Anyways I think everyone should go watch win or lose, I feel like 90% of what I'm seeing is posts about how they censored a trans character and 10% of people actually praising the show for what it COULD do with what they are given, im not saying disney didn't do a bad or whatever, but it's one thing to to recognize the failings of a greedy corporate entity, and another to completly ignore and degrade the writers and artist that poured their souls into this series and that character
Here's what DIDNT happen:
-Disney didn't remove the trans plot line because of the election, theyre just like that. Theyve done it before theyll do it again regardless of the political climate, don't blame this on trump, blame it on network execs<<this is a fairly new take and it's so stupid. Animation takes time and the editing was done a year before the show released
-the character is still in the show, and will have her own episode still in the next batch of episodes released, we really don't know much information about her now still, and I'm holding out hope theirs even a small refrence to the original storyboard/script. But really at this point we just don't know how much has changed
-disney stepped in, pixar had nothing to do with the changes, only pointing this out because the writers at pixar obviously wanted this character to happen, but disney didn't want that story to be told on their platform, it's important to. You know, know your enemy and not just point fingers at everyone in the vacinity
-Chanel Stewart voiced Kai and is a trans voice actress, I don't see alot of people mentioning her and you should, she put alot into this character and was obviously really upset when her story was changed
This post isn't about letting disney off the hook, by all means pirate it, I actually encourage you to! But how often do you get an animated show about co-ed sports? That's something in it's own right that I'm amazed they were even able to keep in script, how often do writers get to try to make trans storylines that resonate with and include trans people? Even if it didn't go through, we know about it, talk about it!! Spamming 'fuck disney!!!' Under every pixar post isn't doing anything

Sua wanted to protect Mizi’s “innocence,” but with the new comics that have been released, it’s become clear that Mizi wasn’t naive about how she’s viewed societally or about the Alien Stage competition itself; what she was naive about was believing she could have some control over her circumstances and over how she is perceived while in the position she was in. That's the innocence Sua wanted her to hold onto for as long as possible.
Sua lets Mizi have control over her—lets her take the lead when it comes to their relationship and feeds into Mizi’s desire for control over her life. Mizi could “crush” her, but she doesn’t, and when Mizi’s emotions do get the best of her, she’s horrified and regretful, knowing that what she did was wrong because she truly loves Sua and doesn’t want to see her hurt.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sua knows that the bubble that they’ve formed for themselves is the only real place Mizi can have control, because try as she might to live a life the way she wants, Mizi can’t truly change how others see her. Mizi being a kind and joyful person isn’t a lie, but the problem comes with the fact that she’s a people pleaser and tries to keep up that part of herself even when she’s uncomfortable or upset. She tries to skirt around and act oblivious in situations where she knows she could hurt others' feelings because there's a chance that they will hurt her when her wants don’t align with theirs.
Mizi wants others to like her and to be her friend, but the only person she wants romantically is Sua. If she ignores the feelings that the men around her have for her, then hopefully they’ll sort themselves out and everyone will be fine in the end, right? "Please don't confront me, please don't feel entitled to me. I don't want either of us to get hurt."
Even after that unnamed boy physically harms and accuses her of being a manipulator, Mizi gives him the benefit of the doubt. She doesn't want to hurt anyone in any way; she never tried to lead anyone on.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Back then, even before Alien Stage, she felt guilty because she believed this idea of herself that she presented in order to hide her true feelings, a happy-go-lucky and carefree girl, was the reason that others resented her, idolized her, or thought of her so shallowly. She thought that the control she believed she had was what caused others to see and act the way they did to her.
Mizi hiding her “bad” emotions probably did affect how she was perceived a bit, but even if she didn't, would it have mattered? As previously said, she didn’t completely hide away who she truly was; she just played up the part of herself that she knew others liked. Her being completely transparent about everything wouldn’t have stopped some of the men around her from feeling as though she owed them something just because she was a woman; it wouldn’t have stopped people from resenting her for “having it easy.”
Mizi knows what society expects of her but still wants to feel as though she has control, so when she is harmed by societal values and expectations such as heteronormativity, she believes it’s her fault to some extent despite being disgusted with them herself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This finally leads us to the Alien Stage competition itself. Surely she and Sua can make history with a tie, surely she can control how this ends, and their performance can convince the audience to let them move forward together. Guardian Shine and her family may have not understood her, but as long as she’s loved by her peers, she knows she will survive. She and Sua will show them their love, and they will be loved by them in turn. They are going to make it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sua knows better, though. She’s let Mizi have control over her for as long as possible—has let her take the lead for as long as possible. She knows that individually they cannot change the hearts of those that subjugate them, that the audience's love for them will not save them. So she takes the control that she’s granted Mizi back, one of them has to die and Sua’s making sure it’s herself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(translation by: sorrowcure)
Mizi wants to have control, so her survivor's guilt tries to convince her that she always was the one in control and accuses her that this is what she wanted. She feels as though she can only blame herself for what's happened to those around her.

So much respect to Larian for ending BG3 and charting their next course on their own terms, but I’d be lying if I said that I’m not a little heartbroken that we have to say goodbye to the wonderful world and cast of characters they cultivated ;w;

Love when the antisemites tag their own antisemitism. Let’s break it down.
1. “Jews getting expelled over and over again” is a common antisemitic talking point. On its own it isn’t antisemitic to acknowledge-it’s a historical fact- but as we will soon see, in this context it very much is a sign of antisemitism.
2. The use of the word “you” in “you were expelled” indicates this user is not Jewish.
3.”is it kosher to take any accountability for that” (crippling economies through usury)- here op illustrates that they believe the classic antisemitism that Jews willfully destroy economies through financial manipulation. In actuality, Jews were forced into economic work due to antisemitism, and then were used as scapegoats for economic failure.
4. Note the use of the word “kosher”. When used in this context it’s clearly derisive and meant to be ironic. I’m sure op thinks they’re very witty.
5. “They hate us for no reason”. Victim blaming. Bigotry is never the fault of the victim, and demanding that Jews take “accountability” for the antisemitism we face is yet again an antisemitic talking point. The historical and modern reasons for antisemitism are well documented, especially this specific flavor.
6. This last paragraph is more of the same, this time directly to Jews. “Have you ever thought about what you did to deserve the hate?” Is this paragraph summed up. “There must be some logical reason”-there is. Basic research makes this apparent. However instead op accuses Jews of complacency, subtly implying that it’s intentional, that we want to simply be viewed as victims.
7. Finally, note the tags. Jumblr, Israel tags even though this has nothing to do with Israel, the phrase “am yisrael chai”. Op knows what they’re doing and intentionally wants Jews to see their bigotry, under the thin plausible deniability of “I was just asking a question!” I do not think we should give them that benefit of the doubt. This is blatant antisemitism.

It is really weird when people act like the Bruce in the Search for Ray Palmer/Countdown was what Jason wanted. The simplest interpretation is that he wanted his own Judy: the woman who killed the serial killer (the dumpster slasher) who murdered her sister and said there was no jury that would convict her. (They would really have to have make an effort to rig that jury to prevent jury nullification). Judy didn't become a serial killer or a vigilante or do any of that other stuff. She killed her sister's killer and that's it, that's enough. Jason agreed with her at the time, to Bruce, so Bruce knew Jason supported vengeance killings of serial killers in name of family.
Yes!!!
Judy Koslovsky mention my love let's goooo
Tbh, I could actually picture Bruce going out of his way to prevent jury nullification and get her for entrapment (even though honestly that's a stretch) and premeditated murder, just because he can and to remain in control/hold onto his status quo sorry, his morals-but maybe that's just me being a hater idk. I love the idea of her as some kind of parasocial mentor for Jason, she has no idea he exists and meanwhile he views her as someone who taught him such a valuable lesson...
Also worth noting that not only did Judy open the door for Jason to consider that it's possible to just kill one person to avenge your family, that it's feasible, that it's fair- I fear we forgot far too easily about Consequences, right after The Diplomat's Son, a story in which Bruce accidentally causes te death of Jose Garzonas (Felipe Garzonas' father) after he tries to kill Batman and Robin to avenge his son. Bruce puts the blame on Jason (despite, I repeat, being the one to accidentally cause Jose's death) and tells him, straight up, explicitly, that it's only natural for a father to be ready to kill to avenge his child. This is the issue right before A Death in the Family. Obviously it makes sense that, coming back to life to find out he wasn't avenged, Jason would interpret this as "being abandoned as his father's child", as Bruce failing him as a father. Of course he'd want and expect it- it's what he was taught to expect, what he was taught is owed to him. A kid like Jason, with such abandonment issues and such a deep yearning to be loved, being told "this is the proof of parental/familial love" and then having it withheld from him-how else should he interpret it?
What else should he want?
Jason didn't want a mass-murdering tyrant who doesn't believe people can change; Jason wanted a father, because Bruce taught him that's what a father does, and Judy taught him that it was possible.

I think it's really funny that queen joined the riptide pirates because a strange fish man was moved to tears by her singing and was like "hey me and my friends going to a battle of the bands next month you should come" (failing to mention that "me and my friends" are the most wanted pirates in the world) and then they just. didn't do that.
like they were ambushed by the navy before they even fucking LEFT all-port; and then they got high and were attacked by a fucking minor deity of the undersea; and then the captain that invited queen is like slowly dying from exhaustion but that's not important right now; and then they're on and island for a little bit and that part was fine until they're ambushed by the navy AGAIN on their way back to all-port; and THEN they decide now is a good time to go into the hell ocean made of evil gunk and dead people that no one is allowed to go in, and queen almost dies SEVERAL TIMES and is forced to confront someone from their past that he doesn't quite remember but is HORRIFIED of. and her consolation prize is a crown which, admittedly, was lovingly made by his captains in an attempt to cheer them up, but like. jesus christ. I think they missed battle of the bands.
