this is the part of the new series that i am writing. i took the concept and prompts from yurawiththegoodhair on ao3, and i will be writing them for the couples that i see most fitting for the respective prompt. i hope you like them!

summary: first part of the 50 kisses series, a kiss in secrecy.

pairing: paul aron x aurora simmons.

“i'm going to the bathroom, please don't kill each other” dino said, looking at aurora and paul glaringly.

aurora did nothing but show him his middle finger as paul rolled his eyes. dino laughed and left the room, leaving them in an awkward silence.

they had confessed their feelings for each other recently and they were still hiding their situationship from their peers. the newly revealed feelings still felt a little awkward between them, as they didnt know how to show them.

so they are mean to each other to hide the awkwardness.

“why are you breathing so hard? oh my god” aurora groaned, looking up from her phone to look at him.

“really? i'm breathing too hard?” he complained, looking at her too.

“yes.” she dared him with her eyes.

“shut me up then, come here.” paul looked at her with a grin adorning his lips.

that took her by complete surprise. yes, they had made out multiple times, but it was still new to her how forward paul was when he wanted to.

“fuck no, if dino comes in and finds us kissing we are done for. also i don't want to kiss your ugly face.” she denied, looking at him with fake disgust.

the way her nose scrunched made her look adorable in his eyes. just watching her mean, sarcastic humour made him feel all giddy inside and it was a very weird feeling. not one he could express to her without her making fun of him, anyways.

“okay then, your loss” he stuck his tongue out at her without knowing that this gesture made her feel the same thing he had felt before.

they went back to the silence, the only thing that could be heard was sounds that came out of their phones. stolen glances were exchanged from his part, noticing how she was shamelessly staring at him.

he was just so hot, she couldn't help it. she couldn't help to think of how she wanted to lay next to him, caress his face and kiss him. she knew she could, and her time was running out before dino came to pester them again.

fuck it

she stood up from her place on the couch and sat alongside him. he looked up at her and showed her a small smile that made the butterflies in her stomach do flips and turns.

aurora grabbed his face and left a small kiss on his lips. it wasn't like their other kisses, it was tender and short, but left a smile on both of their faces.

they looked at each other for a few seconds before they heard footsteps nearing the room. she stood up again and moved to the opposite couch, continuing to watch her phone as if nothing had happened.

“you guys didn't kill each other!” dino celebrated, laughing a little too long about his own very unfunny joke.

while dino laughed, paul sent a wink in auroras direction, making her smile.

Crossover scene, Nate & Aurora?

At first I wanted to go with an half-angsty scene (just saying... season 3 Michael...) but then no bc they deserve all the fluff!

Set between season 2 and 3, aka after The Mess. Aurora waits Nate to cope with that but after the third week he still haven't left his room so she just shows up and says "We're getting out of here". She doesn't mean go out, she means flying to Italy and spending at least two weeks there with Nate's Italian Squad (I really need to introduce them and Elliott's Dance Team lmao). Maybe also the Warblers go?

I have in my mind this montage of them just hanging out together and doing things and in each scene Nate is progressively happier and happier and this just gets me.

And more generally, Nate and Aurora in Italy is always God Tier.

In Dan Simmons’ leviathan of a novel The Terror, a semi-historical account of a failed bid in the 1840s to chart the legendary “northwest passage” through the frozen arctic.

Simmons accomplishes much in his 800 pages—supernatural beings stalking the ice, arrogant British explorers ignoring nature and common sense, a landscape both barren and hostile, sailors succumbing to scurvy and cannibalism—but what stands out is the cold.

A hundred degrees below zero cold.

The painting on the cover of the hardback edition of novel (shown above) goes a long way toward capturing this alien, frozen wasteland and the suffering and wonder it provoked. The painting is Magdalena Bay, by the 19th century French artist Auguste François Biard. The painting, which is now in the Louvre, shows the aurora borealis from a bay on the Arctic island of Spitzbergen. In the foreground are five figures, presumably explorers, who are either dying or dead:

Biard painted this fantastic, morbid scene after he participated in a scientific expedition to the Arctic in the 1830s (in which nobody died), and he seems to foreshadow, in an oddly Romantic style, the ill-fated journey of the HMS Erebus and Terror in the 1840s (in which everybody died). It is quite easy to imagine that the men in Biard’s painting are the same men who Simmons has dying by the dozens…from exposure, from botulism, from pneumonia, from tuberculosis, from scurvy, and from murder.

In line with the humanistic outlook of the time, the French expedition team aboard the corvette La Recherche, included both scientists and artists. The hope was that the artists would create works that documented the expedition as well as inspired the citizens back home about the value of exploration and discovery. The artists had an implicit pedagogical mission: to teach people that scientific progress is worthwhile, that extending the limits of human knowledge is brave, vital, and beautiful. Of course, Biard’s painting would seem to suggest that it’s also dangerous, and that for prideful men, the drive to chart the uncharted can be pure folly.

aurora did not know what to do with her life.

kissing paul was life changing, and she didn't know if it was necessarily a good change. the day after they kissed, aurora called in sick, too afraid to face paul after what they had done. she really didn't expect something to change between them, but it still hurt her a little bit when he ignored her when she went back to work.

however, she was determined to not show him her feelings. the fact that they kissed did not change anything about their dynamic. he hated her and she hated him, period.

a week later, aurora found herself entering a hotel in le castellet, ready to start the paul ricard weekend. as she turned around to find ollie, her body collided with a broad chest. a chest she had rested her hands on while having the best kiss of her life. the collision made her trip back, but he caught her in time for her not to fall, grabbing her arm to steady her.

“can’t you watch where youre going?” paul spat. “i can ask the same, dumbass” she deffended. even as they exchanged rude comments, their bodies remained close together and his hand still clinged to her arm. “im not going to fall anymore, let go.” the girl ripped her arm from his grasp, turning around and leaving him standing on his own.

they checked into their rooms, and as paul needed to go to the bathroom, angelina took the opportunity to check him into the special room she had booked for him.

paul met angelina to get his keycard before going to his room. he went into the room without looking, not minding to check for anyone since it was supposed to be his room. his attention was snatched by a loud screech, coming from none other than aurora simmons herself.

“dude! what the fuck!” she exclaimed, rapidly putting her halfway rolled up shirt back on. the guy was too stunned to speak “what are you doing in my room, you weirdo!?” that took him out of his trance “what are you doing in my room?” he retorted. “this is my room, look!” she held up her keycard, showing the same number that were printed on his. he repeated her actions. “it must be a mistake, let's go ask rene” the both went for the door. he tried to open it but failed. “its locked” he muttered “it can't be locked, move” she tried to open it too, failing as well.

they called rene and told him the situation, only for him to sigh “we locked your door, and it isn't a mistake.” he informed “what?” both teenagers exclaimed “you guys are staying in there until tomorrow. work out your problems or whatever” aurora swore she was having a nightmare, she pinched her arm and confirmed it was very much real. “you can't starve us, and there is only one bed!” he complained.

fuck, she had not thought of that. would she have to share with him? would she make him sleep on the floor? would he make her sleep on the floor? fuck, fuck and a million times fuck.

“we left more than enough food in the mini fridge, and the bed… i don't know, figure it out. goodbye” and with that, rene cut the call short “this is definitely illegal” was the first thing that came out of the girl’s mouth. “there’s probably something in our contracts that must allow it, smart fuckers” he groaned. “well, i don't think there is anything we can do, we might as well accept it.” she flopped down on the bed.

paul stared at her for a few seconds, cringing at the first thought that came to mind while watching her. he wanted to kiss her again. he shook his head and moved on to put his bags on a corner of the room. they silently accepted the fact that there was no way to get out of the situation, so they each went their own way and did what they needed to do in silence.

aurora ended up falling asleep. she curled herself on the covers, and she looked absolutely adorable.

paul felt incredibly creepy watching her, but how could he not? he was completely enamoured by her, and he hated it.

aurora woke up to the sound of a shower running. she remembered the situation she was in, making her groan and cover her face with the blanket. after a few seconds, she sat up and checked her phone, which was plugged into the wall. weird, she didn't remember plugging it in. she checked the time, it was 8:46p.m. she must have been tired if she slept almost 5 hours. as she looked around, she saw a plate of food set on a small table, it was covered with a paper towel that had her name written on it in paul’s hand writing.

he made food for her?

just as she started eating, paul came out of the bathroom, shirtless and drying his hair with a towel. when he noticed her staring, he smirked ever so slightly so she wouldn't notice. 

“sorry, i didn't know you were awake.” he reached for a shirt and put it on, not missing the slight disappointment in her eyes. “that's alright.. thanks for the food.” it felt weird having her smiling at him. “dont worry about it” he hasitated at the thought of sitting down with her, but his phone rang on his hand, saving him from doing anything stupid.

as paul spoke on the phone, aurora ate silently while watching the first episode of the screaming meals podcast for the third time that week. “is that screaming meals?” the estonian asked, walking up to where she was sitting “yeah, first episode” the girl smiled as he sat down on a chair next to her. “you're still on the first one? i swear i saw you watching it like a week ago” she smiled at the thought of him paying as much attention as to notice what she watched. “im re-watching it, felipe drugovich is just so ughh” she put her head down on the table dramatically.

paul rolled his eyes in jealousy and opened his mouth to speak only to close it again, not wanting to ruin the peace in between them.

 “im hotter, thought” his words made her let out a laugh “i don't know about that” she looked at him up and down, as if trying to evaluate his statement. “i definitely am” a playful smile was plastered on both of their faces “in a scale from one to charles leclerc, he is the next best thing” her body turned to face his, her food long forgotten “and i am charles leclerc” the boy winked “i don't know, i would say like a 5” she joked.

paul is definitely not a 5.

he was interrupted in the middle of his defensive statement by her phone ringing. the girl excused herself before taking the call, leaving him to clean the table and lay down on the bed. the call lasted around an hour, which made paul slightly annoyed. who was she talking to for that long?

“sorry, my sister called” she hoped the friendly mood they had before wasnt interrupted “its fine, i dont really care” and with that, annoying paul was back. 

his attitude made the girl sigh. she grabbed her necessary things and hopped on the shower. outside, paul groaned in frustration. they were doing so good, why did he have to fuck it up?

when she came out of the shower they did not address each other for a while, trying to avoid any fights or discussions. as she saw him starting to look sleepy, she asked the question that both of them were afraid to ask.

“how are we going to sleep?” the bed was definitely big enough for both of them. “i’m not sleeping on the floor,” he answered “well, i am not either” she defended “then get on the bed, sweetheart.” the sarcasticness in his voice didn't make the nickname any easier to ignore “i sleep on the left side” their eyes connected in a battle that they both knew well. “have at it, then.”

aurora sighed as she turned off the light, getting into the bed. she was nearly falling off trying not to touch him “you're going to fall off” he warned “wouldn't you like that?” she scoffed. “it would be pretty funny” he laughed when she slapped his arm. the girl scooted more into the bed, still wary of not touching him.

she turned her back to him and tried to sleep. she knew she wouldn't be able to sleep because of the long nap she had taken before, which made her turn around multiple times before hearing his groan. “can you be still?” his voice was groggy with sleepiness “sorry, i can't sleep” she sighed.

they both layed in silence for what felt like ages before she spoke “why do you hate me so much?” the question took paul by surprise. he stayed quiet for a few seconds before answering “because of the same reason you hate me, i guess” both their voices were soft and quiet “you don't know why i hate you” the conversation felt way more intimate than it should “why do you, then?” the boy asked “i asked you first” she heard him sigh. something overtook her body as she turned to look at him, meeting with his gorgeous side profile which was barely seeable in the dark.

“i don't understand you, you're always strong and confident, it's frustrating” he admitted, she could see the slight frown that adorned his face “I feel insecure too, you know” the boy turned to face her “you never look like it” his words were merely whispers “i cant really afford to. when you're a woman in a sport like racing there is always an asshole that will try to bring you down, you know?” their eyes connected, and she could see the slight sadness that flooded his “im sorry” his words sounded sincere “i wasn't talking about you” she offered him a small smile.

why did she do that? why did she smile even though she just basically made him realise how much of an asshole he was?

“so why do you hate me?” it was his turn to ask “i don't really know, you give me a weird feeling” his heart skipped a beat as she looked away from him. could she feel the same about him? “how does it feel?” his hand went up to her face to move a strand of hair away. “like i'm nervous, i hate being nervous”

holy shit. she was really telling him.

“really?” his hand rested on her hair still “and it annoys me that youre such a fuck boy” the girl rolled her eyes, making him let out a small laugh “why is that?” he had a smug smile plastered on his lips, and she wanted nothing more than to kiss it right off. “you shouldn't give those girls hope when there isn't even a chance” lie “is that right? or are you mad that it's not you?” his statement made her thank the universe for the dark, because he missed the red colour that swarmed her cheeks “definitely not that” lie “are you sure?” the boy pushed. aurora huffed and turned around, facing his back to him “think whatever you want, aron. goodnight.”

she could have sworn her heart stopped when she felt an arm wrapping around her waist, pulling her into him “i think a lot of things, some more pg than others, but you are the main character in every single one of them” his words were whispered into her ear, and they made chills run up her spine.

his hand gripped the hip that was pressed on the mattress, pulling it towards him to turn her around. she didn't have a chance to speak when his lips were on hers. she followed the kiss immediately, her craving for his lips stronger than her willpower to break away. paul sat up, gripping her thighs and pulling her up with him to sit on his lap.

“you don't get to kiss me whenever you want” she said as they parted away from the air “do i get to kiss you whenever you want?” he asked, not giving her time to answer before he kissed her again.

they spent the night that way, in between heated make outs and slow kisses until they both were too tired to stay awake for longer.

aurora woke up the next morning to him gone.

as the urge to scream into her pillow was just about to win her over, the bathroom door opened, revealing a shirtless paul with a bed head. “morning, simmons” he said, offering her the most breathtaking smile in the world “morning” she returned the gesture.

she stood up to go to the bathroom, making it to the door before being pulled towards him by her arm and receiving a kiss to her lips “i meant everything about last night, okay?” his eyes met hers “me too” she smiled before tiptoeing to give him a small peck and go into the bathroom, closing the door before he could do anything else.

after they did everything that they needed to do -sneaking a few kisses here and there- they went down to the lobby, where a couple people expected them.

“so, how did it go?” angelina asked hopeful “he’s still the same asshole we all know and i hate” aurora answered, giving him a small sarcastic smile “still the same brat” paul copied her actions. rene sighed while angelina loudly groaned, both missing the small wink he sent her and the smile that adorned both their faces.

So I got a question. Since it's briefly mentioned in the latest chapter of ItFoS, what would the royal couple think of the human concept of renewing their vows? And if they go along with the idea, would it be short and sweet or would they try to make it the renewal wedding of the millennium? Please give all the details you can.

Oooh~! Well, Mothra thinks the concept is absolutely darling; what could be sweeter and more romantic than a couple reaffirming the sacred vows they made on marriage? Goji gets to thinking about it and remembers the "marriage ceremony" he had with Mothra so long ago -- they'd met at one of the poles where the night sky was alive with nebulae and the aurora, so that their bioluminescence danced across the snow and water.

Goji was younger and brasher back then but was struck dumb seeing Mothra dancing elegantly before him in a courtship display, her wings glowing with dazzling light and colors. This was his first time seriously committing himself to a mate and so Goji was a bit nervous, a young bull doing his best to reciprocate the performance for a much older and more experienced female, and a fellow Alpha at that. Fortunately Mothra found his nervousness and earnest efforts one more thing to adore, and so the two were "married" in the Titan fashion.

After some centuries they enjoyed a second marriage ceremony, this time in human guise; they'd seen ancient human weddings and Mothra was so charmed by the idea that they decided "why not" and arranged for a small, private ceremony since they didn't have many human friends (or at least Goji didn't) and it would feel awkward to plan a grand ceremony in front of so many strangers.

Fast-forward to ItFoS times; maybe after humanity at large is gradually made aware of the fact that Titans can take human form, Mothra and Goji learn about vow renewal ceremonies and get to work planning their first real, proper royal wedding they haven't had yet. And since this is in modern times, they decide to indulge and go all out; they don't mind if things don't go perfectly and will take mistakes in stride, they want it to be a memorable event, warts and all. Thanks to Maia Simmons pulling some strings, they even get their own tailors to custom make their wedding clothes and a jeweler to make the rings.

Suffice to say, it's the royal wedding that blows all other weddings away. Goji, looking so dashing and handsome, looks up the aisle and gets teary-eyed seeing his gorgeous wife in a stunning gown that's not the traditional white but an eye-catching red. Anyone who'd complain about a red wedding dress ends up eating their words seeing the queen approach her husband. After being pronounced man and wife and sharing the kiss, Goji throws his stoicism to the wind and sweeps Mothra off her feet into a bridal carry and spins her with a big and happy laugh.

(I'm gonna say that Kong is actually going to be Goji's best man and if not Vivienne then fellow Titan queen Barb could be Mothra's maid of honor; both instances of them burying their respective hatchets. Who catches the bouquet? I'll leave that up to you guys!)
