the trans viktor headcanons make thematic sense and i love t4t jayvik, but my first instinct of “intersex trans jayce” fits with their narrative connection and viktor’s transhumanism. viktor’s trying to do the bodyhack Glorious Evolution stuff, while his tied-to-him-across-every-timeline partner is transitioning + part of the “bigots keep trying to eradicate us but we’ll always be part of life’s existence” demographic babyyyyyy

(i heard homophobia isnt present in arcane’s story, so presumably transphobia and intersexism aren’t either? but i think it still fits the themes, of course… also im intersex and i Say So)

how do you think Peter finding out Miguel is trans played out?

To be honest I don't think he really makes a huge deal of it, Peter is pretty easygoing and the furthest thing from a bigot (when he's not being written by ego-driven insecure white men, that is.) --as far as direct scenes or scenarios go, it's not something I've ever considered before.

I think he'd be interested in knowing the social/scientific aspects of it in the context of 2099 being a future society, like general questions about transhumanism and advancements in bodyhacking and if people are cool about it decades ahead (probably not, but they're already not cool about it now,) he doesn't know a lot about it himself, but he'd be into hearing it straight from the source. This bitch reads science articles for entertainment and his comfort TV spot is nature documentaries; you can't tell me he wouldn't be a little nerdy about biological customization.

It could be as simple as Miguel patching himself up post-fight in his office when Peter walks in, and he notices that he's got unusual scars on his chest -- or no scars at all, but a heavy bust. Similarly, we already see Miguel injecting himself with mystery serum in a casual setting during the movie - there's an easy scenario here of peter asking what the multiple injections are for (worried it's maybe a diabetes thing and he shouldn't be bringing so much sweet stuff around) and Miguel just tells him its testosterone. I keep thinking of it as a really lowkey information drop tbh LOL Miguel is not the type to do a big coming out scene, if anything he avoids it. And Peter is the type of guy to answer that with a 'oh! huh that's cool' & move on

one of the curious things about being one of the two main content devs in the past year of an open source project is having to go clean up the half-done efforts of other devs' given projects. decoupling transformation magic from spellcasting into various talismans did make it so many more character builds can access transformations than prior, but by tossing out the prior connections to other schools of magic it also left a relatively plain set of transformations rather isolated and singular in its progression. having every troll and octopus end up aiming to become storms and statues is substantially less varied than earthshapers and weather witches of all sorts possibly dabble into the corresponding [earth | air] + transmutations form.

after a lot of brainstorming with my partner about the needs of variety and with the makeshift art compositing capacity I've picked up, actually coming up with enough forms to provide reasonable spread-out options then clashes strangely with the need to match the prior species-

-resulting in the absurdity of depicting a spine-coated cephalopod, a two-headed snake with cat ears, or vampire and werewolf armadillo-taurs. it does mean, also, in comparison to That Other Roguelike's permitting immense bodyhacking for a steadfastly genderless player-perspective, a character can actually divest experience towards transitioning into a traditionally-feminine mythological feline with a chest and an armoured skirt. who knows how popular that'll be compared to becoming a walking hive, though?

(will still need to get volunteer artists to cover a few remaining things- no compositing really will get a werewolf cat- but it's not too bad for preliminary art compared to other programmer-art.)

Serious question: Is there some bodyhack thing to not get headaches from effects? I love them so much but my head ouchie oh no -- and I haven't the faintest clue what search terms to use to even begin to research something like this. Please help a dummy pixel dragon enthusiast thank you.
