I think I promised to @ you whenever I finally wrote something up about Hikari being autistic. I’m just gonna leave it pinned on my blog for now. It’s a little clumsy and poorly worded in parts, but still, you’re the reason I finally felt motivated to write it up! Thank you for encouraging that headcanon!

I made them look more like I headcanon them as in the second photo

reasons why hikari yagami is autistic because i Feel Like It:

1. didn't like communicating verbally when she was little, relying mostly on her whistle

2. sensitive to sounds/frequencies that other people aren't able to hear

3. has hyper-empathy

4. likely has depression, which is common in those with autism

5. relates mostly to animals, or in this case, digimon

6. there's (likely unintentional) symbolism in her receiving her digimon much later than the others, representing missing early development stages/being "a late bloomer"

7. her special interest is photography

8. because i said so

- Dedicated to my Grandmother C., Z”L*, (*May her memory be a Blessing) 1926 ~ August, 2015 (passed near 89 years old) - Jewish, she also lived through the years of the Holocaust, (1941~1945) and her entire Jewish family got safely through those years. [Not long before WWII ended, she met my Grandpa.] My grandmother was one of my closest family members. When I was little (around 8 years old myself when first watching), she wholeheartedly supported my strong interest in Adventures/Digimon when I was first getting into this series, even if she didn’t know anything about it, (other than small bits I told her) even she could see how much I loved it. (Because she was one of my closest family members, she was also the one who overall learnt the most about my health. When I was, few years after discovering Adventure as a child, diagnosed Autistic and with generalized Anxiety disorder as well, she continued to support me all throughout, educated herself & our other interconnected family about my conditions, and continuously encouraged my interests and growth.)

Original Posters [Mine] commentary: I made this quick A.M.V edit a handful of days ago to this gorgeous song by Miyano, one of my favorite JPN voice actors/singers, {You may know him as: Dent[o] in JPN Pocket Monsters, Tamaki in Ouran, Rin in Free!, Tokiya in Utano*Prince-sama (where this song comes from), Konoha, Haruka & “Clearing Eyes” in Kage-Pro, among many more} mainly made with thoughts of general appreciation for this series in mind. I also made it with thoughts of my Grandmother in mind, who passed late August 2015, (yes, August). Tri had been announced, but wouldn’t yet air until November. I didn’t start much more actively blogging about Digimon until a bit later on, starting from a couple years later, because I was still heavily grieving. However, I still enjoyed reblogging Digimon posts I enjoyed to other blogs I had at the time even in the pre-Tri and early Tri years.

This was made very quickly, so it’s not perfect, has minimal editing, and the 1st Adventure portion is straight from the final battle with no editing done to it, but it fit the music well enough, so I included it as-is for now. I’ll probably re-arrange scenes if I remake it later and include much more other, varied scenes from Adventure, (for example, during end of Yamato’s portion, I was also thinking of the Yamato&Sora+Jou scene from the end of Dark Masters Arc).

(^One of my favorite Adventure scenes regardless of personal favs) But until I can edit those in, I’m just leaving this as it is. The middle portion with 02 is edited slightly more timed to music. A major Tri ending spoiler for the final battle’s result appears during the end. Kizuna is not included in here as of yet, but it may be in the future, along with Adventure 2020. All of this will probably be rearranged in a remake overall, but I’m keeping the general themeing & feel as-is for now, along with the Tri ending scenes.

Because this was made in appreciation of this series and out of respect to and with thoughts of my grandmother, please be respectful when interacting with this post. Thank you.

Now that I’ve finished watching the first four seasons of Digimon again, I thought I would rank them from my favorite to least favorite:

1. Digimon Frontier: I know a lot of people disliked this season but this was the series that aired during my most difficult year of school (I was relentlessly bullied to the point where I was transferred to another school with about two months left of the school year) and it was one of the few things that got me through that school year. As a kid I thought it was really cool that the kids could turn into Digimon and I could relate to ALL the main characters. Even as an adult I still really enjoy Frontier (and some of the dialogue hits a little too close to home) and I really like the character development all the kids went through. Favorite Character: Kouji, least favorite: none, there wasn’t a single character I disliked.  The ending has never NOT made my cry.

2 (tie). Digimon Adventure: Loved it as a 9 year old, still love it as a 30 year old. The first episode I ever watched was the episode where Piyomon evolved for the first time and after that first episode I was completely hooked. It was nice to see a female character save the day for a change. I wanted to be friends with all the characters. And the ending made me cry. Favorite character: Takeru and Hikari, Least Favorite: None.

2 (Tie). Digimon Adventure 02: Yeah, the writing could have been better but I still really liked this season. Granted I was annoyed that the kids didn’t want to kill any of their more dangerous enemies I also wasn’t too fond of the epilogue but honestly who was. I still wanted to be friends with all of them. And the ending made me SOB. Favorite Character: All of them.   

4. Digimon Tamers: I just couldn’t get into it. I made several attempts to watch it and only finished it when it first aired and recently. There were no characters I could relate to as a kid and as a kid I really didn’t like how they moved on from the Adventure kids (I was an autistic 11 year old who didn’t like change when I first watched it). I feel like the story dragged too much, and there wasn’t enough action (I was a tiny but feral child who thrived on “violent” action-filled cartoons) I mean it was alright, then ending made me sob like a baby (And I really wish they hadn’t gone that route but it is what it is). I’m not saying it was bad, it just wasn’t my thing. Favorite character: Ruki/Rika (I wanted to BE her), Least favorite: Hirokazu/Kazu and Kenta (I found them annoying and kinda dead weight characters)

Good Eva Screencaps

I don’t want to badger my friend with any more infodumping for tonight so I’m just gonna post my eva ramblings here. These are all from episode 9!

Anyway, there are so many good shots in eva, especially the early episodes where the tone was still relatively comedic.

I love the times when eva goes off model. Asuka’s giant face is just so goddamn hilarious.

I totally forgot that Misato and Rei canonically spent some time together, however short it may be!

There is so much going on in this shot. SO much attention to detail! Nobody’s standing idly by. Asuka has her trademark smug & indignant expression, Shinji’s curiously peeking outside the door, Toji’s talking to Misato while gesturing back to the chaos behind him, and Kensuke & Hikari and showing their horror at the situation in their own ways. 

There’s much detail in this shot too. Hikari is holding Pen-Pen, and she later adopts him in episode 23 or 24 iirc. Rei is reading or writing on something on the clipboard (homework, maybe?) Misato is watching Shinji & Asuka train, and Kensuke & Toji are just listening to Misato.

Misato’s “Oh really?” face in response to Asuka ranting about Shinji combined with Rei calmly putting away her homework creates an atmosphere of smugness rivaled only by Asuka herself. But honestly? On a more serious note, this scene is where the viewer starts to get an inkling of understanding that Misato doesn’t really care about Asuka that much. Instead of trying to get her to calm down, she belittles Asuka in front of her peers.

Misato has two working remotes for one television, apparently.How does this work? Typically when a TV has two remotes they’re not used for the same purpose...in this case, switching channels. Wouldn’t the TV get overloaded with info and listen to only one remote or possibly neither? I wonder what channels they were fighting over anyway.

Ritsuko is my favorite out of all the adults in Evangelion. Imo she’s undeniably autistic coded & in the anime she’s heavily implied to be a lesbian. I love seeing Ritsuko outside of her labcoat & in her glasses. She was designed to be the “sexy” character, so it’s cool to see her wearing dorky mid-90s glasses and no earrings.

I just really like this shot. Ritskuo’s in it, for one. This is also one of the comparatively few times we see Kaji at NERV alongside Misato and Ritsuko. Of course, canon lesbian Maya is in this shot too so what’s not to love, right? 

I need to crop Ritsuko’s face and use it as a reaction image.

Everyone’s reaction to Unit 01 & Unit 02 is great here. Kaji’s laughing, Maya’s covering her mouth while laughing, Misato & Aoba are in shock, I can’t see Hyuga’s face because of the subtitles but I’m sure it’s great, and let’s not forget Ritsuko’s iconic shoulder shrug  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Asuka is so powerful she punched Shinji through the phone. And he deserves it for trying to sexually assault her last night!

my adhd hell brain manifests in part as Obsessively Keeping Lists so i don’t flat-out forget my own headcanons so here’s tentatively what i’m thinking in terms of neurodiverse chosen children

things i’m p solid on:

takeru: ptsd (also abandonment issues tbh)

joe: generalized anxiety 

miyako: adhd (probably combined-type) - shoutout to @knifeoframens because we talked about this once

things i’m mostly settled on but still fiddling with:

taichi: ptsd but not to the degree of takeru (i can account for basically all the criteria but i’m not sure if he displays all the symptoms at the same time/close enough together chronologically to count from a diagnostic perspective??? idk)

yamato: anxiety? depression? idk much about avpd but maybe that from what i do know? at least in adventure, might have gotten a handle on it by 02/tri

sora: mild anxiety or depressive episodes? i don’t personally read her as struggling as much w/ that as yamato but she does tend to internalize better than he does so

still kicking around:

koushiro: asperger’s/ASD? my roommate also has tossed out OCD with mostly obsessive symptoms and not as many compulsive ones

i feel like those could account for his social anxiety in 01 and he doesn’t have social anxiety disorder by itself

mimi: ??? survivor’s guilt at least in 01 but i don’t remember if this shows up in 02 (it definitely doesn’t show up in tri but though i do like tri for the most part i also do what i want)

also maaaaaybe subclinical inattentive-type adhd but i don’t have an argument so much as a Vague Vibe u feel

hikari: some form of depression? i have seen a lot of autistic hikari hcs and would really like to hear about those (because i do see where i think y’all are coming from what with her being pretty nonverbal as a child and all iirc)

as far as i can tell daisuke and iori are the only chosen i think of as neurotypical or can’t think of any behaviors that would meet the criteria for anything which is. ha. like two (2) of your faves are neurotypical.

I've seen that post around before and like, yeah, I want to. I also believe fan base history + archival is super important. (There's a ton of stuff I've saved and archived from Adv-02, Frontier, etc fan bases over time too, including sections of many of my old mutuals' Adventure fics and O.C. site things, though I also don't have 'everything' there since I usually saved stuff just 'as I went'.)

I want to re-post everything I created (maybe even some stuff r.p.'d elsewhere, if I can manage to effectively 'summarize' all that somehow) before 2k10~2k15~ on This Site especially.

... But yeah it can be difficult. (Probably more than some people may realize.)

Some of my stuff is on my old laptop which is currently out of commission rn until it gets fixed, (it may not even GET fixed - it could be a hard drive crash - the power button isn't powering it) but a lot of the rest (of stuff that was on my site specifically) is still archived /somewhere/ or otherwise literally on my old 02 O.C. shrine C.D. Like I literally have a whole C.D. where the site still exists offline (You just can't view the backgrounds because it's not 'online' so to speak, so the white text is on a white background and I have to highlight to read it, until I fix everything via a lot of re-uploding and re-writing of some 25+ pages including the 'character profiles' sections that I also have to re-write for all Adventure + 02 Chosen.)

... But also, like, I made that site when I was literally Young Me.

I've found out a lot about myself since and a lot of my perspectives have completely changed for the better. But even if I re-created the whole site from scratch, it'd just be ... different. Now. I don't really know how to explain it well.

A lot of the imgs I used back then were much lower quality. I'll have to go through and re-cap everything on my own time, and even then... it'd feel different, wouldn't it? The low-quality caps I borrowed from other sites back then who allowed free use, those were kind of what made the feel of the site. That kind of thing.

So I could double the amount of pages - which would take a lot more work - a high quality, polished version; and the original version with the low quality caps. But even then...

Some sections would still have to change completely, just because I've grown and my mentality has changed from what I originally wrote.

Even then, the shrine is my own personal thing, I can 'archive' it in my own time and just use it to store my own works, caps, etc...

I completely lost some of my 1st D.G.M.N a.m.v.s as it was. The original Frontier "Warriors" one is completely gone. (The one I made since was a re-make going purely by my own memory of scenes and timings I likely initially included.) The one (two?) I made for Takuya separately, I never found again. The experimental other few D.G.M.N and super early Y.G.O D.M. A.M.V.s (possibly also a Sonic one or two) were also gone.

My 2 Naruto A.M.V.s got deleted when a sweep of purges happened, and at one point both got re-uploaded by other fans without full credit to me, then deleted from those fans' accts when those accts got purged ? /again/ and I still, between multiple comp + external hard-drive failings, never got the back-ups saved in time. (Even those 2 Naruto A.M.V.s were super experimental and mainly just emotional timing so used a lot of 'larger', un-trimmed clips. But I still appreciated my attempts with those and wish I had them back, especially since I never went back to making Naruto stuff again after.)

Idek. I just have some conflicting feelings still.

It's all kind of why I just started back up with immediately focusing on Koushiro post-all That happening. "One Week" was the most 'recent' A.M.V. I had available at the time and I really wanted it up-loaded, along with my Taichi A.M.V. But even then, my love for Koushiro's chara was definitely there, having snuck up from the days of the O.C. site to kick me from behind. I'm still upset I didn't get to get to Koushiro's full character arc in my O.C.s story way back in the day, when Koushiro had a lot more active positivity and support by other fans (and wasn't actively being constantly re-written and sidelined out of Koushiro's own canon story by them). It was semi re-written using inspiration from the original outline in "The Past World" and even then it's only in sections still.

I don't really know where I'm going with these thoughts.

Maybe I'll archive what I can someday, but... yeah.
