Wrath (The Love is Cure, Vol. 1 Vices & Virtues Book 6)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wrath (The Love is Cure, Vol. 1 Vices & Virtues book 6) by Brookelyn Mosley is about Lauryn James and Asher Truesdale. At a young age Lauryn experienced something so traumatic she has a difficult time sleeping, so she spends her nights waitressing in a New York strip club. She loathes men something serious and her work environment does nothing but add fuel to fire. When man get handsy with her she gets handsy with them (and I mean that in no way sexual). Lauryn is rightfully filled with raged, she’s closed off to the world so it can’t hurt her. Asher had a different upbringing than Lauryn. He grew up in the Hamptons with an overbearing mother and a present yet absentee father. he’s just come back to New York after living in Bali for a year, trying to find himself. His new apartment is in the same building as Lauryn’s and from the moment they meet eyes a spark is lit. I love that even as a counselling psychology student Asher never tries to shrink Lauryn. He uses his learnings to inform how he approaches Lauryn and that means everything! Asher is genuine and kind. The dates he plans are intentional, it’s obvious that he’s cultivating a relationship that allows Lauryn the space to be soft. Lauryn’s aunt Evelyn is a godsend. The relationship Evelyn and Lauryn have is beautiful, i’m glad that Lauryn had someone she could trust when she’d closed herself off to the world. You could see the depts she went through to protect Lauryn. Plus I love Sunday dinners! The way the story unravels feels authentic and realistic. So many important conversations were had and of course therapy with Dr. Liz Peters is phenomenal. There's discussions of traumatic themes yet I was still left with a warm fuzzy feeling. The balance of the light and dark, heavy emotion and elation was perfect to me. Asher and Lauryn are the two sweetest hearts 🥰 Awww this has been a lovely experience! My fav trope is present so you know I'm over the MOON! This series has been such a delight to read, I can't believe we have 1 more vice left.
P.s. The bonus epilogue was the cherry on top!
P.s.s. Btw Asher is cousins with Summer (read PRIDE book 1, if you haven’t already). If you thought Summer’s mom was bad you have to meet Patricia Truesdale. That lady takes the cake and the way she oversteps boundaries no wonder Asher ran off to Bali.
Cw~ kidnapping and sexual assault survivor. Mentions of suicidal thoughts and abortion.

In Love, I Trust
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Love, I Trust by Brookelyn Mosley is about African & Caribbean fusion bistro owner Serenity Payne and acquisitions analyst Trevon “Trey” Everest. When Trey was first introduced in the Brookelyn Mosley universe in “When Luke Met Juliette”, he’s the best friend happily in love that gives solid advice. I was so happy when Brookelyn said we’d be getting his love story and she did not disappoint! These two meet in such an unconventional way 😂 from the comment section to the DM! I love it, made me wonder if I need be in the comments section having heated debates. This story is the perfect example of love can find you in the most unexpected ways. I mean when these two start talking neither one is looking for love. Serenity almost blocks her blessing but he’s too fine literally 😭 Serenity and Trey’s natural chemistry, banter and friendship leap off the page. The only roadblock is Serenity’s fear of love, whew! I completely understand where Serenity is coming from, with her father’s infidelity which lead to her parents divorce and her dad abandoning her. Of course, she’s guarded! Serenity may live in Rose Hill but she’s certainly not wearing any rose-coloured glasses. Poor Trey has his work cut out for him but she’s worth it. Although Brookelyn did an amazing job taking us through the phases of their relationship, past & present, from their different perspectives I still wanted to spend more time with these two. Their first argument as a couple, honest and raw, I felt like I was in the room. The communication afterwards, come on healthy relationship 👏🏽 I hope we see them again in the future. As always it was a pleasure seeing New York through Brookelyn’s lens.
P.s. I hope we see Kelli again and revisit Rose Hill!
P.p.s. I’m trying to head to Bellyful and eat my belly full! *whispers* Brookelyn Serenity is part Jamaican right? 👀
P.p.p.s. Shoutout to Serenity’s mom.

When Life Gives You Sunsets (The Energy #2)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Life Gives You Sunsets (Energy #2) by Brookelyn Mosley is about paralegal Clarke Ali and wedding photographer Yusuf Baldwin. Clarke and Yusuf both booked themselves on a singles trip to Maui for two very different reasons. Clark is a discourage, single looking for a relaxing vacation and Yusuf is a grieving widower following his wife’s last wishes. They meet on the plane. Everything is going well until it isn’t. You can really feel Yusuf’s grief my heart aches for him. He tries so hard to fight his interest in Clarke which is a difficult task because they have natural chemistry. For Yusuf it’s the first person since his wife’s passing he’s felt connected and attracted to. For Clarke it’s a first time feeling so connected to someone that’s actually a decent human being. Too bad the timing isn’t great (I mean the circumstance really isn’t it), but the energy sure was! Yusuf thinks he isn’t ready to move on, but his actions say different (and his body too 🫦 Lawd!) The moments they are able to break away from the group and do excursions on their own, it’s giving romantic getaway! Sorry Yusuf, you unknowingly have us falling in love 🥰. Poor Clarke doesn’t stand a chance! She’s put in such a tough position, I really felt for her. Yusuf and Clarke are so vulnerable with each other, they open up to each other in a way they haven’t been able to recently. It’s no wonder that what’s supposed to be a heartbreaking trip turns into so much more. The epilogue was really cute and insightful. You got to see the characters progress in their relationship past the island which I appreciate. This is a really great series, I hope we see Clarke’s best friend Esmé find love (perhaps with someone’s daddy 👀).
P.s. I enjoyed seeing Luke and Juliette again, those two are amazing.
CW~ mentions death of a spouse, grief, mentions infidelity

When Luke Met Juliette (The Energy #1)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Luke Met Juliette by Brookelyn Mosley is about mens basketball head coach at Langston U Luke Lockett and For the Culture Magazine journalist Juliette Hart. Luke and Juliette meet for the first time in 2008, it’s a brief but memorable. The next time they meet it’s something special, two rivals, a flat tire, an old motel with one bed create an unforgettable night. But sometimes you meet the right person but it isn’t the right time. Years later, they’ve gone on to live their separate lives but fate intervenes again. Despite her dislike for Luke, Juliette takes this interview with him at the urging of her mentor Mykal. Loved seeing my girl Mykal again! It was like night and day!! I can see her continued growth from Envy. Let’s just say when they meet again for the first time in 13 years it does not go well but that’s expected after the way things were left between them. Someone was being a jerk and it wasn’t Juliette! I really enjoyed this story, the flashbacks really help set the scene! You understand exactly why Luke and Juliette behave the way they do towards each other. The honesty in the dialogue between them is raw and real, you know these two are grown and have matured, especially Luke! The rival chemistry is everything like you see on TV leading up to a kiss!! Chef’s kiss 🥰  Fate is working overtime in this story!! You can always count on February! I honestly wanted to spend more time with Luke and Juliette! I hope I see them again in some capacity in the Brookelyn Mosley universe! 🤞🏽
P.s. I need to know what’s up with Juliette cousin. And why she’s so flaky!!

Gluttony (The Love is Cure, Vol. 1 Vices & Virtues book 5)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gluttony (The Love is Cure, Vol. 1 Vices & Virtues book 5) by Brookelyn Mosley is about retired boxer Everett Peters and fitness trainer Apryl Wilde. After a devastating blow by his girlfriend, Everett spirals off the deep end by binge eating his feelings away.  A comforting call from his psychotherapist mother and a community opportunity encourages him to return to his hometown Brooklyn. His eagerness to return to top form leads him to an exclusive gym where he meets Apryl. Apryl and Everett have an instant attraction, but Everett isn’t looking for a relationship. As fate would have it, it’s up to Apryl to train Everett which he’s not very receptive to. But baby is the tension thick whew! They had some training foreplay 🫦 Apryl has to use an unorthodox method to get Everett in shape but in doing so they get to know one another and let their guards down. Everett is nasty in the best way possible. The way he loves to indulge in Apryl 💦 Keep in mind although these two get down and dirty this book is a slow burn. I love the positive parenting Apryl and Everett experience even though they are both characters in their 30’s. I think it’s important to represent Black parents listening to and supporting their adult children. The growth both characters underwent is beautiful. Even though Apryl wasn’t the one with the vice she learned a lot and grew. I will say that my chest ached at certain parts, Everett you know what you did 🥺. Brookelyn Mosley did it again! If you haven’t started this series yet you’re missing out!
P.s. I can’t wait to read Everett’s younger sister Eryn’s story!
CW~ mentions child death, eating disorder & binge eating

Home Before Midnight
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Home Before Midnight by Brooklyn Mosley is about Eva and Jaleel Gordon who we previously met in Home for Christmas  but luckily their marriage is no longer on the rocks. Jaleel has done a great job of prioritizing his wife, their time together and their traditions. That’s why he refuses to miss their traditional New Years countdown kiss! But that doesn’t come without it’s own set of obstacles. However, as usual Jaleel Jr. is a boy with a plan! This was a fantastic update on the Gordon’s, it’s really important to see the growth of a couple after a marriage in distress! If you’re looking for a New Years short, look no further!
P.s. It was great to see my guy BG again 😍 If you haven’t read the Love and Lust series yet, get into it!

So This Is Love (The Forbidden #5)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So This Is Love (The Forbidden #5) by Brookelyn Mosley is about journalism student Ayanna Dale and chemistry student/star basketball player Dallas Roque. If you’ve read the forbidden anthology you know the beginning of their story is messy. Ayanna is dating Dallas’ trifling older brother Dominick when she becomes fed up of his infidelity and blatant disrespect. In her anger she decides to get on her get back ish! With a little nudging and rubbing Dallas happily goes along! After the deed is done it can’t be undone. Dallas and Ayanna have been good friends for 3 years. When you add amazing to sex to an already great friendship, you can only fight it for so long! I love Dallas, he is such a sweetheart 🥰 For a young guy on his way to being a professional athlete he has his head screwed on right! He knows what he wants and doesn’t play bout it! Dallas is open and honest about his feelings even when he knows he might not get the response he’s looking for. Ayanna is a bit different, she’s worried about how things went down, she’s worried about what other people might think, she’s worried about the career path and the list goes on!! She made her bed and then didn’t want to lay in it! And let me tell you, it’s a pretty great bed to lay in 😌 I like Ayanna’s character, she just frustrates me at times! Dallas has the patience of a saint! He treats Ayanna right ALL of the time, he doesn’t play games, he never allows anyone to disrespect her or call her out of her name!! He just wants HER, he love him some Yaya! This was an amazing read, sometimes the forbidden fruit is the sweetest 🥰  The interconnection of the Brookelyn Mosley universe is everything! And of course I love being in New York!
