🍁📚 Buenas tardes lectores 📚🍁 🍂 ¡Feliz lunes a todos! ¿Qué tal habeís pasado el fin de semana? ¿Habeís leído mucho? 🍂 Hoy tenía ganas de traeros la reseña de la que fue mi mejor lectura en el mes de octubre:  〰️ "Federico" de Ilu Ros. 〰️ 🔸️ Esta novela gráfica es un recorrido por la vida de Federico García Lorca. Desde su más tierna infancia, hasta su posterior fusilamiento durante la Guerra Civil Española.  🔸️ Lo más significativo de esta biografía ilustrada es, sin duda, la manera tan original que tiene Ilu Ros de mostrarnos la vida del poeta. Ya sea por boca de sus familiares, amigos y conocidos (a modo de entrevista en blanco y negro, dandole un toque más realista a la ilustración) o mediante textos, cartas y entrevistas, del propio Federico (al más puro estilo de la autora)  🔸️ Jugando en cada instante con la palabra y la imagen. Por lo que no se hace pesado ni dificil de seguir. Además de su dinamismo al contar anécdotas y acontecimientos inéditos, que nos ofrecen una cara totalmente nueva de la imagen más tradicional que tenemos de Federico como poeta y dramaturgo. 🔸️ En esta obra se puede ver al hombre tras su poesía. Un alma cándida y apasionada que vivió por y para el arte. Vemos la importancia que tuvo para él lo cotidiano, la tradición andaluza (que llevaba grabada en sus venas) pero sobre todo vemos la risa y las lágrimas del hombre tras la máscara de su obra. 🔸️ Una historia triste, entrañable y apasionada que no dejará indiferente a nadie que decida darle una oportunidad. QOTD: What book did you love where you hoped you’d get a sequel? Every time I looked at my shelves and saw Dance of Thieves I’d always think about how interesting the concept of the book was and that I’d love a sequel. I should never have a reading plan because I’m not even following it. Seriously. I planned to read 5 or 6 books this month but here I am, just finished reading The Play by Elle Kennedy which isn’t even on my TBR for October. No regrets tho.

Anyway, for those of you who have read Off-Campus series and the spin-off Briar U, you are probably or most definitely looking forward for this book.

THE PLAY is now about my baby, Hunter Davenport, captain of the Briar University’s Hockey Team and Demi Davis, a sassy Psychology major and a new character that we know nothing about.

The story is quite similar with some of Elle Kennedy’s book, I can compare it with The Score. Both are hilarious, honestly and are now tied on the 1st spot of my list of favorite Elle Kennedy’s books. I cannot remember the last time I laughed my ass off because of a book. She writes the perfect sports / college romance, friends to lovers romances, I’ve read the Off-Campus and Briar U series and she never did disappoint me, not even once.

The Play is an awesome novel, not because it was funny but because of the characters and the story (uhm, JL, obviously). We get to understand Hunter more, we get to know him better and we can see how he values Hockey, the sport and the people around him. He is indeed a great captain. As for Demi, she’s a new character but I learned to love her as the story progresses. She’s a smart student and some people can definitely relate to her especially when it comes to our relationships with our parents. Not going to elaborate more on this but I really don’t like her dad at first. I’m just glad they were able to rectify it in the end.

I also love how Demi and Hunter’s relationship developed from their quirky banters to their friendship and to something more. They have the perfect chemistry and I can really say that they are perfect for each other.

Elle Kennedy’s writing style is really amazing. There were no dull moments because I really laughed my ass off while reading especially when we get to meet the other players in the Hockey Team like Bucky and Connor and the funny egg, Pablo Eggscobar. I really love that we get to meet Dean, Allie, Hannah, Garrett, Logan and Grace again. God, I miss them so much!

I waited for Hunter’s story, just slept for 2 hours because I spent the entire night reading because I cannot stop. It was worth it tho. I REPEAT. IT WAS ALL WORTH IT. This is definitely my favorite of all the books in the series. (Briar U) Save the best for last, as what they say. It’s sad that this is the last book (as of now) but I’m hoping for more from Elle Kennedy.
