I just got to the appearance of Moc Weepe in 3x19 with the reveal of his new Fold-forward look, and I've had thoughts about this aspect of him as the story has progressed and this seems like as good a time as any. He is saturated by dark Fold matter and it's easy to draw that as a parallel to "he's full of malice" and certainly the visual isn't contradictory with the narration taking care to emphasize how grotesque it is. Moc Weepe is convinced he's inherently bad, and that his warped, painful form and its progression is just a reflection of that badness and a punishment too. His appearance horrifies the pearl-clutchers of the Highest Light and he seems to revel in that in a sort of masochistic way. But the thing is, there are whole societies that live in the Fold at peace and in balance with it, inclusive of its wild effects. The Fold isn't evil. Or good. It is more like, change. Moc Weepe isn't evil because he has the Fold running through his veins, he's evil because of all the evil shit he keeps getting up to.
It's honestly just (highly thematic, narratively intentional, visually striking) happenstance that his Fold-infused appearance aligns with the light/dark, valor/caenum, good/bad dichotomy woven throughout the story. One of the story's ultimate messages is that treating these concepts as one-dimensional and absolute can become harmful! The progression of his Fold condition might mirror his descent into the worst version of himself, but it is not causing him to. That's all homegrown. For someone who doesn't believe in the Trust, ironically it turns out Moc Weepe actually does have some pretty inflexible ideas about what makes someone good or bad.

Still thinking about Lark's mom's divination bag and its path through the cosmos.
A bag of junk. A good tool. A collection of objects that connects one to the spiderweb. To each other.
