TIT Thursday: A Swan by any other Name

Emma joins Killian’s crew disguised as a man. Killian doesn’t figure it out. The poor dummies fall in love.

“Please don’t.”

Killian turned his smile from the flirtatious barmaid to Robin’s exasperated grimace. “I don’t know what you’re talking about."

“We’re setting sail at dawn, mate. Last time you looked at someone like that we didn’t leave until sundown.” 

“You’re exaggerating.”

“Am I? What about Camelot?” 

There was a begrudging pause, then a sigh. “Very well.”

“Thank you.”

“But that poor woman’s disappointment is on your conscience,” he warns. 

“She’ll survive.”

“You’re in a mood,” Killian pointed out. 

“I just want to get home on time - I’m not sure I can protect you from Marian if you’re the cause of our delay once again.” 

Robin’s wife had been forced to stop traveling with them a few months ago, when her morning sickness had begun to manifest as sea sickness and the two of them had agreed that she would wait until the baby was born to return to the crew. 

Robin hadn’t been any fun since. 

“And you will,” Killian promises. “As soon as Smee is done signing on this new batch of recruits we can -” 

He stopped, having turned towards the little table by the front where Smee was stationed, just in time to see a man slip inside, keeping to the shadows as he tried to edge across the tavern unseen. But the dim glow of the lamplights couldn’t hide him from Hook’s gaze, not his ashy hair that fell to his shoulders from under a wide-brimmed hat, nor the handsome face, shadowed by a day’s growth, the wide, bright eyes under dark brows and a determined strength in his expression that belied his lean frame. He was striking, there was no doubt about that, but it was that countenance - determined and defiant, like he was ready and waiting to face down any opponent - that drew Killian’s attention. 

Robin, who had followed his gaze, let out a pained sound, but Killian couldn’t tear his eyes from the stranger. “Please. I’m begging you. Last time you looked at someone like that, we couldn’t find you for three days…”

“Ah, but what a three days it was,” Killian beamed whistfully. He felt for his friend, truly. But there was something intangible but undeniably captivating about the man. He drew his lip between his teeth and Killian followed the movement, drawn to the curve of his mouth, to the thought of what it might feel like against him, skin burning hot at the images the simple action stirred. There was no helping it now - he had to know him.

“Killian, I beg you. Think of my wife, my unborn child…”

But he was already on his feet. “Tell Mariane I’ll make it up to her.”

@pyramultimuse (from Killian) He decided to grow his hair and beard out. So many others always teased him as being such a clean cut pirate. He liked how he looked but when Edward suggested that he'd look good with a beard and longer hair, Killian decided to grow it out for him. Two months was enough time to get his hair shoulder length, surprisingly it had a bit of a curl to the locks. His facial hair he kept neat and styled it where the longer parts were above and below his lip like a goatee and the rest of bis face a bit shorter. He did keep it very neat, shaving the stray hairs from his cheeks and neck for his comfort. He couldn't wait to see Edward again, would the other captain even recognize him?

ᒥ☠ᒧ—        He sat on the stairs to the quarter deck, waiting not so patiently for the Jolly to make anchorage next to the Queen Anne. Only a few minutes before the man on the tops called out the spotted sails on the horizon, and when Edward had a glance through the spy glass, he immediately recognized the vessel as Captain Hook's Jolly Roger. He raised his blacks as an invitation for the other pirating ship to approach.

Once the Jolly was mere meters away, Edward stood at the rail, readying the gang plank for the other caption to come aboard the once-French frigate. Gang plank in place, he took in Killian's appearance and began to laugh. Not because it looked bad, it was very, very attractive to him, but the change was vastly different than Killian's clean-shaven, sharp and short appearance. "Oy, ya gonna be contending for the title of infamous bearded pirate, huh? Captian Brownbeard, ya have permission ta come aboard the Queen Anne's Revenge!" He jokes, a big, goofy grin under his own beard.

It was hard for him to not recognize the other, thanks to that shiny, silver hook strapped to his left wrist. However, the change in hairstyle was different, again not a bad different, but just different. "Been slackin' on a hair cut or what, mate?"

I wanted to join this wonderful community and chronicle some of my writing projects that I plan to one day turn into an audio roleplay series, maybe even a book, who knows. I'm a Voice Actor and you can call me Fiend. I very much enjoy creating supernatural worlds and am inspired by podcasts like Welcome To Nightvale and The Magnus Archives.

About The Projects

I have created a multilayered Universe for my projects, in which I write different character-driven narratives that affect a world consumed by mystery and the supernatural. These are meant to be interactive stories, so each character interacts with the listener and will be voiced by me in my upcoming audio series!

Beast Beneath The Moonlight: A story about Gabriel, an idealistic intern at a hospital whose life goal is to save as many people as he can. He is turned into a werewolf and is then forced to confront his inner beast, contemplate mortality and understand the true meaning of strength.

Written in Blood: Killian, a very old vampire from a bygone era, struggling to cope with the death of his lover centuries before, trying his best to live his remaining days in peace until his very bloody past starts to catch up to him.

Fiends With Benefits: Levi, a half-demon caught between the Mortal and Supernatural world, expected to be the best by both worlds while not being accepted by either. He lives under his predecessor's shadow until a plot that could unravel Fiend Society is brought to light.

There will be more stories within this world, so stay tuned.

1) Not Broken At All

Killian gives a short, humourless laugh, head hanging slightly as he works a dampened cloth over the bloodied skin of his neck. “Believe me, Swan, it’s very easy to do nothing.”

She already hates the idea of this shop being sold and taken over by someone else or turned into a saloon or a tack shop or something else less wonderful and beautiful than the dimly lit, clustered little book store.

"I don’t think anyone knows enough about you to warn me off… or warn me on.” 

“That’s not a thing.”

“Sure it is.” She pulls the empty stopper away. “Sorry, Chewie, that’s all of it.” 

Oh, hell, she’s bloody named it.

The quartermaster rolled his eyes. “Aye, Captain. Just remember, killing one on the first day invokes fear; killing two invokes mutiny.”

“It was terrifying”

“I terrify you?”

“Aye. frighteningly powerful, awe inspiring and strong willed, I knew that she could destroy me without even intending to. And I knew that I would never again want to be apart from her.”

“I’m reminded of the first time I fell in.”

“Oi! What the hell was that for?” Will gasps, cradling his arm protectively to his side. Emma slaps it again. “Ow!”

“Are you kidding me?” Smack. “After six months -” smack. “I finally get him to ask me out -” smack. “I finally get him home. And you do this.” She lands three slaps in a row to his shoulder.

“Stop hitting me!” 

“No -” smack. “Do you have any idea how much goddamn furniture I bought? For nothing!”

It was a bright, sunny, and perfectly pleasant afternoon when Cora burst into the room and disrupted it. 

“Have you heard?” She shouted, forcing all three men to jump in their seats and take note of her. Killian set down his book, wondering what could possibly have thrown his stepmother into such a state. His brother rushed to her side, trying to urge her to sit as she panted in excitement as though she’d run all the way home from the market. Their father barely looked up from his cards. “Misthaven Castle is let at last!” 

11) Remember the Night AU (I forgot about this one)

“Listen, if don’t come with me then I won’t go to Boston. I can’t let you stay in this city with nowhere to go. It’s my fault you’re in this mess and I feel a certain responsibility for you.”

“You didn’t make me steal the watch,” she deadpans. 

He tries again. “If you don’t come then you’re going to make me miss Christmas with my family. Can you live with that?”
