Reading, “The Secret History” by Donna Tartt

First off, I’m going to just start off by saying, if you are a fan of the dark academia aesthetic in books, this is one of the books I recommend you to read. It really sets the tone for the dark academia theme. I honestly am such a sucker for it. Anyways, besides it having a dark academia theme to it, it’s also a very interesting read. It’s well paced,forceful, and cerebral, and it will leave you not wanting to close the book from anticipation. I won’t go into too much detail yet about it (especially since I haven’t even finished it completely yet, and because I’ll most likely post an overall book review of the entire thing on my book blog), and of course if you haven’t had the chance to read it yet, I don’t want to spoil it for you either. However, I will give a brief summary of the story to give you guys an idea on what the book is about.

So, “The Secret History” is a story narrated by one of the seven main characters in the book. Richard Papen. ( Honestly, I love him 💗) Throughout the entire book, Richard is narrating and reflecting back from a couple years ago, when he was in University, where he attended Hampden College, in Vermont. He meets six others while at Hampden College, one of who, in the story, Richard is narrating on behalf of his death. That being Edmund Corcoran A.K.A. (Bunny) who was murdered. (My Baby🥲) Richard is retelling of all the events that led up to Bunny’s death in the end.

This book is a delight to read. I absolutely love the way Neil Gaiman engages with writers and content creators on his writing. And the art is so beautiful.
