Long time no see! I'm back with a DTIYS pic I did for nadia_mnemoriesworkshop's challenge over on Instagram. This was so much fun to draw, and I totally indulged in my enjoyment of detail.
I wanted to show off the wings and not completely cover them with hair or ribbons, so the placement of everything attatched to this fairy took me quite a while. There's a LOT going on with the original character design. I think I did okay, even though it took forever because I got ambitious.

Anyways here are my OCs, Linus and Ed (Edna), Pirate Kings and Captains of The Dreadnought. They are 40, flirty, and thriving with their ship full of other idiots. Ed enjoys telling people she was kidnapped 22 years ago just because and Linus has to clarify she infact was the one who broke onto the ship and then refused to leave ❤️🫰

Everyone I know who's into Chinese dramas (sample size: 3) got into them through The Untamed/CQL. At the same time, the Untamed/Mo Dao Zu Shi fandom seems to be larger than the fandom for all other C-dramas combined. So I'm curious about people (in an English-language fan space like this)'s relationship with C-dramas!

Superb Fairy Wren
The Superb Fairy Wren is a little guy local to southern Australia! The females look much less fancy, but are still adorable. They even have a cute little dance they do to attract mates, using their beautiful feathers in a full dissolution. There are actually many different kinds of fairy wrens. Learn More!
Southern Cassowary
Everyone has heard tales of the Southern Cassowary. With long, gut-wrenching claws and an aggressive and territorial demeanor, the Cassowary is a very scary bird. However, their diet mainly consists of fallen fruit, and there actually are only two reported human deaths caused by cassowaries (one of these humans was trying to beat it to death with a stick). They also mainly attack or charge because of expecting food from humans after being fed by them for a while. Learn More!

I just clicked what my favorite adaptation/version of Cinderella is. I mean, I kind of knew back then, but I didn't realize it because at the time Cinderella wasn't a story I was really interested about, and I hadn't gone into the entire Cinderella rabbit hole. But if you ask me what my favorite Cinderella retelling is, it is definitively the story of Emberella as presented by Terry Pratchett in his "Witches Abroad" novel.
Yes it is kind of a parody and deconstruction of the Cinderella story (and a quite excellent one at that), but it also works very well as its own fairytale - plus it literaly predicted/foresaw Disney's "The Princess and the Frog" 18 YEARS before the movie was released.... and while slapping so hard the face of the Disney company.
Yeah, Emberella is my favorite version of Cinderella.

as much as tartatos as an arc traumatises me this is my favourite point to look back on laxus as a character because everything starts in magnolia
a few arcs ago he literally had all of magnolia at gunpoint (thunder point????) he was going to kill every person in the city (doubtful/j)
now at the beginning of tartaros he is willing to die for it . like the anti magic particles. he was ready to die for magnolia and his family and. god i love him

I saw the movie today and let me say something… The different perspectives, the positioning of the „camera”, changing povs - all of that made me gasp, I wasn’t expecting that at all, now I understand what everyone meant by saying it feels like watching a real life match. Sometimes plays happened so quickly exactly like it does on a real court.
Can I also talk about the sound in this movie? You can hear their loud steps, the squeking of shoes so clearly, the pants and shallow breaths??? Genious. Like apart from the plot, that I know and love, it was a whole another experience, I love how they still gave us something new and managed to surprise us.

"Battles are ugly when women fight" =/= "women shouldn't fight ever." Jack never said that. In Narnia, women demonstrably do fight in battles. Case in point: Lucy in HHB, Jill in LB.
You can judge the moral value of any society based on how it treats its most vulnerable members: women, children, minorities. Women are inherently vulnerable in wartime. Any battle in which women must fight is de facto extremely ugly, and it reflects very poorly on the society that placed them in that position.
That said, "Women feel that they must fight in the battle because the situation is so desperate/the culture fails to recognize their vulnerability/the culture actively exploits them" is entirely different than "adult women choose to fight as a matter of calling and do so in culturally appropriate ways." There's a very good reason why most modern democratic nations allow women to enlist, but don't include women in their drafts.
Father Christmas says "battles are ugly when women fight" specifically to clarify that Susan and Lucy don't have to go into battle against the Witch even though he's arming them. He's saying, "That's not your job; Narnia won't put its women in positions where they must fight." This is not a remotely misogynist statement; it's saying that a noble society has a responsibility to care for women during wartime. Which. Yes.

Passenger Pigeon
Although the passenger pigeon is extinct, they still hold a tender place in everyone’s hearts. Hunted to extinction, the Passenger Pigeon used to come in huge flocks of billions. They used to be the most abundant bird in North America. This is part of the reason they went extinct, as efforts to breed them in captivity failed since they needed large flocks to meet their breeding criteria. Learn More!
