So, reason for radio silence. If you remember like, late last week or whenever, I mentioned I was trying to find whatever smoke alarm I had in my bedroom was doing the low battery beep. The really annoying beep. The beep I cannot easily sleep with, because I can hear that fucker in from the BASEMENT, so imagine how loud it is sleeping WITH it.

Well, after winding up tearing down all THREE of the detectors in my room - the smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, AND the heat point detector - and after some screaming, crying and swearing, and calling the alarm company because I cannot sleep with this loud as fuck beep every goddamn 30 seconds I am losing my mind, I can confirm it was none of those alarms and the beep is coming from the ceiling.

The best guess of me and the security company is that some FUCKHEAD during reno accidentally forgot to remove or disconnect an old alarm from the ceiling before sealing it up.

This means I now have two options.

I can either bust a hole in the ceiling trying to find it - which anyone who’s followed me through last year’s fiberglass nightmare will know I am VERY terrified to do - or... I wait the little fucker out, which google says could take anywhere from seven days to a month before the battery dies.

I am now in a war between my sanity and the thirty second beep. I finally, finally found some earplugs the other day that cut out maybe 75% of the beep (all the others hadn’t done shit to block that particular sound out), so I at least slept ok last night, which is likely why I had energy to finish editing today. But it has not been fun. However, I will literally die before I open up that ceiling again, so I’m determined to outlast it.
