening thoughtfully to a choir of children. He remarks to Orion that children represent life and must live freely. He and Orion bow to the children, then take their leave.

They approach a wall at the end of a walkway, which Highfather informs is linked with the Source. Orion looks on in reverence.

"That is so! It is eternal! It is the Life Equation!"

Then from behind, a voice calls out and a figure in a chair appears from thin air.

"All this can be ended, Orion! Highfather has not told you all-"

"Metron! You icy mask! Have you been summoned too?"

Orion is immediately hostile towards Metron, but Highfather ends their squabbling.

"Silence! The wall awaits the written word!"

Metron mutters something about wishing to have the Source's knowledge, and Orion tells him to be content with his Mobius chair that can travel time and space.

Meanwhile something is happening with the wall. A large pointing hand has appeared, encircled with flames. The writing is clear.

"Orion to Apokolips, then to Earth, then to war."

The three take in the weight of the words.

"The Source gives us the irrevocable counsel!" Orion says, accepting its message.

"But it does not decide!" Highfather clarifies. "The right of choice is ours! That is the Life Equation!"

And Metron divulges some pertinent information. "The Anti Life Equation was undiscovered until these days! It means the outside control of all living thought!"

So it is up to Orion what action to take. Will he go to Apokolips where its ruler, Darkseid, has taken away the free will of his own people? Orion repeats the Source's message, confirming that he will follow its guidance. 

“First to Apokolips, then to Earth, then to war!”

With his mission set, he takes his leave. As he exits, Metron ponder's aloud.

"Who is more ready to fight the father... than the son!"

"Metron! Hold your tongue!" Highfather scolds. "You toy with my wrath!"

But Metron has figured out enough, and Highfather confirms in candid words that no, Orion is not born of New Genesis, but rather Apokolips.

"But it is not yet time for him to know!" he says, swearing Metron to secrecy.

Apokolips, a dark planet crammed with run down industrial slums, and dotted with burning pits spewing with fire from their craters. It’s nothing like the beauty and splendor of New Genesis. Orion arrives and takes in his surroundings as he descends.

“It is a dismal, unclean place of great, ugly houses sheltering uglier machines,” he thinks to himself. 

As he flies, he is attacked from all sides by Parademons, the flying guards of Apokolips. They know of him, and fear the power of his Astro Harness, but are quick to rally.

“He won’t use it! He is like us! He worships combat! He desires the nearness of death! Then die, Orion! You cannot enter Apokolips!”

“I shall!” he yells with righteousness. “It is written! It is my destiny!”

And so he uses the Astro Force, just enough to blast away his enemies. He lands near a large stone statue of Darkseid and swears that as long as he lives he will fight against Darkseid and never let him claim the Anti Life Equation.

Then, more guards appear, an entire team of ground troops. It’s not long before Orion’s presence catches more attention and they are reinforced by sentries riding large, ferocious hounds. And so Orion knows his only choice is to engage them in combat. He lunges and meets the dogs head on, grabbing one and tossing it into the others, barrelling them and their riders over. 

Eventually he is able to escape, and dashes to Darkseid’s throne, only to find in its place a giant Mass Director Unit, which transmits all of Darkseid’s commands to the denizens of Apokolips, a technology that strips them of their free will and forces compliance. He is shocked to see that this machine is ruling Apokolips in Darkseid’s absence.

“Wrong, Orion! The director keeps order here. But it is I who guard Apokolips!”

Orion turns to find Kalibak the Cruel, a monstrous being, wide and strong. The two prepare to engage in an all out battle, but just as Kalibak charges, he is overtaken by a strange green energy, which blocks him from view.

“Metron!” Orion exclaims, turning to see the enigmatic man has appeared behind him, still in the Mobius chair, which emits the green energy. “I need no help from such as yourself! To fight Kalibak one needs but power!”

“You’ll need more than that to fight Darkseid!” Metron counters. “Darkseid is already on Earth, even now, paving the way for its complete subjugation! And you fret over Kalibak!”

Orion has been pushed and in response bursts out. “I feel! I anger! I fight! And you,” he says, pointing an accusatory finger. “You are like your cold machines!”

In response Metron says he serves life, but in his own way, and with his knowledge has created what the young gods call Boom Tubes. And it is that exact technology that Darkseid has used to reach Earth and begin constructing another Mass Director Unit along with tunnels underneath the planet’s major cities, all with the express purpose of finding the human whose mind possesses the key to the Anti Life Equation. 

He goes on to explain that Darkseid has already experimented on humans right here on Apokolips. Orion is outraged and bursts into the room where four humans lay in a sleep stasis, heads covered by mechanical helmets attached to the table they’re on.

To help them, Metron uses his chair to materialize the Astro Harness, which Orion had left by the statue, then teleports himself away.

Orion makes quick work of freeing the humans, and as they come to they see Kalibak rushing at them. Metron’s exit meant the force field holding Kalibak at bay was no more.

Kalibak in his fury blasts the group with a nerve beam from his Beta Club, and Orion quickly moves in front of the humans so that his Astro Force can take the brunt of the attack. It’s enough to save them, but Orion knows he cannot stay and fight. He must get the humans to safety. Behind them a Boom Tube opens, and they rush through, narrowly avoiding Kalibak’s last attack.

“This isn’t our last encounter, Orion!” Kalibak shouts, his Beta Club crashing against the room’s machinery as the Boom Tube closes. “When we meet again, I shall deliver your carcass to Darkseid! Remember that!”

At the other end of the Boom Tube, the humans exit safely, followed by Orion just as the Boom Tube dissipates to nothing. Gathering themselves and realizing they have made it back to Earth, two of the humans introduce themselves as Victor Lanza, an insurance broker, and Claudia Shane, a secretary. But before any others can speak, Orion stops them and turns his attention to the sky.

“There is a being aboard here with powers beyond your wildest dreams! Darkseid is here!” He looks up to the roiling, rumbling sky and calls out. “Darkseid! I have come! The battle begins!”

And finally we see Darkseid, face as craggy and harsh as the stone of the statue on Apokolips. Accompanied by several guards and warriors, he too is beneath the storming sky of the city. The scene brings us to the end of the chapter, which begins the greater story… with a prologue.

“As was in the time of the old gods, the titanic struggle for the fate of mankind is to rage once again!! The new gods wield greater power, for in our day, it’s we who live in the dark shadow of the outcome!”

And with that, Darkseid heeds Orion’s call. “I hear you, Orion! The battle begins!”
