it's a small thing, but i find the framing of this brief scene in the s3 finale a neat example of conveying a lot by visuals alone.

putting boyd in the far left rather than the right, while cutting off a lot of ava's presence, isn't the normal framing for two person conversations (see mr robot's frequent quadrant framing). yet when it's on ava she's to the far left while he takes up the right, which is more typical framing. it's almost like ava truly does value boyd and their partnership, whereas boyd sees her more like a footnote that, ultimately, doesn't matter to him the way he pretends/thinks she does. just two poor souls trying to play house
