Long-Tailed Tit (Aegithalos caudatus)
Despite their name, Long-Tailed Tits aren't actually true Tit birds, rather belonging to a similar genus Aegithalos, the Bushtits. Their nest are elaborately constructed with spider's webs, lichen, feathers, and moss, with over 6000 pieces used for a typical nest. In cold weather, they tend to huddle together for warmth.

At a park, I found a Canada Goose that was sitting on her nest. A couple of times she stood up and I was able to see her clutch of Goose eggs that she had recently laid.

Hoooo boy. It's finally finished. This only took me eight months to paint. T.T
Disco Elysium is soooo good y'all; I feel like I'll never give it the credit it deserves.
I'm not even sure it's finished, but I'm just going to set this down now, though.
Clip studio paint and a ton of downloaded watercolor and acrylic brushes.
Let me know if you want me to pull out any closeups or anything

Gouache painting of long-tailed tits for the upcoming book about my local nature reserve.
Long-tailed tits make stretchy nests from a base of moss and spider silk. On the outside they’re covered in lichen for camouflage and inside are lined with feathers for cosiness!

BOTD: Common Redstart

Common Redstart (Phoenicurus phoenicurus)
The nests of Common Redstarts are sometimes parasitised by Common Cuckoos, however, this appears to be somewhat beneficial to the chicks. Seeing as they nest in tree cavities, the Cuckoo chick upon hatching is unable to push the Redstart eggs out, resulting in a mixed brood. The large size of the Cuckoo affects thermoregulation in the nest, keeping the Redstart chicks warm - effectively 'brooding' them.
