You weren’t one for streaming. You had tried it of course, but it ended up just not really being something you enjoyed doing often. But since many of your friends were streamers, you regularly made appearances on their various streams. one person you streamed with a lot was Punz. He had been a close friends of yours for years, even before he started streaming. You tried your best to keep up with him. No matter what game you were playing, you wanted to at least try to beat him, even if it wasn’t plausible. So, when he asked you to join a Mario Kart lobby it wasn’t much different.

“I’ve never payed Mario Kart before.” You informed Punz over your discord call.

“Okay,” he mumbled, distracted by his game of Valorant. “You’ll learn it. It’s not that hard.”

“I don’t know Punz, I might have stuff I need to do, when would it be?”

“Uh, like ten pm-ish tomorrow night?” Punz smirked as he thought of an idea to get you on board. “Oh, and I’m pretty sure Boomer’s going to be there.”

“Really??” You asked, a little too excitedly, coughing to try and cover it up. “I mean I guess I’ll have the time to play a few rounds-“

Punz laughed at your obvious crush, “But since you don’t know how to play we can run a few practice rounds tomorrow while we wait for everyone to show up.”

“Sounds great, I need to head to sleep though, goodnight!”

“Goodnight Y/n!” Punz responded, almost getting cut off when you left the call.

A face lit up when you thought of how you would get to play games with Boomer it wasn’t often you were both invited to the same event. Even less often that you guys actually got to interact and Punz knew that.

You decided you would actually go to sleep like you said you were going to, taking a quick shower first and then hopping into your bed and falling asleep.

When you woke up you were smiling thinking about our plans for the da. The hours went by fast waiting for Punz to set up the lobby. Around 9:00pm our phone buzzed with a discord message.

“Hey a few of us are playing a warmup round, get in here idiot.” You read the text from Punz right as a Twitch notification popped up on our phone, notifying you that he went live.

“Alright, who’s doing the warmup round?” You asked, placing your phone on your desk as you sat down to launch everything you needed to play, setting up your switch while you were at it.

“It’s just me, you, Sam, and Boomer for now.

“Omw.” You quickly responded before joining the live vc.

“That was quick-“ Punz chucked when he saw you enter the voice channel, “what, you excited for something?”

“Wouldn’t want to miss the warmup rounds!” You lamely exclaimed, cringing at your obvious lie.

“Mhhm, I’m sure.”

It wasn’t long before Sam and Boomer joined as well. Both of the boys were streaming so you pulled up Boomer’s stream. He was yelling some nonsense at his chat about how he was the best and how he was going to win all of the races.

“They don’t stand a chance chat, trust me!”

“Earth to Y/n!” Punz yelled, gaining your attention.

“Yup, what’s up? You answered, turning off your phone to pay attention.

“What are you doing? We’re about to start the race.”

“Oh, nothing!” Punz hummed an unbelieving tone as you selected a random map to play on.

“Ready to lose Punz?” Boomer taunted, revving his character’s engine.

“In your dreams/“

The race commenced and you and Sam couldn’t seem to manage to stay on the road, much less actually get anywhere at a significant pace. At this point it was more or less a race between just Punz and Boomer, which they made painfully obvious.

“hey Boomer, how does my dust taste?” Punz asked sarcastically.

“I wouldn’t know man,” Boomer responded as he overtook Punz.

“Oh shit!’ Punz yelled i frustration as he fell off the map, securing himself second place behind Boomer.

“What are you distracted driving? You on your phone or something dawg?” Boomer laughed as he poked fun at his friend.

“You were literally just texting me simping for Y/n actually shut the fuck up.” Punz admitted agitated as the scoreboard showed up with him in second.

“Woah there’s no need for that!!” Boomer yelled down his mic.

“Punz Y/n is so pretty,” Punz started reading off the pairs exits much to Boomer’s dismay.

“Lalalalalala!!” Boomer repeated to try and cover up Punz leaking ther texts, although the point had already gotten across.

“Punz, Punz, Y/n is going to be playing Mario Kart with us today I’m so NERVOUS!”

“Ohhhh shit!” Sam chimed in as you and him burst into laughter.

“Let’s take a bathroom break before we invite the rest to actually play yeah?” Same suggested.

“Sounds good, I’ll be back.” You added, muting yourself on discord and pulling up Boomer’s stream on your computer.

“Chat! Chat!” Boomer desperately yelled, “It’s not what it looks like, I swear I don’t simp for Y/n!”

You gasped sarcastically before typing in his stream chat, “What do you mean you dont simp for Y/n peeposadge.”

You saw them read the message as it flew through chat a few seconds later, chat erupting into chaos with your response.

“Well, uh-I-“ Boomer tripped over his words with furrowed brows, “Chat?? What do I do here??”

They looked to read chat for advice, spotting a message and reading it out loud, “I tell them I have a crush on them? GUYS, I dont want them to know! What if they don’t like me back?”

“Boomer, I’ve got something to tel you…” You typed in chat, watching Boomer scramble before you closed the tab and reinterred the vc.

Boomer noticed this and joined it as well.

“Hey guys, I’m back.” You announced to your friends enthusiastically.

“Hey Y/n!” Gumi exclaimed.

“Hey Gumi!”

“You took an awfully long time in there, Y/n. Did you fall in or something?” Punz asked you before taking a swig of his drink.

“Oh, yeah I did my bad.”

You laughed and moved on from the subject, greeting all the others in the vc except Boomer. Boomer’s confusion was very evident on his face, not that you could see it but you could definitely hear it when they spoke.

“Y/n?” Boomer asked, kind of just letting his words fall out rather than saying them.

“What’s up?” You tried your best to hold in your laugh, couldn’t let him on to you of course.

“What- what were you going to tell me??” He questioned.

“What do you mean?” The silence in the discord was very intertwining to you for some reason, it felt as though everyone was on the edge of their seats for this interaction.

“You came into my chat and said you had something to tell me?”

“No… I don’t remember doing that…” You played dumb, pulling up his muted stream on your phone to watch his reaction.

Punz caught on and decided to jump in on the fun, “O’Malley going to be honest man, I’ve known Y/n for a while and that just doesn’t seem like something they would do.”

“Wow Boomer, are you imagining talking to Y/n?” Gumi pled on, “Kind of weird…”

“Yeah man, kind of weird.” You said letting a small laugh slip at the end, hoping no one caught it.

You checked his stream again and looked at the chat, they were all spamming, faking amnesia to the situation that had happened minutes prior simply to throw their streamer.

“Guys! You’re supposed to be on my side, you bunch of idiots! Worst wingmen ever.” Boomer berated his chat.

You smiled wide and moved on to playing the game, instead of Boomer. Once Sneeg joined, Punz was rightfully put in his place. Sneeg succeeded in winning first place in every race with almost no trouble. Sometimes he would even lap the last placer, which was usually you if we’re being honest.

After the games everyone said their goodbyes and went their separate ways. You shut off your computer and grabbed your phone before throwing yourself into your bed to relax. Your phone was blowing up. Curious, you opened it to find the source to be God forsaken twitter. It seemed like every other tweet was about you and Boomer.

You decided they had been put through enough tonight and opened discord to shoot them a text.

“Sooo, would you want to go on a Minecraft date later or something?” You sent the message and started giggling when Boomer replied with a string of “yes”.

“It’s a date then.” You sent the text before closing your phone and dozing off to a much needed sleep.

A mischievous smile came over your face as you showed them a bowl, full of ramen, "Luke said too much ramen is bad for me and didn’t let me eat ramen for a WHOLE WEEK but guess who secretly went shopping?"

You slurped the noodles as actual tears gathered in your eyes, "Oh my god, is this heaven? Does Twitter still exist? Oh my god, I love you ramen, please marry me, I’ll eat you every day. Wait, that sounds so suggestive."

WAIT IS SHE ACTUALLY CRYING?? LMAO

You squinted your eyes as you read your chat, "'Make your sub-goal to not eat ramen'- fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, die, die, die, die, die, jump off a bridge. Who the fuck is this person? You're gonna get banned. Never EVER come to my stream and disrespect ramen like that. It's more likable than you. Who the fuck is this? I'm gonna report you-"

Your eyes slightly widened, "Wait, I forgot to take my sinus meds- meh, who cares about them."

You leaned closer to the mic and muttered, "Dream himself said don't take your meds- wait, I was kidding, taking your meds is important, do not not take your meds. It doesn't matter if I take my meds or not because they are homeopathic and I have to take them again later anyway- GUYS! Don't cancel me or Dream over this. I'd be very angry if you canceled Dream, I mean, technically, he was the reason Luke and I met in the first place."

I think, um, Bad, Skeppy, Callahan, Alyssa, George, Ant, Sapnap, Dream, Punz, and I was there... So basically Dream was the one who interviewed me, and when I passed he then introduced to everyone, and like after a few days Punz messaged me on discord, 'hey, do you wanna play csgo with me and my friends?' and I was like, I don't know how to play, because, I knew what it was, but I wasn't into FPS games then. And he said, 'ah no worries I'll teach you', and then boom, we have Minecraft date next week."

Your cheeks lightly turned red at the memories, "The date was fun, but it turned chaotic halfway because of the fucker Pandas-, and like, Sapnap was so little that time- like a baby, but overall, it was awesome. Then we kept talking and gaming and, here we are now, and that's how I met your father."

You slightly furrowed your brows, "I was supposed to play with Boomer but fuck that guy. How does he have such a fat ass? I don't want to live in a world where Boomer has a fatter ass than mine. I'm gonna unfollow him on twitter I swear to god..."

'how did you escape punz?'

You raised a brow at the dono, "Yes, the most important question, how did I avoid Punz? Easy, because I am sneaky as fuck. Also, he's sleeping. Or was sleeping. I don't actually know, he was sleeping the last time I checked."

BoomerNA: Im tellin daddy

Your eyes widened, "You fatass, don't tell Punz, you idiot-"

Loud banging on your door interrupted you as you flinched, "Oh no."

"Are you eating ramen again?!"

You closed your eyes and sighed in frustration, "I'm gonna kill you, you bald bitch-"

You flinched again as Punz banged on the door again.

You groaned and stuffed the remaining ramen in your mouth, "I'm naked! Don't come in!"

Punz furrowed his brows, "I thought you were streaming- wait, you never lock your door. Not when you're streaming OR when you are changing your clothes- YOU ARE EATING RAMEN AREN'T YOU?! OPEN THIS DOOR."

You almost fell from your chair as you hurried to open the door, "I can explain-"

Punz shook his head, "The only thing you are gonna explain missy, is why do we have like six packets of ramen on the kitchen counter."

You closed your eyes in frustration, "Fuck, I forgot to hide them."

He flicked your forehead as you yelped and pouted, "What did I tell you?"

You rubbed your forehead, "No eating ramen, only healthy food."

He raised a brow, "And what were you doing?"

You sighed, "Only eating ramen, no healthy food."

He folded his hands, "Then as a punishment-"

Your eyes widened and you pushed tried to push him out of your room, "I'm streaming, we can talk about this later!"

He gave you an unimpressed look, "Nu-uh, I'm staying here until you finish your stream."

You groaned and plopped back on your chair, "Fine."

He pulled a chair next to you as he connected another set of headphones, "I can always trust Boomer to snitch on you."

You rolled your eyes, "I'm never playing with that asshole ever again."

' 'punz scolds y/n on stream' sounds like a good trend'

The dono announced and you groaned, "Oh my god please don't clip it you guys, this is so embarrassing."

Punz leaned back on his chair, "Well, it wouldn't have to come to this point if you just listened to me."

You gasped, "I always listen to you! It's just that ramen is an exception."

You both started laughing while arguing your own sides

Eventually Dream got a little carried away in his argument

He was raising his voice and you were getting a little anxious

“Look, it’s not my fault you don’t know how to make cereal,” you awkwardly joked.

“Shut up!” Dream playfully yelled swinging his arms out to cover his ears like your voice hurt him

You flinched and stumbled backwards at his sudden movement, falling to the ground.

You sat there staring back up at him in silence

Dreams mouth moved to form words but they got caught in his throat

A few seconds later he left the room, leaving you alone on the dining room floor

You were almost about to start crying when he came back with a bunch of pillows and blankets in his arms

“Do you want to have a movie night?” He suggested, glancing at you before putting everything down on the couch

“That sounds nice.” You admitted softly

Dream went to the kitchen and helped you up off the floor beforing leading you by your hand to the couch

The two of you laid down on the couch and cuddled for the better part of the day

Occasionally Sapnap would join but it was mostly just you and Dream relaxing

You two were going back and forth seemingly endlessly

He was getting louder and walking back and forth to let out some of the energy he had

You decided enough was enough and walked towards him to admit you didn’t truly care, you just wanted to get under his skin

At the same time he quickly turned around with his arms half up in anguish

You flinched and brought your hands up to cover your face

George’s smile fell and his eyebrows scrunched up for a second before he cleared his throat and awkwardly went to go do something else in your bedroom

You finished in the kitchen, turned off the light and walked to your room

You could see the outline of George laying in bed

You stood in the doorway for a second before lying next to him

You both laid there in silence

“Did I do something wrong to make you flinch like that? I know we play fight sometimes but I didn’t think-”

“No, no, no. It- it had nothing to do with you George.”

George didn’t want to press you for information, knowing that you’d tell him when you were ready

You scooched closer to him, laying your head on his chest as he wrapped an arm over you

He kissed the top of your head softly and you fell asleep to him rubbing your arm

You were both just kind of throwing words back and forth playfully, deciding that whenever one person said something the other had to believe the exact opposite

Wilbur wasn’t one to pick a fight with you because he knew it upset you

So when he yelled almost directly in your face you flinched with your whole body

You stood there frozen in fear, hands covering your face and crouching away a bit so that you were less of a target.

Wilburs face fell once he realized what he’d done

He started to apologize but then decided you didn’t deserve a shit apology and just left

You stood still, unmoving even after he left the room

After a little while your body started relaxing but it only made room for your mind to wander

“Where did Wilbur run off to?” You asked yourself aloud.

Getting a bit worried you searched the house, eventually finding him sitting on your shared bed.

You sat down next to him and fiddled with your hands anxiously

“I’m sorry,” He admitted. “I don’t know why I got so upset all of a sudden. We were having fun and I ruined it.”

You took his hand in yours and assured him that it was alright. It was just an accident after all. Happens to the best of us.

Wilbur rested his head on your shoulder and wrapped his arms around you, placing a kiss on your shoulder

He pulled you backwards onto the bed until you were both laying down with his head resting on you.

He was doing a pretty good job at it too

It was just plain black nail polish to match what he currently wore on his nails

You were about seven nails in when a muscle in your arm randomly spasmed without warning, causing the arm Karl was working on currently to twitch very noticeably

Your arm bumped into the open black nail polish bottle and knocked it off his desk.

It landed directly into Karl’s lap, spilling all over his brand new pants

Karl slammed his fist down on his office desk in frustration

“Fuck!” He yelled loudly

You flinched at his yelling

Karl noticed you flinch and immediately calmed all the way down to avoid upsetting you any further

His shoulders dropped and he walked up to you and put an arm on your shoulder, leaning his head down and lifting your chin to look you in your eyes

“Hey, it’s okay.” He nodded, trying to reassure you, “It’s completely fine. I can just go change my clothes real quick and then I’ll finish your nails, alright?”

Karl smiled and your heart melted, causing you to smile back

“Yeah that sounds good, I’m sorry about your pants though.”

“Ay no worries, I needed to change into pajamas anyways it’s getting late”

You looked at your own outfit and realized it was the middle of the night and you were still wearing your daytime clothes.

“Oh, I should too actually.” You added, getting up from your seat and walking to your shared bedroom.

After Karl finished painting your nails you would lay in bed and cuddle for a bit. He would kiss all over your face until you were laughing and shoving him away from you.

You Dream and Sapnap had sat down to watch a football game

Frankly you couldn’t care less about the game, but you wanted to spend more time with Sapnap and Dream since they were always busy with their stream stuff

You made popcorn for you all and sat between the two boys so they could both reach while you held it.

You warned Sapnap not to but he unwisely didn’t listen

Just like you predicted his team lost and he ended up owing Dream money.

Sapnap started yelling, slumping down in his seat in frustration

“You’re such a sucker for gambling, you’ve got to get it together man.” Dream laughed, pissing Sapnap off even more. “You’re an easy scam.”

“Fuck you dude.” Sapnap spit

“Better start kissing my ass or I’m going to add interest to that shit.” Dream chuckled as he teased his best friend.

Sapnap flung himself up out of his seat on the couch next to you

He startled you, making you flinch and throw popcorn all over the place

You clung on to the popcorn bowl and curled up on to the couch and Sapnap paced the living room

Dream noticed you freaking out and decided to speak up

“Sapnap chill out dude, you’re obviously freaking out Y/n”

Sapnap stopped pacing and turned to look at you

“I’m so sorry Y/n, I didn’t mean to scare you.”

The boys decided maybe it wasn’t the best time to watch football so they turned on a nice movie instead

You curled up next to Sapnap on the couch and both fell asleep during the movie.

Dream left and went to his room to sleep, turning off the lights and throwing a blanket over the two of you.

Mario Kart Squabbles

Word Count: Little over 1.5k words

Summary: You’re playing Mario Kart with a group of friends (Boomer, Gumi, Punz, Sam, Sneeg, etc.) and it gets a little heated.

They/ them pronouns are used for reader

You weren’t one for streaming. You had tried it of course, but it ended up just not really being something you enjoyed doing often. But since many of your friends were streamers, you regularly made appearances on their various streams. One person you streamed with a lot was Punz. He had been a close friend of yours for years, even before he started streaming. You tried your best to keep up with him. No matter what game you were playing, you wanted to at least try to beat him, even if it wasn’t plausible. So, when he asked you to join a Mario Kart lobby it wasn’t much different.

“I’ve never played Mario Kart before.” You informed Punz over your discord call.

“Okay,” He mumbled, distracted by his game of Valorant. “You’ll learn it. It’s not that hard.”

“I don’t know Punz, I might have stuff I need to do, when would it be?”

“Uh, like ten pm-ish tomorrow night?” Pun smirked as he thought of an idea to get you on board. “Oh, and I’m pretty sure Boomer’s going to be there.”

“Really??” You asked, a little too excitedly, coughing to try and cover it, “I mean I guess I’ll have the time to play a few rounds-”

Punz laughed at your obvious crush, “But since you don’t know how to play we can run a few practice rounds tomorrow while we wait for everyone to show up.”

“Sounds great, I need to head to sleep though, goodnight!”

“Goodnight Y/n!” Punz responded, almost getting cut off when you left the discord call.

A smile spread across your face when you thought of how you would get to play a few games with Boomer, it wasn’t often you were both invited to the same event. Even less often that you guys actually got to interact and Punz knew that.

You decided you would actually go to sleep like you said you were going to, taking a quick shower first and then hopping into your bed and falling asleep.

When you woke up you were smiling thinking about your plans for the day. The hours went by fast waiting for Punz to set up the lobby. Around 9:00pm your phone buzzed with a discord message.

“Hey a few of us are playing a warmup round, get in here idiot” You read the text from Punz right as a Twitch notification popped up on your phone, notifying you that he went live.

“Alright, who’s doing the warmup round?” You asked, placing your phone on your desk as you sat down to launch everything you needed to play, setting up your switch while you were at it.

“It’s just me, you, Sam, and Boomer for now”

“Omw” You quickly responded before joining the live vc.

“That was quick-” Punz chuckled when he saw you enter the voice channel, “what, you excited for something?”

“Wouldn’t want to miss the warmup rounds!” You lamely exclaimed, cringing at your obvious lying.

“Mhhm, I’m sure.”

It wasn’t long before Sam and Boomer joined as well. Both of the boys were streaming so you pulled up Boomer’s stream. He was yelling some nonsense at his chat about how he was the best and how he was going to win all of the races.

“They don’t stand a chance Chat, trust me!” He looked into the camera and you blushed.

“Earth to Y/n!” Punz yelled, gaining your attention.

“Yup, what’s up?” You answered, turning your phone off to pay attention.

“What are you doing? We’re about to start the race.”

“Oh, nothing!” Punz hummed an unbelieving tone as you selected a random map to play on.

“Ready to lose Punz?” Boomer taunted, revving his character’s engine.

“In your dreams.”

The race commenced and you and Sam couldn’t seem to manage to stay on the road, much less actually get anywhere at a significant pace. At this point it was more of a race between Punz and Boomer, which they made very obvious.

“Hey Boomer, how does my dust taste?” Punz asked sarcastically.

“I wouldn’t know man,” Boomer responded as he overtook Punz.

“Oh shit!” Punz yelled in frustration as he fell off the map, securing himself second place behind Boomer.

“What are you distracted driving? You on your phone or something dawg?” Boomer laughed as he poked fun at his friend.

“You were literally just texting me simping for Y/n actually shut the fuck up.” Punz admitted agitated as the scoreboard showed up with him in second.

“WOAH THERE’S NO NEED FOR ALL THAT NOW!” Boomer yells down his mic.

“Punz Y/n is so pretty,” Punz started reading off the pair’s texts much to Boomer’s dismay.

“LALALALALALA!” Boomer yelled to try and cover up Punz leaking his texts, although the point had already gotten across.

“Punz, Punz, Y/n is going to be playing Mario Kart with us today I’m so NERVOUS!”

“Ohhhh shit!” Sam chimed in as you and him burst into laughter.

“Let’s take a bathroom break before we invite the rest to actually play yeah?” Sam suggested.

“Sounds good, I’ll be back.” You added, muting yourself on discord and pulling up Boomer’s stream on your computer.

“CHAT, CHAT,” Boomer desperately yelled, “It’s not what it looks like, I don’t simp for Y/n!”

You gasped sarcastically before typing in his stream chat, “What do you mean you don’t simp for Y/n peeposadge”

You saw them read the message as it flew through chat a few seconds later, Chat erupting into chaos with your response.

“Well, uh- I” Boomer tripped over his words with furrowed brows, “Chat?? What do I do here??”

They looked to read chat for advice, spotting a message and reading it out loud, “I tell them I have a crush on them? GUYS I don’t want them to know! What if they don’t like me back?”

“Boomer, I’ve got something to tell you…” You typed into chat, watching Boomer scramble before you closed the tab and reentered the vc.

Boomer noticed this and joined it as well.

“Hey guys, I’m back.” You announced to your friends enthusiastically.

“Hey Y/n!” Gumi exclaimed.

“Hey, Gumi!”

“You took an awfully long time in there Y/n did you fall in or something?” Punz asked you before taking a swig of his drink.

“Oh, yeah I did my bad.”

You laughed and moved on from the subject, greeting all the others in the vc except Boomer. Boomer’s confusion was very evident on his face, not that you could see it but you could definitely hear it when they spoke.

“Y/n?” Boomer asked, kind of just letting his words fall out rather than saying them.

“What’s up?” You tried your best to hold in your laugh, couldn’t let him on to you of course.

“What- what were you going to tell me??” He questioned.

“What do you mean?” The silence in the discord call was very entertaining to you for some reason, it felt as though everyone was on the edge of their seats for this interaction.

“You came into my chat and said you had something to tell me?”

“No… I don’t remember doing that…” You played dumb, pulling up his muted stream on your phone to watch his reaction.

Punz caught on and decided to jump in on the fun, “I’m going to be honest man, I’ve known Y/n for a while and that just doesn’t seem like something they would do.”

“Wow Boomer, are you imagining talking to Y/n?” Gumi piled on, “Kinda weird…”

“Yeah man, kind of weird.” You said letting a small laugh slip at the end, hoping no one caught it.

You checked his stream again and looked at the chat, they were all spamming, faking amnesia to the situation that had happened minutes prior simply to throw off their streamer.

“Guys! You’re supposed to be on my side, you bunch of idiots! Worst wingmen ever.” Boomer berated his chat.

You smiled wide and moved on to playing the game, instead of Boomer.

Once Sneeg joined, Punz was rightfully put in his place. Sneeg succeeded in winning first place in every race with almost no trouble. Sometimes he would even lap the last placer, which was usually you if we’re being honest.

After the games everyone said their goodbyes and went their separate ways. You shut off your computer and grabbed your phone before throwing yourself into your bed to relax. Your phone was blowing up. Curious, you opened it to find the source only for it to be god forsaken twitter. It seemed like every other tweet was about you and Boomer.

You decided they had been put through enough tonight and opened discord to shoot him a text.

“Sooo, would you want to go on a minecraft date later or something...?” You sent the message and starting giggling when Boomer immediately responded with a string of “yes”s.

“It’s a date then.” You sent the text before closing your phone and dozing off to a much needed sleep.

Sometimes, Niki liked to think of shooting stars as souls. Little blinks of a person’s essence finding their way to heaven and waving ‘goodbye’ to those they had left on earth before disappearing into the dense unknown of a black blanketed abyss.

She wasn’t sure if souls could grant wishes, but there was no harm in hoping.

So, the three of them went silent; each with a wish veiled behind quiet eyes that guarded the windows into their souls.

at sixteen, tommy felt as if he knew a thing or two about life. in fact, he could probably recall all important life lessons on his fingers.

1. life is cruel. life gives you lemons only to crush them into your eyes; however, if you can crush the lemons into someone else’s eyes you might be able to survive. 2. trust no one. there is nobody more reliable in this world than yourself. 3. family means nothing, especially if they stopped caring first. edit: family doesn’t always have to be blood. 4. do what you have to do to get by. if it’s a bit immoral, then so be it. 5. don’t let them see you waver. people will turn around and use your weaknesses against you. sadly, his brother taught him that one.

tommy follows these rules to a T, and that’s not going to change simply because his life is changing.

at sixteen, tommy works three jobs.

at sixteen, tommy deals with grief he never got to experience.
