man this morning im so sad that Limbus is a gacha, obviously i'd prefer that to it not existing at all. and i do not fault project moon at all for the decision. This industry sucks and gacha is the safe way of securing funding. It makes sense for an indie studio of 20 whole people.
but sitting here, having spent all my saved up gacha resources since launch on an attempt on the New Shiny Toy and not having got it, It's snapped me out of the honeymoon phase a little. I love this game, i love this world, i love the writing, i love the characters.
But getting a big reminder of how Gacha is fundamentally predatory and that this will likely happen again hurts. I played a ton of a Gacha before getting into ProjMoon's games and god was LCorp and Ruina back to back such breaths of fresh air. Two completed, finished pieces of art that quickly rose to be some of my favorite games of all time. I'm pretty sure i fell off of Gacha due to those games completely hooking me.
and I want more! Project Moon makes incredible stuff! I wanna support these people and their art. But even if Limbus is much more generous and skirts a good chunk of icky gacha stuff, it still is one at the end of the day. So now i'm faced with the choice of: don't get to experience more of the media i've fallen in love with, or be subjected to the inherently manipulative practices of live-service games.
I'm going with the latter, obviously. Limbus is still a very good game and i want to support Project Moon. But it's definitely going to sting a tiny bit knowing that the game will never be as good as it could've been if it was a complete product like their previous two entries.

Higher disbursement scheme for PLI scheme
The official said, “Disbursement of production-linked incentives (PLI) for white goods (AC and LED lights) would start this month and that would push the amount of disbursement, which was only Rs 2,900 crore till March 2023.”
After the identification of sectors, a combined note for approval from the Union Cabinet will be sent. The change in disbursement includes an extension of time for Pharma sectors, and addition of products in some sectors. “Labor Institute Meets,” Kingston Whig-Standard. March 2, 1942. Page 4. ---- Smashing Of Fascism One War Aim ---- Speaking at the evening session of the Labor Institute in the Sons of England Hall on Sunday on the topic "What Are We Fighting For?” Dr. Gregory Vlastos, department of philosophy, Queen's University, said Fascism betrayed labor, while under democracy, the workers had the right to organize.
Under a Fascist regime, said the speaker, the worker was “but a pawn.” Hitler had but contempt for the masses and he betrayed labor shortly after coming Into power by imprisoning the union leaders and freezing wages at a rate which was lower than existed in Germany during the depression years, he stated.
A second reason the war Is being fought was for a “new order,” said Dr. Vlastos, maintaining that "Fascism is a symptom of the disease of the old order and if it persists will breed similar systems.” It was therefore not enough merely to defeat Fascism.
Fascism Everywhere He also pointed out that Fascism was not confined to Germany and Italy but has world significance and “will crop up anywhere.”
Appealing for “solidarity” within the ranks of labor and as a basis for the post war world, Dr. Vlastos said that one of the causes of the war was a lack of solidarity. “It was every man for himself and every nation for itself. There was individualism in its purest sense,” he said.
"The world ahead,” continued the speaker, “has to be built on a basis on which relatively large and wealthy nations can enter upon collective security to protect the smaller nations.”
Similarly, within nations, the individual would have to accept responsibility for his neighbors, said Dr. Vlastos, and labor must not be treated as a commodity but should become partners in industry.
Solidarity Needed He told the audience there must be solidarity in labor without regard for race or creed and labor should make demands for the common good of all.
Concluding, Dr. Vlastos said that after solidarity had been established, it should be carried by the workers throughout the world. “There has been a most malicious propaganda against this,” he said declaring tor co-operation in the future between Canadians and American unions with the conquered peoples of Europe and “indeed with the German people who will be liberated.”
The speaker was introduced and thanked by Alex Sorgat, secretary of the Trades and Labor Council, Kingston. A general discussion followed on the points brought out by the three speakers at the afternoon and evening sessions led by Drummond Wren of Toronto, general secretary of the Workers' Educational Association of Canada.
The institute was sponsored by the Workers' Educational Association of Canada and the Department of University Extension, Queen’s University.  ---- ‘Over All’ Labor Plan Discussed ---- An “overall” plan for labor's part In wartime production was discussed thoroughly when the Labor Institute convened in the Sons of England Hall, Sunday afternoon and evening. The assembly was sponsored by the Workers’ Educational Association of Canada and the Department of University Extension, Queen’s University.
Although many of the audience participated in the discussion, principal speakers were Harold J. Beveridge, liaison economist between the Wartime Prices and Trade Board and the National War Labor Board, Ottawa; Robert Stacey, St. Catharines, senior international representative of the United Automobile Workers; and Dr. Gregory Vlastos, Department of Philosophy, Queen’s University.
Under the chairmanship of R. M. Winters, Queen's University, the afternoon session opened with a brief address by Dean Matheson of the faculty of Arts.
Dean Matheson expressed the hope that the Institute would succeed in getting down to the fundamentals in the problem of wartime production.
Opening his address, Mr. Beveridge said that primarily the end of wartime production was a matter of time. “If we plan to win the war in 1942 our production methods will be different than if we expect to win in 1952 in which case 'business as usual’ would be quite all right,” he said.
Main Features Referring to labor supply the visiting economist said wage rates and allocation of labor to the most essential Industries were the most important features.
Mr. Beveridge mentioned the manipulation of wage rates as a means to attract workers from non-essential to essential industries and to obtain the highest rate of production from the workers.
“Another method in the offing,” he stated, “is the freezing of workers to their jobs.”
Among labor problems facing the Government, Mr. Beveridge mentioned total labor supply, unemployment, the Introduction of women as workers, and training of labor— the young in schools and industries, in actual operating, in re-training of over-age workers, and those In non-essential production.
The speaker revealed that the Government is at the present time studying methods employed in Britain, Australia, and Russia for the introduction of women to war industries.
Of civilian industries, Mr. Beveridge stressed the need for economy and simplification. The elimination of inefficient producers, concentration of production, fewer and bigger management units, manipulation of wage rates, and the keeping of labor in civilian industries were mentioned as present problems facing students of labor condition.
Difficulties Discussed Enlarging on the difficulties encountered by freezing the wage rate, the liaison economist from Ottawa said it was found to take away the incentive to produce hard and if salaries were pegged to a low level, it caused workers to leave for more remunerative positions.
"Freezing does not meet the problem,” asserted Mr. Beveridge.
In an open discussion which followed the brief address, many causes for a production below the maximum possible were given. These Included the policy of voluntary enlistment, depleting labor man-hours lost through an inadequate supply of materials.
Summing up, the facts as presented by the workers of the audience, Mr. Beveridge said he believed the only solution lay in labor representation in plants, industry, on boards and even in the Government, where delegates might be allowed to participate in the formulation of broad political policies. T
he Government is suffering in its study of the problem, the gathering was told, by the inability to obtain facts and figures from employers because no labor representative is available to command the facts.
Robert Stacey Introduced by Drummond Wren, general secretary, Workers’ Educational Association of Canada, Robert Stacey, UAW senior international representative, said: “In our union we have attempted to formulate a definite plan to increase war production, that is, labor representation in almost every directional phase of the war effort.”
“Canada's war effort at the present time is not what it could be,” he asserted adding “not by a jugful.” As contrast Mr. Stacey gave the facts of British labor workers organized and unions there “don't have to battle the Government and employers for permission to assist in the war effort.”
“Here,” he declared, "we are not allowed so far— by management or Government— to take part in these things.”
Citing the spread in the wages for men doing identical work in various plants in Ontario, Mr. Stacey revealed that although the cost-of-living spread in the centres mentioned was no more than 10 per cent, the spread of wages for the same job in the same essential industries in different plants was about 100 per cent.

Okay. I've been playing Tokyo Debunker today, since the release happened to catch me on a day when all I'd planned to do was write fanfiction. I just finished reading the game story prologue (it was longer than expected!), so here's a review type post. If you're reading this post not having seen a single thing about this game: it's a story-based joseimuke gacha mobile game that just released globally today. It's about a girl who suddenly finds herself attending a magic school and mingling with elite, superhuman students known as ghouls. If you look in the tumblr tag for the game you'll see what appears to be a completely different game from 2019 or so: they retooled it completely midway through development, changing just about everything about it due to "escalating competition within the gaming industry."
Tumblr media
I'll talk about how this looks like a blatant twst clone at the end.
Starting with the positive: The story is charming. I enjoyed it thoroughly the entire time and am excited to read more. The mix between visual novel segments and motion comics was really nice--it broke things up and added a lot of oomph to the action or atmospheric scenes that visual novels generally lack. I like the art in the comic parts a lot. the live2d in the visual novel parts is... passable. Tone-wise, I think the story was a little bit all over the place and would like to see more of the horror that it opened on, but I didn't mind the comedic direction it went in either. The translation is completely seamless. The characters so far all have unique voices and are just super fun and cute. Of the ones who've had larger roles in the story so far, there's not a single one I dislike. It's all fully voiced in Japanese and the acting is solid. (I don't recognize any voices, and can't seem to find any seiyuu credits, so it seems they're not big names, but they deliver nonetheless.) Kaito in particular I found I was laughing at his lines a ton, both the voicing and the writing.
Tumblr media
He's looking for a girlfriend btw. Spreading the word.
The problem is like. The gameplay is the worst dark-pattern microtransaction-riddled bullshit I've ever seen. Hundred passive timers going at all times. Fifty different item-currencies. Trying to get you to spend absurd amounts of real world money at every turn. There's like five different indicators that take you to various real-money shop items that I don't know how to dismiss the indicator, I guess you just have to spend money, wtaf. Bajillion different interlocking systems mean you have zero sense of relative value of all the different item-currencies. I did over the course of the day get enough diamonds for one ten-pull, which I haven't used yet. Buying enough diamonds for a ten-pull costs a bit under $60 (presumably USD, but there's a chance the interface is automatically making that CAD for me--not gonna spend the money to check lmfao), with an SSR rate of 1%. BULLSHIIIIIT.
Tumblr media
There's like a goddamn thousand-word essay explaining the dozen different types of character upgrades and equippables and equippables for the equippables!! Bad! Bad game design! That's just overcomplicating bullshit to trick people into thinking they're doing something other than clicking button to make number go up! That is not gameplay!
In terms of the actual gameplay, there is none. The battle system is full auto. There might be teambuilding, but from what I've seen so far, most of that consists of hoping you pull good cards from gacha and then clicking button to make number go up. There's occasional rhythm segments but there's no original music, it's just remixes of public domain classical music lmao. I'd describe the rhythm gameplay as "at least more engaging than twisted wonderland's," which is not a high bar
Tumblr media
At least there's a cat in the rhythm bit.
And like, ok, I gotta remark on how derivative it is. Like I mentioned in my post earlier, this game is unabashedly aping twisted wonderland's setting and aesthetic. (That said, most of the stuff it steals from twst is magic school stuff that twst also basically stole from Harry Potter, so...?) However, it isn't exactly like twst: in this one, the characters say fuck a lot and bleed all over the place and do violence. Basically, the tone is a fair bit more adult than twst's kid-friendly vibe. (Not, like, adult adult, and I probably wouldn't even call it dark--it's still rated Teen lol. Just more adult than twst.)
Rather than just being students at magic school, the ghouls also go out into the mundane world to go on missions where they fight and investigate monsters and cryptids. Honestly, the magic school setting feels pretty tacked-on. The things that are enjoyable about this would've been just as enjoyable in about any other setting--you can tell this whole aspect was a late trend-chasing addition, lmao. So, yeah, it's blatantly copying twst to try to steal some players, but... Eh, I found myself not caring that much. Someone more (or less) into twst than me may find it grating.
Character-wise, eh, sure, yeah, they're a bit derivative in that aspect too, but it's a joseimuke game, the characters are always derivative. Thus far the writing & execution has been solid enough that I didn't care if they were tropey. If I were to compare it to something else, I'd say the relationship between the protagonist and the ghouls feels more like that of the sage and wizards in mahoyaku than anything from twst. There's some mystery in exactly what "ghouls" are and their place in this world that has me intrigued and wanting to know more about this setting and how each of the characters feels about it. I have a bad habit of getting my hopes up for stories that put big ideas on the table and then being disappointed when they don't follow through in a way that lives up to my expectations, though.
So, my final verdict: I kind of just hope someone uploads all the story segments right onto youtube so nobody has to deal with the dogshit predatory game to get the genuinely decent story lol. Give it a play just for the story if you have faith in your ability to resist dark patterns. Avoid at all costs if you know you're vulnerable to gacha, microtransactions, or timesinks.

rambled this out because I didn't have inflight wifi otw home and the turbulence was too crazy to draw
Buying the ticket
erm so they only dropped the tickets like slightly less than a month before lol kinda insane
The concert tickets were sold on Damai so you need a CN number or know/pay someone with one who'd buy it for you which is what I did by recommendation (A tier 1280 + 400 'service fee' [apparently it would have been cheaper if they only helped you half way or something but i wasnt gonna risk running into a payment hiccup so]) Iirc they sold it in two batches but I don't remember the ratio split between first and second wave…
I got a ticket for 5/5's afternoon show (so the second last performance), I DID meet an oomf who said they managed to snag a ticket for themselves on their own (without a Professional Ticket Snatcher) so its not too impossible to attain on your own I think??? (I didn't get a CN number until like 2 days before I flew back home soo)
Professional Ticket what?? Uhhh apparently there's a whole industry/scene for this you look for listings on xianyu/taobao etc for people to buy on your behalf, you have to give them your real name and identification number (so for foreigners it'd be your passport number) for verification purposes during entry so yknow yea
Tumblr media Tumblr media
getting there
You could cab directly to the venue but my friend signed us up for the free shuttle bus (they had freebies last year but not this time) and before we boarded they gave us like free water and bread (apparently free raincoats too on rainy days) which was nice of them but also insane because. the venue doesn't allow you to bring food/drinks in so a lot of people were leaving A LOT of unopened bottles near the gate and I saw a venue staff just throwing them all into the bin (HOPEFULLY JUST TO CARRY THEM AWAY IN ONE GO AND NOT FOR STRAIGHT DISPOSAL….) They drop you off near the venue but you don't go in directly, there's a 'Doctor break room' where most people are seated waiting to be ushered in batches into the venue, but also a lot of people standing around on one side of the room swapping/offering merch
Tumblr media
merch swap
ive been told this is a very concert culture thing but i feel like its kind of different because a lot of these are so high quality ike…you could sell them at Artist Alleys but here they are just distributing for free if you have a E2 60 blorbo lmao or whatever (there seems to be a tiny…? minority that prints official art but most of them seem to be handdrawn/made)
i was too unprepared for this lol i did exchange some of my old stickers (missed out on a collapsal plastic fan bc my brain lagged when the guy asked me and i went to my auto 'sorry i dont have any merch' response' :( regretted this bc the room got a little hot from the amount of people in there and i was wearing like 3 layers with that fan on my mind)
from people watching a lot of trades are arranged beforehand on weibo/other sites unless you're willing to yell WHO WANTS TO TRADEEE/anyone wants freebies (a lot of people were also wearing 'Feel Free to Swap Merch/Ask for Freebies' tags) which i was definitely not brave enough to do lol… met up with an oomf i got to know from last dec when i attended an arknights only and they gave me some birbs and charms (bottom of post), there was someone who got a free LGD zine and charm from me bc i posted on wb that id give a free copy to anyone with a Mod 3 swire/swummer LMFAO
I had 2 more people to meet but, uhhh so I bought an esim for mobile data and it would intermittently lose signal here and there which was a little annoying when getting coffee but it just died entirely when i reached the venue and it was kind of Dire because i was waiting for one more friend who was coming over from the fes and i couldn't contact them lmao. told the friend i came with to go in first because I thought if my food got confiscated at least my oomf could see it beforehand LOL
waited outside in a light drizzle for an hour trying to trouble shoot my data to no avail and ended up borrowing a staff's wifi hotspot to get my entry qr code (I actually bought a second data roaming plan on my local sim but i quite stupidly did not check the country coverage and only learned later that night that 'Asia' doesn't cover China kuxiao) she was so nice i was (bow emoji) so sorry to trouble you im a stupid gaijin and she was like no its ok enjoy shanghai!! pien
Tumblr media
spent a good 30min next to this board praying for data to no avail
the show
Tumblr media
erm anyway because of that clownery above i more or less missed the first piece (the one w the goated hoho) but at least i wasnt the guy next to me who went for a bathroom break right before starset came up
The live singing this year was definitely an improvement I think… I can't really remember the setlist off the top of my head but I'm sure someone else has already listed it out, there were a couple of new pieces that weren't related to the concert groups like a Babel/Kazdel?? one sung in Latin, a Victoria…? one (in victorian ofc) also an Amiya (? just remembering by the visuals they used lol) one in Japanese
ohh yeah so almost every track would start with like a faction logo transitioning in from 3d to 2d which was cool but also amusing because it was honestly bringing quite the 'I will Make Your Company Logo Into 3D Fiverr' vibes
Since I missed the first piece idk if any of The Dreamer(s) got 3D models but The Pilgrim(s why are they all singular) had Kaltsit playing on that piano (there was also a replica of that piano on stage the white one complete with 'Arknights' text on it lmao) and Siege being cool running around in 3D (and ofc Eureka during her denpa number) it was very cool but man... its a pity the other characters in the group just get their live2d png during the beginning and effectively get sidelined lool compared to say Phenomenal Agents idk if i like this tradeoff but that eureka bit was so good sheesh #NOVAFIVE⭐ULTRALIVESWEEP
The other stuff was really great too looking at you Lone Trail medley…!!!!! I might be wrong but I... assume... you're encouraged to karaoke bc they always show the lyrics on screen… I couldn't even hear myself anyway but it was very fun singing songs you can't get on joysound/etc with a whole crowd going at it too (even if most of them would only sing 1-2 lines of the chorus)
Mary Clare did Radiant (they had the lyrics scrolling on the sides very cool) and iirc the Throne group's song...? Radiant was so fun live
Starset did Monster > Telescope and when the latter ended they were like Bye! and we(?) started yelling ENCORE--awkwardly because idk how they do it here (I was half expecting it to be JP style 'an-call-roo' but a bunch of us just yelled en-core en-core here and there until they returned to perform Infected) speaking of yelling.. between every piece when they had to switch sets people would just yell memes or skill names (like Dage's) to pass the time or sth i barely caught half of whatever they were memeing about
did i forget to mention anything else uhhh originium rock turntable for Guide Ahead's boss theme/Dossoles Lobby and they had IS4 medley live throat singing very cool also the dancers they got for silbenherze's boss theme good stuff...
iirc after starset was like a behind the scenes video of how HG prepared for AS and a recorded lowlight video saying some stuff that i forgot LOL just some thank you message basically. 9.5/10 bc no missy/shu EP live
Tumblr media
i just realised i forgot to display all the merch from the A tier ticket but w/e. light stick photo ft. merch swaps/gifts from friends and strangers 🥹 (the iffy lenticular card was literally dropped into my bag by an iffy coser (wearing the LT outfit..?!) while waiting for the cab LMAO)

First day!
This shirt is my go-to first day / look presentable on camera shirt.
My laptop is so nice. It's nicer than the one at my last full-time gig, which was the gigantic auto manufacturer that attempted to fuck me over. My boss got me 2 monitors. Like what?! The guy who I'm replacing told her I'd need them. I've gotten used to not using an external monitor at all. I'm very much a mobile laptop kinda gal.
And the goal is to train me but not rush it. I have 12 weeks of training which isn't set in stone in that it could go a bit longer if necessary because the guy isn't retiring until the end of January 2024. What?? People who are actually PLANNING? In advance???? This is so rare for me.
I felt really uneasy at the last gig. With being so burnt out from the health plan company from hell and having all the grief and medical trauma I had not processed, l thought it was just that. I think my body was warning me about that place but I couldn't trust my own signals because I was just a shell of a person. I could feel that I didn't fit but thought it was just the newness of a different industry after almost 2 decades in healthcare.
It wasn't until they did the reorganization that I really knew it was a mistake because that showed how careless/clueless that manager was. He tried to make me responsible for 3 database developer's worth of work when I barely knew the system at 78 days in. Tried to make me responsible for a different application I had no knowledge of to be on-call for it and be the SME. When I mentioned the job was now a very different job than what I interviewed for, his first instinct was to laugh and agree but then tried to save face. I showed him I was not the one.
The music gig is a fit. Totally different industry but I don't feel uneasy there. It's super flexible and a lot of fun for me.
This also feels like a fit in terms of the people I've met so far. I know I've yet to meet the people I don't work with every day and that will really be the telling part. I'm prepared to deal with some annoying bullshit because that's just the nature of dealing with the government aspect of American healthcare .
But yeah, I'm cautiously optimistic about this. It's really rare to find a situation in IT healthcare where you're not thrown into the deep end.

Lies of P has swept the game awards in their native south korea, including GOTY!!
instagram
from what I can read, They have taken 6 awards, (winning every category they were nominated in, I'm assuming), including Game of the Year. To be very fair, this video mentions that the gaming industry in Korea is kind of oversaturated with P2W, mobile, and MMORPG titles, so Lies taking the sweep was not so unexpected so to speak. Still, it was deservedly a sweep. [it's a good video, you can turn on auto-translate to watch it in english like I have.]
youtube
The Game awards are kind of like the oscars, and from what I gather this is either a very rare time, or perhaps even the first ever, that korean titles have really gone in consideration (except for a GOTY nomination in 2017 for the FPS PUBG). So, along with Nexon for Dave the Diver (which is nominated for best Independent, strangely enough), not only are LoP team going to be representing their company, they are going to be representing their country. I can imagine that it's stressful and burdensome, but it's an honour to be nominated in of itself, regardless of the outcome.
I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE LOP TEAM AT TGA AHH!! It's gonna be fun.
Lies of P getting mainstream media coverage in Korea ->
Mail Ilbo
LoP on Yonhap news
LoP were also nominated at Golden Joystick awards [which were apparently a disaster]. I haven't got the time yet to watch the VOD to see if I can spot the LoP team, but they lost Best Art Direction to Larian Studios (i'm sure it was deserved.)
I don't know if yall are even interested in some of this IRL stuff but I have some other posts written up about some of the IRL impacts of LoP, just because I personally find it interesting.

@concealed-carrie recently described the Kontio as the sexiest thing to roll of an IS production line and I'd like to dispute that. In part because the Kontio is a Ghost Bear design, and in part because I have another love.
Tumblr media
In the wake of the Clan Invasion, as the industrial potential of the Inner Sphere finally began to turn back into industrial reality, an agricultural conglomerate in the Free Worlds League signed the ink on the contracts to spin up a new military supply subdivision and sent out proposals for their first Battlemech design. The initial reaction from pundits and industry experts was one of derision- Curtis Hydroponics would be unlikely to produce anything more than a lightly armed water tank. But, in the tradition of an old terran tractor company scorned for its inability to produce anything of high quality, Curtiss Militech shocked their competition when they unveiled their design, the Wraith.
Tumblr media
The TR1 Wraith is an elegant, if brutally simple, concept. 8.5 tons of ferro fibrous armor provides the 55 ton endosteel chassis with adequate protection for its massive, beating heart, an LVT 385 XL fusion engine. This allows the Wraith to run at 119kmph and jump 210 meters in a single bound. The design leverages that mobility well, with a pair of medium pulse lasers and a large pulse laser mounted in the arms it can easily outflank and engage most mechs at close range before their pilots have time to react, the light armament being made up for by the ease with which you can backstab enemies. The mech's most significant flaw is its cooling (or lack there-of)- the Wraith cannot alpha strike on a full-length jump without slowing its ground speed, and generally wants to strafe its enemy in lightning fast passes before jumping to safety.
Tumblr media
I can't really understate how blisteringly annoying this thing is to fight in Classic Battletech. Being able to jump 7 hexes means you build a +4 tmm while you only shoot at a +3, which can largely be negated by the pulse bonuses of the Wraith's guns. This thing won't do a lot of damage, but the damage it does will frequently count in outsized ways and your opponent will have to tear their hair out trying to hunt down a 1290ish BV mech with massed fire that isn't hitting elsewhere. It's also just a dead sexy design- all sharp angles and curves and arches with that deep cowl for the head. It's a design that screams sleek, dagger-like menace that perfectly matches its use-case in game. The big, spooky skull that's painted onto the one in TRO:3055 certainly doesn't hurt, either. I love it to pieces, and it's basically an auto-include in all of my IS forces.

Researchers have developed a new mechanism to make water droplets slip off surfaces, described in a paper published in Nature Chemistry. The discovery challenges existing ideas about friction between solid surfaces and water and opens up a new avenue for studying droplet slipperiness at the molecular level. The new technique has applications in a range of fields, including plumbing, optics, and the auto and maritime industries. All around us, water is always interacting with solid surfaces. Cooking, transportation, optics and hundreds of other technologies are affected by how water sticks to surfaces or slides off them. Understanding the molecular dynamics of these microscopic droplets helps scientists and engineers find ways to improve many household and industrial technologies. Liquid-like surfaces are a new type of droplet-repellent surface that offer many technical benefits over traditional approaches -- a topic recently reviewed in Nature Reviews Chemistry by Aalto University professor Robin Ras. They have molecular layers that are highly mobile yet covalently tethered to the substrate, giving solid surfaces a liquid-like quality that acts like a layer of lubricant between the water droplets and the surface itself. A research team led by Ras used a specially-designed reactor to create a liquid-like layer of molecules, called self-assembled monolayers (SAMs), on top of a silicon surface.

Have fun!
This whole e-mobility thing is a complete flop in Germany. The auto industry is making incredible losses due to lower market demand. Numerous jobs were lost, also because the engines of electric cars require fewer suppliers. Service providers such as car rental companies like Hertz are now significantly reducing their number of electric cars after making heavy losses on them.
And ultimately the electricity has to come from somewhere! Therefore, from a physical point of view, it is pretty idiotic because it means much more energy loss to first convert fossil raw materials into electricity to charge car batteries instead of burning them directly in the engine. Furthermore, the batteries are quite harmful to the environment. In Africa, children have to work in mines to extract the rare earths for battery production, which the West wants to buy cheaply in bulk.
But it shows that the US government is also completely externally controlled; otherwise they would not act in the spirit of the green redesign of the global economy, as conceived and promoted by the BlackRock company, hoping for many new investment and speculative toys, with huge new markets to browse, all subsidized by taxpayers, as the green transformation is not profitable without state aid. It's theft, nothing else.
Therefore, it shouldn't surprise me that they now want to transfer this model, which has long since failed in Germany, to the USA.
Well, a suffering shared is a suffering halved, as we say here.

Brushes And Beats chapter 11
pairing: JiminxReader
genre: fluff with a pinch of angst
trope: enemies to lovers
Tumblr media
:that awkward moment when you are caught in a lie:
It was clear to me that Jimin had feelings for me, so clear that it scared me, my chest tightens as I replay our encounter over and over in my mind. "Stop Y/n, you are not going through it again" I chastised myself, I am not ready to start anything with anyone Hell I don't even know I'll ever be. Huffing leaned back in my chair staring at the city lights, The weather is windy, it's nice, it's peaceful as I watch the bustling streets below.
It wouldn't work between us anyway, Once his fans or the media or even his manager finds out about any of these...It's over, and I'll be left alone all over again.
Maybe all he wants is a one-time thing.
No matter how much time has passed, no matter how much I've moved on from my past, No matter how many chances I had for romance and love, Yoongi always was in the back of my mind reminding me of my scars.
Hell, I would have been married to him if it weren't for his betrayal, maybe by this time we would have had babies as we planned, just what went wrong between us? I don't think I'll be able to start anything new until I've finally let go of my past without any unanswered questions or lingering thoughts of what if.
It won't just be fair to anyone involved.
pathetic
______________________________________________________________
Checked tablecloth and candles. Romantic music and I dolled up nicely in a red dress and lipstick. The only thing keeping me from dozing off is the little sharp nervous feeling in my stomach when I think of the inevitable kiss with this person.
name: Jason Smith
Job: Resturant Manager
A slice of panic opens in my gut. I can't believe I'm actually doing this.
"What are your plans for the future?" he asked, his gaze fixated on me with a glimmer of anticipation. "umm...I do plan on opening my own makeup studio someday" I reply, trying to ignore the unease that settling in my heart.
"Y/n," he began, "I've heard about you. You must be in demand in the industry,"
His words were kind, but I was unusually distant, my mind elsewhere. "You could say that, I have been doing this for 6 years" I answered, forcing a polite smile, "The world of makeup artists is small, so not much to compete with."
Jason laughed, a rich, hearty sound that normally would have put me at ease, but not tonight. I was waiting for the other shoe to drop, and it did, sooner than expected.
"Oh Y/n, a beautiful, successful woman like you deserves the best. Something more luxurious than your eyeshadow palette." His words, meant to be complimentary, hit the wrong chords, and I saw red.
I suppressed an annoyed sigh, taking a deep breath instead. Repeating a critique similar to Jimin had made felt strange coming out of Jason's mouth.
"Jason, last time I checked, you weren’t the make-up police." It was a feeble attempt to lighten the mood, but his laughter sounded forced.
When he tried to interject with his opinions on skincare next, I cut him off. "Jason, we're here for a relaxed dinner, aren't we? Let's keep it that way."
His nod of acknowledgment did nothing to soothe my agitated nerves. The rest of the evening passed in an awkward pretense of a date, our conversation a stilted exchange of pleasantries, each moment more taxing than the previous one.
As the night ended, I bid him goodbye, knowing in my heart that the date was the first and the last. I walked home, the night's cacophony fading into silence, and Jimin's teasing face swam into my mind. A nightmarishly engaging co-worker, a constant pain. But as I recalled our moments together, I wondered if my date had already ruined any chance of seeing him differently. Was I already too late?

"I don't really appreciate women doing jobs"
Oh God, did he really just say that?
yes, yes he did
______________________________________________________________
Name: Luke Thompson
Job: Accountant
"I never understood why anyone would choose career paths in arts, OH I'm not saying it's a bad thing...I just personally don't find it practical"
"I see" I replied, gritting my teeth as I resisted the urge to roll my eyes
______________________________________________________________
Name: Craige Williams
Job: Dentist
"And then he vomited all over my chair! I guess some people just can't handle dental work"
I looked down at my corn soup...It looks like vomit...
______________________________________________________________
Name: Kim Seok Jin
Job: Surgeon
"I really don't know how you can stomach all the blood when you do your job" I replied to his medical traumas he shared "Trust me, It wasn't easy for me at first, but you get used to it over time" Jin paused, for a moment "what do you call the most detail-oriented ocean?"
"What?" I looked at Jin, confused "Uhh, not sure " he grinned "The Pacific!" with that, he burst into laughter, his joke wasn't funny but his laugh was infectious and I couldn't help but mirror it.
Finally a nice guy
"You must get all the juiciest gossip from your clients," Jin asked with a playful grin, "Why are you curious?" I replied with a coy smile, "Not really, but it would be interesting to know all the tea besides I bet it won't beat the dramas from the hospital" As the conversation continued, I found myself drawn to Jin's charismatic personality and genuine interest in getting to know me. We shared stories and laughed, finding common ground in our love for helping people.
The night came to an end and I found myself walking back to my apartment with a smile on my face. He wanted to drop me home but I rejected it as his own house was in the opposite direction.
ring ring
I pulled out my phone and saw Jin's name flashing on the screen, "Hello?"
"Did you make it home safely?" Jin's concern for my well-being warmed my heart as I responded, "Yes, I made it home safely. Thank you for asking, Jin. I had a wonderful time tonight."
"No the pleasure's mine, I couldn't say it then I was too caught up thinking I might make you feel awkward but you looked stunning tonight," he confesses hastily, caught off guard by his compliment, I felt a rush of warmth spread through my cheeks."Do you perhaps want to grab dinner again sometime?"
"yes, I would love to"
Guilt
That was the emotion I was feeling when I agreed on the second date, He shouldn't be played like this, he is a nice guy...wait...Jimin wouldn't know if I kissed anyone or not, He wouldn't know anything about my feelings unless I tell him,
I do not have to kiss anyone, I just have to say
"The kiss was amazing"
Jimin squinted his eyes at me as we stood face to face in the green room....his lips slowly curled up "Thank you, Birdy," he replied with a smug grin, as he stepped closer to me and brushed a strand of air behind my ear, his touch felt like an electric spark causing me to jump to the other side "What?? NO, I HAD A DATE LAST NIGHT" panic rose within me "we kissed and it was incredible!"
His grin widened, "I know when you lie Birdy, not working" I froze, my heart pounding, "You are sweating, I see you gulping from time to time, you won't maintain eye contact and your skirt is wrinkled by your clenched fist" My mind raced, trying to come up with a plausible explanation but it was clear that Jimin had figured me out.
knock knock
"Is Y/n here?" Zara came to my rescue "Y-yeah! here!" I waved my hand "OH you have a parcel, Someone sent you roses!!" Bingo.
"AAHAHAHA" I fanned my hand over my mouth as I walked across the room maintaining eye contact with Jimin, I could see his smug expression dropping "Oh my!!! they are perfect!!" I squeal trying to convince Jimin there is someone in my life "Who sent them?!" Zara asked excited,
I did...I ordered them myself
"My date"
Confusion and disappointment clouded Jimin's face, as he realized I was not lying to him after all,
Y/n:01 Jimin:00
______________________________________________________________
The feeling of euphoria washed over me as I walked away from Jimin, knowing that I had successfully diverted his attention and kept my secret safe.
No boys No problems.
The tea I was sipping never tasted better than it did in the moment of victory as per the deal he will leave me alone and won't pry into my personal life anymo-
"A bouquet of roses, cost: $10, recipient: Kim Y/n ordered by: Kim Y/n"
A sense of dread washed over me as I turned to see Jimin standing behind me, waving a receipt in his hand.
NOOOOOOOO
Y/n:01 Jimin:01
______________________________________________________________
Jimin's POV
Who the hell did she kiss?? I do remember telling everyone To. NOT. Kiss, OH NO she might have gone on a date with someone else, I hurridly opened the group chat and typed "GUYS EMERGENCY"
Mark: What
Luke: Whats up? Your girl rejected you?
Craige: LOL
Taehyung: EHEHE
Jungkook: oh wow
Jason: Whoa, what's going on?
Jimin: ANYONE OF YOU WENT ON A DATE WITH HER LAST NIGHT?
silence followed
Jason: nope
Mark: Nah
Taehyung: SHE DIDNT EVEN SWIPE RIGHT ON ME
Jungkook: She seenzoned me
Luke: we haven't seen her in days
Craige: I was out of town, so definitely not me.
Jimin's heart sank as he scrolled through the messages, realizing that none of his friends had gone on a date with Y/n.
Luke: What happened?
Jimin: SHE KISSED SOMEONE AND HE SENT ROSES TO HER
Craige: I TOLD YOU NOT A GOOD IDEA
Mark: wow
Jungkook: That's unexpected
Jimin's mind started racing, trying to piece together who Y/n could have gone on a date with.
Taehyung: wait, send me your girl's picture again
Jimin: wait
Taehyung: HEY, SHE IS THE ONE WHO ORDERED FLOWERS THIS MORNING, Roses Right??
Jimin: YES
Taehyung: Girl was outside my shop from 6 am, Can you believe that?!
The realization hit me like a ton of bricks, Well played Birdy
Taehyung: If you check the envelope with the flowers You may find a receipt from the flower shop
It was lunchbreak meaning the green room is empty, My heart was pounding in my chest as I rushed to the green room to confirm Tae's theory, The flowers were lying next to her bag,
There is an envelope with a receipt from the flower shop.
Joy erupted from my lungs, as I twirled across the room THANK YOU, GOD. I walked through the cafeteria, and
Target spotted
Hello there.
to be continued...
