The idea of Jason coming back wrong

Somehow somehow Jason's soul ended up in Tartarus. Idk maybe a last fuck you to the God's & the Seven.

And that really should have been the end of it. Jason's soul should have been disintegrated in being Tartarus so long without anything or anyone keeping him sane.

And it would have if it wasn't for Nico connecting their souls, in a way.

With Nico's sensitivity to death and life auras, I wouldn't be surprised if he was able to link his soul with others. (Hazel, Reyna, Jason, Percy etc.)

It's a one-sided relationship, where if he feels them close to death and can't reach them. Sending them some of his engery is possible. And it's a comfort at times knowing they are alive and breathing.

ANYWAY

So Nico linking his soul with Jason's unintentionally prolonged his final death. Disintegrating ever slowly instead of it being quick, so Soul Jason had all the horrible time to think about his life and regrets.

He might have gone a little insane by grief. Maybe he tired keeping sanity by focusing on memories of things and people. And who did he think about the most aside from Thalia, Piper, and Leo?

Nico.

Which is why we have the "Nico dreams of Jason's arms around him" Soul Jason felt the link more and more as he disintegrated, it became a lifeline to him and he tired not to subconsciously call Nico for help. Since he didn't want Nico to experience Tartarus again.

Soul Jason should have died quietly and alone. Doomed to be forgotten and devoured by Tartarus.

And he would have if something didn't take the last pieces of Soul Jason and fused them together with its own. Until they were a whole soul.

And Not Jason calls out Nico to save him and Nico comes.
