Cumulus and Sunshine are in charge of the clothing section. They can tell you for sure what brands are more affordable but still just has sturdy as Carhartt. And no, that cut of boot cut jeans does not work for your body shape but we will find you something that makes you feel great and your ass look fabulous.

Aurora is in charge of the nursery section. Her plants are the healthiest and come with a life guarantee. She and Mountain work...very close together.

Cirrus is the store manager. She's fair, she runs a tight ship, but you better be respectful to her employees or she will ban your ass.

Dew getting teased/people not thinking he's strong enough to do his job is highkey relatable, but also him hauling ass and getting shit done is very satisfying. BIO:

The first big scare Lucky Lewis had given his parents was silence in the seconds that followed his birth. It wasn’t just them who felt the terror of it, the doctor who had delivered him and the nurse present too also felt it – until eventually a cry left his little body. It was then that he was jokingly nicknamed the quiet one in contrast to his older brothers, which he seemed to embody tenfold as he grew up. With both little interest and little skill in most sports, he only ever found himself partaking in them because his brothers or his friends were. He could kick a football, catch a basketball and swing for a baseball, but there was never a guarantee that it would advance his teammates in any of the games he was playing, which was why he never found himself playing for any sort of team. It was clear to everyone around him that it was a thread he would follow into a career, which was how he found himself with a litany of offers from universities when the time came. It had always been his intention to go somewhere close to home, solely because he didn't want to leave the network of people he had around him. When he was accepted into a university in London after applying without ever thinking entry was a possibility that threw a spanner in those plans.

It was the combination of this news and his father confirming that after months of fights and hostility in the household, he would be divorcing Lucky's mother after finding out confirmation of her having an affair that Lucky found himself at a crossroads. Stay and try fix the ever deepening fracture in his family, or go and try to make something of his life without being weighed down by everyone around him.

Selfishly, he chose the latter.

The move to London was a difficult but necessary one for him so he told himself, and despite it all being his choice he missed his family dearly – or at least he missed the idea of his family, the one that existed before a bitter divorce had changed the landscape of it. No matter how long he stayed gone, the guilt of not being a part of his daughter's life ate him alive and only increased with time. Partying in college soon became a need rather than a way to let off steam, with both his drinking and his recreational drug use spiraling out of control until he almost flunked out in his third year. Gradually, he got himself back on the rails, but he still has to think about it before he takes a drink or accepts a line at a club.

During holidays and summer breaks, he chose to travel around Europe than to ever come home. There were too many ghosts there and too much he wasn't ready for. However, after having graduated and finally decided that England wasn't where he was going to start the next stage of his life, his decision on where he was meant to be and what he was supposed to do was made easy for him after a revelation from his best friend back home. The then four year old child that she had had after a one night stand between the pair was his, despite previous denials. The news was earth-shattering in its own way and it lead him straight back to the town that had raised him so he could help raise his daughter.

He may have flown the nest successfully, but there was some part of him that was still a home bird.

Adrian was born well off financially. His father was a successful NHL player and his mother a medical director. They afforded him a very comfortable lifestyle and created opportunities that many can only dream of. It kind of shows that he lives comfortably even by the way he acts sometimes and he doesn't even realize it.

From the time he was four years old, Adrian devoted his life to the sport of figure skating. He was a successful singles skater well into his early 20s, competing in the Olympic Games twice before switching to the ice dance field when the men's field became too competitive. It was a learning curve but he found a lot of success as an ice dancer, which he always attributed to his talented partner in interviews. They won a bronze Olympic medal and two US national championships.

While he had his influential skating platform, he did collaborations to support animal rescue clinics and animal hospitals. The Seaside Pet Rescue in Aurora Bay is one that he personally helped get funding for.

He studied veterinary technology while he was still competing (and due to this, it took him a lot longer to complete a degree but he finally did).

During the off seasons, he sometimes went on missions to help provide care and medical treatment to stray cat and dog colonies in Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand. Posting about it on social media got him popularity (though maybe looking pretty in the hot weather didn't hurt either).

BACKGROUND

      -  born in the city of aurora, illinois to two loving parents, faith , the second eldest, was born four months early. for those remaining four months, she was kept in the hospital.  during those four months, multiple complications arised. from having to have emergency surgery to fix a hole in her intestines, to getting sick. but she ended up surviving it all.

      - due to the huge amount of faith that her parents had on her surviving, they ended up naming her faith due to that. which was a good name for her.  to her parents, faith surviving was also a both a blessing and a miracle

      - her childhood years, despite the countless amounts of doctors appointments, was fairly normal as one would say. around the age of nine though, her parents moved the family to chicago due to her parents getting new jobs there. at first, it was hard for faith to adjust, but over time she grew to love the city.

   - there were a few times during her childhood that faith became very sick. the first was when she got the flu when she was six years old. she ended up having to be taken to the hospital due to how bad it was. she spent two days there to get fluids back into her body. the second was when she was  when she got pneumonia at the age of eight. she was there for a few days just so the doctors could keep an eye on her.

      - when it came to school, faith was always on top of everything. making sure to be the best she could. when she needed help though, she would turn to her older brother. which he always came through every time.

      - in her high school years, faith was more active. with being on yearbook, as well as being the president for student council. she was also a cheerleader too, which did surprise some people seeing as they never thought she would want to be one.

      - during her four years of high school, in the summers in between, she would volunteered at an animal rescue shelter in the city. it was then that she fell in love with taking care of animals.

   - when she wasn’t volunteering at the shelter, she was off traveling with her mother to mumbai for a few weeks. for faith, it was a way to connect with her mothers side of the family during those times she would go there.

      - when it came time for college, she ended up going to the university of california,  in davis, california. she studied in veterinary medicine for four years. .

      - returning home from college, faith got a job at paws life vetrinarian clinic. it was two years later that the former owner of the clinic passed it on to her. with her love of animals, she made an oath to always take care of them.

      -  that same year after taking over ownership of the clinic, she started to rescue animals with her mother. together with her, the two of them would nurse them back to health before getting them adopted into a loving family.

- now, years later, nothing too much has changed in her life. she's still that same girl most people know her to be.

“I am truly grateful for your concern for this animal, Mister and Missus Hars,” says Hank charitably, “but I assure you, Kit has a good home and we have her on record. She’s just got a nasty little habit of jumping fences, that’s all.”

The Hars gasp and complain a bit more, but eventually Hank chivvies them out, the receptionist Tanja assuring them that they really do know me, then Hank pulls me into the back room with one of the clinic’s leashes. The moment that we’re through the door and out of sight of the waiting room he unclips the leash from my collar and glares at me. Despite the fact that he’s one tall dude, colour me uninspired - after all, there’s rainbow tabby cats all over his scrubs and he wears a bowtie decorated with paw prints. Plus, he’s like family to me, almost a second father; we even celebrate Christmas together every year and I gave him a birthday present just last week. (An obnoxiously lurid set of new scrubs, of course.)

“Kitsune, you gotta stop getting yourself into so much trouble,” says Hank crossly. “What’d you even do to yourself, girl?”

With some effort, because doing so opposes my current cute ‘n fluffy form, I speak, “I got caught in a barbed wire fence. It was rather against letting me continue on my merry way.”

He rolls his eyes. “You know, there are safer ways of practicing your bloody shape shifting! Couldn’t you have waited for shutzhund tomorrow?”

Ahh, shutzhund. Some girls have volleyball, some girls have jogging and then there’s freaks like me who compete in the lovely German dog sport of mauling guys in heavily padded protective suits - as a dog. My team mate is even a real dog, Hank’s champion Russian bred German Shepherd Vlad, (who, if you’re wondering, does indeed kick my ass at Shutzhund.) Hank got me into it because he figured that since I insist on moving around on all fours and pretending more or less to be canine, I needed to learn how to defend myself that way. Thus far, it has helped me learn how to bark convincingly, which has proven incredibly entertaining.

“Work was so boring, I needed to go out for a run,” I say, extending my hind leg and wincing at the shallow gash in it. “Good thing I’ve had my tetanus shot, eh?”

“Aurora Peters, what season is it?” demands Hank, crossing his arms.

“Fall…?” I say, cocking my head to signal my what-are-you-getting-at because honestly I have no idea why he is asking this dumb question.

“Yes, it’s Fall - hunting season, Aurora! The time of year when a bunch of idiots with guns who don’t know a deer from a shadow are running around our fields and forests looking for wildlife to put bullets in! And what are you, currently, woman?” he snarks. 

I glance at myself, then bare my teeth in a smirk which I have been perfecting in front of my mirror. “Gorgeous.”

Hank looks heavenward, as if asking God for help with bettering my youthful lack of brain cells. “A wolf! And if they don’t mistake you for a wolf, which lots of idiots hate, they’ll mistake you for a bloody flaming coyote, which people hate even more! Do you want a bullet in your brain, woman? ‘cus I can’t fix that!”

He likes calling me ‘woman’ - it’s as if he’s trying to remind me that I am actually a human, a fact which I am quite painfully aware of, thank you. 

“Not particularly,” I say, “but I wasn’t really in a field -”

“It don’t matter!” snaps Hank. “Kitsune, you gotta stay in town right now! And wear a bloody reflective vest, you ninny - emulate dog instead of arrooo.”

I sniff, “I wear it when I am hiking, but I need someone to put it on for me and I was alone, so -”

“Couldn’t you have stopped by here? Or gotten Rick, anybody to put it on for you?”

I look at him blankly, silently admitting: this would have been smart.

“But I’m alone tonight, so how the heck would I get it off afterwards?” I ask shrewdly.

Cue another eye roll. “You come by here and I’d take it off for you, you know I’m here for another hour. Kit, why can’t you have a weekday hobby? Why do you have to spend every spare minute you have running naked around town?”

He’s right, actually; if I were to transform right now, I would be naked, a fact which many townspeople have witnessed, thanks to the first time that I was hit by a bicycle (bikes are my nemesis) and the good Samaritan cyclist tried to help me. When I spoke up to say that I had just been stunned and was fine, the cyclist had fainted. Me, being kind of an idiot, had transformed back to perform CPR if needed, thinking they were in cardiac arrest - and at that moment, a long line of kindergartners had walked past the park where we were with their teacher on the way to the pool, the kids discovering quite abruptly what boobs look like. I had been unable to concentrate enough to change back, so I had ran streaking for home, only for my embarrassment to become truly complete by the police officer who had stopped by to write me a ticket for public indecency that evening. It had not ended there - for weeks I had had the parents of the kindergartners being terribly rude to me and that was about the time when I opted to spend the rest of my secondary education at home. 

“Well, since you were dumb and forgot to bring by another set of clothes for circumstances like this from the last time that you swore you wouldn’t show up here like this, you can spend the rest of my shift hanging out with Vlad until I can drive you home,” determined Hank and he herded me into his office, where Vlad was quite happy to slobber all over my face. Tail clamped between my hindquarters to thwart Vlad’s mundane yet cherished canine hobby of butt sniffing, I turned back to the door, just as Hank was about to shut it. His eyebrows shunted low over his dark eyes and I nervously laid back my ears.

“Y’know, Kit, someday this shape shifting nonsense is going to get you into some real trouble, and I might not be there to help,” said Hank and with these forbidding words, he walks off, cheerfully calling a greeting to his next, real patient.

Unfortunately, he repeats this warning in some format every time I end up at his clinic on four legs - after all, that’s how we first met - so I don’t really listen to him. Instead, I proceed to horse around with Vlad.

Like an idiot.

New Faculty Joins OVC’s Department of Clinical Studies

Welcome to Dr. Allison Collier, who has recently joined the Ontario Veterinary College’s (OVC) Department of Clinical Studies.

Collier grew up in Aurora, Ontario and studied Biomedical Science at the University of Guelph from 2010 to 2013. She then began her career as a student veterinarian at the OVC, graduating with her DVM as part of the OVC Class of 2017.

Collier went on to complete a rotating internship at Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Services in Rochester, NY. During this internship, Collier worked with specialists in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Critical Care, Neurology and Ophthalmology. She then returned to OVC in 2018 to complete a three-year small animal internal medicine residency.

Collier’s research interests focus on small animal gastrointestinal disease. She is currently investigating how the gastrointestinal microbiota, the healthy microorganisms that live in the gut, may be altered with various diseases. Collier is also researching the use of fecal microbial transplant, the delivery of healthy fecal microbes to a diseased patient’s gastrointestinal tract, as a possible treatment for inflammatory bowel disease in canines.

Gastrointestinal health will be the main focus of her research as an Assistant Professor in OVC’s Department of Clinical Studies. Collier enjoys horseback riding and playing the piano, as well as spending time with her cat, Chester.
