AITA for giving a friend tickets to a concert that I originally bought for a different friend?

This kind of petty drama tbh but my friends are divided over this whole thing and I worry that the way I acted was wrong.

I (16) bought 4 tickets to a concert that I really wanted to see, intending to ask my friends to go with me for my birthday. Because I was the one who wanted to go, and I know none of my friends are super into this artist, I thought it was only fair that I bought the tickets. They were like £70 each and I spent some of the money I got as gifts to buy them.

I asked 1 friend who has kind of been my on and off best friend for the past 4 years, we'll call her E, to go with m. She asked if we could also invite someone she's friends with, who I don't know that well- let's call her O. I wasn't super happy with the idea but I really wanted E to come and I thought maybe it could be a good way to get to know O more. The asked a few of other friends if they wanted the last ticket but they were either busy or didn't know if they would be allowed (the concert was happening in another city) so the last ticket wasn't claimed for a while.

The week of the concert arrived and I ended up in hospital because I dislocated my knee. I was told I probably shouldn't go to a concert because I should be on rest for a few days. I was pretty upset but there wasn't really anything I could do about it. I let E know I couldn't go anymore and that I was just gonna post the tickets for sale online. I told her she could buy hers if she still wanted to go. She didn't reply so I had a feeling she was pissed about it. On the day of the concert, the tickets hadn't been bought. I was home from school all day but a few of my friends came by after to see how I was doing.

This is when I learned that E had told everyone that I had given her all four tickets and that she had told two guys from the year above that they could have my ticket and the spare one for free if they gave her and O a ride to the concert. I tried calling E but she didn't pick up or reply to texts. I'll admit I was kind of angry. The girls who came to see me after school said they would buy the tickets from me and go to the concert if the tickets were still available. So I sold them the tickets for £50 each (that was all the had on them at the time and I was fine with getting at least some of the money back versus giving them to E and some random people for free) and they went to the concert.

A few hours before the concert started, E showed up at my house and asked for the tickets. I told her I had sold them to some other friends and she kicked OFF. She said I had given her at least her and O's tickets as a gift and that I couldn't just take that back. She had the guy from the year above come up to my house and ask where the tickets were too, though he seemed confused about the whole thing and was pretty understanding when I said I had bought them for my birthday but got injured so I decided to sell them. Eventually my mum had to ask them to leave because E was just yelling at me, saying that I was a shitty friend, and I was pretty upset.

Things have been so tense in school since the concert. Some of my friends don't believe that I never promised E all of the tickets after I got injured, so they're really mad at me and the friends who went to the concert. The whole thing is really awkward and I'm starting to feel like maybe it was an asshole move on my part. I don't know. E basically hasn't spoken to me since. I knew she had made plans with the tickets so I guess it was bad of me to sell the tickets to those other friends. I just feel like she shouldn't have assumed I would give them all away to her for free? Especially when I told her ahead of time that she could buy the tickets, otherwise I was gonna try selling them. She never replied to let me know she wanted them. AITA?

This boycotting Studio Pav is so dumb and this is why I think so!

Man idk if anyone has been seeing the Studio Pav “boycott” surrounding the Onlyoneof tour but it is just so dumb first off if no one knows the boycott is over the snapshots (which are pretty much just Polaroid pictures there’s standard and premium options) going from $50 to $80 for the premium which is only being offered for the tour and everyone is pissed about it mind you this is their second tour and it’s a world tour unlike last year when it was just a North America tour they’re also at bigger venues because this will be a sold out tour so of course prices are going to go up but like that’s the ONLY thing that went up in prices tickets for the concert are relatively the same as last years with a new vip tier VVIP+ being the most expensive package and like these girls are being just so terrible and gross about people buying snapshot photos to doxxing them online and saying they’re ugly and disgusting and that they’re going to hell and it’s like why WHY ARE YOU SO PRESSED OVER A PRICE CHANGE ESPECIALLY since a lot of these girls who are “boycotting” bought VVIP+ tickets!!! So how are you gonna boycott something but still give them money so all y’all look stupid cause Studio Pav already got your money so what’s the point of this boycott?? Like they’re making it seem Studio Pav has done this horrendous thing putting them on the same level as Starbucks or McDonald’s when all they did was raise the snapshot photos prices (which studio pav said it was because they didn’t want to have a lot of people like last time since they were exhausted after the concert so understandable) like not even the ticket prices were raised JUST the snapshots!!! Like why can’t you let people buy what they want with their own money and have a good time like last year I couldn’t get any vip package so the snapshot was the closest thing I can do to getting some interaction with my favorite members and maybe there are people who are in a similar situation and just want to get a chance to meet them like these people are so nasty on Twitter and in the comments saying they’re going to boo everyone who got snapshots and it’s like shut the fuck up like you’re not even boycotting correctly cause if you were actually boycotting then you wouldn’t be going to the concert at all not buying VVIP+ tickets 🙄 my hypothesis is that these girlies went last year and was able to get a picture with all 6 members are now pissed that the can’t afford to do so now so now they have to make everyone else miserable and on top of that NOW all of a sudden there’s like “scandals” about Studio Pav and how the workers and the owner or whatever of the company were homophobic and like I said I went to the concert last year NOT ONCE did I see ANY sort of homophobia from the workers or form anyone for that matter there were pride flags everywhere but now all of a sudden there’s “let me tell my story about studio Pav” tweets and like where was this last year??? Im personally not a huge Taylor fan, but my heart is acheing for her as it is acheing for the fans. Im feeling bad after all the things that is happening in my homeland with something that should be special for Taylor and the Swifties here on Brasil, especially the hate comments from her so called "fans".

Now I can understand the frustation after the concert was post poned lasting 1h to start after literally TONS of fans were waiting outside the estagium on a termic sensation of 50°C.

I get that people were waiting for literal years to see her.

I know there are hundreds of fans whom cant stay on Rio for so long because they have work to do on monday and/or cant afford another passage or an hotel room, and wont be capable to be on the concert after spending 500-1000 reais on a ticket. Sometimes even more.

I understand the frustration. The anger. I understand the pain.

I am not going to say it is not fair, because it is.

But I gotta say, it is NOT Taylor's fault.

It is not Taylor Swift who decided there would be a massive heat wave on Brasil wich literally got on historical books as the hottest day on the state of Rio de Janeiro after around 1000 yrs.

It is not Taylor's fault that a girl passed away.

It is not Taylor's fault that 1000 fans on the crew fainted because of the heat.

And I am saying this because there are really people blaming her. And these things were not on her control.

If you want a closer note to understand how precary the situation was on the first day: the termic sensation inside the Estagium reached: 62°C, what is near of 140°f. And for real, I cant fully comprehend how unwell you can get on this situation. (On my city, I felt sick with a termic sensation of 42°c. To think there were people where the termic sensation was more 20°C makes me unwell to say the least.) People were screaming asking for water, because it is not free on stagiums and events. You cant get in with a watter bottle, and it is way too expensive to buy inside.

To get worse, the air circulation inside the stagium was closed on purpose. So the fans on the streets could not see Taylor inside.

The stagium was made, designed with the air circulation in mind. There was no refrigeration or air conditionin. They basically turned the stagium into a furnace, and wouldnt even give water for free(Ik it is a law, but in this heat, after closing the air circulation????? Are they for real????) and for what? Was it worthy it? To believe much of this could have been avoided if the ones organizing it had the Basic of human decency. Maybe there wouldnt have been 1000 people who fainted and 24 on the fucking hospital....

This makes me tear up. Im writing this crying. This is unhamun.

I really wanna believe they didnt have an idea it would be that bad, I really wanna believe they didnt think for a moment: this doesnt feel right.

That it was a somatory of bad decisions viewing only the gain that blinded people to see the basic.

But I am being optimisc, because there is no way such a huge company as it is the Tickets For Fun, there wasnt anyone on the logistics pointing out that closing the air circulation was a bad idea, that there werent anyone on the Commercial thinking even for once that selling a cup of water on such a high price on this heat wave is precary.

I just cant withstand it.

I will give here info: the majority of people on Brasil dont make more than RS2000,00 per month, converting it to dollar it is around U$420,00 per month if I am not mistaken, and the watter cup with 200ml was around R$10,00, what makes U$2,00 per cup. There were people wasting R$100,00 to R$200,00 wich converting is like U$20,00 to U$30,00 only with water in ONE DAY.

Of course, this literally screams that the majority of the crew on Rio is not on this line, but even for people who makes like R$5000,00 to 7.000,00 per month wich is U$1000,00 to U$,1500,00 is too expensive.

And you go with the with lodging, the airplane tickets that alone you spend more than R$1000,00 easily. I am not counting food, drinks, or anything.

People get in debt to see her. That is serious business.

And it makes me sick of my stomach people cant go to a concert because they cannot afford water.

Now, about yesteday's show

Taylor wanted to postpon it since she knew a girl literally died due the hot wave on Rio, while this said fan was waiting to see her performance.

But as it seems, the company Tickets For Fun(@t4f), didnt want her to do it. What I believe it happend was long hours of discussion between Taylor team and the @T4f that is why it was cancelled so late.

People believes that Taylor can postpon an International show by just saying 'im Taylor fucking Swift, I can do wathever I want" that she did it on purpose, to let her fans waiting on an infernal heat, that Taylor dont care with her fans and the fact is. She cant postpon an International show out of the blank when she signed a contract! It was terrible the fans waiting for HOURS, but there was nothing she could do.

I've seen terrible comments about her on tiktok, on Twitter. I've read terrible things people say about the fans, as it was a good thing that her fan died, as example.

And for me, ok? After someone died, 1000 fainted, there really shouldnt be more concert. I agree that it should have been earlier, unhapilly it wasnt cause of burocracy.

heyyyy just curious about your process with the hot limit niki? I wanted to try something similar for a later event and was curious how you knew how much dia & stuff you needed

hi! i did a lot of pre-planning for hot limit i think by late oct-early nov i was trying to figure out how much dia i would need, how many tickets i would use, etc. first of all you need to be very conscious of what you're trying to go for. if youre planning on getting an mv scr or also ranking, im just going to assume you are willing to spend An Amount of money on doing so because doing this kind of thing is almost impossible as f2p unless youve saved up for a ridiculously long time. more under the cut

i knew from the get go i was gonna rank top 10 so the resources i had very much reflected that. for reference these are how many dia and whistles i had (that one support pack was a LIFE SAVER – i think the whistles we got from that were around 20k+ dia worth, so in absence of that i wouldve actually bought the dia pack and started off with around 120k+). i didnt use any dia to scout, but i had 181 scouting tickets saved up for this (so around 63k worth) and probably bought a few more along the way. i only ended up getting a 75% bonus iirc (one copy of adonis 5* (20%), maxed nazuna 4* (50%), and one maxed 3* (5%) – my grind song at that point was oys so adonis was in the main team bc luckily he was brilliant, and nazuna and the 3* were in the support slots).

so in total, not accounting for event rewards, the dia i got from the monthly VIP or any subsequent tickets i might've purchased, i had around 180k worth of dia saved up for this event. if i had been planning for a podium spot (1-3) i probably wouldve tried to have somewhere closer to 300k. keep in mind, because ranking is fast-paced (i would also do this if i was going 22m – ill be doing that for ariadne and i'll try to keep a better documented run when i do so i can put out proper guides for anyone that might need it) you absolutely need to buy the VIP II pack. not for the whistles the whistles arent even a drop in the bucket for what youll be spending BP-wise but because the VIP II pack comes with an unlimited amount of doubling up which you will be doing after every single normal song play to keep up the pace and reach your daily goal (do NOT double up on the event song that is a scam and is infinitely worse than doubling up the normal song).

worth pointing out tho that i noticed a large enough gap between myself and the person after me so i stopped using my dia last few hours of the event – out of 102k i was left with around 34k. so in practice i used up all the whistles, all the scouting tickets, and around 68k dia – a total of 155k dia. depending on who youre trying to go for if youre ranking it might be more or less, for example, i wouldnt be caught dead ranking for any valk event not only bc im not a valkP but because valkP are. well. lets just say i think they're keeping enstars afloat. you'd probably have an easier time with less "popular" characters so that's something to account for. niki is definitely really popular eng-side so i kind of shot myself in the foot here but idc anything for the mippy.

for 22m i'd probably have around 10 ten pulls from tickets saved, and around 65k dia just for playing the event and bp consumption. you'd basically want around 90k dia worth saved up for any mv scr because a 60% bonus is ideal (maxed 4*+both 3*s maxed) and ten 10 pulls should cover that.

i would actually link my spreadsheet straight up if it wasnt such a mess, but just to kind of give an idea of what it was i'll attach a screenshot and kind of talk thru my thought process for what i needed to plan for.

please note the preplanning stuff on the bottom + righthand side. using a kr calculator i figured out what the optimal card placement would be in terms of when skills would go off, etc. i basically just copy pasted the middle part with the song as well as the ones that list oys and heartbeater for that – the calc provides your team potency, as well as the overall score. here's a link to the kr spreadsheet translation. then i would plug the song score number into the sakamoto calculator (disclaimer like the prior times ive linked it multiply dia values x10 because this is a jp event calculator) to get an approximation of how many event points i would get per song depending on how much bonus i would get. for this kind of thing, it's basically a prerequisite that you get 70% (one copy of the 5*, and maxed 4*) so i made approximations from 70-95 in case i got rly lucky. i didnt LOLLLLLL

since my initial goal was 35m my daily goal was around 4.375m with the exception of day 0 – i only really wanted to get to first copy niki that day. so all of my calculations in the bottom half are based on how many normal+event song plays it wouldve taken to reach that number, and how much time it wouldve taken me in minutes, all at 10bp for normal song plays. i think my calculations were literally just like. normal song plays = x and event = y and trying to figure out how much they'd equal if it was (points per song*x) + (points per song*y) = 4,375,000. i kind of bsed this i'm not particularly good at math so i really just kept trying numbers until i got an amount that felt right, and repeated that taking into account the different number bonuses. BUT!!!!!!! here's a big but.

i ended up throwing that all out the window first day LMFAO

i started filling out the top left table as soon as the event started and as you can tell my calculations immediately went out the window because i was like hm what if i rush 😭 and i guess it was okay b/c i ended up going to 39m to place where i wanted to place, anyways. instead of 4m i'd literally just do whatever and go 5-7m+ a day until the last few days. my dia expenditure was at around 8-12k daily which was about what i expected, the first few days i was using whistles so i guess the dia consumption wouldve been double that amount on those days if i didnt have those. i also just stopped giving a damn around day 6 because i forgor and i already kind of knew how much i was spending anyways, i was more attentive to the t10 places than anything else. my camera roll and my friend @spectralpooch can attest to that (i would wake up in a cold sweat bc i needed to check where i was. constantly). i honestly do recommend keeping track of the rankings if youre aiming for a specific stuff tho i swear studying ppls playing habits (?) really helps so you know when to grind more and when you can kind of relax.

i havent talked about event pass usage and to be fair this is up to the player. i personally didnt use event passes at ALL until the very last hour of the event bc idk strategy, i guess. i kind of expected more people to do what i did to shoot up in the rankings last second but it didnt really happen (i went from 29m to 39m in under like. 45 minutes because i had 55k passes saved up call me Albert Einstein). i only used 100 passes for starries every once in a while but that was mostly for the high score ranking because overall i think starries dont give a lot when youre already going for 22m, and i wasnt playing the event song otherwise. like you can see in my calcs i accounted for playing the event song everyday a set amount of times but in practice i did differently bc thats what worked for me and i didnt mind using more dia in the end if it meant i could have a higher rank in the end. it's totally up to preference

you will also rank up a ton. which isnt hugely helpful in the grand scheme of things but something to look forward to, i guess. i think i ranked up around 25? or so times throughout the event and i was already at rank 90 to begin with. anyways if youre able to keep a steady pace and are able to play regularly thats good. if not i recommend frontloading the event on days where you Can play. there's also the psychological toll of watching your dia go down to the tiniest fraction of what it was before.

tldr always play your songs at 10bp, have a shit ton of dia saved up (depending on what youre doing, if youre doing 22m have around 90k if youre doing more than that pray to god)

i'm so upset about this ticketmaster fuck-up I can't even begin to express how emotional this has made me. My first taylor tour was in my hands, but capitalism got in the way yet again. I'm so upset, fuck ticketmaster.

I hope Taylor, if she sees this, can think of a way to use her immense privilege and power to force ticketmaster to give up the "exclusivity" clause in their contracts that doesn't allow venues to sell through other companies. Like, I hope she sees the news and stuff and just announces over twitter something like "Due to immense backlash from my fans, I've decided to not go on tour in the future until Ticketmaster removes their exclusivity clause in their contracts with venues that doesn't allow them to sell through other means." Like, I don't think ticketmaster wants to fuck around and find out, and she can even tell the ceo of ticketmaster to talk to apple music ceo if they want to try her.

Like, invite other artists like Beyonce or Adele to make similar announcements. She was able to help streaming rights and I think she could really make a difference in ticket sales for tour if she tried. I know it's not her fault, but I think she'd be doing so much good in the future to prevent fans like myself from having our literal dreams shatter because ticketmaster sent them the wrong code or they were kicked out of queue due to server errors. Like, if she promised to only work with venues who sold to other venues but ticketmaster, how quickly do you think those venues would turn on ticketmaster?

I'm just ranting and upset at Ticketmaster's monopoly over ticket sales. I'm upset over seeing literal 50 dollar tickets to an ERAS tour become inaccessible because of a fuck up on TICKETMASTER's end. I'm tired of seeing fans cry over social media because they won't see taylor in concert, yet again, because of ticketmaster. i'm upset over fans not being able to buy tickets due to things outside of their control, even when they do everything right.

I feel very much the same!! I like the album, I like the beat, but I feel like the writing itself is a lil lacking. Most of the songs I’m tapping my foot but I’m like what are we saying here?? What are we going for?? They all feel a little too short to really get the message across. And I don’t think a song has to be long to be good— like Comeback is one of my fave songs of theirs and it’s barely 2 and a half minutes, but there’s a story there, a clear message. I feel like some of these songs very much fall into the Harry’s House trap of “we are just listing words that fit the vibe.” It’s def not their strongest writing. I remember listening to Happiness Begins on loop after starting BICBTY and being like “wow, I can get so many stories out of these songs, there’s so many ways I can take the ideas of this and turn it into a plotline or a backstory and give it a life of its own.” It really felt like those songs were about something and they kind of drew a picture in my mind and inspired me to come up with things like “what could this line be about?”. I don’t feel that with this album at all (except for a few songs— Little Bird is a notable exception that will absolutely have a follow up one shot once I finish BICBTY. 😂)

I much prefer their work with Ryan Tedder to Jon Bellion; I feel like Happiness Begins and all the songs in between these albums are telling a much clearer story and I agree that The Album isn’t coming close to topping Happiness Begins for me. Also hearing this album makes me long for the lost album with What A Man Gotta Do, X, Five More Minutes, all those songs even more 😂😂

Regardless yes I did get tickets to the tour! I was hesitant to buy them before hearing the album because the two singles did have me wary but the Eras-tour-esque nature of it sold me (plus tickets were like $50 for upper balcony which was more than reasonable 😂). I actually never saw them live before the Happiness Begins tour, so I am super excited to hear more stuff off A Little Bit Longer and Lines Vines and Trying Times aside from their big hits!! LV&TT is critically underrated imo so I’m still very excited for the show, even if The Album’s portion will probably be my least favorite 😂😂

I heard that FF7RR didn't perform as well as Remake and at first I was sad but then I starting thinking about it. The PS4 came out and not enough units were made but eventually they caught up and everyone seemed to have one but this generation, the same thing happened, that's their own fault, they underestimated on purpose and it got a reputation again that it's a scalped console.

While certainly desirable, a lot of people couldn't find these and when they finally became available, they shrugged at the price. PS4 was 400, PS5 is 500, it's a hundred dollar difference and yet we're still here 3, wait, it's been almost 4 now, 4 years since it's launch! It's more than half way through its life cycle if we go by PS4 dates. 6 is pretty standard. Not to mention, after the first three years, Sony is known for coming out with a revision to their console.

The PS4 Pro, the PS2 and PS3 slims, it's expected and with the coming of those, there were price drops, first 50 after the first 2 years then 100 when it actually released and it took the spot of how much that initial console cost. We're already past that point now so I suppose the decision between a digital and physical version is considered the different version right at the get-go. People wait for these things to go on sale. They wait for a game that they really want.

Me? Spider-Man 2 and FF7R2 just dropped within the past 6 months and those are the two games that I'd get. There's a ton of games that I'd try but those are two that I was really looking forward to, does that justify uh, 500+70+70=640 plus tax?

I for one have waited so long that I decided to wait until the PS6. And Sony must know that the PS5 sales didn't go as planned, I mean, it's three years in and they release the brand new Resident Evil 4 remake on both consoles. 50 million consoles sold is huge but when you have over double that with PS4 which was still had higher sales at the landmark the PS5 is at right now.

I support new consoles, new technology but absurdly priced technology just doesn't cut it for me, I don't normally give in and I want FF7RR more than any other game right now because it looks like KH4 is out of reach for the time being and I know a lot of people are the same way, "I want to play it but I don't have a PS5". There's certainly a demand for that game, but one factor is that some people wanted the idea of a remake but got a franchise (which I personally don't mind but still)

I'm not always blaming the industry because the price of everything is up right now and really, that puts a damper on absolutely everything, nobody can go out and have fun. I make it a point to only go out maybe one day of the week and do something because any more than that is spending too much money. It's sad and it's stupid. My siblings are growing up in this, first covid then the economy which when I ask them what they want to do, they have no idea what they 'can' do because they don't know what's out there. Then when I decide for them, they don't know how to act, they don't know how to treat an arcade because we can't afford to go to them all the time, let alone find one. They're indecisive about getting a toy because for one, they see the price, which they shouldn't have to worry about but when they ask for something expensive and all they know is the excuse that it's too much then they start being conscious of it and then they don't know how to treat it because they know that may be the one big thing they get and aren't sure whether to use that ticket. Then me, I go into stores and don't buy anything, I gawk "Oh, that's new" because I spent the money to drive here but everything I see is overpriced and or a lot of effort to get aka I have to stand in line for 20 minutes because they don't have self checkout and they don't pay enough employees to have more than two registers open at a time and by the time I get there, I change my mind and regret my potential purchase.

The middle class has been eliminated and a majority of its people have been pushed into being poor. Sidetracked. It's not the game, it's the console, it's not the console, it's the price. And the games also cost more. Ok, bye.

Angry Lionel Messi fans in Hong Kong have been told to “get lost” and that the Inter Miami superstar’s absence from a friendly is “tough toodles”.

The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner formed part of a star-studded travelling party that left Florida for a historic tour of Saudi Arabia and the Far East. Class Favorites: Concert (Ranked-ish)

Before I get into the lose ranking of these concerts, since physical tickets are often times being replaced with our phones (rude) I started making my own faux tickets as my own personal takeaway, as well as using it for another creative outlet. The first time I did it, I printed off too many cause I couldn't decide which version I wanted or how many I "needed" so I brought the extras to the show with me and handed a few out to fellow concert goers. Since then it's almost been like a random act of kindness type of gift that seems to bring other people joy, but it's also something I can put on my wall or my notebook and I think I want to make them forever.

The first one I made was for when I saw Yellowcard cause I was just so excited about the tour announcement, however the first one's I was actually able to bring to a show was for Watsky. Anyway they're all my babies and I love them so much.

PS: I only give them out after the show is over, cause I'm so scared of anyone trying to actually use one of these things to get into a show. I also reserve these for the community and not really the artist, however I did make personal ones for Watsky to give to him.

Note: All these shows were fantastic and such good times, so this won't a hard rank, but more of a soft one instead. I also haven't done any official concert reviews since like 2022 (SHAME ON ME) but I do plan to get those posted this year, because this blog feels incomplete without them, so this is just a taste of that.

The Speaking Our Language Tour - Boys Like Girls

I bought this ticket so last minute cause I didn't know if I wanted to go to any show at the time. That being said, do you see that lineup?! There was no way I could let myself pass that up. This thing was so stacked and such a ridiculously fun time. State Champs called us the best crowd of the whole tour. My 30+ year old body wanted to die when Martin from Boys Like Girls said they were playing 50 songs, but I made it through and however sore and tired I felt afterwards was hella worth it! I think BLG in December will have to be how I see them from now until forever.

Disclaimer: They didn't actually play 50 full songs, it was more like lets mix some covers in with bits and pieces of their original work. So that's how I made it through.

Yellowcard Celebrating 20 Years of Ocean Avenue - Yellowcard

The moment I saw this show was announced I knew where all my money was going. I'm pretty sure I did pre-sale the day they let me. If you know me or have been following this blow for a while now, Ocean Avenue is one of my top 10 favorite albums of all time and one of the first albums that I knew to be a front to back piece of work. Essentially what I'm saying is that there was no way, I wasn't going to this show. I forced myself to feel good enough to be first in line lol. I think the only reason why this show gets second place is because Yellowcard skipped a couple songs (hella rude) so it wasn't technically a full album show. The show was still amazing, it just when you cut a few tracks out, I'm gonna be a little butt hurt.

Watsky Intention Tour - Watsky

This was another show that I don't think I waited around to buy tickets for. Covid rescheduled and rescheduled and eventually canceled the last set of Watsky tickets that I held, so this was a little bit of a comeback tour for him. Somberly it was also potentially Watsky's last full cross-country/international tour as a musician and although I was gonna go regardless, that made it even more important to me. I was sad that I was seeing him for what could be the last time without my best friend, who I'd seen Watsky with the majority of the time in like the last 12 years, so I've kinda avoided reminiscing about it. (Which is probably why it's at 3.) I will say though, that it was for sure a really GOOD show. Feed The Biirds gets me every time and Wax is just continuously stepping his game up. Watsky said if this is it, then we gone do up right and across the board, he did not disappoint. The whole set was built to cover every album and give fans of any stage something to take home with them.

He also livestreamed the Metro date for free so people who couldn't make a date in person got to still experience the show or so other's could re-watch and re-live the experience from their couches. So technically I got to see the show twice, live and from my couch. I just love how accessible he wants to make his art.

The intention tour ended up not being the last time I would see Watsky in person, George did a small Art Show Pop Up/Meet & Greet tour at the end of the year. There I got to thank him again and do the whole send off thing in person which was really nice. I even made special, more personal faux tickets for the occasion to give to him, so that was cool.

On the side: I didn't make tickets for them, but I did go to a couple metal shows at a brewery, which I think is hella tight. I mainly watched my friend's band (Goat Hill Massacre) play and ate pizza called The Mortician. I watched other bands too of course and they were also fun, but again I was there mainly for my friend's band. Anyway I wanted to still shout them out cause they were technically shows that I went to this year, had fun at and felt pretty cool while attending. I just need to do the ear plug thing the next time I see them cause I need to save my ears, but also because metal ain't no joke lol.

Cinderella III: A Twist in Time (2007)

Between 1994 and 2008, Walt Disney Pictures was making sequels to just about any of their movies. Mostly, you got stuff like Mulan II and The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea. At best, they MIGHT appeal to young children who were die-hard fans of the originals. Before you dismiss all of them, however, take a look at Cinderella III: A Twist in Time. It may be the best of the direct-to-video sequels that came out of that era of Disney animated films.

After their wedding, Cinderella (voiced by Jennifer Hale) and Prince Philipp (voiced by Christopher Daniel Barnes) are celebrating with The Fairy Godmother (voiced by Russi Taylor) when Anastasia Tremaine (Tress MacNeille) spots them. Realizing what the fairy must've done on the night at the ball, Lady Tremaine (Susan Blakeslee) steals the magic wand, uses it to turn The Fairy Godmother to stone and then alters the the past. Now, when the Grand Duke (Rob Paulsen) tried to put the glass slipper on Anastasia, it fit and Cinderella’s happily ever after is about to vanish.

I know you’re raising an eyebrow at the concept of a straight-to-DVD second sequel to a movie made 50+ years prior but hear me out. Firstly, this is a “true sequel” rather than a re-tread of the first. Lady Tremaine was so wicked and cruel when we met her. Don’t you think her hatred for Cinderella would keep going? She’s always wanted her daughters to be above Cinderella and now, she’s found a way to do it. Right away, you’ve got high stakes. Once Anastasia and the Prince marry, it’s over. Cinderella will never have an opportunity to live happily ever after and who knows what the kingdom will turn into with Lady Tremaine in the castle. Saving the day will be an uphill climb, as Cinderella will have to do everything on her own -no fairy will come to her rescue this time. At best, she can call upon her bird and mouse friends (Gus - voiced by Corey Burton - and Jaq - by Rob Paulsen - return). If those odds weren't steep enough, Lady Tremaine, Anastasia and Drizella (Russi Taylor) all remember what happened before the timeline was altered. No one else does, including the Prince, whom they promptly mind-control using magic.

It may come as a disappointment that A Twist in Time doesn’t really acknowledge Cinderella II: Dreams Come True but it’s almost as if the people who worked on this film looked at the previous one and said, “You know what, I think we’re onto something here… can we try it again and give it our all this time?” Like its predecessor, Cinderella III spends a lot of time on Anastasia. She gets plenty of character growth as she begins questioning what her future will be like. She's about to marry a man who does not love her, all because her bully of a mother wants more power and (more importantly) to get revenge against someone who’s never done anything wrong to them. This anxiety leads to some tender moments between the King (Andre Stojka) as he confides with his future stepdaughter.

Overall, the quality of the animation, voice acting, humour, romance, drama and characters are consistent enough with the original (without ever matching it) that undiscerning viewers will be fooled into thinking the movies were made within a short period. The one area where there is a significant drop in quality are the songs. None of them are bad but neither are they any special or memorable. Another element to improve would be the film’s opening. Cinderella III= only lasts 70 minutes so the plot wastes no time getting started and it really could’ve used a bit more room to breathe. I won’t hold these flaws against it too harshly. In a perfect world, this film directed by Frank Nissen would’ve gotten a bigger budget and a theatrical release but no way was that going to happen. Ever. Who would buy tickets for a time-travel/alternate-universe version of a beloved classic made half a century later, particularly considering the reputation of Disney sequels? The fact is everyone working on this movie cared. They cared A LOT. They made the best movie they could with the resources available and they should be applauded for it.

Cinderella III: A Twist in Time is a good film. It’s an engaging sequel that brings the elements and characters you love back, tells an original story, and surmounts the obstacles placed in front of it spectacularly. It maintains the spirit of the original, down to the most “action-packed” scene of the film: a thrilling chase that’s a mirror-world opposite of Cinderella’s ride inside the pumpkin carriage on the night of the ball. I hope this movie finds the audience it deserves. Anyone who catches it should stay for the end credits to see a bonus scene halfway, along with several amusing gags and an epilogue as well. Pokéchronology, Volume I: Yellow

Day 12

We're nearing the end of the first volume of Pokéchronology. I beat not just one, but two gyms today: the final two. Which just leaves the Elite Four, the Champion, and whatever postgame Pokémon Yellow has to offer. Depending on the level of grinding required, that could only be two or three more days.

I've been looking at what it will take to complete the Pokédex as well. Between my copy of Yellow and Crystal, it should be possible to obtain every Generation I Pokémon in both versions. However, due to some complexities, I can't do that while maintaining my save files on both. There are certain Pokémon that you can miss out on depending on your decisions in-game, which means I'd have to create new saves to get Pokémon I would otherwise miss. I don't particularly want to do that, so I'm looking into some alternatives.

With that preamble out of the way, I'll go over what happened today. Spoilers ahoy, obvs.

Sea Route 21

This is the final route before I complete the tour around Kanto and start revisiting areas to clean up and get ready for Victory Road. I've used my Thunderbolt TM on Holy now so I kept them in front to deal with most of the Water types I was being spammed with on the way up the route. I tried to give Mycoboss some action as well, since they were going to be my weapon against Sabrina's gym.

There's nothing really of note here, though I do have to give a shoutout to the guy who just has six Magikarp on his team. He's the only trainer outside of presumably the Elite Four and the Champion who has six Pokémon, and they're all just fucking Magikarp. What a chad.

The route ends back at Pallet Town, and I do a little battling in the patch of grass at the very end. There doesn't seem to be anything new in there though, just some Pidgey. I drop by my house to heal and get my items sorted. Maxed out the item storage again, so I tried to clean it up a bit but for some reason you can't get rid of items like the S.S. Ticket which are literally useless now. That was annoying, but I'll have to make do, I guess. I withdraw a couple of TMs that I can buy at the Celadon Department Store anyway so I can sell them.

After that I do a quick restock in Celadon, buying a bunch of Lemonades and selling those TMs before I have Pear Fly me to Saffron City.

Fighting Dojo

Before challenging the gym I just have one thing I need to do, which is challenge the Fighting Dojo. I could have done this much earlier as the trainers inside only have their Pokémon at level 30 or so, but I figured I would deal with it when I challenged Sabrina. Holy plows through essentially the whole dojo with raw Special, and earns me a Hitmonchan, who I name Star Plat. If you're looking for a strong Fighting type, Hitmonchan isn't a bad way to go since they learn Fire, Ice, and Thunder Punch, which gives them great type coverage and their stats are arguably better than Hitmonlee. Hitmonlee has higher Attack, but most of the moves they learn don't have 100% accuracy, which REALLY sucks.

I don't really have a need for a Fighting type on my team though, and getting Star Plat. up to speed would take some time anyway. So I won't be using them, and I head straight for Saffron Gym instead.

Saffron Gym

It's basically just a teleporter maze like the Silph Building was, though much less complex thanks to its single floor and nine rooms. The trainers here have a variety of Pokémon, but as you'd expect they're mostly Psychic types. I brought out Miles to deal with the occasional Ghost type and Prinzessin for the few Poison types that I encountered.

Now, Sabrina's fight is kind of gimmicky. She has three Pokémon, all level 50: Abra, Kadabra, and Alakazam. My strategy here was to tank up Mycoboss with a full set of X Specials, because the Abra line has extremely high Special and I can't rely on not being explicitly weak to Psychic to tank attacks. This would enable Mycoboss, with their high Attack stat, to decimate Sabrina's team with Leech Life.

That didn't stop Sabrina from throwing a wrench into my plans though. The only move her Abra seems to know is Flash, which isn't very threatening but it does reduce your accuracy. No matter, I still manage to land the Leech Life and take out Abra with one attack.

Sabrina's other Pokémon aren't much different. Mycoboss took substantial damage at one point during the battle, but easily healed it back. I pretty much just spammed Leech Life until it managed to connect, because all of her Pokémon faint to a single hit. Yeah, the Abra line's HP and Defense stats are literally fucking garbage. The textbook definition of a glass cannon. That's why a move with only 20 Base Power, albeit 2x effective and on a 'mon with a pretty good Attack stat, is able to OHKO them.

So I got the TM for Psywave and beat another gym. But why stop there? I could go straight to the final gym from there, and it didn't take long to beat Sabrina so I might as well.

Viridian Gym

Here it is, the final gym. Humorously, one of the least threatening. The trainers here use a lot of different Pokémon though, not most of which are Ground type. There were a lot of Fighting types actually. But because they have low Special and Holy is a decent Special attacker, they all pretty much get wiped out by Ice Beam or Surf.

By the way, this gym has a sort of maze thing going on too, where you have to take a specific route to get to the end. Beyond that there isn't much really to say, you can pick up a Revive here I guess but otherwise it's pretty standard without much of a gimmick to it. I will say the layout is fairly interesting, and the trainers themselves to physically block you from taking certain routes.

On to Giovanni. He's back once again, stronger than ever. Well, as strong as a trainer whose team is mostly Ground type can be, anyway. That said, he opens the battle with a level 50 Dugtrio, who's faster than Holy and OHKO's them with Fissure. Figures, the ONE TIME I actually get hit with a 30% accuracy OHKO move, it's on Holy who I was going to use to sweep most of Giovanni's team. So much for that, I guess.

Good thing I have two Water types on my team. Out goes Ominous, who drains most of Dugtrio's HP in one Bubble Beam. They survive to get in a cheeky Sand Attack before Ominous finishes them off with a Bite. The next Pokémon is Persian, who I figure Prinzessin is the best match for. They do some pretty heavy damage though, and of course Persian knows Slash so Prinzessin takes a ton of damage and I can't keep her in for a second turn.

Maybe Mycoboss can take a hit. Well, yes, they can, but there's no way they're outspeeding Persian, so keeping them in seems like a bad move as well. I decide that Miles is my best bet, aiming for raw Special and Speed stats. Fortunately, Persian decides not to do anything meaningful on the turn I bring out Miles, so he gets to knock it out with a single Psychic.

Up next is Giovanni's own Nidoqueen, who again decides to do something useless as I nearly OHKO her with another Psychic. I have Miles use Confusion to finish the job. Nidoking is very similar. Which just leaves Rhydon. They miss their Rock Slide, leaving Miles to clean them up and win me the battle.

It was a decently fun fight, although it might just have been because I didn't get to use Holy thanks to some RNG bullshit. Either way, I'm glad Giovanni put up a bit more of a fight than Blaine and Sabrina. He gives me the TM for that silly move Fissure, and with all eight gym badges in hand, I close things out for the day.

One thing I haven't done yet is play at the Rocket Game Corner. I'm not sure it'll be of much use to me, but I know there are a couple of TMs you can only obtain from there. I'll probably give it a go just to see what it's all about, though I'm not expecting much besides a very basic die roll of a gambling minigame.

Then it's off to Victory Road, where I intend to train before I make my move for the championship.

While I was watching the New Japan show I started to wonder what Japans covid restrictions were like nowadays because eventually I want to travel to Tokyo for the Wrestle Kingdom event. While I was doing this it dawned on me: what are the USA’s covid restrictions? I’m going there in less than three weeks and it never occurred to me or Dad to ask the travel agents or the post office cunts. I checked the gov.uk website and it said that you need to provide proof of at least double vaccination when you go which is fucking good to know. I requested a COVID pass from the NHS website which it sent me immediately. Fuck my dog it was lucky that I looked into this or else we might have been denied entry to the States and I would have had to stay in customs for the entire holiday. Richard E Grant is doing a live tour and Richard Herring encouraged his followers who are going to the show to ask him why he won't allow the interview he did with him to go out. I was tempted to buy a ticket just so I could do this but I have a very expensive holiday coming up not to mention the costs the getting my bike fixed again will incur so it wouldn't be wise to spend a sizable amount of money just to ask a question to an actor that I'm not even a fan of a question that I only sort of want to know the answer which he probably won't even answer. If I did he would probably just roll his eyes and ask for the next question or it might piss him off and he might have me thrown out which would be very embarrassing and being a Lakers fan I have suffered enough embarrassment this year to last me a lifetime. I did wonder what the legality would be if Richard were to write up a transcript of the interview and then act it out with Ian Boldsworth playing the part of Richard E Grant. In order to stop an NHS strike the government have finally given in and agreed to pump an extra £2.6 billion into the NHS and give workers a 4% pay rise. I'm happy for the NHS staff who will finally be fairly compensated for their hard work and while I know there will be some idiots who criticise the staff for going on strike sometimes you make very reasonable requests but the government refuse to acknowledge you which is when you need to take drastic action. I always wonder what the critics of the strikes would do if they were in the NHS staff's shoe. If they were working 50 hours a week, making shit money, barely able to pay their bills and even having to pay for their own parking space and they asked the government to do something to rectify this and the government responded by saying there wasn't enough money left in the budget and then gave themselves a pay rise for doing fuck all, how would they react? Would they just shrug and say "Well, them's the brakes" and go back to work on foot because they can't even afford a bus while munching a raw turnip?

🎵Song of the Day: When You Were Young----The Killers

Its 8 o’ clock and I’ve been taking it easy all day. I still have not washed my bedsheets. But I did go driving yesterday. I went and picked up my transcripts and handed it to my college. The next step is to register for next semester’s classes. At my old high school a teacher who I fucking hated (story for another day) tried to have a whole ass conversation with me in the parking lot and I just smiled and nodded. I plucked my eyebrows. I get compliments on my eyebrows’ shape all the time, but that’s because I’m so diligent with them. My right eyebrow is pissing me off. It’s all wonky and shit. I’m sure I’m the only one who cares but it still bothers me. 

I had fun with Sophia. We went to Fire house subs and then to the amc. Before that we went to Target. I never go to Target anymore. I got some lighters for my candles, some more charcoal toothbrushes, and encouraged Sophia to get some (she comments on my teeth being really white), some cartilage rings and the actual summers eve brand, whenever I ask my mom for some she gets the offbrand kind because its ‘cheaper’. There wasn’t much good playing at the amc because there never is. I told Sophia we wouldn’t have to buy tickets in advance because it won’t be crowded. Nobody goes and sees movies anymore, for many reasons. We went to see Violent Night. I knew it wouldn’t be that good. We were kind of debating seeing ‘A Strange World’ or whatever that movie is called because apparently its really woke and we wanted to just make fun of it. (shes the only friend I’d be able to do that with). I reallyy wanted to see Black Adam. I’m a huge dc fan and I saw a clip of that one scene playing ‘Paint it Black’ (love that song)

Violent Night was good to see as a Christmas movie, but it was not a good movie. At least we didn’t give any money to disney. Sophia only bought one ticket so we could just find which theatre was playing it and I snuck in with the small popcorn she wanted. It was funny because when we went in there was a couple our age sitting in the back, clearly pissed that we were there. Sophia hated the movie and I said “I told youuu”. She insisted we see it. We kept looking backwards to see if the couple was doing anything lmao

I didn’t go jogging this morning like I did yesterday morning. Let me jog tomorrow morning. 

Its been like 40-50 degrees consistently the last three days, accompanied by rain. If you don’t think thats bad youre fucking delusional. Its been cold as shit. 

So a little update on the bus biting situation at my old high school. Apparently the vp didn’t get into any trouble (i know shocking). He didn’t do anything wrong. Ofc everyone is still trying to make it a race issue. My old high school has always been like this. Filled with mindless fucking animals. I’ve witnessed everything there. I personally filmed a video of a girl getting her shit rocked by a guy twice her size. I still have it deep in my camera roll along with a bunch of other fight videos. I got into two fights myself. Ofc with other girls. My freshman year this nasty weird girl in my fake friend group gave a dude head behind the staircase. Someone recorded it and started spreading it. It took a while to actually get out. Because I remember her confiding in us about it. I wasn’t really close with her (she would occasionally try to talk to me before it happened and I was always nice because thats who I am). I remember after it got out and around lunch time everyone was staring at her and at us by extension. I got to tell all the classes all the juicy details because I knew all about it. 

Anyway let me stop talking about my nasty old high school. I’m going to get ready for bed. Tomorrow I want to go jogging, FINALLY put up my Christmas tree, and register for spring classes. Let’s manifest it.
