The song fades, and there’s applause as he releases Mipha back to her attendants. He bows as he lets her go, his lips brushing over the back of her knuckles to honor the custom, and as another song begins the room turns to Zelda, who has the privilege of his final dance.

Link’s eyes are on her. There’s nothing in his face, no remorse in his gaze, only the blank acceptance he wore when she told him they were through. The sword that sliced them apart taunts her, its hilt twinkling behind his twitching ear as it no doubts whispers to him in a voice she will never hear. He holds out his hand.

Zelda swallows, feels Impa’s sympathetic eyes on her cheek, and crosses the room to take it.

��Hero of Hyrule,” she greets stiffly, looking him in the eye.

“Princess.” His eyes linger on her mouth before they flick up to meet hers. He lifts her hand in the air and places his other on her waist. His touch burns through his white leather gloves and all seven layers of her clothing. “How are you faring tonight?”

The claiming of the Master Sword rips them apart. A month later, Link is assigned Zelda's appointed knight.

Post-Botw. Zelda's first walk on Hateno beach. She got her body back and she's slowly but surely re-experiencing and reclaiming physical sensations.

Totally inspired by my friend @summonerluna's wonderful Zelink fanfiction "Worship the Ashes" (but they dont wear the same clothes in her beach scene) I will never recommend her fanfiction enough. Extremely canon-compliant, peak Zelda POV, peak world building... Peak Zelink yearning ❤️

i lied put your clothes back on im gonna tell you about how 1. canonically in his game Warriors appears to be an incredibly introverted and quiet person and even in LU canon his loud personality appears to be an act while Wild on the other hand is a high energy chatterbox extrovert instead of the other way around (he does not have to canonically SPEAK to interact with others and the yiga rely on his tendency to talk to strangers SO MUCH that thats how they try to trick him), 2. how some people’s infantilization of Wild makes ABSOLUTELY no sense considering this is the kid who woke up, grabbed a stick, and went “Okay, alright then” and then proceeded to just go fucking batshit, he is clearly independent and capable, and 3. how annoying it is that people treat him as if he’s a wild ‘feral’ animal and not a person considering he always looks well put together and is incredibly polite whenever he talks to people (or a little sassy some times if you choose those dialogue options, but either way he CAN communicate and he does so well). in this essay i will-

People tagging "Selectively Mute Link" and then having him use sign completely hassle free is... hm. I support the energy, but I think it's slightly a misunderstanding of what selective mutism is

1) most of us with selective mutism are never taught sign. We're not given access to aac devices. The therapies for selective mutism are all focused on one thing - getting us to talk. The argument could be made that something different would be protocol in Hyrule. That's fine

2) selective mutism is an *anxiety disorder.* those who are given alternative methods of communication often still struggle to use it. If Link is selectively mute, then his anxiety would take over and make it difficult for him to sign.

And don't get me wrong, the way his mutism is described in canon for botw sounds like a form of selective mutism! I just think people overestimate a selectively mute person's ability to sign in the moment

Before treatment, I couldn't point to things if someone outside of my family or very small friend group was looking. I couldn't write out what I wanted to say and show it. I had no functional communication outside of whispering into a close person's ear and them speaking for me

I physically *could* write or point, but I couldn't show what I had written or communicate to strangers

If your Link is selectively mute, he likely would be unable to sign in the instances where he is unable to speak

Idk, I love the energy, I just think people really overestimate what someone can do to communicate during a selective mutism episode

okay so funny story abt linked universe, i don’t actually read it, but i kind of know a lot about it by proxy cuz i read a lot of link x reader fanfics aaaaaand that kind of led me to reading a lot of lu x reader fanfics bc heyyy more link content is more link content am i right? & i’m always glad to see more art/writing/fan works of my faves. so i’m aware of the general premise, some basic/major plot points & the personalities they’ve interpreted for all the links. but i don’t see myself actually reading linked universe actual comic, tho.

i have never actually drawn any of the lu designs before so here is wild being beautiful & gorgeous 🩵
