#bioshock rebirth
Text
So...despite I've talked about this before. Despite I wrote some more for part 1. But remember when I talked about taking a long break from writing Bioshock Rebirth and all that?
That is still happening. It's still a long break. But...I give up for. I give up on it for a long time...
Yeah...it's just exhausting for me and...I don't want to work on it for a long time...I want to focus on other things. Even though Bioshock is a franchise I still deeply love. But when writing it...I just maybe feel like I should start over sometime or whatever else...but yeah...
I just found out Ragin Nation lives in Canada...I'm watching his the journey to Transformers 2007 video. Despite I skipped through the video and mainly started at the part where he talked about Michael Bay I think...
Anyway yeah, I wanted to announce this

i finished bioshock 2 today in about ten ish hours in total and WOW it was amazing. bioshock 1 was pretty good but the sequel was so much better by like a landslide, without it even having that many significant differences in the gameplay. keep in mind i can't say everything i like about this game and this isn't a testament to all the things i actively enjoyed, there are very little things i disliked about this game. the only things i just didn't care for were the characters and that isn't a flaw of the game, it's just my personal preference.
(this isnt a spoiler btw its introduced in like the 2nd level) the new little sister mechanics where you can either adopt them like the big daddies you fought in the first game is a really cool idea without it being immediately jarring, just the idea of the character you play as not being a human so the story can have more creative liberties and it won't be rehashy of the first game is just really creative and fun. in the first game there was really no differences if you chose to spare or harvest the little sisters besides getting a good or bad ending, but here if you adopt one you get more adam at different intervals but it takes time, or you could just harvest them
(okay spoiler territory ahead) i was kind of predicting that something similar to the first game would take place, where the character guiding you through everything would actually be a bad no good guy or at least something similar but i was pleasantly suprised that wasn't what happened, it actually being the opposite where you're involuntarily forced to kill the person who has got you to this point. really nice subversion of what the first game would have you to expect as well.
(more spoilers later in text) i can't really praise anything about the characters because i honestly don't significantly like any bioshock character at all, and even though i've played the first two mainline games it still feels like theres so much lore i don't understand. the plot with eleanor and delta is compelling and different enough lore wise from the first game to stand on it's own, and im not going to slander their relationship at all but at the same time i can't write about it because i just don't really care about them. gil alexander was really entertaining though what a silly guy.
i'm comfortable with not playing bioshock infinite for like. another 3 months. now i just have to worry about finishing amnesia a machine for pigs and rebirth then i'll write lengthy paragraphs on how i felt on those. and maybe they'll be better structured because i actually know the lore of those games well YIPPIE!!

I usually don't buy new games until I played or tried to play at least all of the games I have (I try to leave max 2 unplayed games).
This time I have a bit more because of the holiday sales, but this is my list of future games to play:
Icewind Dale 2
Sunday Gold
Inside
Seven: Enhanced Edition (I tried before but I was so bad at it! I will try again before deciding to abandon)
Morrowind
Spellforce 3
Plus I have a bunch I have gotten for free, so I just have them and I will play maybe one day:
South of the Circle
King's Bouty: The Legend
Broken Sword
Nehrim
Bioshock 1
Bioshock 2
Bioshock Infinite
Amnesia: Rebirth
Encased
Dishonored
Eternal Threads
Fallout 2
Jotun Valhalla Edition
Kingdom Come Deliverance
Metro Last Light
Sherlock Holmes Crime and Punishments
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter
And these are the cursed abandoned ones, I hate them all. Leave me alone:
Sunless Sea
Gothic
Anachronox
Gods Will be Watching
Beyond Divinity
Fallout 1
Greedfall
Dragon Commander
Dark Messiah of Might & Magic
Assassin's Creed

This has been banging around in my brain, basically.
Hero and RGB got close to the end of the story until something happened, Hate injured RGB to the point being on the edge of death but not to the point for negative to appear, in fear of loosing her guide Hero makes a deal with Hate.
She’ll give herself up in return she’s spares the world and the people in it. Hate takes this deal but with a twist when she ‘heals’ RGB she sticks him in a constant state of death and rebirth aka he’s constantly negative. He’s put as hero protector again but this time to do Hates bidding as Hero is controlled by hate(kinda like @/goosemagician anti-hero au I guess) Hero has moments of clarity where she’ll ask others for help before falling back under gates control and negative coming over.
Negative/RGB kind of becomes a mindless drone his only purpose being to follow and protect hero Think a big daddy from bioshock. If he even begins to slip back into being himself hate will either through hero dump water on him or she’ll do something herself to bring him back to the negative form.
During this the past heros have to work together to save them from Hates grasp and try to return their friends to normal though it’s more difficult than you would think to get a hold of a child and try to get her away from hates control especially when her guardian can tear a fears head off and use it as a sword. But they know to get RGB out of his negative state the best option would be to get hero back to normal.
Idk it needs some polishing but an idea I had idk what to call this au yet if there are name suggestions feel free to let me know
Maybe “The Soldiers of Hate” or something Idk

Krissie's Big List of DRM-Free Games!
(This is an ongoing project that I will continuously update as I find more DRM-Free games to recommend) Update: It sadly seems I may not be able to add any more links, I may have reached the limit for one post.
--------------------------------
What do I consider "DRM-Free"?
I've seen people argue and nitpick over what they consider DRM-Free on reddit, so I wanted to be sure to clarify. I consider a modern PC game DRM Free if I don't need to be connected to the internet or log into anything to play the game. I don't necessarily mind the older PC games where you have to enter a CD key during installation, even though this could also be considered DRM. WUUUUGHALGBORK! WHY DO YOU CARE SO MUCH ABOUT DRM?! JUST CONFORM!
I can speak from personal experiences of situations in which case I've been fucked over by DRM: - My steam copy of Cities XL is impossible to play now because it requires a log in account from a site that doesn't exist anymore.
Not too long ago Epic games delisted all the Unreal games from digital store fronts, making them all harder to get a hold of. Unreal Tournament 4 never even got a physical release so it's only even still around thanks to fans saving and fixing up the game files before Epic cut off all access to them.
I was once locked out of playing my own copy of Minecraft for an extended period of time because something got messed up with my login.
Internet died and I was unable to run some of my games because they require constant internet connection to fully function (or function at all). This includes titles such as Killing Floor 2, or Red Dead Redemption 2, or Quake Champions.
-------------------------
A list of helpful links:
These sites and groups are part of what inspired me to start keeping track of and seeking to support DRM Free PC games. I've found their info to be very helpful at times, but there have also been times on the wikis where I would find info to be out of date as sometimes companies will decide to be mega-douchey and patch DRM into games that previously didn't have it.

-------------------------------
Amnesia Rebirth
DRM-Free on Epic Game Store and GOG.
Amnesia The Dark Descent & Machine for Pigs
The steam version of both game has an executable called "Amnesia_NoSteam" which allows you to play without steam or internet. https://store.steampowered.com/app/57300/Amnesia_The_Dark_Descent/ https://store.steampowered.com/app/239200/Amnesia_A_Machine_for_Pigs/
You can also get the games DRM-Free on GOG. https://www.gog.com/en/game/amnesia_the_dark_descent https://www.gog.com/en/game/amnesia_a_machine_for_pigs
Bioshock
DRM-Free on the humble store and GOG.
Bioshock 2
DRM-Free on GOG.
Blood:One Unit Whole Blood
The steam version uses Dosbox, so it should be usable with a source port. Unfortunately, this version of the game was delisted on steam so this is only available to people who already have it in their library. Thanks, assholes! Luckily, it is also available DRM-Free on GOG
Bubsy Two-Fur
This compilation of the SNES versions of Bubsy 1 & 2 are DRM Free on steam. PC Gaming Wiki reports otherwise, but I tested it myself and atleast as of 10-8-2023 the game will run without steam open.
Cave Story+
DRM-Free on Epic Game Store and GOG.
Chex Quest HD
DRM-Free on Steam. And it's free, too!
Codename Gordon (Half-Life flash game)
This Half-Life 2d flash game is hidden within steam can be accessed by using the instructions here to open steam and download the game. And yes, it's DRM free!
Coffee Talk
Available DRM-Free at GOG.
Costume Quest 2
DRM-Free on epic game store.
Croc: Legend of the Gobbos
Physical disc copy is listed as DRM-Free on the pc gaming wiki.
Dead Space
Available DRM Free on GOG.
Dear Esther
The original steam version of Dear Esther is DRM Free, but apparently no longer available for purchase there. (this is why physical media is better...) You can get the Landmark Edition of the game DRM Free on GOG.
Descent Trilogy
All three of these games can be found DRM-Free at GOG. https://www.gog.com/en/game/descent https://www.gog.com/en/game/descent_2 https://www.gog.com/en/game/descent_3_expansion
Physical copies also exist. I cannot vouch for Descent 3 as I don't have a disc copy, but the disc versions of 1 and 2seem to be DRM Free.
Doom (1993)/Ultimate Doom
DRM Free on steam, GOG and in the physical cd-rom format.
Doom 2
The steam version of Doom 2 should be usable with source ports like zdoom. You can also launch the game from the DOOM II executable inside the game's "re-release" folder.
Doom 3 BFG Edition & Resurrection of Evil
Steam version is DRM-Free. Also includes Doom 1 and 2! Also available on gog.
Doom 64
A modern PC port of the originally Nintendo 64 exclusive Doom game. Available DRM-Free on the Epic game Store.
Dusk
DRM-Free on GOG and Steam.
Escape Goat 1 & 2
DRM-Free on GOG, The Humble Store, and the game's own homepage.
Same goes for the sequel! http://www.escapegoat2.com/ https://www.gog.com/game/escape_goat_2?utm_campaign=adtraction&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_source=adtraction https://www.humblebundle.com/store/escape-goat-2?partner=pcgw
Eversion
DRM-Free on the humble bundle store.
Fallout 1 & 2
DRM-Free on the Epic Game Store. https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/fallout?epic_affiliate=pcgamingwiki https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/fallout-2?epic_affiliate=pcgamingwiki
Fallout Tactics
DRM-Free on the Epic Game Store.
Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition
This game is available DRM-Free on GOG.
Fallout New Vegas
DRM-Free on Epic Game Store when make a command line argument of "-EpicPortal" . Instructions on how to do this can be read here. Also available on GOG.
Flatout
According to the PC Gaming wiki, it is DRM Free on both the Epic Game Store and GOG.
Flatout 2
According to the PC Gaming wiki, it is DRM Free on The Epic Game Store, GOG and also from the publisher's own home page!
Final Doom
DRM-Free on steam (it's bundled with Doom II), but will need dosbox (which is included) or a source port to run on modern Windows.
Gex
This game can be found DRM-Free at GOG.
Grim Fandango Remastered
Available DRM Free at GOG, Itch io and even steam!
Half-Life 1 & 2, (Most) Expansions, Episodes
I was pleasantly surprised to find that these wonderful games are actually DRM Free on steam! Glad to see sometimes Valve isn't being a dick. https://store.steampowered.com/app/70/HalfLife/ https://store.steampowered.com/app/220/HalfLife_2/ Episode 1, Episode 2, Lost Coast, and Half-Life Source can also be made DRM-Free by making command line shortcuts. Look for instructions here on the PC Gaming Wiki for each game respectively. Feel free to message if you need help with these.
Half-Life Opposing Force
Only the retail disc version is DRM Free with later updates. Disc is still needed for the music.
Heretic & Hexen
DRM-Free on GOG.
Hotline Miami Games
Available on The Humble Store DRM-Free.
https://www.humblebundle.com/store/hotline-miami
https://www.humblebundle.com/store/hotline-miami-2-wrong-number
Huntdown
Available DRM-Free on the Epic Game Store (now if only those wankers would bring back the Unreal games)
Killing Floor
Killing Floor on steam is somewhat DRM-Free. You can actually run the game without steam for solo play, but you won't be able to change your character model or access your perks. Mods may provide workarounds, such as ones that introduce custom perk classes. I recommend getting a used physical copy or waiting for a humble bundle as I don't recommend giving tripwire money.
Knock-Knock
DRM Free on The Humble Store and GOG.
Master Levels for Doom II
DRM-Free on steam (it's bundled with Doom II), but will need dosbox (which is included) or a source port to run on modern Windows.
Monster Boy and The Cursed Kingdom
DRM-Free on GOG:
NaissanceE
The steam version of this game can be played DRM-Free by going within the "exe" folder and opening the UDK.exe file.
Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty
DRM-Free on GOG and Epic Game Store.
Oddworld: Soulstorm
DRM-Free on Epic game store and GOG.
Overload
DRM-Free on GOG and The Humble Store.
Penumbra Trilogy
Available DRM-Free as physical disc copies, and digitally on GOG.
Portal
Portal on steam can be made DRM-Free by following the instructions here. The wiki shows you how to add the command line here.
Project Zomboid
Available DRM Free on GOG.
Rayman Forever
Available DRM Free on GOG
Red Faction 1 & 2
Both games are available DRM-Free on GOG. https://www.gog.com/en/game/red_faction https://www.gog.com/en/game/red_faction_2
Re-Loaded (PC Port Version)
This one can be a little confusing, as Steam has two versions of this game with the same title. According to the PC Gaming Wiki, the 10 dollar version of the game that has compatibility with Mac and Linux is the one that is a DRM Free PC port.
Quake
The steam version of Quake can be played DRM-Free using the executable "glquake" inside the game's main directory. This version of the game uses an interface more akin to the original, you won't get all the modern bethesda stuff that shows up when you launch the game through steam, so sadly this one is only partially DRM free.
Thankfully the modern version of the game is also available on GOG.
Quake 2
DRM Free on GOG.
Quake 3
DRM Free on GOG.
SCP 087
This short horror title is available DRM Free here
SCP Containment Breach
Available DRM Free here
SEGA Genesis Classics
DRM Free on Steam when you use the SEGAGenesisClassics.exe launcher. As a bonus, you can also find lots more games to add to it on the steam workshop (I haven't yet checked how to carry them over to a DRM Free installation but hopefully it isn't too complicated)!
Shadow Warrior Classic Redux
This title is available DRM Free on gog. You can also get the original DOS version for free here!
Slayaway Camp
DRM-Free on steam.
Sonic Adventure DX Director's Cut
The steam version can be made DRM Free by following the instructions here.
Sonic CD (1995) / Sonic & Knuckles
The Sonic & Knuckles Collection is a physical collection from the 90s that contains both a modified version of Sonic & Knuckles and a PC port of Sonic CD. According to the PC Gaming wiki, the only form of DRM should be a disc check, which won't require internet. The newer steam version, (which was delisted in a slimey move by Sega to bully people into buying the newer Sonic Origins) is no longer available for purchase, but if you already have a copy, The PC Gaming Wiki has some instructions on ways to remove the DRM.
Thanks for being assholes, SEGA!
Sonic Mania
The PC Gaming Wiki has instructions on how to remove the DRM from the steam version.
Sonic Nebulous
A DRM free Sonic fan game. Can be downloaded here on mod db.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series
The first 3 games in the series are available DRM-Free on GOG here:
https://www.gog.com/en/game/stalker_shadow_of_chernobyl
https://www.gog.com/en/game/stalker_call_of_pripyat https://www.gog.com/en/game/stalker_clear_sky
Starbound
Available DRM Free on gog here:
On The Humble Bundle store, for some reason, only the 4 pack is listed as DRM-Free. :
Super Meat Boy
DRM Free at the Epic Game Store, Steam, and Humble Store.
Terraria
DRM- Free on GOG.
The Binding of Isaac
This one is drm-free on steam.
The 3D Adventures Of Sailor Moon
A very old and obscure pc game that seems to be abandonware. Physical copies can be found online but are very expensive and may take a lot of work to get running on modern hardware. You can get a fixed up version of the game here
To The Moon
DRM-Free on both the Humble Store and GOG.
Turok 2 Seeds Of Evil
The steam version can be made DRM-Free by following these instructions on the PC Gaming Wiki. The game can also be found on GOG.
UnderTale
UnderTale is available DRM-Free on GOG.
Unreal II The Awakening
Thanks to the wankers at epic games, this can't be found on digital store fronts but you can still physical copies on ebay. Digital copies are also available on the internet archive which should be DRM-Free (not tested yet).
Unreal Gold
Physical copies of this game can be found on ebay, and a digital copy can be found here on the internet archive. (not tested yet)
Unreal Tournament Game of the Year Edition
Physical copies can be found on ebay, and a digital copy can be found here on the internet archive.
Unreal Tournament 2004
The game can be purchased as a physical copy on sites like ebay, or you can get a digital copy here on the internet archive. The physical copies require a cd key during installation, but should run just fine off of your hard drive afterwards.
Unreal Tournament 3
If you were able to get a steam copy before it was de-listed, the game is DRM Free after you get it all set up and enter your CD key. Otherwise, it's also available on the internet archive here. (I haven't tested this version yet)
When The Past Was Around
This title is available DRM-Free on GOG. There's also a DRM Free demo on itch.io.
Wolfenstein 3D & Spear of Destiny
Available DRM Free on GOG.

CoD Notes: BO1 Finished
I had been worried that Black Ops 1 would unfairly feel like a step backwards for me since I decided to do MW1/2/3 back to back and MW3 came out a year later. This was not the case. Black Ops feels like such a revelation to the franchise. The story isn’t high art, but it feels so much more involved than anything else in the franchise up to this point. The voice cast is far more stacked than ever before. Alex Mason as a protagonist is far more interesting than any previous protagonist. I think his largest competition is Soap, who only gets to be more than silent player avatar in MW2/3 and even then isn’t as interesting as Mason.
I mean, this one game has so many more memorable characters than any other Call of Duty. Ed Harris’s Hudson, Ice Cube’s Bowman, Gary Oldman’s Reznov, Woods all stand out but even Weaver, Dragovich, Steiner, that one scientist guy in Kowloon, are all so much more vivid than the tryhard wannabe NPC’s of something like Ghosts (oops, I beat many games in a row without taking notes).
The plot twist alone elevates this game from “stupid annual release” to video game hall of fame. I’d argue that video games are the best medium for plot twists. It’s no Bioshock, but the Reznov twist is so fun and so well executed. I remember it blowing my mind as a kid and it was a ton of fun to see all the little hints as I went through this time. But I’ve already talked about the game at large twice. Let’s get into the last few missions.
Crashed plane assault mission was fine. I noticed the radio shout out a “Sergeant Blundell” which I recognized as Jason Blundell, the main Black Ops guy, this time. Also very funny and on the nose to have a section set to Sympathy for the Devil.
Snowy mountain assault was just okay. The top-down tactical part was clearly a stepping stone to the Strike Team missions of Black Ops 2. Didn’t love that section. But it was kind of funny to get to play as Hudson. This series seems to have some sort of quota to meet on having multiple playable characters. I did struggle really hard on one checkpoint in this level.
Then is the Vietnam mission where you get to fly a helicopter. I remember liking that part as a kid and it’s fine now. I’ll admit that these ‘Nam levels blend together for me.
But then we’ve got the Rebirth Island assault where you sneak around as Mason and do a gas-mask armored strike as Hudson. It’s pretty cool to get to see the same moment from two perspectives, a rare good use for having multiple playable characters. I will admit that Hudson’s breakable gas mask ended my life many times though.
Then the big plot twist as a cutscene mission, which is very fun.
Then finally the big boat assault and underwater base. Nothing too special gameplay wise, but generally a nice capper on the game.
And I love the implication that Mason killed JFK. I mean, it’s a very strong implication, but I suppose they never outright confirm it was him who pulled the trigger. I half expected the final scene of zooming in on Mason photoshopped into the background of a JFK pic to turn into a “JFK assassination simulator” for a second, but instead it transitions directly into the opening cutscene for Five, which is such a treat.
I did manage to get to round, like, 9, I wanna say, on Five. Sadly died right I before I could PaP because I forgot how the weapon thief mechanic worked and ended up double buying a gun. The voice lines in this map are even funnier to me as an adult who has more context on this era.
Overall, I think this game is peak CoD as far as campaigns go. First, set out to tell a story that would work even outside of this series, then drench it in a particular era and add a bunch of fun weapons and setpieces.
In the rankings so far, I think this is going at the top.

This is unedited, raw, and not finished. This was meant to be part one of my Bioshock Rebirth AU. Now here’s what I was working on before I gave up. The rest I say was already written here. This draft first started on August 9th, 2022.
This was meant to be after this part. But I deleted it out of there. https://at.tumblr.com/geekgemsspooksandtoons/a-man-or-a-slave/40jam38k1415

“You” Archie said in an angry tone. He started walking towards Brigid.
“Archie?” Brigid says, sounding frightened.
“Was this your plan? Is that why you lied to me? Is that why you betrayed Fontaine?” Archie said as he sped walked towards her. “You gave me all those memories so I can be little puppet?!” he started yelling at her.
“Please Archie, let me explain” Brigid pleaded to him as she backed away before Archie grabbed her shoulders.
“You knew who I was when I got here! You made up my childhood! You made up my mom! You talk about atoning for your sins, yet YOU DO ALL OF THAT TO ME!” Archie raised his voice as he started shaking her.
“PLEASE LET ME EXPLAI” Brigid pleaded again before being interrupted.
“YOU DESTROYED MY LIFE! YOU NEVER VALUED MY LIFE! YOU WERE NVER BETTER THAN RYAN OR FONTAINE YOU FUCKING WITCH!” Archie yelled at the top of his lungs, screaming at her face as she soon started to tear up at what was happening.
“ARCHIE STOP!” Elizabeth pleaded as she tried to take him off of Brigid. Unknown to the three of them, someone familiar was walking towards them at a fast rate.
“Hey” Atlas said as he quickly walked towards them, with the three turning their faces quickly towards him. “Nice work boyo” he said before punching Archie in the forehead with enough force, that it makes him lose his grip of Brigid, and drop to the ground. Leaving his head dizzy after the punch, and in pain. Not noticing Atlas pushed the women aside.
“ARCHIE!” Elizabeth screamed as Atlas started kicking him Archie in the chest. Before trying to lunge onto Atlas, she was held back by a Rapture Trooper. She started struggling but couldn’t move as the trooper held her arms for dear life. Brigid was on the ground, still shocked by what happened earlier, but soon witnessed Archie being beaten by Atlas. She tried to get her gun, but like Elizabeth, she was quickly grabbed by another trooper, holding her arms.
“Let me go you pig!” - Brigid.
The two women bared witnessed to the beating Archie was enduring.
“You’re a regular hero ain’tcha?!” Atlas yelled as he kicked Archie in the face. “You disrespectful piece of shit!” he leaned closer to punch him as Archie tried to defend himself, but the hits to the head made him feel dizzy and unfocused. “Didn’t your mum ever teach you not to put your faith in strange foreign folks?! Oh right! YOUR MUM WAS FAKE!” he kept beating him until he started to lose consciousness. “YOU’RE BUSTO YOU PIECE OF HUMAN WASTE!”
“STOP IT! WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?!” Elizabeth screamed at Atlas as she began to tear up. The beating stopped as Archie wasn’t moving much.
“I’m just giving the lad what he needs. He needed a proper beating, and one other thing” Atlas told her as he looked at her. Before checking Archie’s pockets and finding the genetic key that he had taken from Ryan. But before getting up, Archie grabs Atlas’s right wrist with his left hand, getting his attention. He pulls his wrist away from Archie’s hand, as Atlas spits at his face in disgust. Before finally getting up.
“Do what you want with him. But make sure he stays dead after that” Atlas says before leaving Archie’s nearly unconsciousness body. But he stops to say something.
“Oh, Arch. One last thing...even though I couldn’t make you bark like a cocker spaniel...thanks for still being my Ace in the Hole...it means a lot” Atlas says with a smile as he leaves. While they are taken away, Brigid was insulting their captors, while Elizabeth screamed towards Archie. Making sure if he could still hear her. They were soon out of sight. Until two troopers just stood above him.
“So, how do you think we kill him?” the trooper on the left asked his friend.
“How about we dump him in one the pools? Let him drown...underwater. Pretty sick right?” the trooper on the right held in a little chuckle after that.
“Oh, that’s good. That’s ironic” the other trooper told him before they both picked him up.

On Sessler
I don't get the guy.
So G4's rebirth failed spectacularly, as you all know. It wasn't needed, it worked off of an outdated format and I, a lifelong Progressive, will freely admit that they pulled the most basic-ass, predictable cards in the deck. Frosk's rant wasn't wrong in its context, but it felt like the last twenty years' worth of discourse hadn't happened and Olivia Munn was still clutching a mic in front of a camera.
Welp, Sess went on another Twitter meltdown and more or less expectorated on what he feels is an audience that's betrayed him. He wants to come across as the martyrized high-brow analyst of the art form that's beset with thuggish rubes from the trenches of the Doritos-and-Mountain-Dew Corps, but it just doesn't click.
Seeing him screech online, I was reminded of all the frustrated wannabe Postgrad alumni I've worked with whose features constricted at the slightest provocation, and who'd then find supposedly advanced, but actually entirely sophomoric ways of landing put-downs. You know the type: they take Dark Academia far too seriously, wonder why they're the only ones with expensive Moleskine notebooks and attend Pop Culture Studies lectures at the Postgrad level because they're a requirement of the Master's Degree program. They really rather we went anal over the latest hot-button counter-cultural theorist when the name of the class more or less translates as "Get out your Potter books and your Weyland-Yutani-issued pulse rifles, 'cause shit's gonna get nerdy."
Picture one of these guys going from disinterest to blatant disgust over a little over six weeks, because some girl who's still stuck on Anamanaguchi decided to use The Walking Dead as a vector for her long years of literary observation. Picture them having the nerve to stand up and start a diatribe in the middle of the one class on campus where the closest other guy to the type of student they are's actually overdosed on Alighieri because he played the EA-published video game on PS3.
That's basically Adam Sessler, as of recently. Frothing at the mouth, jabbering away at all the CoD-bros he's never hung out with, likely reliving the halcyon days of his likening BioShock Infinite to Samuel Beckett's output.
I don't get that.
Yes, there's cultureless hacks in the medium. Yes, some people look like their K/D ratio eventually came to become the one dominant facet of their personality. Yes, there's former potentates of twitch reflexes and vaunted quickscoping heroes who haven't caught on to the fact that aging slows you down. The sick shots you landed in your teens get insanely hard to put out in your twenties, unless you relentlessly train for it. Yes, these people tend to mask a sense of inadequacy with toxicity.
The thing is, they don't matter. I game in Single Player, or on closed servers my friends and I administrate. We catastrophically fail and simultaneously laugh it up, then pick ourselves back up and go back to fragging. Whenever shooters get involved, pot usually enters the picture. Try quickscoping when half of your brain is busy coming up with a constant parade of brain farts.
I also don't let my past define my hobbies. I don't need to analyze everything I like. Not everything needs to have narrative value. There's days where all I fucking want is to skip the tutorial and campaign cinematics and build the worst Goldfinger lair ever in Evil Genius 2. There's days where all I want is One Finger Death Punch on Survival mode.
There's days where all I want is Mortal Kombat. As in, the shitty one on SNES. I am under no obligation to be high-brow.
It would help if some journalists remembered that.
Oh - and yes. I do still call myself a gamer. The label fits, as I don't simply pick up a controller when I'm at someone-or-other's house. That's it. It's the same reason why someone who's serious about Lego builds could consider themselves a model maker, or why the term maker came to define anyone who has a valid excuse to go for Prusa's top-shelf extruder, if not two or three more 3D printers.

So I wanted to draw @geekgemsspooksandtoons oc Archie from their Bioshock Rebirth story.
Hope I drew him well, also looked at some of @fishtankinhouse drawings of Archie to help me as they are really talented in drawing Archie!

One thing I hate about this site is that almost every time I find a video game I really, really love and search for it here, turns out that most people seem to hate it for some reason? It’s demoralizing to be quite honest; surely my taste isn’t that bad???

Ok! So this is so posed to be a more I guess if you will ... a broken down subject delta but with flowers growing on top of him. It’s more of a beaten down subject delta. I always love photos with old buildings that are broken but still have flowers growing around them! Like it’s saying I’m still hear in a weak voice! So I named this version of subject delta rebirth.🤗 I was heavily inspired by @the-blueish-trashcan on their piece with jack covered in flowers!
