The poetics of the Vlad the Younger vs Vlad the Older in so far the Haruspex and Bachelor Route are just keeping me up, and Vlad the Younger being a possible adherent, supposedly only removed for the sake of not accidentally auto-game-over as the Bachelor just adds to how interesting this choice is to me. Lots of musings below this, I do not know where I am going with this
Additionally, "Panacea Blackmarket" ALSO takes place on this day in which Vlad the Younger is linked to it, something that Daniil first detests ("The man won't let a single penny past his purse! It occurs to me that he is no better than Bad Grief), with a hint of Dankovsky-typical "wait maybe the worms framed Vlad for this, let me check"). The Bachelor is only to change his opinion once he finds out that Vlad is now trying to "make amends" by distributing the panacea to the people he had doomed (Yes, people do change a lot. Before, I was convinced that this man was beyond salvation. I thought that nothing less than death could make the leopard change its spots. But I see a new man before me now. His former self has died; but not before he gave the entirety of his panacea stock to Mark Immortell.)
"Subterrarean Rot", to me becomes interesting because Daniil very much likes to align himself with the truth and slowly and surely has been shown and expected to lie tooth and nail to protect himself. Finding our who is behind the Termitary's state, Daniil is originally to decide who to deliver to Taya, but his journal entry is SO interesting about this:
The whole thing proved to be a trivial affair, but no less terrifying for it. When Isidor informed the Olgimskys of the impending outbreak, it was the younger who did what the elder did not dare to. But as the consequences became known, it was the father who shielded his son from the ramifications. A double deceit. This being known, I am in a strong position to speak with the Olgimskys.
I remember my jaw dropping at this when I found out Vlad the Younger, who had seemed so reasonable, had been the one to lock up the Termitary, but Daniil describes him as doing "what the elder did not dare to." Calling Vlad the Younger out, he is more than ready to carry the consequences, while Vlad the Older decides he will take the blame for his heir. When Taya asks Daniil to bring him "who is responsible for it", he (and the game's writing in so far), identify Young Vlad for it.
So how would Daniil decide then when this is how it comes about? When the man is showing so much change? Well, he can take a third option and just not decide - he brings Taya her toybull instead.
And oh goodness? The potential conflict of "the truth is my shepherd" seeing a person who makes an effort to change (if genuine or not that, like so many things, another question) to deliver someone? The choice to take a third option because, in the end, what does this matter if there is a town to save?
It just says so much about what could be Daniil's priorities. It's fun! And then we have Artemy...
"A Son Will Not Be Punished For His Father's Sins" is already named in a very interesting matter - and it immediately calls back to the Haruspex's own position as a "son". This takes place on the day Artemy claims his inheritance in front of Foreman Oyun - it is the day where, unlike the Bachelor, Artemy himself CANNOT avoid making this decision - one of the Olgimsky men needs to die.
There are two fun layers to this - on the one hand it is learning that Taya does not directly care who of the guys she is getting (something I think she also mentions to the Bachelor but I cannot check right now) and learning more about the polcies of the families in the Steppe. Artemy learns it is common among the merchant families that one sacrifices himself to protect the heir at all costs - and that what matters is that someone is punished for a crime that is committed.
Artemy's journal entries for the quest are very interesting leading into this:
So, Vlad the Heavy surrendered himself to Tycheek's daughter? It's clear enough that he isn't the real culprit… I only have to decide if I should tell her the truth. I wonder how that story ends…
Once again, Day 8 offers another quest from Vlad the Younger, because we are all about parallels. This time it is "Below the Ground" where Artemy is asked to retrieve the book detailing the kin's history from the tunnels which may or may not have been a setup given that the tunnels are closed directly once Artemy has entered them . While the book itself is not succesful, it makes Artemy wonder about the parallels between him and Vlad as Vlad himself is also apparently trying to unearth something - though he speaks of him with much more distance (So, Vlad the Younger has managed to reach beneath the ground as well. Is he trying to emulate what I am doing? He has found life down below, just like I have. [...]The ancient wisdom of the Kin was concealed there, locked away until the moment I unearthed it. I'm almost amused by the coincidence.)
Surrendering Vlad the Younger to his death to Taya in also, wonderfully, framed as Artemy taking his place among the kin:
Yes. Let Vlad the Younger die. Whoever makes a decision will be held responsible for it. With every passing day, I feel that the life of the Kin is my own life. I must protect it and avenge its suffering. Whatever fate had in store for these few thousand people, Vlad the Younger is directly responsible for their death.
No. Let Big Vlad die. I should inform Georgiy of my decision. I wouldn't describe Vlad the Heavy as a sentimental man. If he chose to die, he must have had good reason to. Or could it be that he thinks he deserves the punishment?
Surrendering Vlad to Taya matches with Artemy taking his own place - and Vlad the Younger is thus not punished for his fahter's sins but his own, meanwhile Artemy is about to take his father's place and heritage, trying to finish what Isidor created.
An honourable mention goes to the entry as to letting Taya kill Vlad the Older instead:
I am excited to find out more about this, if there is more - knowing this is Pathologic there is certainly more but it will not bring more clarity. But what is it for Artemy then, to be the one choosing it is time for the father to die and thus for Young Vlad to take on his heritage? It certainly is missing the poetry of the entry when choosing Vlad the Younger - but it makes it just as interesting.

I don't know why this came to mind before bed but TNA, bring back Wrestle House already. The first two were so fun and actually had people talking about how much they enjoyed it yet we haven't gotten another one. I feel Taya's presence would be missed but they still have such a fun roster. I feel like even someone like Nic Nemeth would have fun with the concept. Bring it back, please.

prompt: post game the bura family visits shekhen, maybe murky and taya are playing together?
i know this ask is uhmmmmm three years old at this point. and i've not totally followed the prmopt to the t, but all the same; here is where my brain took this prompt. with artemy trying to find peace with himself :)
ily bro<3 anyway!
----------
Shekhen starts to rebuild itself almost immediately. Taya’s influence, Artemy is sure. He sympathizes; after being stuck in place for so long, any kid would grow impatient. There’s not a lot in the way of toys out here, but there’s more space to run around, more people to play with - the Kin who had integrated into the town have started to navigate back. More kids Taya’s age. More talk, more food, more song.
Sticky is beyond curious, beyond excited to learn. All the walk over he has been bombarding Artemy with questions about the language and the culture he has only learned through rumor. Artemy does his best to answer, ashamed at how much he has forgotten in his time away. If Sticky notices the prolonged pauses, he doesn’t comment.
Murky hasn’t spoken in the time that they’ve been walking. Artemy has tried to check on her, concerned the new shoes don’t fit just right or that she’s shed them entirely to traverse the frozen ground barefoot. There’s nothing for him to worry over - the shoes remain, her expression unchanged. New environments are difficult for her.
"Would you like me to carry you the rest of the way?" Artemy offers. Her face scrunches up in distaste, shaking her head. Learning her boundaries has been difficult, and this venture out to Shekhen has Artemy worried about her. Sticky, he knows, will be fine. His curiosity outweighs his nerves, and Artemy doesn't doubt he'll make friends easily. Murky, though, has stayed closer than usual, reaching out as if to grab Artemy's smock and ask to slow down. She's been picking herbs as she walks, but her usual commentary is missing.
“Do you think they’ll like it?” is all she says to him, her expression severe. She’s collected about a dozen plants by now, her fingers shaky as she holds them up for Artemy to inspect. Artemy pauses, tongue wrapping around an admonishment (should have let us put gloves on you) before he swallows it down.
He doesn’t have the heart to tell her they have their own gardens at Shekhen. “It’s beautiful, Murky,” Artemy says. He smiles at her, but she isn’t looking. Her attention is drawn away by her desire to be done with the walking, little legs taking her farther and faster than they have over the past several minutes.
Now it’s Artemy who lingers behind.
When he told Stakh and Dankovsky he’d be away at Shekhen today, their responses had been… mixed. It was clear they were both attempting to be supportive by holding back on their true thoughts, and the result wasn’t nearly as encouraging as they must have thought it would be. Artemy couldn’t pretend to sympathize with their points of view. Understand them, certainly; they both acted as they thought they should, but that meant breaking the Law, and Artemy was tired of being pulled in different directions.
Maybe one day, they’ll understand. Maybe one day, Artemy can bring them out here and show them his community, his family, all he has left of his -
Artemy stops himself. Eyes closed, fingers curled tight into fists. He concentrates on breathing. Listens to the Earth.
He takes a step forward. And another. And another.
The scent of smoke and life greet him at the threshold of Shekhen. He only opens his eyes when the wave hits him, eyes darting around, trying to find something to focus on. It’s grown livelier over the past couple of months. Artemy can even hear laughter amid the buzz of herbs and lowing of bulls.
For a moment, Artemy is too tense to move. His arms shake from the weight of his nerves, eyes searching for his children. He spots Sticky’s mess of hair, untrimmed and ruffled by the wind, chatting with a teen a couple years his senior. He finds Murky, hand gripped tight by Taya’s confident fingers, weaving through the camp. They could get lost in here, melt into the collage and never resurface.
And that, Artemy remembers, is the point. This is community. This is family.
In his mind he hears his father’s voice, telling him, “Welcome home.”

Temptation Pt33
Temptation Masterlist
The snow has stuck. We are now at a clearing waiting for the Volturi. I stand next to Emmett who's got an arm around my waist. We stand next to Rose and Thomas
"If we live through this, I'll follow you anywhere woman" Garrett says to Kate
"Now you tell me"
"I love you Emmett" I place my hand on top of his hand that's around waist
"I love you too Kat" Emmett kisses my forehead. I then smell and hear the Volturi coming
"They're coming" I say aloud
"The red coats are coming. The red coats are coming" Garrett nervously says. In no time they arrive in their hundreds, they keep walking towards us, but leave somewhat of a distance between us
"Aros looking for Alice" I hear Edward say. Irina looks worried walking with the Volturi. I then hear the wolfs howl, they move to stand with us. Seth and Leah stand next to me and Emmett. Carlisle moves forward to speak
"Aro. Let us discuss things as we used to. In a civilised manner"
"Fair words Carlisle. But a little out of place given the battalion you've assembled against us"
"I can promise you that was never my intent. No laws have been broken"
"We see the child" Caius states "do not treat us as fools"
"She is not an immortal! these witnesses can attest to that. Or you can look. See the flush of human blood in her cheeks"
"Artifice!" Cauis shouts
"I will collect every facet of the truth, but from someone more central to the story. Edward, as the child clings to your newborn mate, I assume you are involved" Aro takes a step forward and holds out his hand for Edward to take.
Edward moves forward, Ness moves in between Jake and Bella as Aro looks at Edwards thoughts. Emmetts arm around me gets tighter
"I'd like to meet her" Edward looks back at Bella and Ness. Jake growls and they begin to move forward, but they stop to look back at me and Emmett. Emmett moves his arm from around me and walks towards Ness, Bella and Jake. Worry starts to creep in and I feel a hand take mine, Rose. She gives me a reassuring smile, which doesn't really help at all
"Ah young Bella. Immorality becomes you" (anyone else think of Ally from PLL "that's immortality my darlings" no just me.. ok). Aro laughs rather creepily "I can hear her strange heart" Aro holds his hand out
"Hello Aro" Ness places a hand on Aros face
"Magnifico. Half mortal half immortal. Conceived and carried by this newborn while she was still human"
"Impossible" Caius really wants a fight doesn't he?
"Do you think they fooled me brother?" Aro turns to face Caius. Edward, Bella and Ness turn around. Jake growls and snaps at the Volturi. Emmett quickly gets back to me, I hug him as tight as I can
"Bring the informer forward" Irina walks towards Caius and Aro "is that the child you saw?" Caius points at Ness
"I'm not sure"
"Jane"
"Shes changed. This child is bigger"
"Then your allegations were false"
"The Cullens are innocent. I take full responsibility for my mistake" Irina then looks at her sisters and whispers "I'm sorry"
"Caius no!" Edward shouts. Demetri and another member rip Irinas arms off and then Demetri rips her head off setting it on fire soon after. Kate, Tanya start to run forward screaming. Emmett and Eleazor hold Tanya back while Garrett holds Kate
"Blind them" Edward asks Zafrina
"Give me my sight back"
"Tanya. This is what they want. If you attack now we will all die" Taya sighs and the sisters give in.
"Pain" Jane says and Edward falls to the floor in pain. Bella manages to shield us all as I can see Edward getting up and Jane is looking round at all of us. I take Emmetts hand. Alec starts to use his gift, but Aro stops him
"Aro you see theres no law broken here"
"Agreed, but does it then follow that there is no danger" I then sense someone coming towards us. I look in the direction that I believe other vampires are going to emerge from... it's Alice. I smile as Aro continues his little speech "for the first time in our history, humans pose a threat to our kind. Their modern technology has given birth to weapons that could destroy us. Maintaining our secret has never been more imperative. In such perilous times, only the known is safe, only the known is tolerable and we know nothing of what this child will become. Can we live with such uncertainty? spare ourselves a fight today to end up dying tomorrow"
Alice and Jasper make their way cross the field towards Aro and the others. She gets there but is stopped by some vampires
"My dear dear Alice. We're so glad to see you here after all" Aro smiles
"I have evidence that the child won't be a risk to our kind. Let me show you" Alice holds out her hand and she's let through but Jasper isn't. Aro takes Alice's hand in his and I can feel something bad will happen if Aro choses to fight....

September 1st
First day of school! Nothing too interesting. They play those soviet hymns in the morning, which is good, I guess. Makes me feel like I didn't miss out on 16 years and USSR breaking up. Very loud and persistent, though. But i like it. Reminds of my pioneer days, and the summer camps.. Went to work out in the morning with Seva and Edik. Seva almost died from strain XD
Carrie got sick and stayed in her room all day. There were no lessions anyway, just games for the whole school.
When we sat in class for organization, that kazakh girl, Altyn, told me some rumors about Goar. Apparently, she's having issues with her fiancé. Useful information, I guess it's good to know someone *that* involved in gossip.
Teamed up with Sonya and his brother (?) for that. Technically, you're supposed to team up with your parents, but there was no way they'd show up. Guess I'm lucky Sonya's parents were also busy. Does he even have them? I bet he has like, 20 sibilings.
Made Azovka bring some candy from the games to Carrie. She better appreciate that.
September 2nd
First lessons today. Just math and russian, nothing much. Altyn got even more info today: apparently, Goar and her fiance from out of town had a falling out, and he asked for the proposal ring back, but she doesn't have it?
Seva got threatened by that asshole in our class. He's a friend of Seva's 'worst enemy', which is just some gopnik kid, Gleb. Seva used magic on him and they've been trying to avenge him since. That kid is crazy. Apparently he learned magic. Idk how, I just kinda do it, and he has some specific ass rituals to do it.
Mila caught a dust spirit and brought it to lunch. Kind of gross, this ball of dust in the middle of the cafeteria.
Carrie's still sick. Went to bring her some food after class, ran into Altyn again. She's pretty, but totally has nothing on her mind besides gossip.
When i went back to our dorm, Seva was screaming about some crazy shit. Turns out me, him and Edik had the same dream about a chained-up old lady for the last two days. One chain link breaking every night. Definitely weird, but Seva went paranoid with analyzing it. World ending and shit. Maybe we should look into that. 10 more chain links- something's going down on the 12th.
After Seva managed to chill he told us it's his birthday. Edik and I practically dragged him to a bakery to get a cake, brought Mila and Sonya with us. The bakery's run by Mila's aunt. Bought a whole carrot cake. Then we headed back to school, but that's a 30-minute walk across the whole city. So we run into Gleb's gang on our way back. What a coincidence! Gleb tried to threaten us, and Seva told him to fuck off. Nice. Before they tried to fight, I used my magic charms. Didn't work on Gleb, but worked on his girl. Then something weird happened. Gleb's friend punched him, and they got really crazy, so we just kinda ran away to not deal with them. Grabbed Gleb's girl while we were running. Her name's Taya. Stopped by the train station and ate cake there. Even Taya got a piece- we talked a little bit. Sonya traded some cake for beer from a homeless guy. We hung out until sundown. Beer's gross, but Taya was drinking it, so I did too...
I left the others to walk her home, cause it was getting late. I mean, I doubt she'd get into any trouble, she seems strong and like she doesn't take any shit. Very much a gopnik, but there's something about her... It's strange how a trashy girl that drinks beer and wears adidas tracksuits acts so shy when I compliment her. That's what it is. I kissed her on the cheek before she left. Don't know why. Seemed like a right thing to do.

I’ve finally had a chance to catch up with the national final winners from Saturday! Honestly, neither result really went my way. Firstly, Taya Dora won in Serbia and will represent them with Ramonda. She’s a fantastic singer, and I really liked the dark aesthetic of the staging, it’s a concept that’s very Eurovision-ready. The song also is unlike anything else we’ve got in the lineup this year, and I think it is a good song… I’m just not quite getting it yet. I want to like it, and maybe now I’ll have space to properly get familiar with it as its own song outside of PzE it will grow on me, but I had so many other songs I preferred in Serbia’s selection. I do think it’s a good choice for Serbia though, looking at the contest as a whole.
As for Iceland, while I like Hera Björk, I’m not keen on Scared of Heights as a song. It sounds to me like it could have been a B-side to her previous Eurovision entry, and it’s more ‘dated’ than ‘throwback’. I also found her performance a little lacking, I don’t know, I just needed more energy, either from her or her backing singers, or at least for the staging and lighting to be more dynamic. Her voice however is great, rich and powerful, she didn’t hold back on vocals! Even despite my delay getting my thoughts out, my understanding is that Iceland still haven’t confirmed if they’re going to Eurovision or not this year. If they do, I hope they rework the staging, bring a bit more ‘oomph’ to it to really highlight the positive energy of the song, but I feel this risks being a non-qualifier.

Syn & Abigail vs Taya Valkyrie & Johnny Mayhem
For the first time in MPW, we’re being blessed by the presence of Johnny Mayhem, known by many names over the years, and his wife, Taya Valkyire! With Valentine's day right around the corner, Johnny and Taya make their MPW Tag Team debut, against maybe MPW’s most notorious couple, responsible for sewing so much destruction and doubt throughout the company, everyone’s least favorite couple, Syn & Abigail.
As soon as the bell rings, though, Syn and Abigail both try to charge right at Taya and Johnny, and knock each of them through the ropes! Syn & Abigail with a not very warm welcome here to their opponents tonight, but as they follow them out of the ring, Taya and Johnny decide they’re not gonna stand for that, and start beating down Syn & Abby! Syn and Abigail though, both being adept and powerful strikers, hit right back, with Syn and Taya trading forearms, and Abigail and Johnny doing the same! We’ve broken down into a full on Valentine’s day brawl!
Taya and Johnny quickly find themselves overwhelmed and try to run for it, with Syn and Abigail not letting up! Syn starts catching Taya with a couple of clubbing blows to the back, as Taya tries to drive Syn into the ring apron, to no effect as Syn keeps laying into Taya! Abigail has Johnny against the steel guardrail, and starts laying into him with several chops to the chest! Abigail sends Johnny into the ringpost, bouncing his head off the steel, before she rolls into the ring for a brief second, rolling right back out to force Jake Clemons to restart his count. This time, Abigail goes right after Taya as Syn grabbed Johnny, who was trying to crawl away, by the hair, catching him with a couple of cross face shots as he held him down. Abigail rakes Taya’s eyes, before grabbing a handful of her hair, and bouncing the Wera Loca’s head off the guardrail! so far Syn and Abigail have complete control of this match!
Syn catches Johnny with a chop so hard it drops him, as Abigail is now putting the boots to Taya’s midsection against the guardrail. Syn grabs a handful of Johnny’s long brown locks and drags him along the outside of the ring, before driving Johnny’s head into the ring post again! Even without weapons, Syn had a way of using everything in the surrounding environment to his advantage! Syn catches Johnny with a boot to the back, right on the spine, as Johnny laid on the outside, before it’s his turn to roll in and back out of the ring to restart the count. As long as one of either Syn or Abigail stayed close enough to the ring to keep doing that, they could keep this outside brawling up all match, a style that vastly advantaged the two of them. Abigail continued to lay into Taya with a series of right hands, as over on the other side of the ring, Syn had Johnny’s head pressed up against the guardrail, and Syn was raking Johnny’s face across the bars! Johnny was already bleeding, whether it be from the repeated throws into the ring post, or he was opened up by the guardrail, but either way, The Fallen is getting everything they want here tonight!
Syn grabs Johnny into a headlock, and pushes Johnny’s hair back, displaying the cut on Johnny’s head that was currently leaking blood for the fans at home to see. “This the guy? This the guy they’re bringing in to fight me?!” Syn spoke right into the camera. “This the dude you thought would get the better of me?! Really?!” Syn then peppers Johnny with a couple of short punches to the forehead, opening up Johnny even further, before releasing him and blasting him with a chop to the chest. “Shania Twian sucks anyways.”
Johnny staggers away, and once again Syn rolls in and out of the ring, breaking Clemons count. Clemons almost looks resigned to it at this point, and even though he was told to strictly enforce the count tonight, it wasn’t doing anything to get Syn and Abigail to bring this one into the ring just yet. Maybe Clemons knew this all along, being the MPW Senior Official and all, and knew it would be a fools errand to try and get any sort of control in this one.
Abigail bounces Taya’s head off the ring apron, before leaving him, trying to get Syn’s attention for something. As Syn is still laying into Johnny, Abigail grabs his shoulder, and while the cameras can’t pick up their conversation very clearly, the way Abigail is gesturing, it seems like she’s trying to talk Syn into setting up some sort of double team move. Syn looks confused at first, and there’s definitely a breakdown in communication. Perhaps a bit of struggling after such a big loss to the Shield last sunday! The conversation took longer than it probably should have, as Syn turns around into a eye poke from Johnny Mayhem, and as Abigail tries to grab Taya, she grabs her and whips her right into the steel ringpost! Abigail’s head bounces off the steel, and she spills to the floor! Johnny grabs a handful of Syn’s hair, and drives him into the ring post as well!
Taya checks her own forehead, and notices she’s bleeding, before giving a stomp to The White Reaper, making sure she stays down, as Taya starts digging around underneath the ring. Back on the other side of the ring, Syn is trading right hands with Johnny, and actually looks to be getting the better of him, before Taya comes over and cracks a chair over Syn’s back! Syn drops down to his knees and clutches his back, having to use the apron just to keep his feet. Some payback for what Syn was doing to her husband! Taya starts laying into Syn with a couple of right hands, stunning him, before going and checking on her partner. Johnny was gushing blood, but was otherwise okay, on his feet, and ready to fight. Taya began digging around the ring, looking for more weapons in order to press Johnny and Taya’s advantage at the moment. Clemons count reaches nine, before Johnny slides into the ring and slides back out, restarting it. Why Clemons was even bothering at this point was probably both beyond him and us here watching, but you have to admire Referee’s Clemons' attempt. Johnny charges in and catches Syn with an axe handle to the back, and as Syn drops to a knee, Taya follows it up with a kick to the ribs! Johnny continues to beat down on Syn as Taya shouts at the booing crowd to shut their mouths. Both Taya and Johnny pick Syn back up, and the two of them together whip Syn into the steel ringpost, smashing Syn’s head against it and causing Syn to collapse to the floor! Syn might be out cold!
Abigail was back on her feet, and tried to go over and help, but Taya lifts her up and charges with her, using Abigail as a batting ram and driving her spine into the other ringpost! TTaya grabs Abigail and tosses her back into the ring, this match finally for the first time since the opening bell getting back into the ring. Johnny rolls in with her, as Taya goes to get on the apron, Johnny catching Abigail with a kick to the head. Johnny drops down and hooks the leg for the first cover of the match.
1…2… Kickout!
Abigail out at two. Abigail tries to crawl to her team’s corner, but Syn wasn’t up on the apron, still laying on the floor after the beatdown he received from Johnny’s pissed off wife. Abigail tried to shout down at him to get up, but Johnny puts a knee right in her back to silence her for the moment! Clemons yells at Johnny to get her off the ropes, and after a count of four, Johnny puts his hands up, trying to feign innocence. Johnny tries to go back at Abigail, but Abigail catches him with a shot in the gut, before getting back to her feet, catching Johnny with a series of right hands, before sending Johnny off the ropes, but Johnny turns it around on her, sends Abigail off the ropes, and then nails Abigail with a dropkick! Abigail is on wobbly legs after that one, but doesn’t go all the way down. Such a big, powerful competitor like Abigail, sometimes even your best strike isn’t enough to take her off her feet. It takes a second dropkick to knock Abigail down, and Johnny grabs her leg, the one with the knee brace on it, a frequent and perhaps sole weakness of Abigail’s, and drags her back over to his team’s corner, tagging in Taya Valkyrie. Taya puts her foot on the front of Abigail’s knee, and Johnny grabs the leg, snapping back with it, causing Abigail a great deal of pain to her bad knee! Abigail grits her teeth in agony, and clutches her bad leg, as Taya comes over and presses his knee down right across her throat, using the ropes for leverage!
Abigail once again tries to crawl for her empty corner, the camera panning down to Syn, who had just barely started to move on the outside, the Poisoned Prince now also leaking blood from his forehead. Taya catches Abigail with an elbow to the back of the head, keeping her grounded for the time being. Taya lifts Abigail up, and tries to lift her up for a Suplex, but Abigail blocks it, before rolling Taya into a small package! Shoulders are down, Syn and Abigail could steal it here!
1….2… Kickout!
Taya manages to kick out, and immediately gets back to her feet, dropping Abigail with a clothesline! Abigail and Syn were big, but Taya was a powerhouse in her own right, and boy did she hit like one. Taya grabs Abigail’s bad leg, holding it up, before dropping an elbow down onto it, causing Abigail even more agony. Taya then began to twist the leg, trying to cause Abigail even more pain, and maybe convince her to tap out. While that wasn’t likely, it was clear Taya and Johnny had done their homework for tonight, and knew how to pick Syn and Abigail apart. Taya continued to wrench back on Abigail’s leg, putting her in even more pain, and looking to make it so that Abigail couldn’t stand on that leg. If you can’t stand, you can’t fight, it doesn’t matter who you are. Abigail reaches up and starts digging her nails into Taya’s face, digging her claws in until Taya lets her go, but before she can do anything else, Taya makes the tag to Johnny. Taya and Johnny each grab a leg, before wishboning Abigail, causing her to sit up in agony. Johnny shoves her back down to the mat, and makes another cover!
1….2… Kickout!
Abigail out at two again, Syn finally back on the apron as Johnny traps Abigail into a headlock. Abigail fights back to her feet and starts catching Johnny with a couple of stiff elbows to the sternum, forcing Johnny off of her, before Abigail sends Johnny into the ropes, and catches him on the rebound, planting Johnny with Wrath of the Gods! Abigail into the cover!
1…2… Broken up!
Taya Valkyrie charges into the ring and drops an elbow down across the back of Abigail’s neck, breaking the pin up! Taya catches Abigail with a couple of boots to the head, ignoring referee Jake Clemons, before he tosses Abigail aside, and drags Johnny back to his team’s corner, tagging himself in, before getting back into the ring, and laying into Abigail in the corner with a couple of boots to the midsection. Suddenly, though, noticing Syn had finally got back on the apron awakened something in Abigail, as she began hammering away at Taya with a couple of stiff right hands, before Abigail CRUSHES Taya with a Big Boot! Taya sits up from the impact, and there’s a far, far away look in her eyes, as he slowly falls to his back. There’s a good chance if you asked him right now, Taya has no idea we’re in Akron. Abigail begins crawling for her corner, and, perhaps as a shock to many, Syn’s actually reaching out his hand, looking for a tag! Abigail gets to her corner, and makes the tag, Syn is legal! Johnny gets the tag from Taya and charges into the ring and tries to cut Syn off, only to get LEVELED by a lariat from the Poisoned Prince! Syn watches as Taya gets to her feet, and drops her with a lariat as well, before Syn sees Johnny trying to get up in the corner, charging in, and crashing into Johnny with a Stinger Splash! Syn lifts Johnny up onto his shoulders, and, turning to see Taya still down, Syn drops Johnny onto Taya with a Death Valley Driver! Syn then grabs Johnny, and tosses him into the corner, before whipping Taya into him, inadvertently causing Taya to Cannonball her own partner! Syn decides to head up top!
Syn sets his feet on the top rope, before measuring, leaping off, and crashing down on both Taya and Johnny with a Front Flip Van Terminator! Syn drags them both out of the corner, and goes over to his corner, tagging in Abigail, as both of them get up to their feet and shitcan Taya Valkyrie out of the ring, before grabbing Johnny Mayhem, lifting him up, and planting him with Farewell, Mona Lisa! Goodnight, Johnny Mayhem! Abigail & Syn both lay across Johnny for the cover, sharing a kiss as Clemons counts three!
1….2….3!

Taya, Between Today
She could feel the curtain slide closed behind her. Not soft like a curtain should but firmly like a sturdy door. She looked behind her to make certain it did close. No one needs to deal with a Gumberoo or worse. Before her was a long hallway. Impossibly long really. There should be nothing much beyond the curtain but wall and then street. There was just hallway. It was not lit. But her eyes were made for the dim light of hidden places. Taking fives steps forward then turning slightly to her left and taking five more steps she came to a doorway. Tay knocked softly and hoped that the guard was on the other side. It would suck if she had to stand here long with this pile of books. Time stretched and she sat down the box and took out the book String had ordered for her. She cracked the spine and dove in. She was on the third chapter when the door opened. "Taya Of the Hill Folk, you know you are not to bring back undeclared items. I cannot let you through until you declare." Startled by the guard, she thought this one was called Horner, she slowly closed the book and stood. She then picked up the box and cleared her throat. "I, Taya of the Hill FOlk, Declare this box of books from the human folk to be mine and mine alone. I declare this collection of herbs and teas to be for the GrandMar and they alone. All other straggling things are on their own." She said loudly and firmly. Horner nodded and swung the door open wider. Crossing over the threshold Tay felt the world tilt and become her world. The colors deepened and the light became something more of an ambient glow. The light was so similiar to the light of a rainy fall Seattle morning and yet so different. In Seattle the light came from the sky, here it just was. This doorway as at the back of the Day Market of the West. That was the thing about the paths. They came and went to similar places in their worlds. If Tay waited she could have gone to the Night Market. But that was not where she was needed. Thanking Horner she picked up her box and headed into the chaos of a fae market. Her first stop was for chestnuts. She was starving. They weren't as tasty as the steam buns but they did the job. Next up was to find GrandMars tent. Which was always near the center and always lit like a small city. Today the top of the lime green and pale blue tend was topped with a weather vane that reminded Tay of a skyscraper. Which probably meant he knew she was coming. Good. She wanted this over with. If he were to prolong her exile, she wanted to take her books and go back as soon as possible.
The front of the tent was open. Folk milled about waiting for their turn to enter and have audience with GrandMar, the defacto mayor of both Day and Night Markets of the West, and of the Western Edge folk. Here he settled disputes or created them, set rules and guidelines and just generally made things work. Mostly. Most regular folk never got an audience with him. No one ever really wanted an audience with him. As Tay approached the guards saw her and crossed their absurdly long spears (all show and zero function) to prevent her entry. "Halt human, you have no place here" Tay straightened her back and carefully set the box down. She dropped her glamour and the guards dropped their comical spears. "I am Taya of the Hill Folk and I have been summoned by the GrandMar. To deny me entry is to deny his wishes." The guards slid to the side and bowed deeply. Taya walked past them and entered GrandMars tent. Inside was vast. One huge circular room with a raised circular dias in the center. On the dais was a throne. Or what the GrandMar treated as a throne. The truth was, as most things were, much more complicated Taya approached the dais. "Grandmar of the Western Folk, I, Taya of the Hill Folk am here at your request. I have returned from the exile you sent me to. I do not come of my own accord." She spoke loudly making sure the whole of the tent heard here. GrandMar turned his attention to her and smiled. He looked like little more than a fishmonger. Long stringy grey hair, that framed the wizened face of an old man. But GrandMar was not old, not a fishmonger. He was a powerful and dangerous fae lord. Who had the power to control much of the lives of the fae he ruled over. Today, for the first time in a long time that included Taya.

What's your dream champions for each promotion you watch?
I do watch other promotions here and there but I'm just gonna stick to Impact, AEW and ROH
Impact World Championship: Maclin. I'd love Josh eventually become champion again when he is healthy but I thought Maclin was the perfect person to dethrone Josh and I feel like he will become champion, just not in the way once believed.
Impact X Division Championship: Mike Bailey. Just can't say enough wonderful things about his first reign. Him against Gresham for the Championship would be god tier.
Impact Digital Media Championship: Leave it on Hendry. He is the perfect person for that championship right now.
Impact World Tag Team Championship: Leave it on Ace and Bey. They are just getting started and they are having such a fun reign already.
Impact Knockouts World Championship: Gisele Shaw. She is so talented and imagine her against Deonna for the Knockouts Championship, that would also be god tier, I really believe she is ready to take that next step.
Impact Knockouts World Tag Team Championship: The Coven just got it and honestly looking forward to seeing more of them. Death Dollz will always own my heart tho.
AEW World Championship: Basically feels impossible but I really want Uno as World Champion. He is amazing and I feel like we've only scratched the surface of what he can do in AEW.
AEW International Championship: Realistically this is the championship I've been hoping Uno can get a reign with as I don't trust TK to let Uno become World Heavyweight Champion but this is my dream and with Uno on top of the company, Kip Sabian would be perfect for the International Championship.
AEW TNT Championship: Keith Lee. There isn't really much to say other than it would be nice to see him with a championship.
FTW Championship: Leave it on Hook, you can't really take it off him, he is the perfect for the championship.
AEW World Tag Team Championship: John Silver and Alex Reynolds. I hope they get a run with championships someday soon, it's not that unrealistic.
AEW World Trios Championship: Dark Order. Would love to see them finally win the Trios Championship and use the Freebirds rule so all of them can defend the championships.
AEW Women's World Championship: The Bunny. Bun Bun has been there from the beginning and really deserves a championship run someday.
AEW TBS Championship: Taya Valkyrie. I feel like this might be the most realistic out of all the ones I've mentioned on the AEW side, go Tay Tay.
ROH World Championship: Stu Grayson. Imagine Uno as AEW World Heavyweight Champion and Stu as ROH World Heavyweight Champion 🥹
ROH World Television Championship: Eddie Kingston. Would love to see him with a championship, he deserves it so much.
ROH Pure Championship: Angelico. He is so underrated, would be awesome to see him with a championship.
ROH World Tag Team Championship: Top Flight. I don't mind any of the teams in the Reach For The Sky ladder match but they are the future and it would be a great start for them.
ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship: Adam Cole and The Kingdom. Adam on ROH would bring eyes to ROH which is really needed and be cool to see him back with The Kingdom.
ROH Women's World Championship: Leave it on Athena, she is amazing and deserves a lengthy run with it.

On the next one Wardlow vs Christian Cage in a ladder match for the TNT title. Wardlow in control but Cage takes over bringing a ladder and table into play he has took over completely stopping Wardlow sending him crashing into the ladder. Wardlow is back up as both men climb ,out comes Luchasaurs,Christian hits a killswitch off the ladder and then goes for a spear. Wardlow goes for a senton but misses,Luchasaurs tries to take out Arn Anderson. Wardlow then puts Luchasaurs on a table,he climbs a ladder and hits a senton off it. Arn is busted open,Wardlow then powerbombs Christian, climbs the ladder and takes down the title. Im a little shocked here because its a hot potato title.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next up is House of Black vs Billy Gunn and The Acclaimed in an open house match for the trios tag titles. This was definitely a unique match, certainly different. My 1st look at a match like this, back and forth they go with multiple tags, this was an OK match with in and out tags. Billy Gunn tags in giving out fame-ass-ers. House of Black claim victory with a win ovet Billy, they walk out still champions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next Jade Cargill vs Taya Valkyrie for the TBS title. Taya stays on Jade and goes right after her but Jade came back in it looking for the pin and then submission. Taya hits her finisher to no avail but Jade hits her and takes the dub to retain. Smart Mark Sterling grabs the mic and says no one is left, out comes Kris Statlander she's back and goes on to beat Jade ending the 500 days 60-0 streak.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another match and its Jamie Hayter vs Toni Storm for the AEW women's title. Rumours are Jamie is injured and it looks like uts true as Ruby Soho and Saraya attack Jamie beating her down. The match starts and Jamie tries to stay in it,out comes Britt Baker again and then Hikaru Shida but ultimately it was Toni becoming a 2 time champion.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And next it shall be MJF vs Darby vs Jungle Boy vs Sammy Guevara in a fatal four way match for the AEW title. Sammy and his wife are having a baby ok then. All 4 men looking good and all going at it. MJF asks Sammy to lay down but instead Sammy rolls up MJF to no avail they then fight. All 4 men in now with a submission. Canadian destroyer from all men,Darby and Sammy up to the top rope, MJF looked to use the title and tgen brass knux as a weapon,Darby then uses his skateboard followed by the coffin drop. All 4 men are in and MJF with a hip toss on Darby the pinfall and MJF walks out still as champion.

MLW Fusion 157 Review/Recap
In the words of Brodie Lee, it’s Friday (well, here in Australia it is), and you know what that means. Time for our first MLW Fusion review on the day it drops. After being caught up on MLW, I’ve been excited for the next episode, I just hope it’s better than the last one. As always, to check out my previous reviews, be sure to check out the tags.
We get a recap of EJ Nduka vying for the title to start. In terms of new stuff, Taya comes down to commentary, because first up is the 4 way luchadora elimination match. There are some vuvuzelas and lots of fans in the crowd with lucha masks and mexican flags, so I guess we’re bringing that AAA flavour.
Surprisingly, they do entrances for all 4 women in this match. I say surprisingly because if you’ve read my blog in the past, you know I think time management is MLW’s biggest problem. La Hiedra comes down with a title – commentary doesn’t address it, but I’m pretty sure it’s the RGR Women’s title. She’s also the EMW Women’s champ, but one of her belts isn’t here and the logo looked like the RGR one, so I’m guessing it’s that one. A bit odd since I haven’t heard of that promotion so I assume it isn’t that major, but alright.
Hugo from AAA is the ref. They all have a bit of a standoff, but Shani and Hiedra try to hit Flammer, but she dodges. Flammer tries to get the pin on Dorada, but fails. Dorada armdrags both Shani and Hiedra. Huricanrana from Flammer, who then faces off against Hiedra as the other two are on the outside.
Apparently these two are both in a faction in AAA, but here they trade blows – and a kiss! After that, they get rolled up by the other two for a two count. Double Huricanrana on those stablemates, and their foes do a stereo dive.
Ad break, when we’re back its Shani and Hiedra. Hiedra gets a submission, but Dorada breaks it up. Dorada hits Hiedra with some moves, but Flammer breaks it up. Flammer hits a move and pin on Dorada, but Shani breaks it up. Shani then goes for a submission on Flammer, but Hiedra breaks it up.
Hiedra and Shani get in a row, but the other 2 ladies come in to get some hits on them. Flammer gets a pin on Shani, broken up by Hiedra. Shani and Hiedra then go for separate submissions on the two ladies. They then all kick each other, falling down.
They then trade chops. Hiedra and Dorada go for submissions, both a muta lock, but both break their holds. Dorada and Flammer trade inside cradles, then some strikes and a double crossbody. Hiedra goes for a legdrop on Dorada and Shani with a kick to Flammer. Shani and Hiedra then hit an avalanche suplex on Dorada but are downed, so Flammer hits a splash and gets the win.
This was billed as an eliminator match, but no one was eliminated. I guess they meant it in the same way as AEW title eliminator matches, but those are matches with the champion. It wasn’t a bad match, but it felt like some spots were meant to be stereo but were slightly off. It wasn’t as good as I hoped, but serviceable. If nothing else I’m glad MLW gets to show off AAA talent other than the ones we normally see represented on AEW.
--
We then get a segment Jacob Fatu and the Samoan Swat Team. They’re at a hotel pool. Juicy rips off his shirt. They hype each other up to get titles – Lance and Juicy for the tag titles, Jacob for the world title.
We then see EJ in the parking lot. An interviewer asks why he attacked Hammerstone. Apparently EJ was waiting for a title shot, but Hammerstone kept blowing him off. He says he is “Himmy Neutron” and “Himi Hendrix”. Alright then.
Mance gets another segment. He’s out by some trash cans and is on a phone. He says he’s on the phone with Mads, and again claims he’s Doc Gallows. A plane interrupts Mance again. We get a replay on the video with Shun Skywalker again. However, Myron has a reply, accepting the challenge.
We then cut to the back. Killer Kross has been attacked! It must be the card guy, but we don’t get to see. We then see Alex Kane in a parking lot. He taunts Davey, saying he doesn’t have the Opera Cup – he does! Kross is then put in an ambulance and yep, there was a card near him.
--
We then get a message saying Davey Boy Jr is coming back to MLW. Well, already its time for our main event. Bandido vs Hammerstone. Hopefully Hammerstone gives us a better performance than last week. He is facing Bandido, so I have high hopes.
Hammerstone whips Bandido into the corner. He charges, gets a big boot and an uppercut from Bandido, with a tornillo for a two count. Then a big right hand to Hammerstone. Now on the outside, Bandido throws Hammerstone into the barricade. Bandido gets him back in the ring for a two.
Bandido then works Hammerstones left arm some – hammerstone tries to toss him, but Bandido rolls through. He charges at Bandido, another miss, but he manages to get two german release suplxes on Bandido and slams him.
Bandido manages to hit a michinoku driver on Hammerstone for a two count. He then goes for a huricanrana – Hammerstone catches him and hits him with a back elbow. He then does a sort of airplane spin/slam combination for a two count.
Ad break. When we’re back, Hammerstone goes for something on Bandido, but he slips through and slams Hammerstone, then hitting him with a boston crab. Hammerstone does a sunset flip for a two. Hammerstone goes for something, but Bandido tosses him up and hits a cutter for a two. It’s a little sloppy, but still looks alright.
They then get in a strike fest. Bandido hits the ropes but gets kicked, though he gets a victory roll for a two count. Hammerstone hits a GTS and a burning hammer. I know if its not your move you don’t have to protect it, but to hit two finishers of legends (one of which was only used 7 times by the guy as an ultra finisher) and not win, that’s a bit disrespectful. Sure, Punk doesn’t deserve a lot of respect now, but still.
They then fight for position, and Bandido hits a vertical suplex, and goes for 2 more. Then, top rope for the Eddie shimmy and frog splash, of course, but only a two count. Bandido then hits the 21plex.
They’re on the outside for a bit, but they get back on the inside and trade cradles. Hammerstone transitions one by picking Bandido up with 1 arm and slamming him. That gives him the win. It was better than his match last episode. Granted, a lot of my enjoyment came from Bandido, but that’s no hate on Hammerstone, he was better here than last episode and when I saw him live.
Focusing on his strength made him look better. He should really focus on being a power guy, at least in my opinion, because that’s where he shines. I mentioned my disgruntlement with the GTS + Burning Hammer spot, I’d like to see less of that, but it wasn’t a huge element in the match, so I’m not too mad.
Bandido says some thanks and sings a song. I don’t speak Spanish so I can only assume its a song of thanks in some way.
--
Surprisingly, that’s the end of this episode. I thought EJ might come out and attack Hammerstone or something. Well, next week we get EJ Nduka in a match, as well as the Samoan Swat Team vs a team from IWA Puerto Rico. The main event will be Myron Reed vs Shun Skywalker. Man, if Shun is any bit as good as La Estrella, I look forward to that.
Oh, nevermind, there’s a bit afterwards where EJ DOES attack Hammerstone. Alright. Oh, there’s another calling card attack in the back? Cesar walks down to discover it, there’s multiple bodies all laid down a staircase.
--
Well, with another episode out of the way, time for a rundown of my thoughts. I think most if not all recaps are a waste of time as let’s be real, it’s highly unlikely anyone who tunes into MLW is doing it for the first time, and we live in the age of the internet, we can google stuff. Plus, the commentators can probably explain most storylines. I’m mostly just opposed to the recaps because we only get an hour each week, which isn’t a lot. That’s one of the things NWA is actually good with, even though they have an even more stringent time limit.
The first match went on a bit too long in my opinion. It wasn’t terribly long, but it started to drag a bit, and was the only other match on this show. Like I said, I am glad they got to showcase AAA talents to a western audience that normally don’t get that spotlight, but I’d personally have preferred 2 shorter matches.
EJ isn’t a great promo, but he did well enough. I don’t really know a lot about Jacob Fatu despite him being a title contender and main eventer here. In the first episode I saw, I thought he had decent presence, but he hasn’t really done a lot on these past few episodes. The segment he was in today didn’t really tell me a lot about him as a new viewer.
More Mance is always good, I don’t mind him being on every show. Bomaye Fight Club don’t really need to cut long promos, they can just chant Bomaye and it works good enough for me. I don’t know how long they’ve been running the loss of the Opera Cup angle, but if it was only in the shows I saw, that was resolved fast. The resolution makes sense, though, and I definitely want to see those two square off again.
I’m intrigued with the mystery attacker angle – again, I’m not reading taping spoilers, so unless I see it against my will, I’m going in blind. I hope this has a good payoff, but I just don’t see how it could be. Who could be powerful enough to take out Kross and a staircase full of people that MLW could afford?
Bandido is good as always, but I doubt we’ll see more of him since Court doesn’t play nice with AEW. I made my thoughts on Hammerstone clear. Decent enough episode, better than last week. Again, MLW Fusion is a pretty decent show to keep up with if you have a spare hour a week. I’ll see you next time, very likely with my truncated recap of NWA Powerrr and USA.
