I’m back from San Diego Comic Con! Don’t mind me just being silly.

I got quite a lot of merch this year!

Though I will admit one of the things that made me happiest was getting some beautiful gifts from @miniyunart in the mail when I returned! I was ecstatic since all the merch at Con was mostly Tottmnt related! I highly recommend checking out her amazing store!!

Honorable mention since it didn't fit on the poll list: Jérôme K. Jérôme Bloche, which I chose to exclude since there are literally only 5 albums in English and I had to cut one of them

What’s BD? - BD = Bande Dessinée = comics (in the French language). Generally (in English anyway) comics are referred to by their language of origin (ie “manga” for Japanese comics). This is because of shared tropes, references, cultural material, art styles, etc. This does NOT mean that they’re all from France! Just that they’re all written in French!

Asterix and Blueberry are from France; Lucky Luke, Tintin, Spirou & Fantasio, Gaston, the Smurfs, and JKJ Bloche are all Belgian; Yakari is Swiss; and Blacksad is made by Spanish creators but written in French for a French audience and published in France

One word: the BlackSad series

All the male characters are humanoid animals but almost all the ladies (except for the "uglies") seems just woman with animal makeup (some times just the nose)

And I do love the series

But I can help but being bothered by this fact

stuff like this always makes me think of the crazy sexual dimorphism of world of warcraft lol I always think the mens designs have so much more character

I've seen a lot of people criticize Blacksad saying "all the women are just humans with animal ears while the men are animals" but I don't personally agree with the statement. Most of the women Blacksad is interested in fit that description, but there are many women that don't fit it.

Even in the first album, here are two women. One Blacksad is interested in, and one he's not:

Also as a separate note I don't think Blacksad is particularly animalistic compared to his sister who I've seen get the complaint about not being animalistic enough. Here they are next to each other:

So I ask you all, help me by making your own judgement. Below the cut are all the other women in the series (mostly chronological order and not including any from background crowd scenes), how many fit the "just a human with animal ears" description and how many are animalistic. Maybe I just have a different standard for what makes something animalistic vs human.

I recently decided to give Beastars a shot and bought the first volume the other day. Ever since I bought it, though, my brother’s been poking fun and has been jokingly calling it my “furry porn”.
