Ending the “2023” with YOU.

There comes a time already in my 2023 that I don’t really want to be in any relationship anymore. Like, when it will be on expense of losing ME again, then having one will never be worth it.

But, UNIVERSE really plays differently. Around April 2023, I met someone unexpectedly.

Randomly we talked on calls and do videochat and of course at first I am really hesistant to the point that I FRIENDZONED him. Why? Simply because I don’t wanna be hurt anymore but through consistency comes with success 🫣😊 He never did stopped pursuing me and making me know his intentions, thay he doesn’t want me as a FRIEND.

And little did I know that I am slowly wanting and longing for his attention and voice. That’s when I knew that he slowly grew in me. That his little “Good Morning” Or “hey, what are you doing?” Or “Are u home already?”, would definitely be one of the chats I’ll be waiting and it made me want to know him more.

Thank you Babuu, for making me little extra happy this year. I will always be thankful to have and see you in 2024. LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP may be hard but for sure you will always be the best part of my 2023. I love you. 🥰

Thank you for this blog. I find old posts of Zero being cool and suave and having Sexual thoughts and actions when he likely literally does not know sex exists other than knowing organic life reproduces physically somehow. With how the x games ended up you could argue he has never met a human irl before other than Dr Cain. If the ambiguous consent argument is too much he might get scared and kill you (x9: WTF NEW MAVERICK VIRUS INFECTS HUMANS?)

DID YOU KNOW, as far as i was able to dig, there is nothing anywhere ever that stated iris and zero were a couple? a lot of fandom perception is that iris is zero's girlfriend and they were in wuv, and that half the tragedy of X4 is that he was going against someone he loved. he killed someone he loved. so tragic. :(

thing is, that's kind of complete bupkis.

obviously Iris admired him a lot, and it's not like Zero hated her, but that's about as far as it went! it's one of those popular fanon things that cycles around, like samus being super-motherly to the baby the baby the baby metroid and wubbing her widdle babuu, or flandre scarlet being sealed in the basement to contain her massive power because she's crazy and could kill everyone with the drop of a frilly hat. but then you start digging for where it's from in the games and ????????????? where did it come from? where did it go?

the game script? you can look at both the japanese and english script for x4 at your leisure, and even go for the x5 japanese cutscenes, japanese bosses, and english script to look for mentions of Iris as well. iris' dialogue in Xtreme 2 is 95% the same between x and zero, too, but just for posterity's sake here's also the english and japanese script. either way, that would also be a nope.

what about encyclopedic material, like the X Official Complete Works or the Compendium of Rockman X?

She is a Reploid split into both a crystal body and a cyborg(?) body. (Most of the Japanese is difficult to make out, so apologies if this is inaccurate! I could swear that says "サイボーグ" / "cyborg", but that doesn't make sense...)

the closest we get to this is that Zero Went On A Date, which is tucked away in the side of a Capcom Music Generation booklet for X1-X6

which is all fine and dandy, i guess, but a date can be anything. is it a hang-out date? a shopping date? a romantic date? a social date? a business date? a casual date? a competitive tournament-level date? it's difficult to argue the intent is supposed to be anything other than lovey-dovey romantic but i had to dig into page 5 of mini-booklet in a goddamn compilation album to find it and this is the only evidence they did anything other than vaguely acknowledge each other in the field.

it seems people just kind of hooked them together. and i can get that. i've got weirder ships. there's a couple reasons you could say why. you could be a sarcastic shit and say it's because they're a male and a female in a 90s anime and so get hooked by a red string of fate as soon as they look at each other because people had no idea how interacting with people work. or you could write better than capcom and say iris being emotionally tied to both zero and colonel, instead of just being related to colonel and hoping zero-senpai notices her new breastplate, is what forces her to get involved as an in-between rather than just jumping ship to be with repliforce from the getgo. or you could just say they're cute, in which case, yeah, that's cool

but the point that i am laboriously reaching around to make is that this is a consistent pattern with zero throughout the series. zero/iris is the most prominent of a companion bob capcom has pushed for him and he barely acknowledges she exists. you have to really dig for any indication that they're together. zero/layer comes next, but if you look over their interactions, she's just making anime girl blushing noises and zero has no clue what the fuck she's doing. is she overheating? zero/ferham? he wants to stab her. zero/leviathan? he also wants to stab her. zero/ciel? maybe if his preferred way of responding to a 12-year-old girl wasn't with "............" and i see you xzero shippers in the background, rubbing your hands and cackling and thinking you're getting off scot-free. zero's second favorite way of socializing with x is bailing on him. first favorite is attempting to stab him as well.

the dude is spaghettiman virgin prime, a buzzsaw with only two modes: "KILL" and "maybe don't kill". an intimate relationship? he's got a computer brain and he still doesn't even know what that means. a relationship is what you have when you fight someone, right? he's as smooth as a cactus rolling through a sandpaper factory. he's as suave as a can of worms used in spear-fishing. if you showed him a picture of sex, he'd think it was two humans attempting to strangle each other. the man installed titties on himself and he's still never touched a single one. and then he lost them in the future, so he's operating at a net titty-touching loss, which is honestly quite an impressive feat.

Since carbons are well…a very questionable mix between humans and Machines. The adjustment period for Volnutt’s Fam would be interesting….

Especially for someone like X who spend like literal Centuries as a Machine and now thousands of years later he’s literally now a Biomechanical (?) being capable of doing human stuff and machine shit at the same time.

The guardians too have to deal with this, their new bodies just feel so strange.

So it’s up to the Casketts to help them adjust to their new bodies. Cue the worst biology class in history as Roll gives live demonstrations of hoe Carbons work as Volnutt being the volunteer. Cue confusion, fascination and absolute horror on their faces.

Then it dawned something on Fefnir.

Fernir: So your saying that anyone can have like a full blown mech body right?

Roll: Yes anyone Fer something matter?

I had to scour my word doc for a snippet of Din being embarrassing (because he generally tries not to patronize Luke too much in this fic, unless necessary) so I hope this suffices.

Note: this is a bit deeper into the bowels of the fic so it’s FIRMLY inside spoiler territory — skip this one if you’re not into that!

Careful not to draw too much attention to himself, Luke quietly stepped away from the younglings, pouring every ounce of his concentration into each step. The bulkhead wasn’t too much further — if he could reach that, he could limp from the room before anyone else saw him, he could make it — but no sooner did that thought flicker through his mind that his legs buckled beneath him, his strength failing, and he caught himself painfully hard on his hands, the rest of him sprawled across the pourstone.

“Bah!” Grogu shouted, toddling up to him, his dark eyes wide with concern. “Babuu! Babuu!”

“Grogu, quiet!” Luke urged, fighting to push himself to his hands and his knees, but his arms were shaking, he couldn’t stop. His body felt ten times heavier than it should’ve been. “Please!”

But it was too late. The room had fallen nearly silent, save for the Mand’-alor’s urgent footsteps as he approached, his beskar armor gently clinking. Luke flushed as a pair of strong, gloved hands gripped him beneath his arms and gently lifted him to his feet, setting him on wobbly, unsteady legs. Din briefly let go of him, but held on again when Luke’s legs threatened to give out. He couldn’t hold himself upright. Not anymore.

“Ad’ika,” the man murmured, taller than him, even on his knees. “Are you all right?”

“I’m fine,” he insisted, but he couldn’t meet the other’s helmeted gaze. He was lying, and they both knew it. “I just — fell.”

Din, to his credit, spoke softly, doing his best not to invite anyone around them to listen in. Most of the others returned to their own conversations, with only a few curious onlookers watching to see if everything was all right. “Where were you trying to go?”

Heat bloomed across Luke’s face, deepening his complexion to a dark blush. He kept his gaze riveted to the floor as he said, “I need to use the ‘fr-fresher,” as quietly as he could, praying to the Force that no one else heard the admission.

“Okay.”

Luke knew it was coming, but he still tensed like someone had a blaster held to his head when Din’s grip tightened beneath his arms and lifted him, perching him easily on his broad, armored hip. It was so much worse than being carried over his shoulder or beneath his arm — he felt like a toddler, effortlessly carried with a single hand beneath his ass, his diminshed size never as apparent as it was in moments like this, broadcasted for all to see.

Shame tore through him like a rampaging rancor. He clutched Din’s shoulder and buried his red face in the man’s pauldron, pretending he couldn’t feel eyes on him everywhere; that he didn’t hear Din’s low, discreet murmur of, “Keep an eye on Grogu,” to one of his guards, his free hand gently rubbing a soothing circle into Luke’s back. “I’m just taking this one to the restroom.”

Me: I know it's been like this since Clone Wars but Star Wars really is become too interconnected with too many characters always returning. Also me: BABUU! :D

I mean Baby Yoda's been there from the start--they've always had that "lone wolf and cub" thing going for themselves. It's honestly hard to imagine Din without Grogu just because Grogu's been such an important point of Din's characterization. It's literally a found family thing, which was why Luke coming in and taking away honestly felt like such a rude awakening to this wonderful little side story they had going. I mean yeah it's really cool to see Luke but this isn't supposed to be Luke's story. It takes away from the sense of expansiveness that having solo stories is supposed to have. I mean Clone Wars and the Bad Batch are about filling in gaps on a main timeline, but The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett were meant to be more western Character Portraits/Picaresques that ended up getting sucked into the Skywalker Saga/Rebel-Empire Central Plot Event Horizon. I think that's why Andor ended up being as successful as it was, because it basically took a central conflict of Star Wars, but told it through a non-Skywalker lens.
