Always picks exercises that meet your goals or help you to further hit your goals. If your goal is to get better at the #squat, pick exercises that MIMIC it as much as possible. One of my favorite #squatvariations is the #gobletsquat. Some benefits of the Goblet Squat include extra core work, as you're expected to #braceyourcore, just like you would with the barbell variation itself. Using dumbbells, regardless of what #reprange you utilize, forces your body to stabilize itself. Think holding up a heavy dumbbell in front of your chest is easy the first few times around? Also, with extra stability comes extra tension, as dumbbell exercises are more known as muscle builders than barbells. Position yourself the way you would in a barbell squat with your feet shoulder width apart, #scapula retracted and your head NEUTRAL. Pause at the bottom of your last rep for a good two or more seconds for extra #timeundertension. The added eccentricity WILL increase the size of those #quads! Here's 70x5x5. Hey personal trainers! Let's have a round discussion! My client intake has increased at a faster rate than I ever could have imagined and, between that and working another job, it can get very tiring. But there are moments that remind me why I chose this lifestyle. For example! A client called me up to cancel on Thursday because he wasn't going to be home on time. I was already in his vicinity and I had another client in that area. So I thought on my feet (or at the wheel) and offered to train him later. The choice would be his. He called me back up and agreed to the later time, so long as I knew it had to be a short session. Challenge accepted! I shortened and MAXIMIZED his workout time, meaning his training may have been brief, but it still intense. He thanked me after we finished, telling me that still training was worth it for him. That, as trainer, meant the world to me. It meant everything to me. It made me proud to do what I do, to know I made an impact on someone. So I was finally able to hit ten reps on this insane exercise (although I did just eight in this video). One to I can offer, that I didn't offer on my last post regarding the #glutehamraise, is to make sure that ONLY the balls of your feet are on the metal plate, leaving your ankles in a state of #dorsiflexion. This will aid I'm ensure your legs slide on the pad, allowing for a smooth path between #flexion and #extension, without overworking the #lowerback. I hope to use apply either tension using a #resistanceband or weight using a #dumbbell real soon. Here's my last set of bodyweightx3x10,10,8 supersetted with #ropestraightarmpulldowns. I imagine this could be a great tool for #bodybuilders to use in their own training, yet I've yet to hear if any do. If any of you bodybuilders reading do, in fact, implement the #ghr into your training please drop a comment below and let me know how you approach it as well as if you find it to be as effective for #bodybuilding as #powerlifters find it to be for what they do. Upon performing any #pulldownvariation, always make sure to brace, just as you'd do with any big #compoundexercise. Breath into your belly before your pull, exhale once your chosen bar is at the top of your chest, and inhale again before your raise the bar back to its starting point. The #spinalstability will ensure that you don't arch your #lowerback, especially as the weight gets heavier. Here's a smooth, controlled 100x10 using the #magbar. I finally understand why this is considered a #lowerbodypullup. Here are some benefits of the #glutehamraise: * With proper form this will ABSOLUTELY isloate your #hamstrings probably more than most #posteriorchain #isolationexercises. *Over time these will build up the size on your hamstrings OVERALL as well as the #glutes. This is essentially thanks to the demands placed on the #lowerbody. Think the #saidprinciple. *The ability to strengthen and build up your hamstrings using this WILL carry over to a stronger, and far more STABLE #squat, #deadlift and probably even your #benchpress. Make sure to TAKE YOUR TIME with these. Do not rush these. My hips are a bit bent but this will go away the more I practice it. Make sure you stretch your hamstrings enough before ascending back up and like with most exercises, be sure to BRACE. By the way, major thanks goes to @joelt800 for his critique on this. Just bought this two days ago over at @atoznutritionandsmoothies. As you should know by now, the main difference between #wheyprotein and #wheyproteinisolate is that, with the ISLOATE, the #protein is filtered even more to reduce the amount of #sugar and #lactose until all that's left is just the protein. Now take that concept and imagine if the isloate was now hydrolyzed on top of that, breaking down the #proteinchains, thus making the protein easier to digest, and you have this here #proteinpowder by @musclesportusa. Featuring a combination of the aforementioned proteins, along with #mediumchaintriglycerides, #lcarnitine, and less than a gram of sugar, this powder promises to metabolize #fat. I bought #clusterdextrin or #cyclicdextrin for the first time back in January, after coming to the realization that my body could no longer handle #dextrosepowder during my training sessions. Dextrose is made using corn, something not deemed easily digestible for some. The sugar content didn't truly help either. So here are some quick facts about #highlybranchedcyclicdextrin! * Due to its low #osmolarity, it's far easier to digest and will remain in your gut for less time before being absorbed by the intestines. * Because #hbcd is #sugarfree and #glutenfree, you'll never experience any #insulinspikes. So with that in mind, this is a #carbohydrate I'd recommend taking during and after you finish training. If you train on an empty stomach like I started doing again, I'd highly recommend using this while on the gym for #glycogenreplenishment. Hello there! I hope everyone reading this in the #northeast is safe from last night's record breaking storm. So here's a friendly tip on how to avoid a simple mistake we all have made - myself absolutely included! In the first picture you'll see a #barbellplate placed with its rear facing outward. This is very common in every gym you go to. In the second picture you'll see another plate with its outer layer up front. That outer layer is the lip of the barbell plate. It's always best to make sure you return a plate to where you found it with the lip facing forward. The reason being you can easily place your fingers under the lip in order to easily grip to plate and hold it in both hands. So next time you finish your sets and you're preparing to #rerackyourweights (which I hope you all do regardless!), make sure the outer lip of the plate faces forward. Hello and I hope you all enjoyed your 4th of July! Here's a quick #trainertip brought to you by yours truly. I began incorporating the #pausesquat into my #squat warmups two weeks ago and I recommend you do the same. Pause Squats just what they sound like: descend to the bottom and hold for at least two seconds. Do them because holding the bottom position increases #timeundertension, stimulating the quads, therefore acting as a catalyst for further growth. Do them because the increased TUT improves the #concentric portion of the squat - the explosiveness. Do them because your chest will be forced to lead in the ascension from the bottom as you explode up, followed by your #hips. This obviously is a blatant reinforcement of #movementpatterns. Here's 185 paused at the bottom. It's 75% of yesterday's desired weight of 265.
