I went on a promenade @stlzoo with the Historical Sewing Society @stlgeorgians a couple of days ago and it was such a blast! So many people attended and I was able to see some familiar faces and I was finally meet some I only talked online. I still need to fix some things on my outfit but overall I think I did a good job drafting the patterns based on a few extants. #plussizereenacting is not tricky at all. You're a person. Making garments made for persons. 😋 Personally, I don't think I'm brave. I'm just existing and enjoying myself like any individual. I'm over 200 pounds and sometimes I can look slimmer and sometimes it doesn't. ➡️ It depends on angles, shadows and of course the type of #corset /#stays I'm wearing and the amount of padding. And it's perfectly ok. 👌🏽 🤬 In the past days I was super complimented (thank you 🙏🏽 ) and bullied for an specific picture. I got it. It looks extreme and it might not be your cup of tea. But keep in mind that I'm not a PR team. I'm a person like you that was fighting a tumor, has lost family members and have some fighting cancer. Life is hard for everyone. And nobody is doing great.😭 💎 I don't share problems because this is my escapism like many others. 🤷🏽‍♀️ 😬😬 I'm not here trying to look thin. Nor to trick anyone. People did wear padding and that gives the illusion the waist is narrow. Also the construction of the garment helps and on top of that, this one was made it with contrasting bias which further increases the effect. 🤩 it's my vibe to show myself in a curvy silhouette. I ENJOY IT. Lol I guess I want to be a sexy twisted water balloon. 🤣🤣 but if you prefer to have a different silhouette by all means. Do it. I found some extra pictures of this beautiful pair of shoes online and I just got a bit inspired to try to cover my regular comfy shoe with some beautiful fabrics. 🖤 The original one is reputedly worn by Lady Mary Stanhope, 1660. And is available The Shoe Collection, Northampton Museums & Art Gallery @northamptonshoe And is made in silk velvet and silver work... well 🤣 lol my version is just with whatever I had available at home, so it's midnight blue taffeta( left over from my last project ), leather, detailed in old gold appliqué & bound with grosgrain tape. All handstitched. 📚 while the shoe base and appliqué are not historically correct, the leather, taffeta and grosgrain are... So I guess it looks good enough to promenade. 3 quick tips for embroidery: (Honestly I tried to cut corners and it's not use😂) 1. IRON AND STARCH THE PIECE Double starch it if needed. It will make easier to work and will reduce wobbliness 2. Instead of pining appliqué, BASTE IT. Takes a bit longer but makes a difference. 3. If you can, do your embroidery before cutting your piece. If you can't like I couldn't PIECE IT temporarily Either basting it or pining it to make it full in the hoop. 🇧🇷3 dicas rápidas para bordar: (Sinceramente tentei cortar atalhos e não adianta😂) 1. PASSE A FERRO A PEÇA E ENGOME. Engome duas vezes se necessário. Isso tornará mais fácil trabalhar e reduzirá a ondulação do bordado. 2. Em vez de encher de alfinestes os apliques, ALINHAVE TUDO. Demora um pouco mais pra pespontar, mas faz a diferença. 3. Se puder, faça o bordado antes de cortar a peça. Se você não puder, como Eu não pude EMENDE a peça temporariamente. Seja alinhavando ou com alfinetes para deixá-lo inteiro no aro do bordador.
