Under the Weirwood Tree in the gardens of the Red Keep, there sat two young boys. One of white hair and purple eyes, the other of dark brown locks and dark irises.

The eldest, Aemond, held a book in his right hand, reading in High Valyrian to the younger, Lucerys - all while his left hand caresses his nephew’s head of chocolate.

In the grasp of Lucerys, he toyed with a small and thin horse, listening adeptly to his senior.

He liked listening to his uncle Aemond reading - he had a nice voice. Luke’s smile widens when he sees a servant bringing lemon cakes as ordered by the uncle and nephew duo.

“Uncle Aem! Our lemon cakes are here!” He exclaims, readying to up himself from his laid down position on his uncle’s lap. The brunette feels his shoulders held down, and brought back to rest against the ground.

“Stay, Lucy, the servant will bring the treats over. You don’t have to run and tire your small body,” Aemond jokes, chuckling softly when Luke puffs his cheeks out at the playful quip.

When the servant brings the lemon cakes over, the duo thank them before dismissing them to their chores.

Munching on the sweets, Luke asks, “do you think Mama and Step-grandmother are fighting again?”

Aemond froze, and turns his gaze to his distracted nephew who’s eyes were on the book his uncle had lay down to eat the cakes.

“…Knowing my mother, and with what she’s told me of my half-sister - your mother, I would be surprised if they handled a meeting without even the barest of arguments,” he mumbles loud enough for his nephew to hear.

Lucerys stops mid-bite, before putting his lemon cake back on the tray, wiping remaining crumbs from his fingers while turning to his uncle.

“I guess you have a point…Uncle Aem, do you think we’ll stick together even if our mothers separate us?” This was asked gently and in a whisper, sounding afraid of rejection from the questioner’s source of admiration.

The eldest was silent, before he brings his left hand to pat the younger’s head before it shifts downwards to his cheek. Once there, his thumb makes comforting motions as the brunette further leans into its hold.

“Yes, whatever happens, Lulu, I’ll make sure we stick together, alright? Nothing will separate us, I swear this to the Old and New Gods,” Aemond smiles, as he picks the book back into his grasp.

The duo continue to eat their sweet treats in a comfortable silence, leaning into each other and relishing in the quiet moment of reprieve.

Under the Weirwood Tree, they always found peace together away from the tumultuous life within the Red Keep.

After another minute or so, Luke breaks the silence yet again with a question, this time, one that temporarily stuns Aemond.

“Can you name one hero who was happy?”

Aemond’s face scrunches in confusion, “whatever do you mean?”

“I mean, can you name one hero in our books and lessons who lived and died happily? All at once? Every day and every night, every hour and every minute. They were always happy, and never anything else.”

His uncle’s brows furrowed in thought, as Luke stares at the violet eyes with many thoughts of memories about their Sept’s lessons of past history.

“…I can’t say I have - I’m sorry, Luke.”

Luke shrugs and smiles, “Well, if you can’t name one, then there hasn’t been one both famous AND happy yet, huh?”

“I suppose you can say that.”

Sighing his disappointment loudly, Luke flips onto his back and onto his uncle’s lap yet again. His eyes were closed, and after a few deep breaths, he opens them with a bright smile.

“Alright then, I’ll tell you a secret!”

He scrambles upwards to his knees to the side of his uncle, who’s wide-eyed gaze keeps track of his always moving nephew.

“And what will that be?”

“I’ll be the first!”

Luke brings his soft hands to Aemond’s lightly calloused hands from training, and excitedly shoved their intertwined hands to their chests, leaning into his uncle’s face as his smile widens.

“I’ll be the first hero in history to always be happy! Swear it!”

Aemond’s wide eyes yet again furrows, “why me?”

“Because you’re the reason! Swear it!”

These words were loud yet quiet, as though this claim were so sacred that only Aemond, Luke, the Weirwood Tree and the Old and New Gods were the only ones worthy of hearing it.

And to the boys, it was.

Aemond was brought out of his thoughts by his nephew.

“Swear it,” whispered his beloved.

Hesitantly, he whispers back, much quieter than his nephew; “I swear it.”

Luke leans his forehead against Aemond’s, and both let out shaky breaths held in after the silence that followed their vows.

There, under the Weirwood Tree in the garden of the Red Keep, sat two lovestruck young boys, uncaring of the rest of the world, and relishing in a moment of reprieve from the hectic life of the court.

There they shared kisses and embraces.

There they shared sweet words and sweet treats.

There they comforted the other when troubles arose.

There they would sit and make up when they fight.

And there, a lone man - filled with a burning regret and a strong yearning of a past once forgotten and now remembered - kneels, as the rest of his world burns into nothing but ashes and sulfur, of fire and blood, of the raging ocean and thunderous storms in what once was a place of comfort, safety and love.

What if Baby Reader (Rhaenyra's child) takes the blame for Aemond's mutilated eye? Lucerys was the one who took the eye, yes, but Baby Reader got in the middle of the fight to separate her/his brothers and her/his uncles. So when the fight ends and everyone is looking for a guilty, reader tell Luke and Jace not to say anything (and both obey their older sibling), Reader takes the blame and says that he mutilated Aemond in self-defense, He is very sorry and that he has no problem being punished

Years later, Aemond thinks that Reader claimed him as his (never mind the genre of Baby Reader) the moment he removed his eye and is even more obsessed with Reader than before

"It all happened so fast and the Bby!Reader wasn't thinking clearly. They was just trying to protect they younger brother and it was all an unfortunate accident."

That's the story they tell when asked what happened to Aemond's eye.

To be honest, Aemond wasn't paying much attention during the fight. He was so focused on just trying to hurt his nephews that he only realized he had lost his eye when he was stabbed. He didn't pay attention to the culprit and so he didn't accuse Luke of maiming him.

When Bby!Reader took the blame for Aemond's eye, everyone was shocked. No one would ever think they'd have the nerve to do that, not when they so clearly adored Aemond. Then why?

Alicent was torn, part of her wanted revenge for her son's eye but she would never dare harm Bby!Reader, not only because of her own obsession with them but also because of the rest of the family. Instead, she blamed the Velaryon's brothers, even if she didn't say it aloud, she blamed them for Bby!Reader's corruption and none of this would have happened if they just stayed away from the Reader.

At one point, she even blames Rhaenyra.

Bby!Reader says it's okay to be punished, but nobody really wants to do that. Everyone seems too disturbed by the events of that night, so they decide to forget about it. Pretend nothing happened.

That it all just happened because Bby!Reader is such a good sibiling that they decided to risk being severely punished just to protect they brothers and cousins. That they hurt Aemond out of family loyalty was, for them, admirable.

Lucerys felt very guilty that his sibiling had taken the blame, but he couldn't bring himself to tell the truth. And he knew that Bby!Reader would never allow that. Everyone agreed to just forgive this incident, Aemond forgave Bby!Reader and hugged them, in the form of forgiveness.

Aemond always felt entitled to Bby!Reader and, I can see, that after he was "maimed by the Reader" he would feel even more so. The Reader took something from him, which to him means he's been claimed by Bby!Reader. Years ago, long before the War, he had already been chosen as the Reader's partner and he knew it was true.

That they belong to each other.

Aemond will definitely want something in return for the lost eye. Bby!Reader became his from the moment they plucked his eye out, it's only fair that he pluck something out of them too.

Maybe... Just maybe an eye... As a sick way to prove a union, a marriage... Bby!Reader will have a rough time with Aemond, but very romantic in his own way.

My guess (I say as the person making all this up) is that he thought it was too early, Luke was too young, etc etc...

But we're only seeing the drunkmond events, which were a lot at the beginning but fewer and far between as time went on, but I can assure you that Luke is equally ready to get married, and he has a lot of fun in days after a drunkmond night teasing his boy about it.

"You know what you said?"

Luke is straddling Aemond's lap on the couch, Aemond holding him around the waist as Luke runs his fingers through Aemond's soft hair. Aemond is still hungover, face buried in Luke's neck. He only grunts in response.

"You also said I would never marry you, because how could someone like me love someone like you?"

Luke refuses to let go until Aemond stops shaking, and when he does he sits back against the couch. Luke looks over Aemond's face, paler than usual from the alcohol, but he has a look in his eye, something akin to admiration.

"Move in with me," Aemond says, and Luke laughs. "I'm serious. I want to see this face every day when I wake up. I'm done being away from you."

Luke smiles at him, and Aemond smiles too, and Luke kisses him.

I hated show! Dany’s ending with a passion but for someone like Aemond who’s never been all that stable on the first place it’s actually pretty perfect. All that anger, the rage of finally having gotten the courage to admit his feelings after a lifetime of pushing away emotions only have everything be ripped away from him moments later. A bloodbath would be the only realistic outcome.

But how about this, the same concept of Luke being murdered right after they’ve confessed their feelings for one another only for things to turn out like the red wedding? I’m talking a complete massacre on the blacks. The moment Alicent sees her son crying over Lucerys bloody corpse is the moment she knew she fucked up going along with Otto’s plans.

I've been reading your posts about bby!reader who's the son of criston and rhaenyra, and I can't help but imagine the greens siblings being attached to him too; especially if reader reprimanded jace and luke for or was sort of a mediator between the blacks siblings and the greens. the dance of the dragons wouldn't just be about a struggle for the throne if this were the case (speaking of the dance, do you think reader in this au would come out of the mess unscathed?)

The Greens would develop their own obsession towards the bby!reader and each one will be different from the other. They all care about you in a different but strong and obsessive way. You know, in the yandere way.

Otto and Alicent are the ''leaders'' of the Greens and therefore they consider themselves more entitled to the bby!reader. And it's not like anyone is going to complain about it. maybe Daemon and Aegon will but they will be ignored

Otto considers himself to be bby!reader's grandfather (but if you think about it, he would be more of a great grandfather), even though you doesn't have his blood, he still considers himself as your grandfather and acts in a very loving and protective way towards the bby's direction and only the bby!reader can really see a side that Otto doesn't show to anyone, a vulnerable and playful side. You are the only one to see him laugh and being really who he are. Alicent is the most protective, she is one of the closest to you and uses her position as Queen to get more of your time, she is considered your grandmother and acts like one, spoiling you and always showering you with compliments. She likes to give you gifts and have tea with you, even though it might not be your favorite activity, she still enjoys spending time with you.

Aegon is your uncle and he is the funniest of them all (and there are many), he absolutely adores you and loves dragging you to all sorts of places, even inappropriate ones. He will definitely encourage the bby!reader to do things that were said to be wrong and when he is accused of corrupting you, he will just laugh and nod with pride. Helaena would spend as much time as you are willing to give her, she greatly appreciates her company and how you never called her weird. She really loves talking to you, whether it's about bugs or more different things, you are very precious to her.

Aemond, however, is the most attached to the bby!reader. He was always the oldest of brothers. The two of you grew up together and he developed a great affection for you and he is almost always seen with bby!reader. What will further increase the link between the two is if bby!reader scolds Jace and Luke, even more so after that pig episode, you can see Aemond smirking in the background while bby!reader scolds his younger brothers. Aemond felt closer and closer to you and not even your parents could separate you.

A Dance with Dragons would not only be for Rhaenyra or Aegon to win, but it would also be an internal struggle for the bby!reader. Both sides are obsessed with bby!reader and neither is willing to let go. The Dance would be tricky, because in this bby!reader scenario, Criston, who is Team Green, would be on the side of the Blacks because of his bby, even though he hates Rhaenyra, but in his case, he supports you and wants the reader to become King in place of Aegon or Rhaenyra. Even Alicent or even Aegon might support your claim to the throne. Now about getting out of the mess I doubt it very much, not physically hurt, because they would never lay a finger on you, but psychologically. Lots of dead and bby!reader cares about all of them and to see your family being destroyed for the sake of power and for you would also shake him a lot.

Here's the deal and also why I dislike writing WIPs: I regret posting that Aemond would come home after 1-2 and continue his "drunken" adoration of Luke. With how much he was drinking and how serious the decision for him to sober up was, there's no way he could ever drink again. In truth, if he ever relapses it's gonna be a full-on blackout that he regrets for weeks and takes a lot of effort and counseling to get through.

In regards to him running off to avenge Luke, there's also a bit of a difference here: Aemond's job is to kill while Luke's is not. Aemond's coworkers are in the same boat while Luke's are not. So Corlys would definitely say something because his world does not involve as much murder, but Cole immediately understands what Luke has to do and why he has to do it. No need for questions or comments.

I’m very excited because I’ve been working on Karma is a God recently!! I disliked the season 2 finale so much I decided to actually start working on my WIPs, how fun :)

It’s been a hot minute since KIAG got an update. I’ve said before, I have the fic planned out and I really want to see it through. I’ve been getting a few comments on AO3 in that time and the odd anon ask, and it just got me thinking about this fic until I was restless and HAD to get it out.

Chapter 16 is in my google doc and waiting to be edited once I recover from a very wholesome trip to Amsterdam. It’s gonna be fun, Luke is returning to King’s Landing with Aemond as her prisoner, and there’s politics and drama and guilt and longing and aaaaa, can’t wait for people to read it 🫶

Nothing against everyone's redemption arcs in FMN but there's just this extra ✨spice✨ to them having revenge and/or getting their shit together in the canon era as opposed to modern au because of how relatively easier it would be to get away with murder as royals who own literal dragons. Also the thought of aemond and aegon having to deal w their gay panic in traditional westros and realising laenor was right for booking it to essos LMAO

I love writing bby lucemond because they’re so sweet together. Aemond is just a shy kid who wants his nephew to think he’s more interesting than Aegon while all Luke wants is to read stories and eat lemon cakes with his uncle.

While I do like fix it au’s, I just can’t help but picture FMN somehow taking place in canon. It’s so interesting because of the way everyone would go about handling things. Luke being uncomfortable with nice/expensive things is a tuff situation to deal with because they’re literal royalty. The gasps the maids let out when Luke dresses himself up for the day or goes to the kitchens to fix his own meal is certainly something.

It also makes the issue of gay panic so much harder to deal with. It’s easier for a man as insecure as Aemond to be open with his sexuality now because modern Westeros is progressive + has endless representation in media and safe social spaces. However, if we turn back the clock to 129 A.C where no such things exist Aemond would have to do a lot of soul searching and learning to accept himself. Especially since he and Alicent still hold onto the faith.

Aegon just straight up doesn’t give a shit about how anyone perceives him (except for Jace depending on the topic) so he couldn’t care less. He’s already experimented with men anyway so it’s whatever but slipping his way into Jaceala’s relationship makes him quite nervous.

For me personally, Luke for sure sees Aemond (and really all of his nieces and nephews) as his own, but takes a special liking to this dragonless boy who’s so obviously lonely and needs proper guidance that doesn’t come in the form of shitty alphas pushing that gender hierarchy crap. And unlike the other adults present on both sides Luke wouldn’t take that bullying shit lightly which only fuels Aemond’s crush. Now fast forward 10 years after Luke comes back from exile after refusing to marry, Aemond’s goals have changed dramatically if you know what I mean.
