Summary: You’re ready to fight for the love you want, but Kaz finds it not worthy to try.

It was one of those usual days in Ketterdam. Dark clouds hung over the city and fog traveled the streets. Hoards of people were walking the streets, crossing each other, everyone on their way to complete their own missions they were on. Kaz stood with his back to you, his gaze hovering over the city instead of meeting your e/c eyes.

“Kaz, please! Talk to me! That’s the least you can do,” you threw your hands up in the air, frustrated with the man in front of you. Kaz twirled around, his coat flew around him and his gaze was on fire.

“What do you want me to say?! That you’re the love of my life and that I promise to give you everything that you deserve in this world? Is that what you want to hear?” Kaz's voice was calm but hard and demanding. It cut through the air in the room, leaving you out of breath and unable to answer. Cause what was there to answer anyway? You knew that you wouldn’t get a normal relationship ever in your life and you’d come to accept it. But Kaz was making it hard to maintain the calmness you’d had before. You shook your head, not knowing what to say. You knew he could never give you a fairy tale. But you didn't want one. You wanted the life in the barrel. You wanted the heists, the gangs, the cloudy skies and cold winds. You wanted all of it. You wanted Jespers falls down the stairs, Ninas waffles, Wylans bombs that went off at unpredictable times, Kaz's taps with his cane. You wanted your life just as it was right now. You wanted him just as he was.

"No, I don't want you to say that. We both know you don't mean any of it and we both know we can never have the fairy tale love everyone writes stories about. I just want... you," you voice was barely over a whisper. But the silence in the room was suffocating so every word you spoke was heard as clear as the day. It was Kaz's time to shake his head. His gaze went to the floor and he sat down in the window sill he'd been standing at.

"You and I both know for a fucking fact that we weren't supposed to happen," it came out with a sigh and your shoulders fell. Kaz looked down at the floor as if trying to remember every line in it. His dark hair fell in his face and gloved hand reached up to push it out for the way.

"Fine," you threw your hands in the air before you pushed a strand of hair out of your face. "Just.. give up," you turned on your heel and walked away. When you reached the door your gestures were calm as you pulled up the door. With a teary gaze you looked back at Kaz, his dark eyes met yours and you could almost see a glimpse of softness in them. "But don't ever say that I didn't try. That I didn't give it a chance. Because I did. I really did," with that you stepped over the threshold and pulled the door close behind you, leaving Kaz sitting in his armchair, hands on his cane, and with a resigned face, knowing that he'd given up on his shot of happiness.

So far I've only watched episode 1, and it's already different from the books, but I'm into it! I trust the SaB writer team more than I trust any other book to show adaptation teams (*cough* looking at you, Lauren Hirsch *cough*).

Also. WYLAN. Can we talk about Wylan, oh my Saints, LOOK AT HIM.

Thank you gifers, you are doing the Saints' job already and I am living for it, that scene already lives rent free in my mind and it hasn't been an hour yet.
