March 3d’s theme is #resistance, and if I’m all about political resistance, my @bostonteapartyships alter ego Mary “Polly” Winegar Young is equally so! Married to freethinking Deist and Son of Liberty Dr. Thomas Young, I portray her as being as passionate about the fight for representation as her husband, and every bit as eager to resist tyranny. My own desire for social justice is certainly present in my interpretation of her. The first image is of me as Mrs. Young and my friend @kissingtheshoreline as Mrs. Abigail May, doing a presentation on Liberty Teas - the herbal teas that many used to replace the imported tea of the United East India Company during the boycott of imported tea. And I must note that while I look down on Washington for being a slaveholder, the above quote from his letter to the Jews of Newport, RI in 1790, has always meant a lot to me as a Jewish person. Day 31 of #modernlessmarch Friendship: I think I'm very blessed that no matter where I go I've always made the most amazing friends. Something we started last year was our Wednesday night book study and tea party. We meet once a week to discuss the book we're reading, make dinner and drink tea. It's been so special spending every week with these ladies. On a personal note earlier this week I lost a friend. It's been very hard but I know he's in a better place. It also serves as a reminder to remember my friends, make time for them, and cherish them. None of us are long for this world so we must do our best with the time we have. . . .P.S. I am going to try my hardest to partake in @pinsent_tailoring #modernlessmarch so here’s day one, who are you? My name is Laura, I’m 20 years old and currently working towards my degree in history. I got into sewing about two years ago with a dream to make Martha Jefferson’s dress from the 1776 movie. I have yet to make that dress, but the excitement for it has led me to spend all my free time sewing. Hand sewing is my absolute favorite and I can’t imagine life with out that simple joy. I also work at Joann Fabrics which has only expanded my creativity (and fabric stash). So I started #modernlessmarch by @pinsent_tailoring and even though I didn't follow through I do want to close out the last couple of days. . Day 30 is Travel: Last year the whole world shut down effectively changing out lives. As for me I took it to finally do all those things I always said I would, including traveling more. Last Summer I toured the USA starting in Wendover NV going all the way to Georgia and then coming back Southwest ending in Eli NV. I also for the first time visited Disneyworld and finally realized my dream of going to Epcot. I have since done many weekenders here and there and am now gearing up to head to SoCal for spring break.
