im watching the demykatsu debut stream archive and thought id give a rundown if anyones interested? so it opened with a flashback abt the girls becoming friends over not being able to find their way around the school for the entrance ceremony. and then when the stream started parin was in a locker bc she was nervous (but really bc they just wanted an excuse to beg for comments 😭😭😭). the girls are in the streaming club, so they stream from their clubroom (they may also stream from other places in the school)
their first song is their schools official song for new students to perform, mankai helianthus (helianthus in full bloom). the instrumental version will also be released so fans can cover it. naturally their first coords are the school dresses.
the girls are all first years, their auditions went poorly but theyre self-producing to improve, and so they started the streaming club. theyre aiming for 1mil subs and to become top idols. it seems theyll be doing a live show every sunday at 8pm jst, kind of like the radio shows most anime idol games have. they plan to do original and cover song streams, and get their aikatsu senpais on their streams
so i guess vtubers commonly have an emoji that fits their vibe?? mierus is 💌, mehs is 🐑 (if u dont know, meh is the sound sheep make in japanese), parins is shown as 🥚 in this stream, but in descriptions its actually 🐣?? it may be both idk (her intro is that shes an idol egg, as in shes not yet reached her full potential ig). their group as a whole (really the school) is 🌻. their song title has エリオント/helianthus, the sunflower genus, so that tracks
the members colours are pink for mieru, white for meh, mustard yellow for parin. theres 4 lockers in the room, one each plus a dark grey one... hm............. a placeholder...? and later on in the dance segment, the sexy symbol is quite prominent. im totally predicting a fourth member at some point
they got a letter from their teachers announcing that the fresh idol fes will occur in august, where theyll have their first live. the pv from a few days ago seems to just be from the mv of their first song😔
the last segment is a dancing game, so each round the audience has to guess which member the prompt applies to. 1) who is wearing 2kg weights on her arms while dancing to mankai helianthus? 2) who is wearing earplugs while dancing to diamond happy? 3) who is wearing earbuds and listening to a different song while dancing to never give up (yuzu song from aistars)? and a bonus little titbit, whoever it the last one was, they were listening to mielumière (ninas song from akarigen)
...and thats all folks. honestly they have some good chemistry, and they didnt keep up the "wah we're soooo nervous🥺🥺🥺" schtick for too long. i hope theres more than just idol activities though, itd be nice to see them play video games and stuff (and not just shilling for bamco-published games😩)

Jubilee, Rank #72 (a post-event reflection)
Tumblr media
“Why would you post this on Nocturne’s 7th anniversary of its addition to Starlight Stage?” Because one, I like the song—especially the original duet. And two, screw it, we roll.
It has been a few weeks since the event ended, but I’ve been trying to write this reflection for weeks without trying to lose my mind over actually writing out several thoughts (both good and bad) over a collaboration event in a mobile rhythm/gacha game. Forgive me for the raw honest thoughts I’m about to say in there.
The Prologue
Tumblr media
Hoshimachi Suisei is a virtual YouTuber (VTuber) affiliated with Hololive Production, one of the biggest virtual agencies for such talents. She is one of the earliest talents recruited by the agency, alongside other soloist VTubers like Tokino Sora, Roboco, Sakura Miko, and AZKi—together referred to as “Generation 0”. She is also someone striving to become an idol herself. Prior to becoming affiliated with her current agency, she had tried entering IRL idol agencies, to no avail. She tried joining Hololive Production, but got rejected. She got into INoNaKa Music, but would eventually get transferred into Hololive’s main JP branch in December 2019.
To briefly describe her activities: Suisei is a forever 18, multi-talented idol who has done (and sung) a lot of accomplishments over the years. She has interest in 2D idols as well, with her having interest in Ensemble Stars!! and THE IDOLM@STER, the latter of which being an inspiration that led her into her own idol journey. She would do covers alongside other Hololive talents with songs from those two series. “Honeycomb Summer”, “Melty♡Kitchen”, “Alive Factor”, “Hanamuke no Tori”… to name a few. There were also times where she would often be pulling in the respective games’ gacha, often spending a lot of money on them. Her favorite idols from Enstars!! and IM@S include Ritsu Sakuma, Natsume Sakasaki, Hayate Hisakawa, and Kaede Takagaki.
Six years after her debut, she would perform with her own tantou.
Tumblr media
At Suisei’s 6th Anniversary 3D live, appropriately titled “SheenderellaDay”, a certain someone would perform with one of her fans.
The song? It was “Koi Kaze”.
Suisei shared the same stage with no one other than Kaede Takagaki, who was in her 1st SSR outfit. This was followed up by a small MC corner. Kaede switched into her 4th SSR outfit, and then a new song written by Suisei’s recurring composer, lyricist, and fellow Midnight Grand Orchestra member TAKU INOUE started playing on stage. As the concert was happening, I was merely saying “congrats” in my mind.
And thus, the grand “Jubilee” started.
The Event (and My Mixed Feelings)
Tumblr media
It’s easy for me to say that among the people who wanted a Hololive collab with THE IDOLM@STER in-game, Suisei probably won the hardest. She got her own in-game event, original song, a commu, and even an SSR in the series she loves—ignoring the behind-the-scenes shenanigans we will probably never fully know about. There were previous Hololive collab events in other gacha games, with Tokyo 7th Sisters and Granblue Fantasy getting their collabs in the past few years, but when it came to Starlight Stage’s collaborations, this was the game’s most intense collab yet.
I… didn’t initially plan on running this event much. While I was initially excited by the intensity of the collab event upon its official announcement, there were lingering feelings of “what if this were to be my tantou idol’s last event” and a slight hint of disappointment. The “end” of Starlight Stage had become a recurring topic among English-speaking Ps ever since the so-called “content reduction” announcement was released before the end of 2023. The collaboration itself was teased in that same announcement, but I presumed that the things around the collab were already in production as the whole “content reduction” stuff was being decided. The thought of losing IM@S’ most profitable mobile game because of whatever Bandai Namco is up to is kinda scary. It’s a silly sentiment towards a live service mobile game that will shut down eventually, but the thought is also real.
Then, there’s Kaede herself. Her last token event (and unit from the original mobile game) in Deresute, “Pretty Liar”, was held back in 2018. There’s… things I could say about her content released after that, both things I liked, things I felt odd towards, and things I didn’t really like all that much. In a nutshell: I want to see Kaede as “herself” and not just as the “final boss” Cinderella Girl that she is. It’s complicated.
And yet, this event’s timing couldn’t have been even more perfect. Lately I’ve been finding March and April to have moments involving my tantous. The event’s duration overlapped with March 30 (one year since Cinderella FES Mizuki’s release and eventually sparking FES Kaede in that same banner) and April 2 (10th Anniversary Tour Final, aka the live that changed the trajectory of my producing life forever). And the whole thing took place during Holy Week break, no less. The only real issues I would’ve had were potential connection issues that may arise in a then-upcoming 3-day road trip.
Why did this event have to be 11 days long?
The Actual Grind
Day 1 of the event started with me messing around with all my early intense grinding. I managed to get around the top 20 within the first 30 minutes of the event. Trying to maintain a top 100 spot was hard during the first few days, but eventually things stabilized as the days went on.
For a short break during the first day, I pulled on the collab gacha. My Suisei gacha tickets didn’t give me too much and got me an off-rate SSR (Miyo1), so I resorted to using jewels. Here came Kaede’s collab limited SSR, fully animated. My jewel count went from 55k at the start of the event to 36k—which would eventually be thrown into event ranking hell instead of being saved for the Kaede7 reruns (which was its own story).
Tumblr media
During day 2, I kept playing (actually sending my auto Grand team through EVERLASTING FORTE hell and back) while I was at a local convention for the whole afternoon. Not pictured: me showing fellow artists there that I was playing the event! I may have fallen out from my goal for a while, dammit, but I kept farming for tokens anyway.
In addition, I drank some coffee especially during the last few days, although sometimes I find myself feeling a bit sleepy…
Throughout days 6-8, I was stuck on the annual provincial road trip during Holy Week. I brought two phones through the whole thing: my main phone whose mobile data has been mostly spent on event grinding, and a side phone where I would often chat on Discord or play videos and music during the trip. During the second night, I did get to stay in the hotel room by myself (we had two hotel rooms) and took that opportunity to try staying awake.
On day 9, I hit the 99,999,999 money cap for the first time. Nothing too significant about it other than me having to spend a lot on stuff from the limited money shop. (That’s why gold bars exist in-game!)
The final two nights had me trying my damn best to stay up for as much as possible past 1 or 2 AM. If you really value your sleep and sanity over a dumb number for a popular idol’s event, I do not recommend this.
The last day of the event was quite a stressful trip. Within the final 24 hours, I wanted to try reaching the maximum amount of tokens you could hold (99,999 tokens) but I feared that there would not be enough time for me to reach the target. I ended up stopping the EVERLASTING FORTE grind as soon as I got to 90k.
I wanted to park at certain numbers related to my tantous (Ray Distance’s Mobamas debut date, the day CG 4th LIVE’s performance of Nocturne happened, etc.) but I wouldn’t have enough time and/nor tokens to actually reach those numbers. Near the end I tried getting 1,591,715 (Mizuki and Kaede’s respective heights) but in the end, I only managed to reach the 1.59 million point mark with the last tokens I grinded and spent.
The hardest part of the event was actually trying to keep that high amount of uptime, and it was more apparent when I would get knocked out as I was trying to stay awake. I have a terrible sleep schedule (or lack thereof) but my sleepy butt wouldn’t keep me awake for too long. The loop of pressing buttons every 2 minutes felt monotonous for 11 days straight, minus the part where I actually played the event song for either jewels or to get a high score.
My complicated feelings towards Kaede’s latest event song being a collab with a popular VTuber was stuck in my mind, and I first thought I would try to settle for Top 500 early on; but previous sentiments and “final event” anxiety, combined with some encouragement from friends and other Producers (who ranked with me) kept telling me to keep going.
Tumblr media
I ultimately finished the event at rank #72, which is… certainly a number associated with ChihayaPs. With a total of 1,590,435 points. I saw the numbers on Haruka’s birthday (April 3), send help.
I also made it to SSS rankings for the first time. It’s something I never really cared for, usually, but apparently ranking very high in a token event would let you in the top 1000. I never saw my actual SSS rank at the end of March (since I was too busy grinding), but I probably made it in the top 500 in the 91st SSS ranking that month.
The Tantou Unit Revenge
There’s one last thing I want to talk about, something I’ve been preparing for almost a year by that point. Long story short: I wanted to tier for the units I produce, and for the idols that are closest to me. I wanted to do that with S.E.M (my first tantou unit), but over the last few years my chances kept fading with each SideM game that got killed. By the time Growing Stars leaked announced its shutdown, I ended up starting to ask for a Kaede and Mizuki event (as Ray Distance) for me to tier in for me to have some form of “revenge” and (hopefully) closure on that front.
Of course that dream event didn’t happen (yet), knowing how much Bandai Namco and Cygames likes putting that After20 duo (who also have some of the busiest VAs in the series) together sometimes.
Tumblr media
Over 2023, I did get some top 2000s here and there, in both token and groove events. The last event with my actual tantous in it happened over a year ago (Heartboiled Wars with Tomoe). Every event I’ve tiered in has had an idol I like: Aki, Sanae, Airi, Kanade, and Koharu.
And yet, I didn’t tier in this event because I like Suisei… I tiered in this event because I like Kaede. So much that I ended up producing her.
As weird as I feel about the collaboration as a whole, giving up on this chance would’ve left me with intense regret for several reasons. Future me would be really disappointed if this is to be Kaede’s final Starlight Stage event. (So I hope she gets one more event after this…)
The possibility of me failing a chance of tiering one of my closest tantou’s events again scared me. I lost my chances more than once, and it would probably hurt if I give up that chance. It wasn’t the ideal event I wanted to try in, but the timing was too perfect not to ignore either. There were many thoughts swirling in my head throughout the whole thing, but then again… it’s a tantou event in the end.
I’m awaiting Mizuki’s next event (especially since she hasn’t gotten a new song for nearly 3 years now), but I need to recover first.
Despite everything…
In the end, I do not regret being Kaede’s producer.
Tumblr media
The Stats
PLv: 347 → 501. The 2x fan campaign combined with a bit of the EXP Produce perk boosts may have helped a lot.
Jewel count: 55k (pre-gacha) → 36k (post-gacha) → 7k. Thank goodness I didn’t have to spark Kaede in that limited banner.
Idols made past 15 million fans: Uzuki, Takumi, Nanami, and Tomoe. Three of my tantous & an excessive use of Nanami’s FES SSR.
Idols made past 10 million fans: Seira, Yui, and Koharu. Sanae, Miku, Nana, Ranko, and Karen also got a significant boost in fans due to all of this.
SSS songs cleared: Gaze and Gaze. Been wanting to save getting that clear for a special event.
Stamina drinks spent: everything.
Tumblr media
Total no of EVERLASTING FORTE plays at the end: 2,947.
SSRs obtained from collab gacha: 5 (two Kaedes, one Rin4, a Makino1 dupe, and a Miyo1.) I’d eventually gain another 2 SSRs after the event (neither of them were Suisei though. I had to resist pulling further because a Kaede7 rerun was coming…)
The Special Thanks
The KaigaiPs that ranked with me in the top 100 (Zhu and Shiina especially—those two are on a different league of their own) for helping me survive this tiresome first Deresute T100 attempt.
My fellow online friends from the various Discord servers and on Twitter, for supporting me. I’ve been keeping that whole thing under wraps from my main account out of embarrassment, but yeah.
The Hololive Fan Wiki, Virtual YouTuber Wiki, and the JP Hololive Unofficial Wiki for Suisei research.
Tumblr media
As a final note… when’s Passion Jewelries? Or the next Kaede/Mizuki event?

...shit, no.
Fuck! No! I don't need a story that details B'st being an idol in my modern AU.
He's demanding either the insane popular 60-80 star a la David Bowie, or the insanity that is saddled by the Kpop phenom.
If I go the Kpop route, he's not gonna be a contemporary of Resh'an/Aephorul (unless....wacky hijinks like Daft Punk did, and you don't *know* what he really looks like, so he's leading a double life as a professor at the college and star??)
Or he's an older star that got out before his popularity waned, but no one knows where he is now? And would never think that he'd settle into such a mundane life??
OR BOTH?? Older star that made a comeback online but didn't want it to interfere with his current life, and Resh'an made him an insanely detailed Vtuber/animation for all his songs (that looks like in-game?) Ends up doing a "live" show like how that Hatsune Miku live performance was done (with the "hologram")?
...this is gonna end up an OT3, too...bc it's not gonna end with just Resh'an pitching in on this whole thing. Oh, no. Aephorul is going to find out what's been keeping his husband occupied, and ends up helping out (in total tsundere fashion, of course). And he'll have the best ideas too.

I wanna meet other UK/EU Tabletop Gaming streamers!
Across my time both writing and streaming TTRPGs I’ve learned how huge the tabletop gaming streaming space is! Buuuut, a lot of it is focused in the US, and time zones can make it sometime really difficult to work on project or perform with them.
But I know that there are streamers who cover tabletop stuff in Europe-friendly time zones, and I want to meet more of them!
If you watch (or you are) someone who does Twitch/Youtube streaming based on any facet of tabletop gaming, please drop me a reply!
To be clear, tabletop gaming includes both the physical realm (board games, TCGs, ttrpgs, miniature wargaming) and digital equivalents (Tabletop Simulator, YuGiOh Master Duel, Deckbuilder Roguelikes, Citizen Sleeper...). It can be live plays, discussion, game making... anything!
I’ll check out anyone and everyone you recommend me, but I do have an additional interest in any of the following:
Up-and-coming streamers (I likely will have heard of the large channels!)
Fellow VTubers
Fellow PoC and Queer streamers
Streamers who play a variety of things (you don’t need to only cover tabletop games, or just one game)
TTRPG Actual Play channels that don’t play Dungeons & Dragons (I like discovering new games!)
Thanks so much to anyone who can help!

I feel like if I had just gotten over myself in the first place and started selfshipping openly with Waver I would've maybe been a happier person but without the takeoff of the mastersona community here I wouldn't have had the confidence or like... playing field? to do it in. Idk. It's kind of funny how like. Denying myself that connection like that. Really did impact my life in an insane way. When I look at my old posts from this blog's beginning and from shitpostsaber it doesn't even feel like the same person anymore. Or like. I can't... remember the depth of suffering and aimlessness I was experiencing back then. I had dropped out of college and was struggling with depression and ptsd and chronic illness so bad that I couldn't get myself out of bed most days, and I had no skills or talents I could make a decent living off of. And I was broke. And living with a parent who denied I was mentally ill in the first place, and HIS solution to my disability was to LITERALLY put me back into the cage that caused the brunt of it. He said, and I quote, "Sometimes it only feels like you progress when your back is up against the wall."
And I fucking hate that he was right. The last time I showed any prerogative towards my self survival and progress as a human being was when I had come to ask to live with him in highschool, back when I lived with my mother, and it was like -- something about seeing her flub the act of parenting or caring or being a real person so hard enraged me to the point of taking care of both me and my sibling and then eventually myself. It made me start looking for options to survive and carve a path out for myself. And then he essentially exiled me here, to live with her again, and when I called him and asked for help, he said that; and said Money is Freedom. it was fucking heights of covid lockdown then of course so that wasn't going to happen for another year. But the year after that everything changed rapidly. One by one I started being an adult who put his life together and was able to get his shit together tangibly enough that I could (...most of the time) afford an apartment, a car, utilities, a phone, etc... this was not the kind of person that the person running shitpostsaber could've imagined.
And I don't know what Salter thought either. Salter wasn't capable of thinking about these things. Maybe Salter thought an eternity of self harm based ironic humor was the answer. You can live by being funny, and likable, and hurting yourself for jokes while the secret only being visible to you; the spectacle of online media performance. It's why I'll always have a sort of visceral hatred for the vtuber phenomenon, for the act of separating your Self for performance, for an online audience of in particular People Into Anime And Manga And Games. And Otaku Shit. Right before I ended the blog I was working on putting together a model w/FaceRig for streaming. I'm glad I didn't finish, like many of my projects I had started.
I had to continually deny my self's existence and to overlay it with that presumed Artificiality in order to justify my existence. Because reality isn't desirable, isn't marketable, isn't cute or attractive. My sona now is fat like I am. Has roots coming in. I draw the nose a little crooked in some images, I draw the fat under his chin. I draw thick scratchy eyebrows, fat thighs and belly. He's me now. He is finally me. That representation of me, for all fantasy's worth, is still me. SPSB couldn't comprehend removing that lense of Anime Girl Funny Relatability. Or maybe couldn't imagine claiming this all as their own. Whatever the case may be, I'm freer now. I'm less possessed by trying to be something I'm not -- because I am what I am, and because I acknowledge how I've grown and what principles I operate on. I just am who I am. And all of that that exists with me is me. All the dissociative stuff, all the fatigue, all the frustration, all the issues, the spontaneity, everything. It belongs to me now. Not to the lense.

Performance Art with New Media Technology [ASSIGNMENT 1]
For this assignment, I was tasked to do a case study on international and local artists who incorporated the use of new media technology with their performances. From these artists and their chosen work/performance, we can observe how the technology used improves the performance and how they can be improved in the future.
International artist chosen: PLAVE
Tumblr media
PLAVE is a five-member virtual idol group operating under a virtual entertainment company, VLAST.
They are known for using game engines and motion capture technology to track each member's gestures and facial expressions, similar to the concept of virtual YouTubers or Vtubers in short.
On March 12, 2023, PLAVE made their official debut. Focusing on music production in the Korean pop or K-pop music industry, they periodically release music albums and singles just like any other idol group.
Performance chosen: Hello, Asterum!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The concert took place over two days, 13th - 14th April 2024 with the first day being a fully physical performance and the second day being an online performance that was simultaneously aired live online for international viewers.
Domestic fans in South Korea were able to purchase tickets to enter the concert venue during the performance day. Meanwhile international fans were given the option to purchase online tickets for the online streaming scheduled for the second day via Weverse, an entertainment platform originated from South Korea.
They performed live on both days as seen by the clear discrepancies when comparing the two performances side by side, with the pre-recorded videos or VCR being filler segments played in between singing performances.
Technology used:
Motion capture
3D Assets
LED Screens
Stage special effects (pyrotechnics, smoke and haze machines, confetti and streamers, bubbles, drones)
Sound system
Local artist chosen: Abdul Shakir
Tumblr media
Known by his stage name "Grasshopper," Abdul Shakir is a multidisciplinary multimedia artist and one of the co-founders of Filamen, a company that specializes in interactive installations, light installations, and projection mapping.
He has experience working in production and post-production agencies and has completed a range of design and art-related projects, including interactive installations, motion graphics, graphic design, and projection mapping.
His projects have transcended Malaysia and are now being shown in China, Hong Kong, Spain, and the United States of America. He has shown his art in a number of prestigious exhibitions, including the George Town Festival, Rainforest in the City, Urbanscapes Art Festival, and LAMPU Festival.
Work chosen: Rimbun
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Rimbun” was showcased during the Singapore Night Festival exhibition back in 2023. This work is basically a form of organic projection where he experiments with the mapping process on living things, including trees and leaves.
For this exhibition, it is focused on projection mapping of cultural Malay designs personally created by Abdul Shakir himself on plant leaves of different plants during the night time.
Featuring seven distinct motifs inspired by plants like Starfruit, Nutmeg, Common Fig, Jujube, Sugarcane, Citron, Cocoa, and Guava, these motifs reflect his personal interpretation of these plants and their significance during Singapore's role as an entrepôt between east and west.
Technology used:
Projector
PC computer
Rendered plant motifs via TouchDesigner
How does New Media Technology Improve the Concept and Stage Performance?
From the implementation of new media technology in performances which are the usage of motion capture technology and projection mapping, they offer the possibility to enhance their storytelling and visual graphics as a whole for a more enjoyable experience.
Visual elements prepared using computer graphics, not limited to pictures and videos but including various multimedia elements such as motion capture and projection mapping allow performers to creatively express themselves and their artworks while being able to captivate the audience.
For example, in “Hello, Asterum!” PLAVE and VLAST were able to utilize the visuals in 3D space effectively, resulting in their performance to look like a projection of a hologram while they were in fact only using a flat screen.
Another instance is the ability to manipulate the space to fit each member’s solo performance, creating environments that fit the genre of the songs being performed.
Being able to manipulate 3D space with their virtual models allows PLAVE to showcase an alluring and captivating stage performance in real time, suitable with their concept of being virtual idols.
As for the idea of organic projection mapping as seen in “Rimbun”, I would say that it promotes the idea of seeing mundane things in our lives in a new light.
As Abdul Shakir mentioned that the patterns and motifs being projected were inspired by plants, it shows a connection shared between the man-made motifs and the plants being associated with, subtly showing the beauty and inspiration from nature.
In my opinion, it is a unique way to show how one element may be related to the other and a great medium for an entrancing storytelling since the audience will need to approach the installation in order to fully immerse themselves with the artwork.
How can it be innovative in the future?
Simply put, stage performance visuals are no longer limited to 2D space as they can be manipulated to be shown as 3D regardless of the projecting medium.
Organic projection can introduce a new method to showcase one’s creativity in storytelling, ensuring that the message conveyed can be understood.
Synchronized light projections via light sticks held by the audience in a large crowd may increase the immersion and elevate the experience during a stage performance.
Conclusion
As technology advances further with time, we can expect to see more implementation of new media technology in future performances.
Taking the opportunity to include and utilize them in stage performances especially may help to increase immersion for the audience and deliver a comprehensive and meaningful performance.
Hopefully, with new media technology, artists and performers are able to experiment with their creative freedom and in the end, bring forward inspiring and innovative works of art for us to understand and appreciate.

ugh. i just watched yorukura / jellyfish episode 11. im going to actually kill myself dude
spoilers below for episode 1x11 of Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night
an overwhelming aspect of this anime is how the characters interact with the internet. this thoughtless, heartless, soulless medium which connects people from all walks of life. it simultaneously allows for true, anonymous self-expression and also untraceable public shaming. JELEE's entire thing is that she was a singer that lived and thrived online, far from the stage where tachibana nonoka once stood, completely removed from reality yet still inextricably connected to it through song. the internet allowed her to inspire and touch people purely through the screen, completely removed from her old identity. hey, doesn't this sound familiar? hello! if you're still reading this, that means you probably have watched the episode already. from hereon, i will still be referring to kiui with she/her pronouns. this isn't from conceding to any public opinion, but only because of my perception of kiui's character.
kiui's arc had plateaued by the midseason, as she had come face-to-face with her old friend mahiru about the truth, but she still hasn't *really* confronted what was really wrong *to herself*. kano's attempt at disconnecting her old idol persona with JELEE is paralled by kiui's own disconnection of her born identity as watase kiui and her built identity as ryugasaki nox: how she is perceived, and how she *wants* to be perceived. kiui and nox are both bombastic: they are over-the-top, obnoxious, and in-your-face about who they are and what they stand for. but watase kiui is tied to societal perceptions and expectations for what a watase kiui should be. struggling and pressured by those very expectations, she retreated to ryugasaki nox, a persona who isn't exactly what she is (there is some exaggeration), but crafted to be known by other people as someone she wants to be perceived as. it's not that she is ashamed of who she is, it's just that she doesn't want to confront what other people perceive her as (the 'weird girl').
in light of the Situation, she is exposed both as watase kiui (the 'weird girl' who doesn't go to school) to her vtuber audience and as ryugasaki nox (the livestreamer who hides under a fake name to perform as this 'fake' character) to her real life 'audience'. it has to be noted that she does not stop performing even after the exposé, she still streams under the name ryugasaki nox, with the same character. she does not hide who she wants to be like, primarily to save face in front of her audience (there is no apology video or anything), but she does avoid confronting her real life audience both by the very same act as not budging with her ryugasaki nox persona, and by not responding to them in real life, which is a classic kiui move.
this is where mahiru's role comes in. she, much like in their previous shared episode arc, is unrelenting with her love for her friend. she makes it known to her that she loves her and accepts her for who she is: her hero, the *strongest* hero. time and again she is nothing but supportive towards her friend, even with the reveal that she was not the student council president, even with the fights, even with the group falling out, she is always behind her no matter what happens. likewise, kiui is also very supportive towards her, the lying and hesitation aside. mahiru helps kiui, but it was kiui herself who stood her own ground in front of their old friends: being loud and proud of who she is, no matter what happens. which is, i have to say, a classic kiui move.

Project 1: The CisLunar Visual Novel!
My multimedia project, CisLunar, is one that has been in the works since I first started streaming possibly 2 or 3 years ago. It is only recently that I decided to take streaming seriously so while I've had my account for a while, I feel like I've only gotten in the swing of things earlier in December. Cislunar, a real word, means "between earth and the moon". It was a random word I found out about while I completed a word search on my phone and ever since, a story has been growing. Plus, as I go by Cis, it really fits lol
The crux of the story is about grief--acknowledging it, processing it, and adapting from it. Almost 3 years ago, I suddenly lost my father. I have been riddled with several emotions that I wanted to process and thus this story is born.
The story follows Lunar Sun (she/they), an alien cat woman who lives on Planet GJ504b (the pink planet). She is a radio host by day and a mafia informant by night. While she smiles and laughs, she's been making a dangerous habit, one that leads her to a new up and coming job. Online entertainment is at an all time high with entertainers reaching different people across the galaxy. The trouble is, people would like to keep their anonymity. Thus the now booming job of Mutualistic Parasite is born. Because they have nothing else to lose, Lunar takes the job leading them to Cis the Parasite (she/they). Cis the Parasite is quiet, stoic, and clearly a loner. Lunar believes they can be partners, but doesn't realize they have more in common with the earthling...
Ooooooh So Interesting! So Wonderous! It's So Unfinished LOL
So we have some goals for this year regarding the VisNovel:
Finish the script for the CisLunar Visual Novel!
Finish designing characters for the CisLunar Visual Novel!
Actually learn ren'py programming!
Project 2: Streaming
I started streaming part time on December 6 (I believe lol I'm bad with dates)! It's been so wonderful so far! Thanks to some wonderful artists, things look much shinier and new! Please take a gander at my twitch page (and follow! you know you want to):
twitch_live
I've been having fun playing games and drawing and I can't complain! However, there is one small issue--I don't get many viewers. While it is true that with whatever I make, I don't do things for numbers or follows, it is also true that streaming alone can be quite lonesome (shoutout to calcium for making it when they can and being a trooper in the chat! I genuinely perk up when you pop in because it is not just me anymore LOL).
That being said, I have a couple of goals for streaming this year!
Get 50 followers
Have at least 10 people chatting in chat.
Slowly but surely complete the PC-98 inspiration for my streams (I actually got a head start on this one; already got a new overlay commissioned~)
Learn more things I can do with obs plugins, to help with the PC-98-ification of the streams
Buy a better laptop to stream on (this one is nice and it lagging helps with the old school vibe I'm going for, but I need some better performance!)
And a big far away goal--have a big named vtuber say I'm their fave obscure streamer lolol
Project 3: Music!
Honestly, because of work and at the time how tired I was due to my health, I didn't have enough capacity to put out the big bulk of music I made. I literally have at the least 40 tracks that are just on soundtrap LOL
With that being said, starting in the new year, I plan to finally put this music out there! It needs to be out into the wild! I'm also going to do my best to draw a cover for each album as well (this is where the backlog gets created), but I've allowed myself to be happy with a cool free use image as well lol. With that being said, there are already 5 albums ready to be posted. They just need cover images and they'll be put up!
I'm also close to finishing Vol.3 of Cosmic Canary Radio aka the stream music! Getting close to 50 tracks so it's the biggest one so far. I believe I have 5 tracks left and then I'll be done! Here are some tracks as a preview of what's in Vol.3
(lol not all the bands use caps in their name, that's just a hilarious coincidence for the ones I chose to put here)
For this project, the goals are:
put out finished albums!!!
Put out Vol 3 of Cosmic Canary Radio!
Make a section (or separate tumblr) for the fake bands in this universe!
Project 4: Quasar
This is a very far away project, but I'd like to get much farther on it in hopes of working on it while finishing CisLunar Visual Novel.
Quasar has been in the works for at least 8 years now, but I've finally worked on it in earnest the past two years. It's influenced by shows/movies like Redline, Motorcity, Speedracer (the movie more than the show), etc. It connects with the zeitgeist within CisLunar loosely so unfortunately I need to get CisLunar started before I can start posting some things about it (I might break that rule though).
Goals for this project include:
finish designing characters
finalize how the story will be provided to readers
complete the plot lol
I have some personal goals too, but I won't go into to much depth here. Most of them revolve around my own mental and physical health, and while I said I would be open to a degree about my issues to help convey there is a real life human in reality behind this screen, I'll leave it at I'm gonna learn to live with PCOS and I'm tired of having a mentally sick mind. While this year has been quite positive for me, I also had some major lows that stopped me from doing what I love--creating things.
LOL ALSO--I plan to update this tumblr more! More sketches and designs and me putting my stream schedule on here and stuff! That was a run on sentence but it is to show how much stuff is going to be on here now!
This was an EXTREMELY long post, but I wanted to write out all of my goals. Maybe I'll come back at the end of next year and see how well I did!
Until then, seeeee youuu neext tiiimmeeeeee!

Things that are bothering me about the Enna racism scandal - 1
No one's going to read this and that's okay. I just wanna write my thoughts out in a formal way while this is still fresh in my mind and in the news in general so I can point to it in future possible situations.
Situation summary: Towards the end of a collab stream between Kyo Kaneko and Enna Alouette, both of Nijisanji EN, Enna spews some serious antiblackness in the form of stereotyping and othering. My thoughts on the situation and response to it by not just Enna but others under the cut. ⚠️ If you are looking to start a fight with me over this or be a weird racist weirdo on this post or in my asks, it literally isn't worth it because I will not engage and will absolutely just block you or clown on you. ⚠️
The circumstances are absolutely poetic in the worst possible way. Enna is the focus of this controversy, as she should be. What I haven't seen enough people bring up though is that Kyo being the other half of the interaction makes this incredibly ironic and even a little darkly comedic. Kyo uses/appropriates aave (African American Vernacular English) as an admitted white man and has cute little blaccent to pair with it. Him being the center of the antiblack comments made by Enna and having to be the one to "educate" her on how what she said was harmful genuinely blows my mind. The argument that Kyo simply grew up in an area with Black people and that is why he speaks the way he does is...a flimsy defense based on past life information I won't share on this blog. All I'll say is that there is evidence supporting that he only started speaking the way he currently does recently and even if that were not the case, there is a discussion to be had about him essentially being a straight-up minstrel show just by being a member of a major vtuber corpo who is not Black, but uses Black vernacular and speech as a part of his brand to entertain a mostly non-Black audience.
2. Enna and Kyo created a perfect storm for this entire situation to occur, unintentionally. Enna constantly makes inflammatory comments on stream and is constantly apologizing, doubling down, or joking about said comments eventually getting her "canceled". This has obviously aged poorly. Kyo, as stated in my feelings towards the first point, is also someone who will never understand the experiences and culture of Black Americans, no matter how much "that's crazy" comes out of his mouth. Despite this, he is perceived by many to be Black. Hell, when I watched his debut live one of my Black girlfriends and I were almost 100% in our automatic assertion that he was Black and that he was likely the first Black member of Nijisanji, which excited us.
The nature of Kyo's performance of Blackness as a white man happening parallel to Enna's constant controversial tongue getting her into mini-scandals and leading up to them becoming a duo with a perceived fun dynamic as a result of their friendship was probably the most unfortunate concoction of circumstances that created this entire scenario. It was inevitable that, on the path she was taking, Enna would say something so foul that it'd be legitimately deeply problematic. It was also inevitable that Kyo would have to engage and contend with the fact that he is a non-Black person who, because of his performance of Blackness, is now perceived as such or at least perceived as having some sort of proximity to that identity. Their becoming friends simply caused both of these things to happen faster and at the same time with the other person's assistance.
3. Why is everyone saying "POC"? This is a BLACK issue. What managed to annoy me the most upon further inspection of the reaction to Enna's comments is that even other Black people, many of which have decently-sized platforms in the vtuber space, are not using the word Black when talking about this and other similar situations. This has nothing to do with people of color in general in terms of who the targets, victims, and affected are. This is about BLACK people.
Enna was not thinking of anything other than Black people when she made comments about Kyo sounding like he listens to Snoop Dogg and eats fried chicken with his friends. She was calling on old and tired stereotypes about Black people that she likely learned from media depictions of Black people and culture as well as the societal normalization of those ideas.
Black should not be a scary or dirty word to use. When we are talking about issues that specifically affect Black people, seeing everyone say that it affects "POC" genuinely ticks me off because it's a term that was made with the purpose of describing the experiences of more than just one particular group of people but is being used now in place of just saying which particular group's issues you are talking about.
What Enna said was anti-BLACK. Vtubers are constantly being exposed for anti-BLACKness. The issue is anti-BLACK racism and not something that applies to all people of color in this particular instance.
I believe that a lot of people are not equipped with the words, knowledge, and information to engage with this discussion in a way that is deeper than acknowledging that it happened and was really shitty for like a week or even a month before we move on to a new vtuber controversy or graduation or what have you. Obviously, Enna is not the first and will not be the last vtuber to say some very anti-Black shit. But I think there needs to be a wider community discussion for both vtubers and fandoms about why this continues to occur and how to get it to not happen nearly as often. Or at the very least when it does happen, there shouldn't be people en masse defending whoever perpetuated harm by calling people "sensitive" and "thin-skinned" for being hurt by literal racism.
The hesitancy of vtuber spaces to discuss "politics" has caused a weird perpetual cycle of something fucked up happening involving a vtuber's words or actions relating to social justice and political issues getting them massive hate and/or being defended by others at the same time with a surface-level discussion of the grievance being had, but ultimately not going any deeper than "this is good/bad and vtubers should remain apolitical beyond saying hate is bad".
This cycle is going to continue for as long as everyone wants to pretend their oshi doesn't have or shouldn't have any sort of political opinions, ideas, or beliefs. But instead of any sort of effort being made to address the inherent issues with this way of looking at content creators especially, we talk about it as though we care for a bit and then go hee and haw about Vox getting hate for saying water tastes like piss on Twitter or something. It's incredibly frustrating and I know the same thing is gonna happen here, which just makes me feel tired.
---
I honestly have a lot more thoughts but this post is already an essay so I'll probably make another post later about my other thoughts because I have Many.

Lipstick, wilting flower, red teardrop
💄 : does your oc have any inspiration?
🥀: favorite thing about your ship?
🩸 : what does your oc think of canon character?
Tumblr media
(Oh boy this is a long one so buckle up!)
💄 : does your oc have any inspiration?
— Of specific characters? Not really, or none that seem obvious to me. It actually started off of me having this thing of mixing enstars character traits (like hair and eyes) which happened to a previous oc of mine, Katsumi, whose pink hair and red eyes is from Ibara and Nagisa. Although unlike Eria, she does have a connection with them being their manager of sorts..
While Eria, was from Wataru and Eichi! But like way more subtler, I just used Eichi's fringe as a reference and different blue tones for Eria's first design.
Though now it's more independent since I use colors (Lilac) as a way to start it off. I did keep some seraphim energy in her "Vtuber persona"
🥀: favorite thing about your ship?
— The fact that I can project on all of them, it's like self-love with extra steps. And also probably the fact that both Eria and Tsumugi are bleeding hearts who seem weak but are actually more capable than they originally present themselves, having done harm in the past. Or how Eria and Natsume mirror each other so both of them have to confront that part of themselves in each other.
🩸 : what does your oc think of canon character?
— She calls Tsumugi, "Muuchan", and Natsume "Mecchan".
Eria regards Tsumugi very highly, and that's even after she faced the fact that she idealized him a bit too much. They live in the same general area so she often got to see him around, though they didn't really exchange many conversations after the dance studio Mrs. Aoba shut down, or prior to the establishment of ES.
"He's beautiful, kind, and reliable.. the kind of person who's awkward when it comes to love because he hasn't experienced it very much. Like if you decided to drown a dehydrated man in the ocean, oh, my sincerest apologies, that sounded morbid didn't it?"
Eria does respect Natsume quite a lot, having quietly supported Switch since it's early days. The moment she witnessed them all performing, it was as if it sparked something anew within her. There's not much to add when she later remembered that she used to be classmates with Natsume as well, since it only really emphasizes to her on how pretty he is. Although in the case of when they actually start getting to know each other, they both get on each others' nerves.
"The most beautiful of roses have thorns to protect them, Mecchan is probably a good example of that. He's always... just saying all these kinds of words.. I know there's a hidden meaning beneath them but.. ugh, it feels as if he's trying to place himself above me."
If you got this far, have a cookie! ☆

Castle & Soulmate Origin
This is further lore for my Twitch channel’s vTuber: CassiaBloodstone
Not intended to be world class writing - I just needed a place to put the info since Twitch panels are not working correctly for me right now!     It wasn't a fluke that Cassia found her way to Bloodstone Castle tucked neatly away within the German mountains. From 1820 to 1821, Cassia met and fell deeply in love with a traveling classical music professor from Germany named Oleander Harkness; as did he - with her. Oli stood over six feet tall, had dimensional ash brown hair and a short beard both peppered with grey tones, and honey brown eyes. They shared their love of piano, books, nature, and warm cups of soothing tea. Soon, it was weekly that they were going out for plays, orchestral performances, walks in the park, museums, food, and drink. They had become rather inseparable; their relationship being understanding and equal.
Oleander was planning to propose marriage to Cassia, in which she would have enthusiastically accepted, though he wanted to do it at the perfect location. Oli was going to set up travel to his home in Germany to show her around his dwelling and surrounding town. Wracked with nerves of Cassia seeing his home for the first time, he kissed her goodbye and traveled back to Germany to make sure all was in order.
After all, revealing that he was an alchemical wizard living in his family's castle that had stood the test of time for generations was no small feat.
Devastatingly, weeks had gone by where no correspondence was received from Oleander. Pained with the assumption that Oleander had decided against their relationship after as much investigating as she could do, Cassia focused on her work. The incident soon happened at the college, and Cassia fled to Bloodstone Castle - which was revealed to be Harkness Castle.
Both Cassia and Titan's memories were lost with time and magic, but upon recollection through collected pages, she had found that Titan, the castle's sentinel, was Oleander's proudest creation. Oleander's ethereal guidance with the last of his life essence brought Cassia to the castle to rest for the 200 years she was in a deep slumber after fleeing England.
Through more investigation from the collected pages, a letter was found that Oli wrote, stating that the castle had been sieged, and that he was to die from those who wished to eradicate magic. The letter was bundled with twine, written with haste and love, and was supposed to have an engagement ring for Cassia...but had been assumed to be lost in the chaos. Perhaps it still lingers here? (see channel point redemption: 'Cassia, I found the ring!')

An important message from me
Hello everyone. You might have noticed that I have been streaming less often for a few weeks now. The only stream I planned very soon is playing the new Tintin game for a bit. So, allow me to go into an explanation into why it has been happening.
I have been streaming for 2 years and several months as of writing this. I started one August night in 2021 after I was inspired by a new friend at the time who was also streaming to start as well. It was not much, but I did something that I wanted to do. Around that same time, I was several months away from watching Twitch streams and stumbling upon the VTuber community. That was the inadvertent explanation for the PNG of a hand drawn aardvark head for the early days. As I watched more Twitch and found more VTubers, I was also crafting the experience for my own, creating several assets of my streams for, what it was supposed to be, an evolution of my streaming.
I was keeping it up for months on end, fitting them in beneath my college work and outside work at a restaurant that was increasingly becoming more stressful. It’s a tough balance, one that I still struggle with to this day. Part of the difficulty to balance became increasingly the relationship with streaming. While I oftentimes relayed the purpose of streaming is to enjoy myself doing whatever to any name that comes across, picking between various games that I was interested in, creating art live with an old and dying Chromebook, and whatever other activities, there were times which I felt dissatisfied. I was dissatisfied with my performance in providing commentary during gameplay, speaking clearly or being funny in general. If you know me well, you probably know that I have relayed all these issues onto you. Oftentimes, the answer is you just trying your best in beneath the unpredictable algorithm of Twitch, and I agreed, you know, maybe it was just a bad stream or not a good night.
However, it was increasingly hard to know when and why those bad nights occur. The unpredictable algorithm of Twitch feels like wrestling with inconsistency, and being razor tight with everything planned and ready for a broadcast that you don’t know if people will actually come or not. I am on the autistic spectrum, and one of the things about me is having a pattern or routine to go through, as a mental glue for the order that happens. It is often the same way with forming schedules and going through with planned streams. Sometimes it works because it feels like the right time and place, but due to the changing and arguably more capitalistic nature of Twitch, it felt as though those bad nights occur more often, either due to technical issues or just not being of massive interest. Something about me is that I play stuff that I am genuinely interested in, and that changes from time to time. You may have noticed that I was playing Sonic games and then later SpongeBob games, but they later appear to be mere hyper-fixations. The reason I started playing Undertale last month was because I thought that was fitting for October and because it was in my backlog- and I have yet to go back to it.
It's more present to me nowadays, that delving into things is spontaneous but spurred out of genuine interest in presenting things, whether it’s topics to discuss or interesting games like Jimmy Neutron vs. Jimmy Negatron, a game that I played in my childhood that I find really memorable. It was more of a disparity between wanting to stick to my guns and do whatever tickles my fancy and needing to grow and evolve the channel, eventually reaching affiliate- the goals and circumstances becoming more impossible without grinding, burnout or reaching an unhealthy mindset. There were some wins, but at what cost? At the same time, when I was writing about topics that are on my mind, I felt more engaged. Writing is more so an effective way to communicate my thoughts for me than speaking or even art. I thought I can do both and split the time, but as I watch more video essays or more informative works, those writings can eventually be those video essays, not just writings on a site.
And so, it comes to this. After the upcoming stream, I will no longer be streaming consistently and instead shift my focus to creating videos to YouTube. I have a poetry channel that I want to put work into creating art, while displaying video essays and more informative yet fun content on to my self-titled channel. I have been learning to edit gradually, and it has been a more of a challenge that I am proud to be taking on. I have already started drafting quite a few potential YouTube videos, but it is something that can suit my strengths while also improving in ways that are manageable. I want to talk about Tintin games in a more genuine fashion, not simply play them and attempt to be funny. I never had the strongest and most expressive voice, but I can work with the vision when reading a script.
That is not to say, that the Twitch streaming is all for nothing. In fact, I somewhat debate this being a decision I do not regret. The most valuable aspects are improving my art, both hand-drawn and digital, getting out of my shell in communicating, and more importantly, all the wonderful people I meet along the way- acquaintances, fellow mutuals, and the best part, my friends who I love dearly so much that I can’t even believe that I have and keep, all who have helped and supported me, and that I have helped back. Letting go of this almost feels like abandoning, and I apologize to all the people who haven’t been able to catch my stream who won’t see me live again.
I do not know how this will work out, and it scares me, the unpredictability. But I know a path through that that I will take. Maybe it will be a permanent decision, maybe it will not be. Maybe I’ll come back to streaming whenever I really truly feel like it, maybe once a week or two weeks or whatever. Part of this is the changing times, and the inner desire to ride those waves, despite the mental struggle to adjust or just wanting something to change and be new- and I think that I will be happy in the long term.
Thank you for reading this very long message (like I said, this is how I effectively communicate), but thank you for being there, whether you follow, talk or even share my stuff. For all I know, this is merely just a beginning.
Sincerely,
A.I. The Aardvark

Kagami Hayato Dating Headcanons
Tumblr media
Kagami Hayato x gender neutral reader Requested by: ME BITCH Proofread: N/A Genre: Fluff Music: A Dark Academia Playlist to Read to Warnings: Mentions of overworking Author's Note: Kagami my beloved <3 I have been wanting to write more vtuber stuff for AGES but my requests are all backed up with irl streamer content. I'm doing this for the 24 people who liked my Holostars content /j. Seriously though, you guys don't understand how much vtubers take up my daily life. I recently bought a 3 pack of perfume for 3 different Nijisanji livers (Mayuzumi, Kanae, and Kuzuha) and I love them. Anyways, Kenma is a vutber whore, just thought you'd like to know. (Also fun little writing thing I do, I like to imagine the Nijisanji universe ((the digital world they live in)) to be very much like a slice of life anime. Very fun very chill 10/10 would live there. Everyone is goofy and a nerd <3) -Mod Kenma
I don't know how to express how much I love this man-
He's such a nerd and honestly when you're with him, you're gonna have to deal with the rambles
It's not like they are annoying or anything, it's just that he can talk, a lot
He'll be talking so animatedly and then he'll turn to you to take a breather
Just because he talks a lot doesn't mean he won't ever listen to you
He loves seeing you talk passionately about the things you enjoy and will try his damndest to learn whatever he can so he can conversate with you
Kagami absolutely loves it when you show up at his work and bring him coffee or a homemade bento, it really brightens his day
When he has the time, he tries to do the same for you and when he can't, he will make you breakfast on days he's off
He can make the perfect coffee and tea, hands down
As soon as he knows how you like it, he can perfectly replicate it
His genmates love you and rope you in when they playfully tease him
They try to use you to one-up him but it never works out
Kagami literally gets so smiley and ignores practically everything to pay attention to you
(All of ROF-MAO are dog boys I don't make the rules)
A lot of people think of Shachou as this intimidating individual based on how he presents himself and his position as CEO but they relax almost immediately when they see him with you
They're like "Omg Kagami-san is so scary-" and then the two of you walk in discussing the newest Pokemon game or the newest Yu-Gi-Oh pack he bought
He loves it when you support him when he does something big or out of his comfort zone
He loves seeing your face in the crowd when he's performing, it makes his heart happy
He's very passionate about what he does so seeing you there to support him brings him to tears, it makes him so delighted
He does the same thing for you, of course
He's always by your side and cheering you on
Let me ramble about how the ROF-MAO boys would act for a moment-
Kaida, being the only SOMEWHAT normal one out of the group, thinks you two are cute and gets a bit jealous
He wants something like the two of you
Fuwa uses every opportunity to bully you both
Kenmochi airs out your dirty laundry pretty much
He's the one who says "you would not BELIEVE what (Y/N) and Sachou did"
It's never something too embarrassing but it can be pretty flustering
He'd call the two of you out when you're wearing matching outfits or something similar
ROF-MAO went from 4 idiots to 4 idiots and their parent friend
You're the one that makes sure nobody dies, for better or for worse
Same goes for when he's hanging out with Yashiro, Chaika, and Ryushen
You and Dola are watching from a distance to make sure they don't do anything stupid
Sometimes you join in with their shenanigans
Overall, Kagami looks scary and intimidating but in reality, is a sweetheart and goof
