season one kai had a kind of personality that just isnt there in the other 2 seasons. personal theory: in season one at some level his attempt to be cool and just his entire mojo is like somewhat funny, like its cool but its also funny. i feel like in the later seasons they try so hard to make him cool that they take the personality out of being cool. not to say i dont love vforce kai and g rev kai. i love how vforce kai shows how much he cares and is just rlly nice (wyatt hilary zeo etc) and grev kai is unhinged and also his whole embracing my inner darkness after losing one (1) battle against brooklyn is iconic, but there is just smth so special abt season one kai like i cant explain it lmfao.
I know many people find Kai slightly out of character in V-Force (I never did honestly, I've thought it through and I can see the connection throughout the three seasons) but in case you haven't watched the original version, Ray actually makes a reference to season 1 as to why Kai was refusing to train Wyatt.
Honestly it says a lot. After Tyson and the BladeBreakers manage to get Kai on the right track in season 1 on the iceberg, the drift in Kai's personality was visible. Of course, he was still the same old cold Kai, but he had good intentions unlike before. Funny dub reference, Tyson actually calls Kai 'corny' when he noticed the change in him.
This also explains why Kai was far more caring of his teammates in V-Force. Overall I definitely feel like he was having an existential crisis throughout this season and I get why but I can't put it together lmao.
I wish I had the patience to sit and write about Kai and connect the dots between the three seasons but oh well.
just finished ep 44, them giving sisco an incredibly anticlimatic match against free is the funniest shit theyve pulled all season 😭😭 unsatisfying?? yeah but this shit is hilarious
kyoya was one of the funniest guys in beyblade. from arrogant ass in a gang, to manipulated guy who goes feral, to lone lion(?) and then gradually starting to show his softer side and open up a little bit again (and his gay as HELL queerplatonic rivalry with gingka where these 2 bitches were SO OBSESSED with one another that even cour1 ryuuga was practically in the way of their homoerotic admiration of one another as bladers, also benkei who i think he secretly cares for whilst benkei loves him for sure as following kyoya around the world is his PASSION).
see look it so funny this how he started, as a very prideful guy with a huge ego that would often fight in ways that gave him easy advantages #thuglife stealing beyblade points and breaking them for... street cred? who knows.
then thanks to losing 2 gingka and feelin weak enlists into the villain gang and doji's mindbreak training (which is like hell with wolves and mountains) results in him bein like a sadist who would break people's spirits and who would start cackling out of nowhere whilst breaking beyblades (because secretly him and leone his beyblade are crying and traumatised inside which was p deep)
his love for his one true friend during his times of abandonment and loneliness, his beyblade leone brings back the most vulnerable and innocent moments of his life so he changes his path into a whole new one, one where he can grow strong and also takes care of his beyblade this time
THIS BEYBLADE IS HIS LIFE! IT WAS BORN WITH KYOYA! THE ONE TRUE CONSTANT IN HIS LIFE!!!!
but then over time he really soothes out as a character and becomes one of the best of the cast (and this was just season 1 alone). his growth was pretty decent. also a true case of 'watch out cuz this ahole may end up being a very great character'
i guess remembering the core of his identity, and his love of his beyblade with the help of friends who could help him before he fell victim to even more of doji's mindbreak and his own self-destruction, he got to see a kinder version of the world and in his own cold yet caring way, does little things to show he cares. though he tries to make it subtle (ITS OBVIOUS THOUGH HES NOT GOOD AT HIDING HIS CARE DESPITE HIS HARSH WORDS)
My contribution to @mcytblraufest! I created an au based off 2000s toy based shounen, like Yu Gi Oh, Beyblade, and Digimon. Jimmy's our protagonist who's come to Tango's shop to learn all about Hermit TCG, a card game so popular the world practically runs on it!
I got to work with two amazing writers who each did their own take on the concept!
@vampiricmycelium has written Hermit TCG: Save Your Brother
@drunkintergalacticemotions has written Season 1: The Strange Card
Both are multi-chapter and will continue to update until the 9th, so keep an eye on them and here for more to come!
