A Web of Wood

“This place is crazy," said Gorzan as the group walked down a shadowy jungle path. "I've never seen plants like this before."
"Well, it gives me the creeps," said Worriz. "In case you didn't notice, we're boxed in on every side. We couldn't get off this road if we wanted to."
Worriz was right. Thick tangles of vines surrounded the warriors with broad leaves and dozens of long, sharp thorns on each strand.
The only one who seemed to be enjoying this part of the journey was Rogon's Rhinoceros Legend Beast. He happily trudged along, sniffing leaves as they went.
The friends had saved the Rhinoceros Legend Beast from the Outland Tribes a few days before. Now, the Beast was joining them on their journey. As the heroes continued through the jungle, the great Rhino discovered that the green leaves on the vines tasted really good. So he kept lagging behind to munch on them.
Suddenly, Eris swooped down from above. She had been scouting the path ahead for danger. "Oh, Laval, we've got trouble!" she called.
"What now?" groaned Cragger. "Bats? Scorpions? Pits of flame? Toxic mud creatures forty feet high?"
"I think you have to see it to believe it," said Eris. "Go around the bend. You can't miss it."
Laval and the group did as she said. When they rounded the corner, they stopped and stared. A few of them rubbed their eyes to make sure they weren't seeing things.
Looming in front of them was an enormous Spider Web unlike anything they had ever seen. It was as wide as the jungle path and rose at least sixty feet into the air. But it wasn't made out of Spider silk-it was made out of wood!
The Spiders had meticulously constructed the towering web out of thick tree trunks, locking them together to form an impassable blockade.

"It's a barrier," said Laval, "and I'm not sure how we can get through it."
"Why go through when we can go over?" asked Razar.
"He's right," said Eris. "Razar and I can fly above it. Maybe together we can carry the rest of you, one by one." Laval took a few steps back and peered up at the web.
Yes, it wasn't so high that the Eagle and Raven couldn't make it over. The top part did look kind of strange, though.
In the upper sections of the web, there were rows and rows of smaller tree limbs with sharpened ends. All of them were lined up so that their points faced the sky.
"What do you think, Worriz?" asked Laval.
The Wolf frowned. He didn't know much about Spiders or their webs, but he did know a lot about traps. This thing gave him a bad feeling.
"I think it can't be that easy," Worriz replied. "But if those two want to try it, let 'em. I don't have any better ideas."
Laval looked at Eris and nodded once. She immediately shot up into the sky, soaring toward the top of the web.
Just as she started to pass over it, one of the sharpened tree limbs shot out at her! Eris screeched in surprise and just barely managed to dodge it.
A second one grazed her wing and almost knocked her out of the sky. Shaken, she flew back to the ground.

"Wow," Eris said, shaking her head. "That thing is dangerous!"
Bladvic the Bear opened his sleepy eyes. "Knock it down," he said through a yawn.
"Right, and how do we do that without bringing it down on our heads?" asked Laval.
But the Bear had fallen back to sleep again. Laval didn't bother to wake him. The answer was obvious:
There was no way to bring the web down without risking everyone being crushed. Even trying to carefully take it apart would be risky-one wrong move and the whole thing could crash to the ground.
"Maybe we could dig a tunnel and go underneath it?" suggested Eris.
"It would have to be an awfully huge tunnel," said Cragger. "Rogon's Legend Beast isn't exactly slim... and with the way he's eating those leaves, he's just going to get bigger."
"How about climbing it?" asked Gorzan. "I could go first, since I'm the best climber. Might be a groovy experience."
"Or your last," said Worriz. "What we need is someone who knows all about Spiders and their webs."
"Ha! The thing is simplicity itself!"
Everybody turned around at once. The words had come from Rogon. His whole expression had changed from dull and friendly to confident and brilliant. His eyes gleamed and his mouth curled into a knowing smile.
"Oh, here we go again," sighed Worriz.
Ever since they had freed Rogon's Legend Beast, something odd had been happening. Whenever the Legend Beast got close to Rogon, the young Rhino suddenly went from not too bright to incredibly smart.
But if the Legend Beast wandered away, Rogon would go back to his old self.
"Hey, if he has an idea, I want to hear it," said Laval,
"An idea?" said Rogon. "Why, it's so easy a calf could figure it out."
"Great," said Worriz. "Let's find a calf and ask him, then."

"No, let's give him a chance," said Laval. "Rogon, do you know a way to take the web apart?"
"Naturally," said Rogon. "You can take it apart quite easily... from the other side."
"Well, that's a lot of help," grumbled Worriz. "Got any more good news?"
Rogon chuckled. "Oh, my Wolfish friend, how amusing.
The answer to our problem is obvious to anyone who understands Spider methods of construction. It's all about safe strands, you see."
"Safe strands?" asked Cragger. "What are those?"
Rogon looked over his shoulder, then back at the Crocodile. "Um, I don't know. Is this a test? I didn't know we were having a test today."
"The Legend Beast wandered away again," growled Laval. "Somebody go get him back."
"I'll go," said Worriz.
The Wolf ran off. Most of the leaves near where the team was standing had been eaten, so Worriz guessed the Legend Beast had gone back down the path looking for any he had missed. Sure enough, that was where he found the great creature. It only took a little gentle persuasion to get him heading in the right direction.

Once the Legend Beast was back with the group, Rogon's manner abruptly changed.
"Now, where was I? Oh, yes, safe strands ... When a Spider builds a web, he can't very well make it so that he himself will get stuck when walking on it, right?"
"That makes sense," agreed Laval.
"So, some strands are not sticky," explained Rogon. "They are safe for the Spider to walk on."
"Hey, I see it now," said Gorzan. "There must be some pieces of that web that are safe for us to climb on. Those are the ones the Spiders used when they were building it. If we can figure out which ones they are, we can make it through."
"What about the Legend Beast?" asked Eris. "He can't climb."
"Never fear, my avian ally," said Rogon. "I have ideas about that, too. But first..."
Rogon stood very still and stared at the web for a few minutes. Then he nodded. "Yes. Oh, how interesting, a fine piece of work indeed. There is a precise mathematical pattern to the placement of the pieces. Using that knowledge, I can safely chart our course through the web. Follow me!"
One by one, the travelers started to climb up the giant wooden structure. Rogon patiently led them, moving carefully from tree trunk to tree trunk. Everyone had been warned to do exactly what he did.
“A single misstep," Rogon reminded them, "and we will end up at the bottom of a very large woodpile."
They had made it about halfway through the web when Rogon stopped. "Hmmmm," he said.
"Hmmmm, what?" asked Laval. "Is that a good hmmmm or a bad hmmmm?"
"The pattern has been altered," said Rogon. "They changed something ... let me see ... oh, yes, I see it now, it's ... it's.."
"What?" Laval asked loudly.
"Wow, it's cool up here," Rogon answered. "But how do we get down?"

Laval slapped a hand to his forehead. Cragger would have beaten his head against one of the tree trunks if he knew which ones were safe. Instead, Laval said, "Worriz. Legend Beast. Now."
Grumbling, the Wolf retraced his path and went to find the Legend Beast. Meanwhile, the wait had made Bladvic doze off again. His head started to droop, and he slumped against one of the pieces of the web. Eris spotted what was happening and lunged at him, struggling to lift his head off the tree trunk.
"He hit the wrong piece!" she shouted as the others nearby helped her prop up the Bear.
But it was too late. The web was already starting to teeter. High above, pieces were rocking with enough force to disconnect from one another.
"Let's go!" said Cragger. "What difference does it make how we get over now as long as we make it over?"
"Wait, there's still a chance, if Worriz brings back the Legend Beast," said Laval. "Hang on!"
They could see Worriz in the distance. But the huge Rhino behind him kept stopping to snack on the few leaves he could spot. Worriz looked back in frustration.
Too bad that web doesn't have leaves, the Wolf thought. Hey, wait a minute...
Moving as fast as he could, Worriz raced back and forth down the trail, gathering as many leaves as he could.
Once he had a large armful, he ran back toward the web.

The Legend Beast picked up the scent of his new favorite food and followed.
By the time Worriz reached the web the Legend Beast was close enough for Rogon to become smart again.
"Drop the leaves and get up here," Razar yelled.
"He'll eat them all in a couple of seconds and wander off again," Worriz replied. "We need to keep him close to Rogon."
Arms full of leaves, Worriz somehow managed to climb back up to where he had been. Fortunately, being a Wolf, his nose was sensitive enough to follow the scent of his companions across the right pieces of the web.
"See? It's working!" said Worriz. "He's not wandering away!"
"Indeed," said Rogon. "But it is perhaps too successful of a plan. Look!"
Worriz glanced down. The hungry Legend Beast really wanted the leaves Worriz was carrying and was trying to climb the web himself!
"Go! Go! Go!" Laval yelled at Rogon.
Rogon climbed as fast as he could, his amazing brain able to spot every change in the pattern that the Spiders had built into the web. The others raced along behind him, being careful to step where he stepped even as the web shook all around them.

"Success!" yelled Rogon as he made it safely over to the other side of the web. He climbed down about halfway and then jumped toward the ground, rolling for a long way before coming to a stop. Laval and the rest followed after him, but there was no time to celebrate.
The web was still in danger of collapsing on the Legend Beast.
"Rogon," said Laval, "we need to take this thing down! Can you do it?"
The Rhino nodded and said, "Yes, I see the key. There had to be a way the Spiders could dismantle this, and what they can do, we can do! But we'd better do it fast."
"I know!" cried Laval as one of the tree limbs tumbled off the web, crashing beside him. "Tell us what to do!"
Rogon explained, "Our resident masters of aviation must help us disassemble the ingenious contraption from an elevated level while we un-winged companions assist from our terrestrial positions."
The others looked at him in complete confusion.
"What?!" they cried together.
Rogon smiled. "The spikes at the top only point the other way. They are no longer a threat to our winged allies. Eris and Razar must fly up and drop us the logs one by one."
Quickly, the Eagle and Raven shot up into the sky. But on the other side, the Rhino Legend Beast was becoming very frustrated that he couldn't get to the leaves Worriz was holding. He started to grunt and snort, nudging at the web with his giant horn. The entire web teetered.
"He's going to collapse itl" cried Laval.
Razar called down to Worriz. "My friend, you must keep the Beast distracted while we do our part, or we are all doomed."
"He's right!" exclaimed Eris. "Worriz, run back and forth so the Legend Beast chases after you instead of trying to break through the web. That will give us time to take it apart."
"You want me to do what?" exclaimed Worriz. "Uggh. Fine. But just watch where you're dropping those logs. Remember, I'm the only thing keeping that Beast from bringing down the whole web on top of us all."
Grumbling loudly, Worriz began running back and forth on his side of the web. He held out the leaves in plain sight for the Legend Beast to see.
The plan worked. The Legend Beast chased after him to the right edge of the web ... then to the left... then back again. The ground trembled with its thundering footsteps. But at least it wasn't trying to collapse the web.
Swiftly, Razar and Eris dismantled the tottering contraption piece by piece from the top. Each time they pulled off a new log they would drop it down to their friends below. They followed Rogon's instructions exactly on which pieces to pull out next.
Soon, the heroes were surrounded by piles and piles of wood. But there was no more web.
The Legend Beast happily lumbered over the dismantled branches and began munching on the leaves Worriz was holding.
"That was a close one." Laval breathed a sigh of relief. "Thanks, Rogon. Without you, we would have been goners."

"Hey, what about me?" complained Worriz. "I was the one who got that Legend Beast close enough to keep Rogon smart, and I'm the one who distracted it while you took that giant web apart. Where's my thanks?"
Just then, the Legend Beast sniffed Worriz. The tasty scent of leaves still lingered on the Wolf's fur. The Legend Beast gave Worriz a great big lick.
"It seems you have your thanks, my friend," said Razar.
"Yeah." Laval chuckled. "As long as you smell like those leaves, that Legend Beast won't be wandering away from us anymore."
Worriz groaned as the Legend Beast licked him again. "Some thanks."
Everyone laughed.

Scorm travels to the Bear Cave to seek an answer to a month-long question he's had, and Bladvic is more than happy to answer.
Once again, the Bears being the Psychopomp Guardians of Hell and Dreams wasn't something I expected to create, but unfortunately the ramifications of my previous scenes has hit me in full!

Raised like a Phoenix- Chapter 6: Before we go
“So what now?” Vardy asked Sir Fangar as he paced around the table. Maula, Icebite, and Stealthor eagerly awaited his answer, as they all sat in what the lions had dubbed the map room. When Sir Fangar conquered the Temple as his own he had a few modifications to it, so they could map out where all the Hunters had settled and get rid of any trace of those pitiful tribes.
Removing the eyestain that was Mount. Cavora and replacing it with tiles replicating his saber tooth gate had brought him sadistic glee.
“Well… it's obvious that he has returned.” The Saber-tooth spat out.
“And how can we be so sure?” Stealthor said.
“Have you gone deaf? Of course he's come back to life! Did you not hear that roar?! No doubt that they will surely do the same for the others!”
“But each one of them is hidden away, to the point where we don’t even know where. How will they find them?” Maula mentioned.
Sir Fangar scoffed. “Perhaps it was not pure coincidence that the lion's body was discovered here. Surely it simply knew where its so-called home was and stayed put. If this is true for that lion then it should be true for the others.”
He slammed his fist down on the table, making the others jump.
“When they return to OUR territory, we will be ready! When they try to revive their final hope, we will shoot it down just as before!”
Icebite grinned sadistically, mumbling, “Hurt… shoot… kill… hurt…”
Vardy scooted his seat away from the terrifying bear.
“We shall make them feel our freeze! And they will feel it FOREVER!” The others cheered and Fangar shouted his signature war cry.
“So, here's the plan…”
-
Before they left for the swamp to find the first of the Firewings, before they left to find the others, before they went out on another adventure, Laval wanted to see his grave.
Li’Ella and Flinx guided him to the middle of town where the eight headstones dedicated to him and his friends were, offerings still placed around the area. Petals danced in the wind as the flower places began to wilt. The smell of freshly baked treats beginning to go sour. Candle wax was now leaking at the base, upon the concrete.
Laval walked up to his tombstone and read it out loud:
Time and time again, evil he foiled
Here we dedicate this rest to,
Laval the Loyal
So, unlike the plaque Sir Bucky had put up for him outside the temple. He turned to the other ones, reading each one out loud.
Never useless, though he may seem reckless
Howls in the heavens
Worriz the Ruthless
His kindness, his sweetness
Was infectious
Now rests
Gorzan the Generous
Rogon the Eager
Now breaks rocks among the stars
May they fire like comets and go far
Awoken from a peaceful dream
He returns to another
Now sleeps eternal
Bladvic the Dreamer
Trinkets and treasure
Would never rust
Just like his legacy
Razar the Opportunist
A future she knew, brought forth the bold
With fire she flew
Now her story shall forever be told,
Eris the Oracle.
Family lost and found
He rests now with friends
Amongst the clouds
Cragger the Determined.
When he finished, he stood up and turned towards Li’Ella and Flinx with a skeptical face. The two looked at each other with worry, then at their revived friend.
Li’Ella wasn’t sure what reaction to expect from Laval. Perhaps sadness at seeing how each and every one of them was seen. Feeling the weight of expectations crushing him all over again. Maybe he’d want to put an offering for the others just in case…
No!
Don’t think about it!
They’ll be fine. They will all be fine!
“This suck.”
Li’Ella blinked as she was snapped out of her train of thought.
“Wha?” Flinx said, with a slight chuckle in his voice.
Laval began to laugh. “Yeah, I don’t know. What's with all the titles and stuff? It’s so serious. Ha, ha! I mean, “Laval the Loyal.” Ooooh. Better take him seriously. Ha, ha, ha!” His laughter was contagious as the lioness and the young phoenix broke out laughing as well.
It was a little ridiculous, but at least the thought-to-be long gone lion could get a chuckle out of it. When the laughter died down, Laval gave them a smile as bright as the sun. He turned towards Li’Ella.
“Now let's go save our friends!”

Oh boy here i go again
BEARS!
So their whole thing in the show is that they sleep all of the time which is a very stupid idea
Like how are they still even existing with them sleeping that much they'd end up like the pandas who are endangered cause they're too lazy to make babies
So i decided to give them something new to be their thing
Bears are now the nerds
Yes i know eagles are already the nerds in the og show but in my rewrite birds are more of philosophers while bears are the analytical thinkers
While birds are sitting in their Palaces questioning the meaning of life and where everything originated from bears are getting an education
Bear schools and colleges are giving animals from all around chima the best education out of all of the kingdoms but sadly they are kinda hard to get into
Also it's not much but out of all of chima they have the most advanced technology which i imagine would equal to the type of tech we had in the 90s maybe

I know i said bears aren't the naptime tribe anymore but you know what I'm gonna keep bladvic a sleepy chill dude
Not gonna make it as intense as the og but just know he'd rather sleep than study for bear school/college
While on the topic i really have no idea how old i wanna make the characters maybe I'll decide later
#isn't it weird how chima is shown to not have any technology yet for some reason they have guns and motorcycles#like the inventors in chima had going fast and shooting ppl as their top priority when thinking of what world changing device to make#legends of chima#chima lore rewrite#blue's doodles

Alex Final Wars 2: Dark Alex, Chapter 16 - Attack on Eagle Spire
Hello! I hope everyone is having a good day, and is happy! I've just been hanging out on my summer break. I probably could be doing more, and I should get to doing some other tasks. But let's get on with this chapter, shall we?
000000000000
The second Alex and JayJay saw smoke and fire coming from the home of the Eagle tribe, their mindsets shifted from enjoying a nice day to preparing to enter combat. The report about a resurgence of Chinese presence may have been correct after all, and now they had to deal with the repercussions.
“Let’s go,” Alex said, turning to JayJay, who nodded in agreement. Both warriors were now only driven by their desire to stop the oppression inflicted by the Chinese, and the coming engagement would be another step to their overall goal of winning this war. The pair hopped on their speedorz and raced off towards the spires, while Alex contacted Toothdee.
“Toothdee do you read me?”
“I read you, Alex, are you seeing this?”
“Well, not right now,” Alex said as he and Jay passed under some trees. “But I know what’s going on”
“The typhoon is already in the air and is heading towards the spires. Where are you?”
“JayJay and I are on speedorz, heading for the spires. We’ll get there soon”
“Well you better hurry before the spires are brought down”
000
When Alex and JayJay arrived at the base of the spires, chaos was erupting. The typhoon and eagle jets were doing battle with Chinese airships and aircraft, while infantry and vehicles battled it out on the ground.
“Alex, I’m sending some gear your way!” Toothdee said through the radio.
The typhoon launched out a small drop pod that embedded itself in the ground near Alex and JayJay. The pair raced over and opened the pod, revealing their weapons, armor, and gear. There was even a small bag of Fire chi that Alex grabbed. While the 2 grabbed their weapons, a group of lion tanks and infantry arrived nearby, with Laval driving one of the tanks.
“Alex! JayJay! What are we dealing with here?!” Laval yelled
“A lot of Chinese soldiers, that much I know,” Alex said, donning his armor.
“We must drive them from Chima and save our eagle allies!” An elderly and gray-maned lion driving another tank said.
“Lagravis, good to see you again your majesty,” Alex said, showing respect for Laval’s dad and the king of the lion tribe.
“I’m glad your here to help us. I hope our tanks will be enough to punch through!”
“We have other forces already attacking from different sides, and breaking through! Let’s get in there and find Eris! Oh, and you know, get rid of the Chinese” Laval said, accidentally letting his love for the eagle override his thinking.
“Yes! Let’s get Eris!” Said a voice from a rhino tank, as the vehicle pulled up.
“Rogon?” Alex asked
“That’s me!” The rhino said, “I’m gonna get in there and save my love, Eris!”
“How many times do I have to tell you,” Laval said, facepalming “Eris and I are already a couple”
Rogon wasn’t listing, and instead, he pressed a button in his vehicle, causing the catapult on the back to launch a rock at a few Chinese soldiers. Laval sighed while his father chuckled after hearing his son talk about the one he loved.
Alex and JayJay checked their weapons and prepared to enter the fray. Chinese forces had noticed the approaching enemies and began to fire on the tanks. One tank gunner was hit by a lucky shot and fell off his vehicle. Alex instantly climbed aboard to take control of the tank’s main gun, while yelling orders to his teammates.
“Laval! Lagravis! Let’s punch through those Chinese forces! JayJay! You and the infantry follow us! Stay behind the tanks, use them as cover!”
There were nods of acknowledgment as Alex told the lion tank driver to move forward. Using the rotary chi cannon, Alex gunned down some Chinese soldiers firing at the tank with rifles and rockets, before engaging and destroying a Chinese buggy racing by. Laval fired a volley of chi shots and missiles, decimating the Chinese forces in front of them. All the while JayJay and the infantry stuck behind the tanks, opening fire and dispatching any Chinese soldier that the tanks missed.
2 lightly armored Chinese vehicles opened fire on the tank, but Alex destroyed both with the cannon, and the tank drove over the smoldering wreckage of one of the vehicles. A hostile tank opened fire with its cannon, destroying a small lion vehicle. Laval fired out another volley of missiles, damaging the tank, and Alex finished it off with the chi cannon. The pair cheered with excitement at taking down the vehicle, as the opened fire on more hostile forces.
The tanks easily cut through the Chinese forces, and Rogon displayed excitement whenever he rammed an enemy vehicle with his tank. By the time the friendly tanks reached the main eagle spire, there were many burning armored vehicles in their wake. Alex jumped off the tank and let a lion soldier take control. Laval did the same and joined Alex and JayJay on the ground.
“Let's get in there and save Eris,” Rogon said, raising a fist
“No Rogon” Laval said, “We need you and your tank out here to stop these enemy vehicles”
“But I have to go save Eris!”
“Taking out all these vehicles would really impress Eris,” Alex said “if I were you I would go around trying to take out as many as possible”
Alex’s deception worked, and the rhino raced off in his tank, wanting to crush more Chinese vehicles to impress Eris
“Does he not get that you and Eris are together?” Alex asked
“We’ve told him multiple times that we’re a couple, but he just doesn’t get it,” Laval said, while the team moved towards the eagle spire “I mean, the rhinos may be dumb, but they are also strong, and with them, you definitely have an advantage in battle”
“Even with a rhino helping us, there are a lot of Chinese soldiers out here,” JayJay said, “how are we gonna clear this place?”
“Like I told you....” Laval said as they entered the spire “....we have reinforcements onsite”
Worriz of the wolf tribe, Cragger of the crocodile tribe, and Bladvic of the Bear tribe were standing in a large central room, fighting off Chinese soldiers with their weapons. Worriz hit a Chinese soldier in the head with his weapon, while Bladvic charged another hostile soldier and pummeled him into submission.
“Worriz! Cragger! Bladvic! Thank god your here to help” Alex said, swinging his sword through another enemy soldier.
“I wouldn’t miss this Alex,” Cragger said, cutting another hostile soldier down to size “we won’t let these guys destroy Chima!”
“Bladvic, I thought you’d be asleep,” Alex said, remembering how the bear tribe slept almost all the time.
“I love sleeping, but when Chima‘s in danger, me and the bear tribe will race to help!”
“Glad to hear it”
Worriz looked over JayJay and even sniffed a little bit before saying she was an odd wolf.
“What, you’ve never seen a blue wolf before?” JayJay said
“Are you sure you're a wolf? Wolves don’t look that.... happy and cheerful” Worriz said.
“Ok, enough with what qualifies as a wolf and what doesn’t, we need to stop these Chinese forces,” Alex said “Laval, please tell me there’s an elevator”
“Uh.....” the Lion said, his eyes looking away from Alex.
*Sigh*
000
After climbing up a lot of stairs, the team emerged into an eagle library and gunned down a few Chinese soldiers. More hostile soldiers continued to pour in, forcing the team to either take cover or charge headstrong at them with melee weapons.
Cragger, Bladvic, Worriz, cut down numerous Chinese soldiers with their swords, while Alex and JayJay took cover and shot enemies down from afar.
The number of Chinese soldiers was immense, but with every killing blow or shot, the number of hostiles got smaller and smaller. With the arrival of some eagle warriors, the team managed to clear the Chinese from the room, before heading into the next section of the library. This section had large holes in the outer wall, enabling eagles to fly in and out of the spire, alongside being a stylistic choice to make the library seem more open
“Alex my friend” came Razar’s voice through the radio.
“Razar? How did you get this frequency?”
“That’s a raven tribe secret. But I’m here to let you know that the raven tribe is here to help in securing its customer base”
“I’m sorry?”
“With no eagle tribe, we will have lost a lot of customers my friend, yes?”
“Well, at least your here to help”
Alex looked out an open window to see a raven aircraft passing by.
“If you tell us where to shoot, we will fire right where you ask us to, yes?”
“I could use some air support”
“And this service is....” the raven gulped and struggled with his words. “...Free of charge”
“Ok, just watch out for the books, they contain a lot of knowledge. No missiles, chi blasters only”
“Tell him if we get to the completely ridiculous section he can use missiles,” Laval said “Those books are... well you can probably guess from the section they are in”
A squad of Chinese soldiers approached the team of heroes, who took cover as the hostiles opened fire. Razar’s black raven jet hovered outside, and fired in through the large opening in the wall, taking down the squad of Chinese soldiers.
As the team pushed forward, 2 more squads appeared, and Razar continued to fire upon them. Alex and his allies also returned fire, taking out a few hostile soldiers, but Razar was doing a great job of clearing the path.
Progressing further, the team came to a mounted machine gun turret the Chinese soldiers had set up. The gun was facing down the hallway, but before the hostiles could use it to suppress the team, Razar shot out the operator and the other infantrymen around him.
Heading into the next section, 2 machine gun turrets had been set up, these ones facing the outside, and they began to engage Razar.
“I’m being hit! Yes!?” The raven squawked, worry in his voice as bullets pelted his aircraft.
“Take out those turrets!” Alex yelled, throwing his sword and hitting an enemy soldier aiming a rocket launcher.
JayJay quickly took out the soldier manning the nearest turret, while Laval and Cragger raced forward towards the second turret, clearing out Chinese soldiers as they went.
Laval bent down and Cragger jumped on his back, before Laval jumped up, launching Cragger into the air, enabling him to reach and kill the other turret operator.
Bladvic and Worriz cleaned up the remaining hostile forces, and Alex collected his sword before everyone moved forward towards a nearby tunnel, just as more Chinese soldiers were exiting said tunnel. However because they were so close, these Chinese soldiers were quickly dispatched with melee strikes
“You're heading further into the library my friend, I can’t cover you. And Chinese aircraft are targeting me, so I must fly, yes?”
“Thanks for that air support Razar. Oh, and I’ll make sure word gets out that you were a big help. That should increase your notoriety and send customers flocking to you”
“Oh, thank you my friend, I see that this was a good business deal, yes?”
Coming into another room, Alex deflected incoming shots with his sword, before closing the gap to 2 enemy soldiers and slicing both of them across the chest.
JayJay took cover and took down 2 enemies in the back, while Bladvic and Cragger dealt with 3 soldiers with bulletproof shields.
Worriz was busy fighting a Chinese soldier in melee combat, before the soldier gripped Worriz in a headlock, prompting the wolf to backpedal and send both of them over a balcony inside the spire.
“Worriz!” Everyone yelled, racing over to the balcony and looking down. Luckily the pair had landed on a ledge below, with the Chinese soldier having been killed or knocked out from the fall. But Worriz surviving by landing on top of the soldier.
“I’m ok!” The wolf yelled, gaining a sigh of relief from his allies.
“Thank the legend beasts” Cragger and Laval muttered.
“I’ll join you later!” Worriz said, taking out a pair of clawed gloves and jumping down to another balcony, before disappearing from view as he went to find more Chinese soldiers.
“The main landing pad is this way,” Laval said
The team raced to a doorway that leads to the landing pad, dealing with 2 more Chinese soldiers along the way. Emerging out onto the landing pad, the team saw a gorilla mech bashing Chinese soldiers with its massive fists.
“Gorzan!” Laval yelled as the team raced across the flat tarmac of the landing pad “thank the legend beasts your here!”
The mech turned around, revealing the black furred gorilla in the pilot’s seat.
“Hey dudes!” Gorzan said “these Chinese dudes are a real bummer man! They’re putting all sorts of bad vibes in Chima”
“Wait a minute, how’d you get up here?” JayJay asked
“These mechs were built for climbing dudette”
“Incoming!” Cragger yelled, as 2 Chinese helicopters began to land and dropped off hostile soldiers.
Gorzan used his mech’s chi blaster to destroy one helicopter before it could land, however, the second helicopter managed to deploy its troops, who quickly took cover behind objects on the landing pad.
A cargo helicopter landed a tank on the landing pad, and the vehicle fired its cannon at Gorzan’s mech. The mech stumbled backward, before charging at the Chinese tank.
Cragger, Laval, and Bladvic charged at the Chinese soldiers and began fighting them in melee combat, while Alex and JayJay gunned down the soldiers taking cover behind an Eagle jet.
Once the hostile forces were dealt with, the team looked towards Gorzan to see him pushing the Chinese tank off the landing pad.
But there was still one hostile soldier left that the team didn’t see. The soldier snuck up close behind Bladvic, aiming at his head with a shotgun.
“Bladvic! Watch out!” Alex yelled, spotting the soldier before he and JayJay opened fire, killing the enemy before he could fire. The bear whipped around and saw the fallen Chinese soldier that nearly killed him.
“Thanks for that, I don’t want to go to sleep permanently”
“Don’t mention it,” Alex said
“Where’s Eris?” Laval said, worry in his voice “I thought we would’ve run into her by now, I haven’t been able to get ahold of her with the radio”
“Eris, do you read me?” Alex said into his radio.
Another helicopter landed and offloaded troops, and the team prepared themselves. Suddenly a damaged eagle jet crashed into the landing pad, taking out most of the Chinese soldiers, leaving only 3. The cockpit burst open and Eris jumped out, landing a blow with her ax on a Chinese soldier, before throwing the ax at another soldier, and shooting the last one with her blaster. Eris appeared more geared up than normal, equipped with more armor and weapons.
“Eris, are you ok?” Laval said, running up to her and giving her a quick hug.
“I’m fine, but there are Chinese all over the spire! This is my home!” Eris said, “I won’t let it fall!”
An eagle jet raced by, with a Chinese fighter hot on its tail.
“But I just don’t understand how the Chinese are being so effective,” Eris said “They’re taking down a lot of our vehicles and warriors, it’s like they know how we operate”
“Dark Eris,” Alex said
“What?”
“Your dark counterpart, she would know how the Eagles operate, she would know how to strike a devastating blow against the eagle tribe”
Alex looked up, towards a Chinese airship that seemed to be keeping away from the battle a little bit, but remained close enough to deal damage to its enemies.
“I’m betting that’s the command ship,” Alex said, causing everyone to look up towards the massive vessel “your dark counterpart is probably there, we need to disable that ship”
“All our jets are busy taking down Chinese aircraft,” Eris said
“And so is the typhoon” JayJay added
“Then we’ll have to get up there, board the vessel, and take it down from the inside,” Alex said, checking how much ammo he had.
“Seriously?” Eris said in disbelief
“We did it with Dark Laval’s ship. Besides, do you have a better idea?”
“How would we even get up there? And how would we clear the ship? All our warriors and aircraft are busy”
“Razar” Alex said into his radio “do you want to make another good deal my friend?”
Alex quickly explained the situation, and within minutes, Razar was landing, and Alex, JayJay, Eris, and Laval were all climbing aboard.
“Ok, we’re actually doing this” Eris said
“It is crazy” JayJay responded “but we did take down a Chinese warship with this tactic”
“I’ll stay here dudes!” Gorzan said, “and protect the landing pad!”
“Bladvic and I are gonna head back inside the spire and make sure it’s clear,” Cragger said, “You guys make sure that ship gets destroyed!”
Razar lifted off and flew upwards, towards the Chinese airship, and towards Dark Eris.

The Mirror Trees

“Run!" yelled Rogon the Rhino as he charged down the narrow jungle path.
The eight Chima warriors ran and flew down the trail, flanked on either side by the strange plant life of the Outlands. Behind them a swarm of Bats filled the sky, their leather-like wings flapping and their shrieks piercing the air. Now and then, a handful of the Bats would dive, forcing the heroes to duck for cover.
When the Bats had first appeared, Eris and a reluctant Razar had flown up to try and drive them off. But there were dozens and dozens of the new enemies to contend with, and the Eagle and Raven were quickly forced back.
"Look for a cave we can hide in," said Bladvic the Bear.
He was a big fan of caves, since they were dark and cool and great for sleeping.
"Bats love caves," Eris reminded him. "We would be trapped in there."
Worriz ducked as a Bat's spear flew past him. "What if we split up and scatter?" he suggested. "We might be able to confuse them long enough to get away."
"There are too many of them, my friend," said Razar. "Even divided, there would be ten bats for each one of us."
"He's right," said Eris. "We can't beat them with the normal tactics. We need a new strategy, or a new weapon, or faster wings and feet!"
"That's your brilliant plan?" Cragger grumbled as he jumped over a snapping Predator Plant's jaws. "Run faster'? I thought Eagles were supposed to be experts at coming up with strategies."
"We are!" insisted Eris. "Just not while under attack."
"Guys, there's no time for arguing!" Laval exclaimed. "We have to do something before those Bats chase us off a cliff!"
Rogon tore through some bushes, the others close behind. Just ahead of them was a small clearing with grove of trees. But the closer the heroes got, the more they realized that the trees were unusual. They were rather short and had shiny, silver leaves that seemed to be made of metal. And the leaves were cupped so that they looked like upside-down bowls.

Let's get under those trees," cried Laval. "Maybe they will give us some protection."
The eight heroes took cover. Gorzan examined one of the leaves and was amazed to find that he could see his reflection in it.
"Hey," he exclaimed. "I can see myself. Groovy!"
"So can I," said Razar, running a clawed hand through his feathers. "And I look goooood."

"They're coming," Laval interrupted. "Get ready."
"They're coming, get ready, they're coming, get ready, they're coming, get ready”
"We heard you the first time!" Cragger snapped.
"That wasn't me." said Laval. "Those are echoes, but I don't know where they're coming from.
Laval looked up through some of the branches on the shiny tree. Yes, the black cloud of Bats was heading their way. Then, right before his eyes, something strange happened. The Bats dove toward the trees in a tight formation, but as they got close, they started flying in crazy patterns and doing loops.
Over the next few minutes, each Bat attack ended the same way: Just before the Bats reached the treetops, they would start acting confused and scatter.

“What's going on here?" asked Cragger, his words echoing all around. "They're acting like they have been out in the sun too long."
"I don't know," said Laval. "It doesn't make any sense. First, they're chasing us, and then as soon as we went under these trees-"
“Yeah, the trees," said Razar, his eyes on the leaves. “Mavbe they don't like seeing themselves in these little mirrors, yes? They have faces even a mother Bat wouldn’t love."
High above, the Bats were shrieking in what sounded like anger. Razar cocked his head and said, "Wait a second. Bats don't see well, do they? So they couldn't see themselves in the leaves, no matter how ugly they are."

“That's right!" Eris cried excitedly. "Bats don't rely on their eyes-they use sonar to find their way around."
“Sonar?" asked Cragger. "What's that?"
“The Bats are using sound waves as their 'eyes,' Eris explained. "When they cry out, the sounds bounce off objects so they can tell where things are."
“Of course,” said Laval. “If the leaves are bouncing the Bats' cries around the same way they made our voices echo, it could be making their sonar 'blind'!"
Eris looked up through the branches. High above, the Bats were getting ready for another attack. "I have an idea,” she said. "Everyone grab as many leaves as you can."

"What good will that do?" asked Worriz.
"Just trust me," Eris insisted, handing out the shiny leaves to her friends. "All set?" she asked. "Now, run -and throw those leaves!"
The eight heroes dashed out from beneath the trees. Immediately, the Bats went into a dive. But before they could reach their targets, Eris and the others started throwing the leaves high into the air until it looked like a silver rainstorm going from the ground up to the sky.

Already too close, the Bats suddenly found themselves with no idea where to go as the cloud of leaves messed up their sonar.
Bats collided with one another, slammed into trees, and some even flew upside down as the leaves fluttered down to the ground. By the time the Bats could "see" again, Laval and the others were long gone.
Once the friends were out of danger, they stopped to catch their breath.
"Whew," said Gorzan. “I guess that's one time the strange things in the Outlands helped us. Good thing these groovy trees were there.”
“Yeah.” Laval nodded. "And it's a good thing Eris figured out what to do with those leaves, otherwise we might have been stuck there forever. Looks like Eagles are the masters of strategy after all, huh, Cragger?”
Cragger grumbled but then nodded his head in agreement. "Yeah, I guess you're right."
Eris smiled. "Thanks. But, it looks like my plan didn’t just work at distracting the Bats." She pointed toward Razar. The Raven was holding up one of the mirror leaves, staring at his reflection in the shiny surface.
Eris giggled. “I think those leaves have a secret power over Ravens, too."
"What can I say, my friend?" Razar grinned at his reflection. "If I'm looking good, I'm looking good."

The Sleepy Croc - From the Attack of the Hunters activity book
Laval looked out of the cave mouth at the frozen land all around. The world of Chima was in the grip of cold and snow and only he and his friends could hope to return things to normal. To do that, they had to figure out a way to defeat the Hunters.
But first...
"Can somebody wake up Cragger... again?" the Lion said, exasperated.
Ever since the weather had turned cold, Cragger the Crocodile had been falling asleep all the time. Cold-blooded reptiles prefer warm days and nights, and cold temperatures make them slow and sleepy. These days, Cragger was making Bladvic the Bear seem like a bundle of energy.
"I did wake him up," said Eris. "He stretched, yawned.... and fell asleep again."
"We need to move out," growled Worriz. "Throw a blanket on him, tuck him in, and leave him."
Laval shook the snoring Croc
"Cragger! Wake up!"

"Hmmm? What?" said the tired Crocodile. "Just five minutes more, Mum."
"Cragger, it's me, Laval! Get up! We have to get moving."
"Right, sorry," said Cragger, struggling to his feet. "It's just this c-c-cold. It just makes me so..." He paused to yawn. "Sleepy."
"We need to find a way to keep him awake," said Eris. "Well never get anywhere if he keeps falling asleep."
"I could tell him scary wolf stories," said Worriz, with a grin. "He won't be able to close his eyes all night."
"Hey, it's easy," said Gorzan. "Put some bananas under his nose. Nobody can stay asleep when they smell bananas. We should go get some bananas."
"There's no time for this. More of Chima is freezing every minute," said Laval. "We'll have to figure out a way to keep Cragger awake along the way."
The team set out. Icy winds chilled them to the bone as they fought their way through snow drifts and slipped and slid across fields of ice.
Eris and Razar flew high above, keeping an eye out for Hunters.
Razar was the first to spot trouble up ahead. "Eris, what's that in the middle of the lake?"
"Um, I think... oh, no, it's Plovar!"

Plovar was a little bird who spent most of his time hanging around with the Crocodiles. He called himself their 'dentist' and dived into any open Croc mouth he saw to clean their teeth. Amazingly, none of the Crocodiles had tried to eat him, at least not very often.
Now he was in considerably more danger. He had somehow managed to get trapped in the ice in the centre of a big lake. While Razar flew back to get the others, Eris tried to free Plovar:
"Come on, come on!" Eris said, as she pulled Plovar.
"S-s-top!" Plovar said, shivering. "My n-n-eck is getting s-s-stretched!"
Just then, the rest of the team made it to the lake. "Hey, Plovar, what happened, dude?" asked Gorzan.
"I was f-flying and I saw this very attractive bird down below. I flew closer and realized I was seeing my r-reflection in the water when the ice c-closed in on me," Plovar replied. “Can somebody get me out of here? It's c-c-cold!"
Laval thought for a moment. Then he shook Cragger awake. "You're going to have to save Plovar."
"Me?" Cragger said, in disbelief.
"Yes, you," said Laval. "The ice that's holding Plovar needs to be cracked. When it does, whoever is on it will wind up in the water. You're the best swimmer here."
"But I'll fall asleep on the way to get him!" Cragger protested.
"P-p-please, Craggy-wag," Plovar called, shivering. "I'm f-f-freezing."
"All right," Cragger said. "Just don't call me 'Craggy-wag'. I hate those nicknames."
Hesitantly, Cragger made his way out to the ice. He could already feel the cold starting to make him sleepy. But just as his eyelids were closing, Plovar shouted out again.

"H-h-hurry up, Craggily-waggy!"
Cragger's eyes flew open and he grumbled. "I told you, stop with the nicknames."
Little by little, Cragger moved closer to the trapped bird. Once, the ice cracked underneath his feet and he fell into the water. He struggled back up onto the ice and kept going.
Fighting the cold and the urge to sleep the whole way. But every time his eyes began to close, he would hear Plovar shouting, "Craggster! Rise and shine! No sleeping on the job, Craggmeister!"
By the time Cragger reached Plovar, he was both incredibly sleepy and incredibly annoyed. That made him an incredibly angry Croc.
"No-more-nicknames!" he shouted.
He raised his fist and smashed it down into the ice that was holding Plovar. It shattered into crystals.
The bird was free! Before Plovar could drop into the water, Cragger grabbed him.
When they made it back safely to the shore, Bladvic hugged Plovar to warm him up. "I w-wish I c-could do s-something to say thank you," said the bird.
"Oh, yes, you can," Laval answered, smiling.
A while later, the friends continued their journey across the snowy landscape of Chima. But this time, whenever Cragger began to fall asleep, Plovar would fly right up to the Croc and yell as loud as he could:
"Wake up, Cragginator!!"
And from then on, it was never a problem keeping the sleepy Croc awake.
