​Yes, in the Netherlands the grading system goes from 1 (worst) to 10 (best) with everything over 5.5 means you've passed and everything over 8 means cum laude.

I think I am a little bit upsetti spaghetti because my bachelorthesis was graded with an 8 and I hate that thing. I absolutely fucking despise that thesis and I have never read it again. There are multiple reasons why I hate that thesis (and also why I filed an official complaint against my advisor) so it is kind of ironic that I got an amazing grade. I totally didn't expect it. I handed it in with a "5.5 is good enough" idea.

This one, on the other hand, I loved doing it. I loved the subject. My advisor was great. I love my girls and I wasn't aiming for another 8 but maybe a 7??? You know??? A 7 sounds so much better than a 6 or 6.5, because of what we call "de zesjesmentaliteit" here, aka "liever een zes zonder stres dan een zeven zonder leven" (I'd rather have a six without stress than a seven without a life) so a 6 is still seen as "just good enough"

ARGH I am rambling. I promise I do celebrate the fact that I passed, and I am proud of my work and I love to share it. but this is kind of to explain my initial disappointment.

I haven't been active for so long, my last post was at the end of the previous semester! Things were very busy and chaotic with finishing up the past semester and now I've just finished writing my last final paper for this semester (there were 3 final papers, just... idk how I survived the past week). Which means... one more semester of actual classes left and then it's time for writing my thesis. Aaaah!

When the next semester starts in a week, we will already have thesis meetings with our supervisor next to classes, so I decided that it was time to finally get my shit together and try to be productive every day. I can't afford to lag behind, so I'm starting the 100 days of productivity challenge, starting next week! Also I got this cute notebook to make notes on thesis meetings and everything that has to do with my thesis.

I try not to work on Sundays except when it's absolutely necessary, so I'll mostly be posting the other 6 days of the week. Hopefully this challenge will give me motivation to do work right away and not stress until the last minute :) I'll be tracking the tag 'Chantal writes a thesis', even if some posts might not be about my thesis lol.

Hewwo, it is Sunday. I am kicking it off early, cause I have some ✨ thesis updates ✨ for the ones who are interested. And also, I will be out and about all day, hence the early post.

I didn’t write fic and I might not write some in a while, because yeah, I am back on my thesis bullshit. I finally got my long-awaited feedback on the draft version of my thesis and uhhhhh it is a lot. Like, more than I anticipated. I know I wrote a post about how it is fine, but it is not fine, actually. When I wrote that post, I didn’t really look in-depth at the feedback. It really is.... quite a lot.

I have four kinds of feedback, categorised by me:

The “Okay, yes, this makes sense. You’re so right. Thanks for telling me.” feedback.

The “Uh, why didn’t you mention this before? I guess it is easier to spot this mistake when you read the thesis as a whole, so I get it.” feedback.

The “Uh, why didn’t you mention this before? Really, there is no excuse for this to be mentioned in my last week before the deadline.” feedback.

And the “Hm. Can’t you read?” feedback.

Most of it is the second one. The fourth one sounds really rude, I am aware, but those are for feedback like “Where is the source?” and then I go “Literally in the sentence after this one.” To reiterate, I am not really mad at her. I am incredibly glad to have her as my advisor and I really think she cares. My advisor for my bachelorthesis was so terrible, so this is a welcome change. I would pick her again if I would have to. Also, she planned a meeting with me to discuss the feedback and so that she could answer my questions, so she in turn is also open for feedback on her feedback. So yeah, I am annoyed with the no. 4 (and also no. 3) category of feedback, but I am also aware that she has A Lot of theses to read right now. This will only increase, cause for the final grading, every thesis needs to be read twice (possibly thrice) by different teachers. Oh my!

Not gonna lie, though. I did feel very demotivated when I went through all the feedback. It kind of feels like all your hard work gets drop kicked in the ground. But I have been here before. This isn’t my first rodeo, so I also know from experience that this initial feeling will ebb away and once I actually apply the feedback, I will often feel pretty good about it. The initial... disappointment, I guess, just needs some time to go.

Anyway, the deadline is on the 26th. In the words of Eric Bittle, who is *cough* very familiar with thesis stuff:

Hi I haven't been around much because of uni but your Eddie stuff is frying my brain.

This has been ispired by the other anon going of about Eddie in the summer. it is extremely hot, you are at Eddie's eating a popsicle, only trying to get a little cooler. You don't even notice that Eddie has been staring at you the hole time, his own ice cream melting in his hand. You don't even do it on purpose but when you have it in your mouth and you look up at him all innocently he would almost cream his pants👀

Also I am working on my Bachelorthesis rn and all I can think about is cockwarming Eddie while yoy try to write but the guy is just too distracting. He would make you write a chapter before thinking about giving you some relieve

I don't forget about this and I'm rearranging and writing again!!

In the end of march I desperately wanted to write something again, but I couldn´t come up with any interesting ideas, so I gave myself a challenge to write a series of stories completely based on the lyrics of songs. It´s not very creative but I thought that could get me back to writing again and at least help me to improve writing.

Of course I didn´t finished this challenge at all.

My problem is that I didn´t like some of the stories I wrote and that I didn´t even finished some of them because I didn't like the direction the story went.

Now to the important thing: my next semester break starts next month and for that I planned to do this challenge again. And maybe I try to get a little bit more self pressure to acutally do it with kinda announcing it here

Atm I try to rearrange the order of the songs to build up a better story.

If anyone has some song recommendations, with emotional lyrics, I would be very grateful. They don´t have to be very popular or anything. I can´t promise that I will use them or that I really complete this challange but maybe they fit in well.
