please tell me the otto and reinhard rare pair analysis

HAH thank you for asking because your ask is finally pushing me to finish that analysis �� ok lets get into it… this is. a very long analysis!!

so firstly—the suwens and astreas have briefly crossed paths before. i cant 100% go into detail because i still havent finished the wilhelm and theresia centric ex novels, but rezero wiki says this about ottos grandfather (yaktol):

theres also the fact that the suwens’ hometown is picoutatte, which is historically where stride vollachia caused A Shit Ton of chaos that the astreas and wilhelm had to fight back against. wilhelm and kurgan (someone close to stride) dueled there, and then theres the fact that stride not too long after that summons a dragon in picoutatte using the sacrifices of twenty Divine Protection holders T^T on top of causing a shit ton of other deaths as well!! so like—yes suwens and astreas have kind of sort of briefly crossed paths apart from the suwens definitely knowing the astreas because the astreas are Famous.

ok now moving on to otto and reinhard specifically—they parallel in a lot of ways, and the first way is their families. the suwens are an established and decently well known merchant family based in picoutatte, known as the commercial city. the astreas, of course, are well known for the sword saint line and are very much a warrior family. the roles and career paths otto and reinhard go down follow in their family’s footsteps Exactly, but of course the key difference is that otto has a loving family.

the thing with ottos divine protection is that it wouldve been Extremely easy for him to go insane with it, and iirc there Have been other people than otto to get his divine protection and then Go Insane, so theres a sense that otto turning out mostly alright is a Rarity. and i think that makes sense, because a dp where your senses are Constantly Overwhelmed from birth because of all the constant noise from animals? like otto is right in saying thats literal hell. and thats not to mention that sometimes animals and nature are Brutal, so little kid otto is taking in All of this. but i think otto in large part turned out alright because of his family. they were patient and loving with him and his parents took him to every doctor they could in order to figure out what was bothering otto. his older brother oslo eventually taught him to read and write and Communicate and like—i think its SO telling that oslo and oslo and otto’s parents START CRYING when otto starts communicating by writing down “thank you for everything” to them. like they care for otto and this is such a Huge Milestone on top of those sweet words after otto hasnt been able to respond to any of them, so Of Course the other suwens get emotional. and in general otto being Plagued with bad luck and getting into All Sorts of Trouble, including being chased out of his own hometown by assassins, is like. the suwens are again patient and loving with otto and try to help him out the best they can (such as when they got him merchant connections after he left his hometown so he could be a traveling merchant). theres also frufoo, ottos ground dragon (whos BASICALLY family to him, given how much she acts like a grandma and how close they are), who was most likely acquired by ottos family since iirc ottos known her since he was a kid!! and then otto also Chooses to become a merchant like most of his family. ottos younger brother regin becomes a vet (which is a decision inspired by otto because regin grew to love animals because of otto!!), so otto Really was not required to become a merchant. but he chose to Anyway because thats his passion and thats where his skills lie in.

and in regards to reinhard, well. ok we all know how awful his family gets towards him, but similar to otto—reinhard is born with divine protections. Many of them. and they all affect how he sees and experiences the world, similar to otto, but to a more Extreme extent in ways different to otto. like reinhard in that sense Isnt unlucky like otto is. i mean ottos luck had him in situations like nearly drowning as a baby or falling down stairs (implying that otto mightve been one of those kids that gets scrapes and bruises everywhere bc he keeps getting into shenanigans akdndn). but reinhard because of his dps has basically No Normal Experience. like he doesnt get sick. he doesnt get physically hurt in a lot of ways. etc etc. reinhard also has the ability to get ottos exact dp if reinhard ever gets into a situation where he specifically needs it. but reinhard of course doesnt have a choice in so much of this. otto of course didnt choose to be born with his dp, but he learns to function with his dp and use it to his advantage (including making animal friends!! like frufoo!!) with the help of his family. reinhard is. well because of his family situation and DP situation hes been Almost entirely on his own his whole life. and reinhard IS on his own because of how. special. he is. that and he of course has Zero say in whether he wants to be the sword saint or not. the world has decided that for him and he Has to do it. theres no choice there. otto and reinhard both have the legacy of their families behind them, but otto embraces it and reinhard is Forced into it. reinhard Suffers because of his familys legacy. meanwhile, the reason why otto manages to go on with his life as a mostly hopeful person is Because of his familys love!!

additionally, reinhard and otto grew up lonely. like reinhard only makes his first friend, julius, when reinhards fourteen. and ottos first Human friend is subaru, when ottos like twenty!! otto of course struggled to make human friends as a kid because he was behind in his social development and also accidentally did shit like Summon a whole Swarm of Insects into his town, so no duh otto didnt make human friends T^T for otto and reinhard its hard to make human connections when your dps make you So Different from the people around you!! how do you connect with others then? except ottos dp is in of itself About connection. his dp is entirely based on the ability to communicate—with animals, yes, but we see him make all kinds of animal friends throughout his life. again, frufoo’s his lifelong ground dragon companion, and otto often calls on the help of animals (who CHOOSE to help him). so otto wasnt Entirely lonely, especially when he had his family, hence why he very much did not turn out Super depressed as a teen and adult. reinhard of course was Very Lonely. on the other hand.

that, and i think it cant be denied that reinhard and ottos later connections to subaru are in some way Special to them. subaru was the one person who had no idea what the astreas and sword saints are and just saw reinhard For reinhard, which reinhard probably latches onto a bit, especially given the fact that reinhard just claims subaru as a best friend when the two havent even interacted that much in the main route? when you factor in reinhard if from lost in memories, subaru being special to reinhard gets clearer too—reinhard in that route just constantly comes to subarus aid EVEN IF subaru doesnt even call him. reinhard basically acts like a puppy eagerly following you and wagging its tail, and subaru is special because of his Particular attitude of being so Loud and Bold. which is also what draws otto to subaru!! otto specifically was captured by the witch cult and subarus decisions in main route lead to him being saved, and then later otto notes that from the moment hes met subaru, subaru acts like theyve always been close friends—which of course endears otto to subaru. to the point where otto RISKS HIS LIFE in sanctuary helping subaru and then he chooses to follow subaru into emilia camp. i think that the thing with reinsuba vs ottosuba is that reinhard wants friends and to be Equal and close to someone so badly, while otto was pretty decently content being a traveling merchant for years with just frufoo at his side. subaru, like many other people, looks Up to reinhard… but theyre not exactly equals because of reinhards status and power and reinhard is painfully aware of that. otto and subaru on the other hand are arguably the closest to being equals out of everyone, i think—in status and power levels and intellect and the roles they play in their camp. and by arc 5, reinhard is aware of otto of course being the emilia camps internal affairs minister and also being a close friend to subaru—and speaking of the reinhard-otto rarepair, i do think reinhard might even be a little bit jealous, if you really want to go that route. otto is a close friend and Equal to subaru. reinhard wants that so badly because no matter how much he registers his friends as his equals, his friends dont usually tend to see Him as an equal. and to otto, subaru is HIS closest friend!!

also speaking of arc 5. OTTO is the one that breaks up the hostage situation with felt and heinkel and reinhard. and because otto broke up that situation somehow, reinhard was able to finally join the fight in arc 5. theres an otto side story where felt and reinhard take the time to thank otto for this too, but like. can you imagine being otto and walking in on heinkel holding felt and reinhard hostage….. thatd be so incredibly awkward…… but anyway!! i think it is so horrible and funny in the context of reinhard-otto wkdndnd. otto is the one person who saw that shit happening and helped reinhard and felt out there hah.

but also speaking of arc 5. otto chooses to pick up roswaal’s burnt book of wisdom and otto decides to RESTORE it. otto bringing that damn book to priestella is also what helps draw the sin archbishops to the city??? and the reason why otto does this is because he doesnt trust roswaal and otto wants to restore the book just to read it and then destroy it so no one else gets to that info. and otto keeps the fact that he has the book secret for A WHOLE YEAR. otto has a habit of doing shit like this—doing things that HE thinks is best with barely any regard for anyone else—which reinhard cant afford to do. reinhards the sword saint and hes under the control of the kingdom and he Has to follow orders. meanwhile otto gets leeway because hes 1. very much a normal guy in comparison and 2. because hes “Normal”, hes hidden in the background both literally and Narratively and so he can just do shit like keep the book of wisdom just for his own reasons. Without As Much Personal Consequence. like reinhard does what he thinks is best too, but he cant afford to Not think of others bc his inherent power (and also family trauma…. and being brainwashed by the kingdom…) makes him painfully aware that the consequences of his actions are going to be significantly High if he fucks up. and quite frankly ottos morality is like. he has the morality of a chocolate eclair and im only half joking. well, more specifically, otto follows and treasures merchant ideals—which MAKES SENSE bc he Is a merchant from a merchant family—but he also denies knightly ideals. like with a Passion. otto doesnt see the point in living for ideals and then going out of your way to help others at a Detriment to yourself. like otto is very transactional that way—there has to be a benefit of some kind to him. if youre kind to him, he’ll repay you. if youre cruel, he’ll Also repay you in some way. and then on the other hand. you have reinhard. reinhard’s EVERYTHING is all about knightly ideals. he is THE pinnacle of knightly ideals. he HAS to try and save everyone even if its a detriment to himself and he doesnt even Register it as a detriment to himself because this is just his duty and his purpose. all this shit that otto does with the book of wisdom and then later otto’s Everything in arc 8 with how he supports the idea of just going back to lugunica and letting all 50 million Vollachian citizens figure their shit out by themselves—reinhard WOULD NOT agree. at all. otto chooses like the ten people he cares about the most and decides very pragmatically that everyone else is Less Important. and yeah of course reinhard has people he cares about More, but reinhard 1000% WILL go out of his way to help others. reinhard WILL try to help his family even though theyre shitty to him. meanwhile, if youre shitty to otto, hes either gonna say fuck you and leave (see: greed if) or hes gonna find a way to fight back against you. like unless hes held captive in some way with no hope of freedom (or if youre emilia camp and he Cares about you and knows you also care about him), hes not gonna take poor treatment without at least a Bit of a fight (and even if youre emilia camp, otto WILL complain the ENTIRE TIME and will not shut up <3). reinhard though? yeah emotionally hes gonna fold like a wet blanket the moment youre even Remotely mean to him.

but like adding onto the idea that reinhard would not Approve of otto….. OTTOS AN ALCOHOLIC. LIKE. like theres no question about it, otto canonically drinks when hes stressed out and the others call it his “drinking time” 😭😭😭👍👍 like ottos anxiety is out of wack (his stomach apparently hurts + theres the implication hes lost weight from stress wkdndnd) and im 100% sure he self medicates with alcohol. so like i Imagine the moment reinhard gets to know otto on a deeper level then reinhard is not gonna be happy about Any of the above info (ottos alcoholism + chocolate eclair morality). reinhards gonna be like “wtf otto :((( :<<<“. like hilariously speaking i think reinhards gonna give more shit to otto than heinkel akdndnd like otto is CLOSE to subaru and i think reinhard after being helped by otto especially is also like haha otto seems alright!! and then the moment reinhard learns more about otto its gonna be like. words cannot describe it let me find a reaction picture.

BECAUSE LIKE i think reinhard would trust otto a bit like in the sense that yeah otto is trusted by subaru!!! otto aided in the siege of priestella!! otto helped reinhard and felt!!!! and then otto turns around and does Questionable things and reinhards like “noooooo wtf is this :((((“. its like a weird mini betrayal HAH, is how i imagine reinhard/otto as a rare pair. like i think theyre gonna BUTT HEADS. the idea of otto being one of the only people reinhard comes close to disliking is Hilarious to me. like of course reinhard isnt gonna give heinkel shit bc reinhard is 1. brainwashed into thinking everything is his fault and 2. thats his dad. reinhard sees otto though and reinhards like WHY ARE YOU LIKE THAT :<<<< YOURE LIKE THE BAD PARTS OF MY DAD. and then like subaru and felt are like the good parts of his dad. bold and passionate. otto meanwhile is Petty As Hell, complains a lot, and is an alcoholic akdndnd which is Also like reinhards dad. rip reinhard. otto is the functional alcoholic foil to heinkel ig 😭👍

meanwhile ottos thoughts on reinhard are like—theres a wariness and intimidation i think, because YEAH reinhards the sword saint and otto of course knows that, but im pretty sure otto just thinks reinhard Is a wet blanket after walking in on the felt-heinkel-reinhard hostage situation. and then otto heard reinhard blaming himself for that afterwards. like otto Pities reinhard for the shit reinhard has to deal with, i think, and on a deeper level i think otto could be weirdly endeared to reinhard. i mean otto already cares about One stupid hero complex knight (subaru) and otto Already cares about another stupid hero complex person too (garfiel) (also emilia <3 who has a lot of parallels to reinhard anyway!!). ottos gonna be like god reinhards so fucking stupid. i cant Exactly leave him alone…. like we see otto having sympathy for emilia before he even meets and gets to know her, so i think itd be similar with reinhard. otto would get that reinhard doesnt Exactly have a lot of agency, and of course astrea family drama Is Loud As Hell so otto has pity for reinhard of course. otto with his healthy familial relationships is like WOW that sucks. so like i think the rein-otto dynamic is reinhard being like “ew otto :<<“ and being Perhaps a bit passive aggressive while ottos like “GOD hes just like my entire camp!!!! stupid and naive!!!!!!! i cant NOT leave him alone actually!!!!”. which is fucking hilarious to me akdndndnd

and. lastly. prophecy of the throne shows a more in depth look at reinhard and otto meeting each other in one scene—of course those versions of reinhard and otto are slightly different because prophecy of the throne is AU arc 3, but like i think its interesting to factor in bc its reinotto crumbs!!! like reinhard is like “oh subaru whos this? :o” and ottos like panicking and freaking out hes like “WHAT?? WAAAA ITS THE SWORD SAINT?? HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO BE CALM RN???” bc hes literally meeting a celebrity rn and subaru did not tell him shit and reinhards like “haha if youre friends with subaru you can just call me reinhard 😅” like the reinotto meeting is the most awkward funny shit of all time wkdndnd. so im sure the rest of their dynamic is gonna be awkward and messy 👍👍 and if reinhard ever gets ottos dp too, they can go and awkwardly hold hands and go out squeaking at animals together LMAO. theyre both so cringe fail that their dynamic is gonna be the most cringe thing youve ever seen 😭😭

and adding onto my hypothetical breakups tier list post. yes i do think they would try to pretend nothing happened. reinhard manages bc his whole thing is that he seems unfazed by things (is actually Not Unfazed). ottos whole thing is that he seems like a crybaby, is a crybaby (without actually crying that much), but is also decidedly Secretly Insane the more you look into him bc of how he Literally and Narratively hides in the background a lot, so ottos just gonna be getting drunk and then blabbing about reinhard to everyone who comes near him akdndndn. otto and reinhard are both Emotionally Messes when they dont seem like theyre as messy as others but theyre MESSY!!! theyre gonna be messy!!! im not sure how reinotto would ever start but like you could shove them into shenanigans together and they could get up to the Stupidest shit and thats how they grow a Weird Relationship out of it wjdndn. otto being otto is probably also like “this is GOOD politically bc cultivating a good relationship with felt camp and the sword saint is very important!!” while reinhard is head empty and going “ah yes otto 🙂 subarus other friend!!”. and i would Love to explore more of what their dybamic would be, yes.

Canon Adrien and Zoé

Oh boy... man... you just asked for so many words. I apologize in advance for everything you'll have to read. Here's hoping I don't get too distracted and go on 5 million tangents. But, firstly, thank you for the ask. <3

I have less to say about Zoé than Adrien so I'm gonna start with her.

In short terms... I have no idea what I feel about Zoé. She's... she's not really a character. Like the girl is nice and wants to be an actress. That's it...

Oh yeah, she was, I guess, bullied and has cool shoes?

Speaking of her shoes, let's just discuss the chaos that is Zoé's design. Like, what the freak? Girl has more going on than a party! Why is she so decked out compared to even Marinette??? She also looks like she would be a street artist (honestly I would be 100% down with that).

She's not ugly, by any means. She actually looks pretty decent. It just drives me insane that nothing really matches but it doesn't look bad that's just my personal design choices butting in to complain. There is some things I would just ditch all together so she stops cluttering my screen. I actually used a dress up game I have to design her an outfit I would kind of prefer (game's called Love Nikki btw. Recommend it and it's 3D version, Shining Nikki). But I just couldn't find the perfect stuff I wanted. Maybe I should try again...

These were the best I got;

The game is very detailed so it's still a tad cluttered but I tried to simplify them as best I could. Something like this would be nice but still not the ideal look I was going for. I wanted more actress like vibes, I suppose. I think I failed. XD I also think I would have done better if Zoé actually had a semblance of a character. That's basically how I design, based off the character and then I build from there. Hard to do that when there's no... character.

But the main problem with her design is she sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the other miraculous characters. She has way too much going on compared to most everyone else. The only other designs in the show that even come close to comparing to her are Aspik and Viperion and they needed a lot going on since they both have skin tight suits. (Absolute pain to draw, btw and I still find those two kind of cluttered anyway. Like add a bobble or something, stop painting textures on them. It hurts to try and draw).

I really wish they thought her design out more. Just like I really wish they thought a lot of their designs out a bit more.

Moving on to her introduction... I hated it. It was very weird to me.

For some reason, even though we have never seen or heard of this character before, the episode is mostly in Zoé's POV instead of Marinette's. It's like they expect us to just kind of know her already or she's like the new protagonist or something? That's also just completely unfair seeing as it took them 4 seasons to show the POV of their secondary lead (which sucked, btw, but we'll get to Adrien in due time) but this minor character for some reason gets it for her introduction. Nice to see we're playing favorites.

Because we suddenly get jerked out of Marinette's POV to follow this random girl's POV instead, it felt like I was watching something other than miraculous. I actually thought I was watching an entirely different show despite I knew I had clicked on a miraculous episode. I have no idea why the freak they made this choice. It was so off-putting.

To make it weirder, she feels like um... the best way I can describe it is well... You know those games you play where you start as an main character (usually an unnamed character that you can name yourself though sometimes they have a name already) who's mostly just a blank slate? Like they have a few hints of a personality but for the most part you choose who they really are?

Yeah... That's what Zoé feels like (but just... without the fun and... choices). And that could have been cool if this was actually a new show she was the main character of. But it isn't. It's still miraculous, so it's just weird.

She feels unfinished. Which really confirms what I have always thought about this character... just something thrown in last minute as a peacemaker for the writers who didn't want Chloe to be Queen Bee and the other writers who wanted Chloe to be Queen Bee. Zoé was the compromise. And it really shows.

Oh yeah, here's an idea, ml team... Maybe show us how nice she is instead of constantly repeating it. Ground-breaking, I know. /s

The fact that they had to repeat it so many times makes me feel like Zoé's actually secretly evil (which I would also be totally down for). And it solidifies Sole Crusher as yet another prime example of why show don't tell is a very important tool the ml team should use otherwise you get... well... that.

Oh yeah, let's talk about the message of Sole Crusher because I have issues with it. I'm sure that shocks absolutely no one.

So, I like the message I think they were trying to go for. Keyword being, think. Thing is, they screwed it up so massively that I can't be sure if that's what they were really going for. But I think the message is to never assume the worst of people based on their situations and their family relations. I think the message was to get to know someone first before judging them.

Let me just go point by point as to why this message seems unclear to me and poorly executed. I'm going to go from best to worst;

1. They already did this exact same message with Adrien in Origins. Which wouldn't be an issue if it wasn't basically the same thing. They even have the same exact relationship that initially causes people to assume the worst in them. The only difference is Zoé actually decides to play cruel to impress Chloe (for some reason), Zoé shows no real signs of being nice to the people who assumed the worst of her and never really does (beyond maybe two scenes), and it's all dialed up to 11 (for some reason). This makes Zoé feel like Adrien 2.0.

2. It makes literally no sense why Marinette is so convinced Zoé is a good, kind person. She doesn't know her. They just freaking met. There's no way she should even know Zoé was acting.

They showed us nothing that would make this even remotely believable. Marinette hadn't even seen her do anything that good besides reaching down to help her pick up the crate of apples Marinette spilled all over the place. (Sidenote; How can Marinette confidentially carry a crate of apples? I am actually asking. I still get nervous using knives because I used to be so clumsy I would accidentally cut myself constantly. We sure this girl has low self-confidence)? That is not enough evidence to suggest "Hey, Zoé's a totally kind person".

3. Zoé still chose to be mean. "Acting" really means nothing. She still hurt people but she's played off as being the victim, as if she was forced to do that. She wasn't. Obviously, I feel bad for her but she still chose to hurt people.

Yes, she was afraid Chloe and her mother would outcast and treat her badly. I understand that. But this is an assumption which goes against the perceived message of the episode. Was it a correct assumption? Yes. But you can't have this both ways, guys. Zoé has never met Chloe before.

Now the show acts as if Zoé has known her mother for a while so her assumptions for Audrey at least make sense but the show also states she has never met Chloe. How does she know Chloe will really be as terrible as she may act? Outward appearances can be misleading.

4. So... Marinette is our protagonist, correct? Marinette is the person we should be following and learning from, right? Cool, so if that's the case then, depending on how the episode is written, she is our example of what not to do and what to do. Hopefully we can agree on that.

So the scene where Zoé enters the bakery, and the rest of the stuff that follow it until Zoé exits, was a perfect example of what not to do with a stranger. Marinette immediately trusts this stranger based on one act of kindness and invites Zoé to a get together with her friends without even asking her friends if that's okay with them. She gives Zoé her phone number despite just meeting her and only knowing her for about 5 minutes, max. This is a great example of what not to do.

Trusting strangers with very little evidence to support them being a good person and offering them your personal information without getting to know them first is very much not a good thing to do. We all agree on that, hopefully.

Now, here's the problem with it... The scene wasn't written in a way that discourages kids from doing this.

In fact, it shows this behavior as positive and the right thing to do. There's no repercussions for Marinette giving a stranger her phone number. Actually there's benefits and rewards for it. Now, is this a possibility that can happen? I guess, sure. But it's most definitely not worth the risk!

Now assuming I got the correct message this episode was trying to teach, I get that the message is to not assume. I get it. We shouldn't immediately assume everyone is out to hurt us. But that should go both ways. You also shouldn't immediately assume just because someone seems nice that they are a safe person to invite into your friend group, your home, and your life.

I can't believe this made it past all those people and no one saw an issue with it! This especially upsets me as someone with two young nieces who like to watch this show! You should never ever assume a nice stranger is going to have your best interests at heart. Never. Not even if they are your same age. You should always get to know them first before inviting them over to group parties or your house and way before you even think of giving them your phone number. That's not even being unfair, that's just a healthy and safe mindset!

Now that I have complained enough about that let's move on to Zoé herself. Um... There really isn't much to say about her, is there? There's nothing interesting about her. She was actually more interesting when she was acting evil. At least then she was entertaining. It actually made me wish Chloe and her would switch roles, to be honest. (Side note: ML, I am literally begging you to stop matching siblings' names in "cute" ways in miraculous. Every miraculous character that has a sibling has their name inexplicably match up. The only ones not like that is Nino and Chris and that's only in the English dub. As a twin, this personally irks me. Please quit it).

I guess I could say that I do ship Zoé with Marinette more than I ship Marinette with Adrien so... hey, that's a plus... maybe? Ironic since, again, she is basically Adrien 2.0.

But that's all I got on Zoé. She's like... a 2 out of 10, I guess. She's not too offensive, her episode was mildly entertaining, but overall I think she contributed nothing and her episode only teaches kids to be far too trusting of strangers who happen to be nice. I find her terribly forgettable and you could easily remove both her episodes without much consequence to the plot of season 4. I am speaking as someone who still hasn't seen Queen Banana and literally didn't need to watch any of that episode to watch other episodes. All I needed to know is it introduced Vesperia who replaces Queen Bee and that Chloe was solidified to be bad to the point Adrien cut their friendship off (which isn't much of a change since it was basically nonexistent in the first place). I didn't even need to know that Vesperia was Zoé.

The only other thing I have to say about Zoé is about her last name. I had a friend come to me complaining about her last name, how it seemed kind of fishy a white girl got a Chinese last name. And that's a fair thing to be upset about but Lee is also a European last name. Since Zoé was from New York which is in North America (US) which started with an English background, it's entirely possible for her to have such a last name. I just wanted to clear that up and save the writer's some grief, maybe. ^^

With all that said... I think I need to take a rain check on Adrien as I realized I have way more to say about him and a lot of it is comparisons. I have many reasons for this but spoiler, I suppose... To me Adrien is an incomplete character and shows no signs of gaining any solidification. He's got more personality than Zoé (thank goodness) but that may not be a good thing depending on the writing.

I plan to compare Adrien to a wide variety of characters he feels like but never really seems to be any one of these types of characters. Like they just can't decide. As well as some stories from these characters that are similar to a lot of the "arcs" the show tries to do with Adrien but inevitably fails or comes up short (in my opinion) almost every time.

These may change but so far characters I am considering for this are; Sonic the Hedgehog (Sonic Archie and IDW comics), Ben Tennyson (Ben 10), Kiro (Mr Love: Queen's Choice), Gavin (Mr Love: Queen's Choice), Luke Pearce (Tears of Themis), Marius von Hagan (Tears of Themis), Eugeo (Sword Art Online season 3), and Corliss (Raven Saga on Webtoons). Maybe even Thoma (Genshin Impact). Hope that gives you an inkling of the mess that Adrien feels like to me.

I'm sorry I couldn't get him done here though. I shall try to get to him soon but he's gonna take a while especially since Adrien as a character personally impacted a large portion of my life so I have a lot of feelings to sort through.

World doesn’t know how lucky they are-

In reality headlines would be “Soul Master Industries crumble down! What happened?” because the world has no idea the dramatic stuff happening.

Within his own group of followers yeah - but outside? The world definetly just tolerates him - he’s got brains and an industry of his own that gives people a job. They have no idea what he’s been planning or the crimes he’s committing.

Completely unnamed strangers? More very close encounters but never managing to get caught out. People like Elderbug and Salubra? They learn about the merms! Salubra is a warlock (kinda obvs she works with charms and magic) and has known about merms existence for ages she’s just never been privy to meeting one in person. Elderbug owning the boating business nearby has an encounter and thus having to be taught about them by the group and Tiso. But - has to promise to stay quiet about it. But he’s a nice lad so he understands their worries :)

She does not. She stays at Hallownest to help care for the sick and keep track of who goes missing or needed to be isolated. She’s got her hands just a little bit full.

So I won’t answer this fully because I’m actually gonna do a doodle dump with this because - yes they do temporarily agree to wear charms to have human forms because it’s a little hard to stop Soul Master when he’s on land and you have a tail. Merms aren’t uh - too happy but there’s no memory alteration and they can yeet it at anytime.

Sometimes yes yes he does- Because his specific species can breath on land just fine (A much longer time than Tiso can) and so his only limit is dehydration (which he simply needs to take a soak back in the water for) he sometimes just scuttles whilst staying sneaky if it’s a short thing on land he needs to do. And before the pendant was modified to just be a shape shifting one. That period of time where he was just a merm but had land obligations still-

They’ve upgraded their sneak skills to 100 with all the merm meetup practice- jkjk but he did just keep an eye out. (lmao thank you :)!)

As much as that would be insanely funny, he does not. As much as he’s a warlock he’s also got that human body - which very much doesn’t appreciate being face planted. Alas.

Note that while I mention the bunch of reasons why this ship just straight up wouldn’t work out, I’m going to ignore the fact that Kaito acts very homophobic and transphobic in the japanese version of the game. I’ve mentioned it in this blog a bunch of times before, and it’s pretty obvious that everyone ignores his Homophobia so I’m just going to pretend as if he’s not homophobic and break down why exactly this ship wouldn’t work out even without him being homophobic in the first place. But I’m definitely not going to exclude how he acts towards guys in general.

> Kaito treats most guys he meets like trash, unless he respects them. Whenever Kaito finds a guy acting “Weak” he literally looks down on them, even gets frustrated with them. Huge proof is how he treated Shuichi for crying over Kaede, and then later punching Kokichi because he was acting “Weird”. Kaito was a huge fan of Ryoma, but when he saw what he has become, someone who has given up on his future, he started treating him badly, and after Ryoma was dead he even talked badly on him calling him “Weak.” and a “Sissy.” Not being able to understand the pain Ryoma was going through or how things were for him. It’s shown multiple times in the game that Kaito treats guys like trash, and he treats Kokichi the worst of all.

Note: I do think Kaito can change the way he acts towards guys, but I don’t he will ever love one romantically.

> I think we can all agree that Kokichi is really hard to deal with sometimes. He distances himself so much from everyone as much as he could, and he won’t back down that easily even if it meant hurting others’ feelings. He keeps lying constantly so no one can figure him out or get close to him. To the point he stayed silent then locked himself in his room. How in the world do people actually see this ship as better than oumasai? I don’t get it.

Kokichi shouldn’t be with someone that will treat him like trash, and physically (if not also emotionally) harm him for how he’s acting.

> Opposites sometimes attract, but POLAR opposites do not. and I’m talking from personal experience here, two people who are different in so many ways (ESPECIALLY THEIR WAY OF THINKING) will end up fighting 24/7. It was shown again and again in the game that Kokichi and Kaito do not get along thanks to how different their approach is to things and their seemingly different upbringings. Ships between two characters who fight a lot just make me so uncomfortable and disturbed, because I know how these relationships actually end up in real life. Fights do happen in relationships sometimes, it’s even needed to strengthen the relationship, to realise that no matter what happens you STILL love your partner, but when you fight every single time you talk? That’s a bad sign!

Fighting is NOT romantic and it never will be! And when it has physical violence mixed in? My god. Please do yourself a favor and break up with your partner if they keep hitting you.

> Kaito doesn’t ever side with Kokichi:

He literally said in chapter 4 “I don’t wanna survive it means I have to stoop to your level!” and Kokichi said “Then die in a hole for all I care! WE wanna LIVE, so stop getting in our way!”. Kaito will never be on Kokichi’s side, Even if it meant his death and the deaths of all his friends.

When Kaito realised that maybe watching all the motive videos together would’ve prevented a murder from happening Shuichi is the one that points out that it was what Kokichi was trying to do. But then Kaito is like “Huh, really?” Then brushes it off. Because of course, of course Kokichi wants murders to continue. Right?

Even after Kokichi spilled everything to him because he was literally about to die and really wanted Kaito to go along with his plan and believe him. Kaito still stated that he still thought he only thought of himself. Even after Kokichi sacrificed himself to save HIM from the poison and MAKI from being his murderer. He still hated him and didn’t believe him. The only reason Kaito went along with his plan was because he was about to die anyway, he was running out of time and he needed to get out even if it meant following Kokichi’s plan and killing him in the process.

When two people actually love each other they have each others backs. But with these two, they never will.

I always see myself and my brother in them, which is another reason why their ship makes me beyond uncomfortable. My brother puts his trust in people way too easily, and believes whatever tf his brain comes up with because y’know it’s him and “he’s always right”. He would never take a second to think that maybe he’s wrong, just like Kaito and his hunch. I on the other hand find him incredibly stupid, we argue a lot because our way of thinking and our beliefs are very different, we even used to hit each other a lot. We never really got along. And the way Kokichi and Kaito act around each other really reminded me of it, but you don’t know me and you don’t know my brother so why should you take my word for it? An example I like to use when trying to explain this point to others is the relationship between Stanley and Stanford in Gravity Falls, those two fought a lot in the show but in the last episode they had to work together on a plan despite their differences. Doesn’t it remind you of a certain story that happened in the game? Kokichi and Kaito’s relationship resembles theirs so much it’s insane.

I feel like the game tried to show us how these two are more like siblings but on bad terms, even giving them similar hair and eye colors. But that flew straight over every rivalry shipper’s head.

These are some of the reasons why Ou**ta wouldn’t work out and can’t even be a thing in the first place, I said it before and I’ll say it again: I could write a book about this topic. But I’m kinda busy today and I have to leave the house soon- I hope you’re convinced that you are actually right. (I’ve been told countless times that I’m wrong leading me to question myself, so I wanted to help out by reassuring you that your feelings are valid and you’re not wrong in this situation at all) Saying Oumasai is toxic for one line Shuichi said while he was angry and defending his friend, while shipping Ou**ta and ignoring all this stuff is like the most hypocritical thing anyone can say.

And yeah, people should ship whatever they want. Lots of people ignore characters’ feelings and ship the crackiest of ships, making very OOC art and fanfiction. And they can do that! But they can’t go around dissing people for their ship while supporting an obviously flawed one. Honestly you shouldn’t attack people for their ships in the first place, no matter what YOU ship. Just stay in your own bubble and stay away from the ships you dislike. It’s not that hard!

If you’re an Ou**ta fan reading this, I just want to say thank you for reading this far, and I’m really not saying you should stop supporting your ship. I’m just explaining why we feel this way towards it and the evidence we have behind it. If you’re one of the people who go around attacking shippers while boasting your ship. Please stop? Seriously, stop giving a shit about other people’s opinions and life will suddenly become much easier.

I’d like to clarify: If anyone responds to this post telling me I’m wrong, I’m not responding. My blog is for me to post art, sometimes funny stuff to make people’s days, interact with my followers and draw their requests, or ranting about topics I’m passionate about (Mostly DR). “For the last time! I DON’T LIKE HIM!”

“Sure sis… you definitely don’t have a sketchbook of drawings of him.”

“You can stop talking now!”

The two had arrived at Jeongmi’s new room, because college dorms were way too expensive. And lucky for her, there was a Min Jisol who was looking for a roommate.

“I’ll bring your stuff around later, ok?”

“Ok… bye!”

But in his defense, Jungkook believed he had the right to be worried about his little sister. Because he was pretty darn sure he knew exactly how her roommate was: the infamous Min Jisol of Daegu Town High School. She was the girl that everyone warned you about. It was obvious she smoked because she always coughed as if she had smoker’s lung and could literally collapse at any given moment. And Jesus Christ, she always smelled like goddamn alcohol! She always seemed as if she had tried to get the stank of alcohol off, but in the end she miserably failed and the smell basically radiated off of her. But of course, can’t forget that she was always late and skipping class. The problem? She never got in trouble for it. To top it all off, she graduated as valedictorian. Combined with her popularity amongst the boys for her looks, it was no surprise when the gossip train tooted about Jisol sleeping around with the administration to get straight A’s. Hence, she was basically the queen of the school in all aspects. Despite all the obvious warning signs, people loved her. Earning her the nickname, Harley Queen.

But Jungkook was barely any better and he knew it. His reputation wasn’t exactly spotless since he hit high school. Puberty had treated him very kindly, earning the attention from all the girls within the school district. Especially at sport competitions. And every so often, a girl would ask to speak to him somewhere quiet. Alone. Like a lost lamb, he would follow. He never did anything, didn’t even touch them, yet the gossip train tooted that Jungkook had a knack for quickies and breaking the girls’ hearts once he was done with them. Because of this one fact, Jungkook had begrudgingly agreed to let Jeongmi room with Jisol. Maybe she was just another victim of the gossip train, just like him. Or maybe it was just his grudge against her for… a number of reasons.

“Ok… bye Jungkook!”

“I’ll bring your stuff up in like, two hours ok?”

“Uh-huh. Goodbye!”

Obviously, Jeongmi was super embarrassed that her brother was basically dropping her off at her first apartment. And she didn’t want to make a bad first impression, so she did everything in her power to shoo him away. But as soon as the door opened, Jeongmi was shocked by the girl’s beauty in front of her. All of her doubts disappeared into thin air and she found herself bowing awkwardly.

“Hello, my name is Jeongmi. It’s really nice to meet you!”

But Jisol was already busting a lung with laughter.

“You are so cute!! But anyway, you don’t have to act so formal around me. We’re roommates now Jeongmi. As you probably know, my name’s Jisol and welcome to the apartment!”

Despite having only met once or twice, Jeongmi already felt the bond forming between them.

“Do you need any help bringing your stuff up or anything?”

“Actually, my brother is bringing up my stuff in a couple of hours.”

“Girl, that’s honestly sibling goals. My brother would tell me to suck it up and be independent like all the girls in the world preach about.”

But now, Jeongmi was confused as hell. How in the world did Jisol have such awful rumors circulating about her? She was honestly one of the sweetest, most wholesome Jeongmi had ever met. But for Jisol? She was just over the moon that there was someone who was willing to give her a clean slate and actually get to know her. Not try to kiss up to her just so she could be referred to one of the guys. The reason everyone thought she was a slut was that most of her friends were guys. Mostly because the other girls at school were entirely too judgemental. And super bitchy.

“Feel free to explore, Jeongmi. Lol, you don’t have to be so nervous. You kinda live her now?”

And Jeongmi was like, why the hell does it literally smell like freaking daisies? Smoker’s lung, my foot! There wasn’t even the slightest whiff of smoke or alcohol anywhere. That’s when the knock came faintly. Which Jeongmi barely heard.

“Hi, I’m Jungkook, Jeongmi’s older brother. I came to drop off her stuff?”

Already, Jungkook was gaining attention from the neighbors. Mostly because the apartment was a hot spot for college kids who couldn’t afford or didn’t want to live in a dorm.

“Unnie, do you mind if he comes inside? Because there are literally people crowding the hallway just to stare at him. And it’s kinda gross?”

“Yeah, of course! Come on in.”

See, Jeongmi was totally clueless to the history between Jungkook and Jisol. They had been rivals at everything, all the way up until high school. But that was a different story. Sighing, Jisol let him in, promising herself to be civil for Jeongmi’s sake, if not hers.

As for Jungkook, he was surprised to see the two three-star black belts hanging in the open closet and the sheer amount of beat-up medical textbooks on the kitchen table.

“Do you want anything to drink?”

“Uh, no. I’m good actually. But thanks.”

And he was 100% surprised at how well Jisol was keeping her cool. Taking the heavy box from him, Jisol gave Jungkook a tight smile.

“I can help Jeongmi unpack if you have somewhere you need to be.”

But Jisol knew that look in his eyes all too well. There was no way this could be the apartment of the Harley Queen, right? There was no way that the Queen would actually be reading and studying to get good grades, right? She had to be hiding the booze somewhere, right? The drugs? The weed? The cigarette packs? And Jungkook understood the tone of dismissal in her voice all too well.

“Then I’ll be going then. Bye, Mi!”

But as Jungkook made his way down to his car, he couldn’t but think of the little collage of Jisol’s baby pictures on the wall. One of them was of the two of them holding hands as they crossed the street. Groaning out loud, Jungkook looked towards the sky.

“STOP BEING IN MY LIFE MIN JISOL!!!!!”

Why was his life so intertwined with Jisol’s?!! On top of already being entangled with every aspect of his life, why was she his ex-girlfriend from preschool too?!! He thought he’d erased his memory of her a long time ago!!

When Jungkook got back to the house, he wasn’t surprised to find Yoongi watching TV on the couch.

“So… how did it go?”

“I mean, Jeongmi seems to really like her, so I guess that’s all that matters.”

Shaking his head, Yoongi sat up straight.

“But I asked what your thoughts on Jisol are?”

“She’s… a lot different from what I expected.”

“How so?”

“She seems a lot more… put together than everyone takes her for. There’s not a single trace of cologne, smoke, drugs, or alcohol in there. I honestly have no idea how the hell these rumors formed about her. She seems really nice.”

“Well… she has changed a lot since high school ended. Plus, the rumors are mostly my fault. But I thought you were-”

“What are you talking about, hyung?”

“There’s a lot of things you don’t know about me, Jungkook. However, this story isn’t entirely mine to tell, so it’d be a tad unfair if she weren’t here to explain the entirety of the situation.”

“But-”

“No.”

Grumbling, Jungkook made his way to the shower. He knew where he stood among the seven guys as the youngest: at the top. But when it came to Yoongi? That was all null and void.

“YAH JUNGKOOK-AH! JOONIE HAS A MISSION FOR YOU, JIMIN, AND TAE!!”

Jin yelled through the door, banging on it to disrupt the peace of the hot, running water.

“Ok hyung! I’ll be out soon! BUT YOU BREAK THAT DOOR I SWEAR-”

“BYE!”

But why was Tae coming on this mission? That almost never happened. He was the one who usually stayed back to work the comms and get all the inside info that was necessary to send to whoever was out in the field. But if he was coming, Joon-hyung’s mission for them had to be insanely top priority if Tae was coming out to play. 10 minutes later, the boys were seated on the floor in front of Joon.

“Does everyone here know Song Yuri?”

“Yeah. We’re all in the same biology class.”

“Well we just found out from our spy that Yuri is actually the heiress of the Ahn Empire in Daegu.”

“Wait… aren’t they the ones-”

“Who created a memory implanter and have passed down some secret through generations, using it?!!”

“Yes, that one. And if everyone else knows, then everyone is going to be gunning for her. She’s dating one of the NCT boys so we have to be careful. From what we know, she’s close with all of the NCT boys so we have to be careful. The reason I chose you three is because you have a subconscious memory of Yuri’s behavioral patterns So please bring her back alive. Got that?”

“Yes hyung.”

“Good. We’ve also got word that it’s one of the Dreamies’ birthdays today so they’ll be vulnerable. I will take the other hyungs to take them out, ok?”

“Ok hyung. See you later!”

Hey Room! Thanks for replying to my Q. But if Illya was that lovesick for Katarina since he was 6, doesn’t it give a stench of classic transference to the Red/Liz dynamic? Like, Illya couldn’t get Kat, so he sees her daughter as his second chance . . . with Kat really. Liz was supposed to be the woman Red “loved and lost” in Cape May, but if Red = Illya, then that description must apply to both girls.

I would see it as such if Red chose to whisper Kat’s name as his final word, or a memory of her flashed across his mind before his impending almost execution, or if he talked about her as the woman he loved/his heart/his life. But it’s always clearly Liz, there isn’t even a touch of ambiguity to this. If he still harbored feelings for Kat, they should have surfaced in these key moments but they didn’t. His past relationship w/ Kat has an influence here, I don’t deny that, but I don’t believe Red sees Liz as a replacement or consolation prize. He sees her as her own person, and if he fell for Liz, he fell for Liz bc she fits his type just like all the other women he has fancied before – 99.9% of whom were not her mother. He’s loved before but not the way he loves Liz now.

And I should have worded my response better re: the lovesick puppy thing bc I don’t think he’s been in love w/ Kat since they were 6 or that it’s some sort of guiding constant in his life. They likely lived separate lives on different continents, for starters, and she wasn’t interested in him that way. And I mentioned somewhere else how I see an inconsistency in his attachment to Kat in “Rassvet”: he isn’t devastated when he thinks she committed suicide, at least nowhere near as affected as he was by Liz’s death, which undercuts the whole selfless lover-hero image that seemingly follows soon after she comes out of hiding to ask for his help. There are no hurt feelings, no stinging sense of betrayal in the way he interacts w/ Kat (it’s almost like “oh, you’re back, good, wanna make out?”), yet it was all there after Liz came back from the dead, which already suggests different depths of emotional involvement.

Ilya’s repeated insistence to honor a pledge he made when he was 6 is the takeaway in “Rassvet”, imo. “My word is my bond” and “loyalty above all else” are still the most important guiding principles in Red’s life (both in business and personal relationships), and this is also what Ilya – or through Ilya, Dom – kept emphasizing as the only reason to help Kat. Treating a childhood promise as a serious, binding contract is a very Red thing, imo. How much actual “in love-ness” went with it remains to be seen since this is Dom’s version of the story and Red is clearly not happy w/ it.

But this signature compulsion is there in Red’s relationship w/ Liz, too. He promised her to keep her alive and safe, to give her the life she longs for, and he is not stopping until he succeeds but he also has his own agenda unfurling in the backdrop of their relationship. So he pledged himself to Liz, too. This compulsive aspect of the “lovesick puppy act” is what I think these two dynamics have in common, that’s why I said that Ilya’s behavior around Kat fits w/ how Red behaves today. This super intense loyalty to a select few stems from who Ilya/Red is as a person at his core, and it’s independent from romantic/sexual feelings but it’s easy to confuse/conflate the two, esp if one is young(er) and/or lonely like Ilya/Red was ~30 years ago.

And all this naturally brings something James once said to mind:

“I think in life, people have this confusion about love. We all want to fall in love so badly that we are almost willing to lie to ourselves, to force ourselves into believing that we are in love when we aren’t. It’s too bad, because in so doing, we cheapen it. I don’t think we recognize the depth of the emotion at all. It’s entirely transformative and we think of it as a blurb on a Hallmark card. When you’re in love, you can’t control it. It’s when you can’t take charge of what you feel, when you are completely powerless in the face of the emotion. When it happens, it happens in spite of you.” [x]

In “Rassvet” Ilya is, in fact, taking charge and Dom emphasizes this by calling him “the architect of this charade”. He gets himself transformed as part of a deliberate plan, a power move, he came up with and had to talk Kat into. Liz, however, is unintentionally yet inescapably transforming him in ways he is 100% unable to control, and she is transforming him back to who he used to be (a lá Beauty and the Beast). She tears right through every design he’s ever come up with, zigs when he zags, and lands him in the most insane situations he had no intention of ending up in (most recently: the execution chamber).

So the first part of the quote above feels more Ilya/Kat atm, and the last bit is 100% what I see when I look at Red and Liz’s relationship and, perhaps not by accident, that last bit is also what made it into actual canon dialog btw Red and Liz, and it’s been repeatedly stated how only Liz can render Red powerless and how she is his kryptonite. Liz.

So I don’t think Ilya/Red truly felt for Kat in the past what he – in spite of himself – ended up feeling for Liz in the present (true, all-consuming love). But he follows the same “my word is my bond” principle in both dynamics.

I can def see him being irritated by how Dom chose to reduce his relationship w/ Kat to some sanitized fairytale, but I still don’t think Dom believed that lying through his teeth was the way to dispense closure here. It’s Dom who warns Red at the end of S5 that Liz is never gonna stop digging for his true identity, then again tells him that she was gonna find out sooner or later anyway, so he did Red a favor by ripping off that band-aid. Liz was desperate to know Red’s real identity and Dom gave it up, hoping/thinking it would be a small price to pay for a way forward. Dom himself is sick and tired of secrets and hiding, living that way has cost him so much already and he knows nothing good ever comes from it, so I don’t think that heaping full-on lies on this issue was his go-to move here. I could be wrong, of course, but for now, I am rolling w/ “most of what Dom said he believes/assumes to be true but stuff was omitted that will end up re-framing things once they are revealed”.

But nothing (potentially) traumatizing was revealed here? things Red wanted to keep from Liz were revealed and he clearly did not like it or the way Dom chose to tell it, but “I know you used to be Ilya who made a huge sacrifice to protect my mother and me” is not quite in the same league as “I know you killed Sam” or “I know I killed my father” as far as devastating revelations go. I think Red’s reaction matched that + he was also still fuming and hurting from the confirmation of her most recent betrayal, so that’s also coloring his response and mood here, imo, making him so tightly wound that only a few twitches escape as he listens to her.

That smartass Popeye remark was not his immediate response, it’s not a response to “I know you’re Ilya”. It’s a deflection that comes when she – sensing an obvious hole in the story – starts questioning why he kept Reddington’s identity once the alleged reason of taking it on was satisfied. That’s when he says, “I am what I am. … Popeye the Sailor Man.” to avoid the topic bc – imo – now she is truly close to knowing everything and he needs to stall to figure out how to handle this entirely new playing field.

I think his reaction to her at the end of “Rassvet” is a unique mix – previous methods of (now half-hearted) deflection w/ an undercurrent of surprise, fear, anger, uncertainty + a touch of “you disappoint yet impress” he also voiced at the end of S5.

Hey, guys...This is the first fic that I’ve written I’m so sorry if it sucks...hehehe. btw my request is open if you have any fic request for marvel... request

I write fluff,smut, basically everything....

Word count: 1,807

“I don’t know Tony, I just don’t get it... what’s his problem really? Does he really hate me that bad? What did I even do?” I said while sitting on one of Tony’s table in his lab. He’s working on some updates for his suit on his holographic table, putting in some formulas and muttering words that I don’t understand.

“Lighten up sweet cheeks, Capcicle’s probably just having a life crisis right now. He’s like 100ish you know? Or maybe he’s just not getting enough of “it”. He said while making quotation mark gestures with his hand. “My best guess is that 100-year old virgin is just sexually frustrated.”

“He is definitely not a virgin, I mean... look at him. Yes, he can be annoying sometimes like...” I stood up, put my hand on my hips trying to imitate him. “Y/n do this. Y/n DON’T BE RECKLESS. Y/n YOU ARE NOT GOING. Y/n blah blah blah blah blah... it’s annoying but it’s kinda turning me on for some reason when he goes all cap like that.” I looked over at Tony and he’s rolling his eyes. Typical.

“And those bulging muscles and like those uniform, UH the stealth suit. I mean damn...” I sighed closing my eyes picturing Steve in that stealth uniform.

“Don’t drool on my lab. I’m warning you,” he said. Tony is surprisingly quiet during this whole conversation and it is very uncharacteristic for him to do.

“Shush Tony, and that ass though... That is America’s ass right there.”

“Y/n I’m kind of worried that you are having an episode of some kind. You walked in here ranting about how much you hate him and a couple seconds later you are drooling and daydreaming about his ass. Do you hate him or bang him? it’s really confusing. Don’t get me wrong, hate sex is awesome and all that bu- or maybe you are the one who’s actually sexually frustrated. When was the last time you get some?” and with that comment, I found a small piece of random metal and threw it at his head which he deflected. “TONY NO! My sexual life doesn’t have any effect what so ever in this conversation.”

“Hey! Don’t destroy anything in my lab!” he said rolling his eyes while picking up the metal that I threw. “Maybe you should just talk to him? Tell him about how you feel, cause that old grandpa still doesn’t know how to read a woman.”

“NO! Are you insane? Every time I walked up to him to talk about something that isn’t regarding work, he just walked away. And you know what frustrated me, even more, is that when we are in the same room he glances at me like he wanna say something, but when I caught him he just looked away.”

Tony was silent for a moment and said: “ You can do it right now?”

“Right now?” I asked.

Tony looked up and meet my eyes. “Yeah... He is standing right there, and he looks like he’s kinda stuck...Steve wait for a moment I’m gonna buzz you in.” I turned around, petrified. He was standing between the lab doors and the door to the hallway. A small space that Tony created to contain anything inside the lab in case something happens. He stood there holding a file that I guess was about the mission tomorrow with an unreadable expression on his face. As soon as Tony opens the door he just walked toward the hallway without even saying a word.

I looked over at Tony while getting off the table “ Thanks a lot, Tones” and ran after him. While I was running a thought made me stopped dead in my track. If I found him and had a chance to talk about what just happened, what am I even gonna say? Am I ready for that super awkward and embarrassing conversation? will I be able to accept the fact that I just ruined the relationship between me and Steve? I decided to just ignore this and retreat straight back to my room and get some rest before the mission tomorrow.

*the next day*

I woke up around 7 am which gives me 3 hours before the team and I leave for the mission. We are going to a small town in Russia where a HYDRA lab has been detected. From what we heard and know the lab has got its hand on some Chitauri technology.

I walked to the kitchen to get some breakfast and saw Steve, Bucky, and Thor already munching on their breakfast. Thor was the first one to notice me walking inside the kitchen. “Good Morning Lady Y/n.” Steve’s head spun around at the sound of my name. “Morning guys.” I tried to be cool and act like nothing happen. I make myself a cup of coffee and put a toast in the toaster. “So... you guys all set for the mission?” I asked while taking a sip of my coffee. “Yeah, I guess,” Bucky replied. Steve acted like I wasn’t even there. I moved over to sit next to Thor. “Y/n that stool is broken, don’t sit on it,” Bucky warned me. I groaned. I’m not sitting next to Steve like no. ABSOLUTELY NO. And I’m also too lazy to walk over to the other side, “Thor scoot over your chair a little.” Thor looked at me and did as I ask him to do. I placed my breakfast on the table and sat on his lap. Thor and I are pretty close like he’s actually my best friend so this type of stuff is normal between us.

Steve for the first time spoke up. “Are you gu- Are you two-fondueing?” he asked with his eyes still glued to his plate.

“Ohh, pal...” Bucky chuckled.

I decided to ignore his question and keep eating my breakfast, while Thor was to busy playing and doing weird shit to my hair. “You know lady Y/n some of the women in Asgard braid their hair this way,” he said while doing braids on my hair. “Do you think my hair would look good with it?” I asked him, clearly trying to get a reaction out of Steve. “You will look good in anything, even bald.” Steve suddenly stood up and left. “What’s up with grumpy grandpa?”

“You know what doll,” Bucky said.

While I was getting ready for the mission I ran into Steve. “Steve lo-” he cuts me off. “ I can’t talk right now Y/n we’re leaving in 30 minutes.” he continues doing stuff and trying to find little random things. “STEVE!” I stood in front of him blocking his way. “About the thing the other day. I just wanna say that I don’t hate you or anything an-”

“You know what, Tony was right. You are confusing. Yesterday you say all those things about me and this morning you did that with Thor. I don’t get you.” Steve said.

“Well, I’m not the one who acts like the other person is not in the room. You’ve been avoiding me always and all this time you acted like you hate me. And NOW YOU ARE MAD BECAUSE WHAT I DID? JUST SO YOU KNOW ME AND THOR ARE BEST FRIEND AND NOTHING IS GOING ON BETWEEN US.” I said and stormed out of the room.

The ride in the quinjet was awkward, to say the least. Steve sat on the farthest opposite side of where I was sitting. Natasha was talking to Bruce about the Lullaby and Thor well... Thor was asleep. Bucky was talking to Clint about a show that they both just discovered. Tony was doing something on his tablet. “Y/n you better not lose it again this time,” Tony said referring to the last mission where I lost control of my powers and cause a massive power outage because my power accidentally crushed one of the city power plants. “I know Tones,” I replied shortly.

When the plane landed, Steve tried to talk to me. “Y/n I-”

“Can’t talk now Steve, I’m busy.”

The fight was intense. Little did we know someone tipped them off that we are coming. After what felt like 30 minutes of consistent fights I heard Tony’s voice through the com. ”I’m in!” followed by cap’s voice. “Tony and Nat focus on taking and destroying whatever tech they have. The rest of us fight out here, keep them out of the facility.” I was fighting side by side Thor when I saw a huge tank coming towards him. I used my powers to crushed the tank and it exploded.

After Tony and Nat blew the lab we can finally breathe. I was finally able to relax for a bit.

But no one saw what happened a couple seconds later coming, a sound of a gunshot rang behind me and I felt pain on my stomach, it was a blur after that. I heard Thor screaming and electrocuting something behind me, and I fell to the snow. In seconds Thor was crouching next to me.

“We need to go Lady Y/N is hit.” He carried me and spin Mjolnir sending us flying towards the quinjet. Everyone was already there. Everything was blurry and I can only hear muffled panic voices. “Stay awake for me doll, please.” I can feel someone holding my hand and after that, I fell into the void of darkness.

Steve was sitting outside of the operating room, his suit still stained with blood. “Buck, I can’t lose her. I’m an idiot.” Bucky stood next to him silently. “I was so scared Buck, I feel like I’m the reason for all this. The reasons she’s bleeding to death in my arms while I carry her. Maybe she was distracted because of our problems. I can’t accept it if the last thing I did with her was fight Buck, I can’t.” Bucky puts a hand on his shoulder. “She’s strong, she’ll pull through Steve. Words of advice though, when she wakes up tell her straight away.”

*5 days later*

The first thing I saw when I woke up was a blinding white light, “damn am I dead?” I thought to myself. And then I heard a familiar voice, “Hey, doll. How are you feeling?” I turned to my left and saw Steve staring at me. “Hey...” I replied. “How long was I out for?” I asked him. I remember vaguely of what happened. I remember being shot and Thor carrying me to the quinjet. “5 days, you got shot in the abdomen sweetheart,” he said. “I was so worried. I thought I lost you.”

“it takes more than a shot to the abdomen to get rid of me cap.” I smiled at him.

“Listen Y/n I’m so Sorry I couldn’t say this earlier. I care about you. I’m sorry that I’ve been hard on you... I did that to avoid any of this from happening. I’m sorry I ran out of the lab. I was just in shock. I’m sorry.” he’s holding my hand and his eyes are watery.

He moved closer to me, leaned in closing the gap between us. I brace myself for the kiss that I’ve been waiting for soo long. His lips were grazing over mine and I closed my eyes when “Code Blue. She’s flatlining. Rogers that’s not how you give CPR.” I heard Tony’s voice and groan. Steve retreat back to his original position which is on the chair. The whole team walked in and asked me how I was while Bruce is checking my vitals.

“Well Y/n you need a little more rest, I can discharge you from the med wing and you can go back to your room. But no mission for a month alright? No hard physical ability, well you can be the guy in the chair.” He looked at me and smiled.

“Thank you, Bruce.” The team stayed in the room for probably about ten minutes asking me how I am and telling me stories of what had happened the last 5 days I was out until Steve subtly asking them to leave us alone.

“Guys, I think Y/n needs some rest.” He said.

“Right, guys we should go. What he meant was Y/n and he needs some time alone to finish the kiss they were about to have and maybe some...” Tony made a thrusting motion.

“Tony I just got shot.” I chuckled. When the rest of the team finally cleared the room Steve immediately hovered on top of me and gave me a kiss I’ve been dying to have. His lips were a little chapped but still soft, our lips moved together in sync until we heard cheering from outside the room. “Cap you are needed in the meeting room.” I heard Tony called out. “Give me a minute.” We laughed and continued kissing each other until we heard Tony. Again. “CAP!”

“Alright...Alright...” Steve sighed. “I’m gonna be back.” he gave me one last peck. And walked towards the door.

“That is America’s ass...” I sighed earning a chuckle from Steve.

FINALLY!!! My con recap is... long. And I’m wordy. And it’s long. BUT IT’S HERE! Below the cut for anyone who is crazy enough to read it all.

Friday:

By the time the weekend really got started, I had already had the chance to meet up with @lillpon Wednesday evening for a last-day-at-work happy hour and then again when she, @justmilah, and @fraddit came over to my place to hang out, watch Once, and put the totally last minute touches on my Tilly cosplay. (Also, BTW, yes I am using nicknames because 1) I figure it’s easier for people to follow along and 2) I don’t know how much some people want their real names to be attached to fellow crazies and sent into the ether.) We ended up venturing down to pick up the car from my father-in-law, and on the way found a meeting place for @queen-mabs-revenge to gather with us. Now, we couldn’t find her, kept checking to see where she might be, when LO, HERE COMETH A TINY ITALIAN IN A BIG MCFRIGGIN HAT. Yes, she was indeed sauntering down 8th Avenue in her Lt. Jones hat, which was probably the 18th weird thing most passing New Yorkers had seen in the two hours since they had woken up.

We then all tackle each other and me, @fraddit, @justmilah, and @queen-mabs-revenge continue on to meet my FIL for the car, where Mabs was super on board with helping him trek stuff from the trunk back to his apartment after seconds of meeting him. Such a polite. Without much ado, we make our way to the middle of friggin nowhere New Jersey, aided by the very comforting fact that Mabs navigates the way I need to be navigated to. Much thanks. Many appreciate. Wow.

Our first stop once we go around in circles a few times since driving in Whippany itself is a damn adventure was to meet up with @thesschesthair. While Mabs is confusing the front desk dude with her hat, Chesty over there gives us a call and I sneak out, lock eyes across the dingy parking lot of the Red Carpet Inn, by its derelict diner, and leap into her arms. She then comes over to attack Milah and Fraddit before properly grabbing Mabs so hard they were close to osmosis.

I’m not going to lie, it’s at this point through to Monday evening where things sort of blur. Mabs and Chesty requested rooms beside each other and GUESS WHAT. Yep, you guessed it, they had rooms that actually were connected by a door that was hidden behind Mabs’s oversized fridge. Oh! And there was a random toilet just hanging out outside their rooms. Because, why not? When Puh Pah has to go, he has to go. Also, it’s here that Mabs gives us all Alice-themed totes from Poundland (YES, LAUGH, IT’S GREAT) and then we do roundabouts again to get to the Marriott where the rest of us are staying.

Registration was a breeze, and then we collapse into the lounge area where we meet up with @theonceoverthinker and an already-registered Chesty, where she and I are off to the side making inappropriate jokes and then deciding it’s time to wine o’clock this con. Guys? The pub in the Marriott got some play by the Pirate Crew (thank you, @freifraufischer for dubbing us all as pirates), we tried their Poisoned Apple sangria, shot the shit, and then went about checking in and getting ourselves settled while at various points meeting up with @captregina, @lillpon, and @freifraufischer.

At some point (again because all is a blur) we went to Chris’s Q&A where I asked him a couple of questions and honestly blanked on most of the experience because OMFGITALKEDTOSMEE. Then Jared came on, was very much however you’d imagine Jared being, and I was still very much focused on Chris saying how much Smee would love Alice and knowing that Colin and Rose day was tomorrow.

Afterwards, we got autographs, where Mabs’s delightful totes came in handy and I had Gil, Chris, and Jared sign the back of the Alice tote. Gil was nice and I complimented Jared on how much him being open about anxiety meant to people, but it was Chris that, to me, was the MVP. He was incredibly personable, funny, and a total teddy bear. I asked him about the blooper he was in where it seemed like Smee was trying to convince Hook to not duel with Ahab (the one where Colin spat in his face) and Chris said he honestly forgot what was happening in that scene, but he would ask Colin. Still, the one thing he did remember was when he knelt down in front of Colin in the post-duel “Congratulations, Captain, you won!” scene, he split his pants. The camera was to his back, but his treasures were on full display in front of Colin.

I also asked Chris for a hug because, I mean, YOLO, and he obliged! Honestly, he’s a damn pumpkin and I adore him.

Now, there was karaoke night after this, but some of us were bad idea bears and decided to say “f--- this” and went into the pool with some sea salt gin Mabs had brought over. We’re super classy, guys.

...What happens at the pool, stays in the pool. :P

Saturday:

OMG COLIN AND ROSE DAY! COLIN AND ROSE DAY! COLIN AND ROSE DAY!

I was legit saying this and hopping up and down I don’t know how many times. I focused most of the morning trying to make sure I had myself together, getting my tights ripped just right, getting my hair done, venturing to @captregina’s room so I could do her hair (where I met @brave-lassie), doing her eyeliner, doing my makeup, meeting up with everyone, and trying to contain my feelings about COLIN AND ROSE DAY!!!

I missed most of the Wild Bunch Q&A in my efforts to get ready and in waiting for Rose’s photo ops. I lined up with Capt just by where the actors enter into the room they do the photo ops in and got my very first in-person look at Rose.

Guys.

GUYS.

That precious angel GLOWS. I cannot say enough how adorable and lovely she looks and is in person, but I will try my best. She’s insanely precious. Honestly, I was probably a walking hearteyes emoji. I try to keep my cool as I wait for her in line, where I’m set to get a picture with her than a shared picture with her and Capt, and the moment she sees me in my Tilly cosplay she exclaims, “NAILED IT!” Then, like a spastic idiot, I told her I couldn’t help myself since she’s my favorite, and she said, “You’re my favorite!” Bless her. She’s insanely personable and tilts her head to you, and is a personified cupcake.

After that, I brought Capt in for a shared picture with her, where we handed her my bunny mask and Rubik’s cube I had made with the help of Lill as we (plus Milah and Fraddit) had lounged on my couch Thursday night. She geeked out a bit over them, I asked her which one she wanted to hold, and she chose the Rubik’s cube, I held the mask, and Capt and I held a pillowcase she had gotten a while back that said, “We’re all mad here.”

Rapid fire they then did Colin and Chris photos followed by Colin and Rose, where all of us collectively lost our minds throughout. There are some pretty stellar ones people got with Colin and Chris, and then OMFG KNIGHTROOK.

Not going to lie, I kind of blanked on it a bit. I just remember saying “hi” to them both, taking a photo in the middle of them, and then ushering in PERFECT TACO HAT LT. JONES MCMABS in for the second photo, where I pulled a crazy face and she pulled that cheesy salute in that pic of him and Bernard.

Then was Rose’s Q&A, and as you can tell she’s still the embodiment of sunshine with a dash of silliness. I must have had a massive smile on my face the entire time in between bouts of laughter.

Before her panel ended, they called for Colin photos, which I needed to get to early because I had Rose’s meet and greet, but HELL NO WAS I MISSING ANY OF ROSE. Nope. So I stayed, then dashed out, and totally thought I’d be fine because…hey, I had already met and touched the man, how hard could this be?

BEING A NORMAL HUMAN AROUND HIM IS IMPOSSIBLE. I just hope I didn’t sound too much like an idiot when I said another hello and asked, “Do you mind if I give you a hug?”

Tired panda just opened his arms and we took a quick picture, and his face was SUPER CLOSE TO MINE and I didn’t know what to do with myself and suddenly that scruff was AGAINST MAH FACE. I think I entered a new plane of existence at some point but remembered I had feed and managed to use them to walk out and not completely venture to a new reality.

It was probably a good thing I didn’t have time to transcend to nirvana because ROSE’S MEET AND GREET WAS NEXT. It got off to a late start since Emilie was still in the room when we got up there, but I’d wait howmstever long for her.

SHE IS AN ANGEL. I mean, absolute, 100%, grade-A, undiluted angel. She makes an effort to engage with everyone and really make eye contact with you, speak to you for as much as she can, and is just naturally her sweet and funny self. She then took selfies with everyone, where I told her my name was “Carrie, like the movie” which is my default at Starbucks because then people know how to spell it. She fake scared and pretended like she was ducking her head and going to walk out, which we shared a laugh at before our picture.

I missed most of Karen David’s panel, but right afterward was COLIN!!! Tired panda did his best to wake up and be his silly, smartass self, bless his heart. I’m so glad he said he wished there were more to the KnightRook story because he feels like there’s more to explore with that and HARD AGREE, COL! Also massive, MASSIVE shoutout to Overthinker for her crazy awesome questions!!! You are indeed worthy of being his favorite!!! Also, props to @the-girl-in-the-band-tshirt for her original question about craft services. Dudes, the things we don’t think about!!! I need to try a grilled cheese with pickles now, that sounds AMAZING. OH! OH!!! AND HE DID THE WORM! AND SANG! How were we this #blessed?!?!

We then had a hot minute (or roughly 30) before KNIGHTROOK PANEL!!! Guys, those two and their dynamic will never not kill me. THOSE TWOOOOOOO!!!! HOW PERFECT ARE THEY?!?! I think their humor together is priceless and she’s like a damn coffee bean to him. It’s a good thing I like odd things because I CAN’T EVEN WITH THEM. (:smirk:) AS IF THAT WEREN’T ENOUGH he goes and kills us with his Millian answer and I see Mabs and Milah vibrating into the ether.

After that is almost immediately autographs, where they had us line up for Colin then head over to Rose. They tucked tired panda behind this black curtain, and Mabs, Capt, and I coordinated getting various things signed for us and others. When I told him something was for someone who had contributed to the Whitecaps charity, he replied, “Oh! Very good.” Then he got my spyglass and went all childishly curious, peeked inside the box, then raised his eyebrow and gave me a smirk.

Then it was off to see Rose, who was taking more time to talk to fans, which is understandable given the fact that Colin had a longer line and Rose also can’t seem to help herself. Chesty gave me her badge so I could get a second autograph, like a friggin champ, and I had Rose sign the spyglass and also had the title page of the manuscript I’ve written (I NEED TO FINISH EDITING IT) and told her it was a 1920s Alice in Wonderland retelling, and I thought having her sign it would be a good luck charm. She sounded super enthusiastic about it and wrote a long note for me on it, which I will for sure cherish forever!!!

OH! And on my way to get into the Rose line, I hear someone say my name and LO AND BEHOLD, IT’S @leiandcharles!!! HUZZAH!!! I probably sounded like a spaz because I was on a Colin and Rose high and was all over the place but she pretended to not be terrified of the insanity that was me… ANYWAY!

It was then time for dinner. With the pub PACKED TO THE GILLS, especially after there was a bomb scare at a nearby hotel so the people there had to come over to ours for a bit, a group of us went up to Capt’s room to hang out and get pizza. I’m probably going to blank on everyone that was in that room, but I do remember dragging Leia there, meeting @coaldustcanary, Overthinker kicking over my drink and being roasted about it by Chesty (still makes me giggle!), and generally being a nuisance with Capt, Mabs, and Milah while Fraddit, and Lill went off to introduce Chesty to Chipotle. It has since changed her life.

At some point we declare we should hang out at the pub again, and a group of us went to go shoot the shit until Mabs passed out right there in the booth (CALLIN’ YOU OUT, POPS!) and everyone was sufficiently either toasted or tired. Some of us then venture up to my room, and shenanigans ensued. THUS ENDETH COLIN AND ROSE DAY!

Sunday:

While I was sad this seemed like a less crazy day for us, I was also a bit relieved because hot DAMN was I tired after the day before. Still, we didn’t have much time to really collect ourselves because the Mills fam gold panel started at 10, so a group of us wandered down to breakfast.

We then get in to see Andrew, Lana, and Bex, where Lana and Bex were of course hysterical together, Andy looked cute, and you could feel the collective vibrating of all Regina and Zelena fans which was adorable. I mean, I love Regina, but there was some LOVE in that room from her Evil Regals. I do wish Andy had gotten a bit more attention or had been a bit more vocal, but it’s got to be hard to not just let Lana and Bex own the stage.

There was then a decent break before Bex’s panel. That woman, as you all likely know, is HYSTERICAL. She kept the room laughing through most of her panel, and you can see she has nothing but love for her fans and her costars.

After her panel, I don’t have anything I’m too fussed about until 2 (MILAH WAS ROBBED IN THAT VID CONTEST, BTW, JUST SAYING) and so some of us gather together for lunch in, you guessed it, the hotel pub! Dudes, our options were limited and it looked like a library and had loaded potato soup. What more do you want?

It’s then time to MEET LANA, where me, Mabs, and Capt try to strategically settle ourselves somewhere out of the way but close enough to the side door to get a good look at the queen as she walks in. And, DAMN, that woman is gorgeous! Me and Capt then leap into the line where she proceeds to get two very adorable photos done and then I get pulled in to get hugged by Lana (!!!!!!!!!) while Capt hugs her from the back. She was super sweet and patient the whole time with everyone, and you could really see how much she loves spending time with her fans.

We then decide some of us need shots because some of us (*cough* Capt *cough*) are about to pass out from being so near Her Majesty’s presence, and then we wander into the ballroom for Henry Squared’s panel. Andy was adorable, Jared was typical Jared. I’ll be honest, I don’t have anything from that panel that seems to stick out to me as a solid memory, though maybe that was the whiskey shot’s fault.

Then comes Lana’s panel and, once again, you can feel the energy of the Evil Regals in the room. For however silly Colin, Rose, and KnightRook panels are, HOLY DAMN Lana panels are just filled with all sorts of emotions! It was like a damn rollercoaster! I laughed, I teared up, I was generally all over the place. SO MANY FEELINGS, GUYS. It was delightful but also made me just desperately need to laugh about fart jokes with my fellow Colin heathens. WE DON’T KNOW EMOTIONS.

Sadly during the following break, it is time to say farewell to the spun sugar that is Lillpon. I console myself knowing I’ll see her again, but it’s depressingly others’ last time with her, but ONLY FOR NOW. Yes? Yes.

Next up is autos with Andrew and then Lana. Andrew was a sweetheart. I was standing next to Capt and Mabs, where we proceeded to tell him how great we thought he was in season 7 and how much that season and his performance in it meant to us and brought back some love for the show. He seemed genuinely touched and said it meant a lot to him to hear that. Bless that boy.

We then wait a bit for me, Capt, Mabs, and Milah to venture up for Lana’s autos. By the time we got to her, we had this whole strategic thing planned out where I’d bring up S7 Hooked Queen, Capt gets her Hooked Queen picture signed, and Mabs gets the word for Capt’s tattoo. Lana says she did expect when they started that she thought Hook and Regina were going to be a thing but alas. Oh! And Mabs tells her that they’ve got family from the same area of Sicily, where Lana proceeds to say they do kinda look alike, and it is now confirmed #fam.

With everything over, we head once again to, YOU GUESSED IT AGAIN, the hotel pub. Chesty and Fraddit have already settled in and eaten, and me, Mabs, Capt, Overthinker, and Milah get ourselves all ordered up where we both mourn the end of the weekend and still buzz from the high the last three days had given us. A series of more shenanigans ensues, and none of us are ready for the weekend to be over. I’m pretty sure we collectively tried to drag it out for as long as possible.

For one last hurrah, we then venture to the pool again and meet up with @reginamotherfuckingmills and @agntreginaskywalker, where we all debrief and collectively laugh about the weekend, in addition to getting all into our feels about how Swan Queen fans and Hook fans are being all chill and friendly with each other. WHO KNEW PEOPLE COULD HUMAN?!

It was a fantastic end to the weekend, and there were more days ahead that involved ridiculous conversations in the car (Thicc Lady and Pointy Boi! Is this Central Park?! etc), meeting Mabs’s ENTIRE FAMILY, hearing Chesty lose her mind several times, enjoying super Long Island experiences with them, Milah, Overthinker, and Fraddit, and so on. Some of us also went sailing on a tall boat later, where we hoisted the main sail and felt like proper pirates! Then there was just general hanging out, but I won’t bore you further with that.

Instead, I’ll bore you with shoutouts!

@lillpon DESCUSTANG!!! You’re such a damn delight. Both sharing a bed and hoisting the main sail with you was brilliant and I love you forever. YOU MET COLIN!!!

@queen-mabs-revenge What are words? I have none. And if I started I’d probably turn into a mess so FARTS BELLY PT CRUISER POINTY BOI FARTS! I’ll probably emotion at some point and send it to you in private and then go run off to watch bloopers or something to get back to some sort of state of normal.

@fraddit SEVEN?! WHAT’S IN THE BOX?! Resting judge face or no, you’re fantastic, I love you, and you’re forever welcome in my apartment! Or basically anywhere with me.

The anchor in their lives - Chapter 1

A/N: First of all, Thanks for 170 followers, that is CRAZY! I literally just reached 100 and now I’m almost at 200?! *mind blown* That’s just insane. Thank you, thank you thank yooouuu!! xxxx

Second of all, Here we go, guys! First chapter! I’m very excited about this series, but also nervous. I hope you like it.

( Btw, I feel like mentioning that Steve like totally looks like Cap in Infinity war because I am all about that look. And Bucky looks like him in Civil War, its not that important yet, but just to give you an idea. )

Summary: When two super soldiers lives get turned upside down, they move into an apartment in Brooklyn, trying to deal with their past and figure out their futures. So what happens when the apartment next door gets a new resident, one who has the potential to change their lives in ways they could never imagine.

The question is; Will they let her?

Chapter 1:

STEVE’S POV

"Gooodmooooorniiiiiiing New york ciiiiiity. Ready for another day? God, I am hyped up this morning my bros. Last night a little lady and I went to town and let me tell you how great she was in between the sheets if you know what I mean" He stops and basically snorts at his horrible joke. "I mean proper bed gymnastics my bros. Her tits were the biggest I have ever seen like they were humongous and bounc-" Steve grunts and reached for the damn alarm clock to turn it off, but missing it entirely and instead pushing it off the bedside table shutting off the man mid-sentence. Why on earth it had decided to tune into that horrible radio channel was beyond his comprehension, but honestly, he had no idea how to change it. So every morning he got woken up by the same annoyingly enthusiastic voice yapping on about yet another nightly encounter.

He grunts again and turns on his back, resting his hand on his chest. Resting for a few moments before sitting up and throwing the cover off his body, then getting up from the bed and stretching his long body before shuffling out into the bathroom to take a shower. After a nice warm shower, he gets dressed and walks out into the kitchen to make some coffee and breakfast. On his way, he looks over to Bucky's door trying to figure out whether he is awake or not. He can't hear him in there, so he figures he is probably out on the balcony.

He reaches the kitchen and starts preparing breakfast. After a few minutes of cutting fruit and making scrambled eggs, he hears a low, gravelly voice behind him. "Morning" Just the mere sound of his voice sends a shiver down Steve's back, and he turns around to face Bucky.

"Morning Buck, how did you sleep?" Steve greets him, already knowing the answer from hearing his screams all night, but he still felt compelled to ask him. Bucky shrugs and plants himself on a chair at the table. Steve doesn't say anything else and turns his focus back on the eggs and a peaceful silence falls over them. A few moments pass before Bucky breaks the silence.

"Do you have to go?" The hurt in Bucky's voice makes Steve's heart clench; he hates this part. This was a daily routine for them. Steve would get up and start making breakfast, then bucky would sit on a chair observing him, and he would ask him that heartwrenching question. Steve turns to face the brown-haired man who is sitting slumped over at the table, his eyes looking down at his flesh and metal hand in his lap. Bucky's whole body has shifted into the broken piece of a man that Steve is so used to seeing now. Although it still breaks his heart into a million pieces seeing him like this, so small and fragile like he could shatter any minute.

"Buck, you know I have to. We need the money" Bucky eyes swiftly meets his before looking down at this hands again. All Steve wants is to walk over to him and wrap his arms around him, but he knows Bucky won't let him. So he just has to stand there powerless to comfort him while his own heart, breaks in his chest.

"I know, but I just wish-"Bucky begins, but stops himself. Steve's hands itch to touch him, to give him any kind of comfort, but he settles with just telling him that it's going to be okay and that he will be home before he knows it. To which Bucky just nods and fiddles with his fingers. They eat in silence before Steve has to leave, leaving Bucky all alone in this huge apartment.

_______________ BUCKY’S POV.

As soon as Steve closes the door, the anxiety bubbles up inside of him. It roars inside him like a forest fire getting out of control, it eats up everything and burns it to a crisp, leaving him with the feeling of the crippling loneliness that has somehow settled in his bones. Steve leaves him here every day for hours, although he promised that he would never do so, yet he does so every morning. Bucky does know that he doesn't actually leave him and that he will be home again in a few hours, but still, he can't stop the feeling of abandonment from tearing through his guts.

So as every morning he starts walking around in circles for a while, hoping to settle his anxious nerves but as every day it doesn't help. The only comfort he can get is something he swore he wouldn't do again, but yet he does every day.

Bucky march around the apartment, hands clenched into fists as he tries to convince himself that he can handle this on his own.

"You've got this. He'll be home before you know it. Just relax" He mumbles to himself, hoping that if he just says it out loud enough times that he will eventually believe it.

Spoiler alert; He doesn't.

He stops just in front of the couch, staring at the spot where Steve usually sits. He can almost imagine him sitting there drawing in his little book.

The book resting on his knees, which he has pulled up to his chest, the stub of a pencil in his hand as he moves it around on the paper. His eyebrows scrunched together in a little frown as he focuses on the page in front of him. Chewing on his bottom lip, the pink lip turning a little redder as his teeth bite down on it. He can feel his nerves settling and a peace flooding his mind as he gets swallowed up in his fantasy.

That is until a loud bang pulls him out of his head and he instantly stiffens again. His breathing picks up, hands clenched and the machinery whirs inside his metal arm as if to prepare for an attack, but it never comes. His mind is racing, and all the memories come flooding in.

Him in the damn cold chair as scientists poke and prod him. The restraints that dig into his skin, holding him in place, as they start up the machine, the one that resets his memory. He can almost feel the metal pieces on his head and the stabbing pain in his temples as it erases everything that he once remembered.

He whimpers and his legs start moving on their own accord taking him to the place where he knows he feels safe.

He opens the door and walks into Steve's bedroom; he stops for a moment just staring at his bed. Then before he can stop himself, he falls down on top of it. Bunching the blanket in both of his hands, bringing the fabric up to his nose and inhaling the comforting scent of Steve. He rolls around on the bed wrapping himself in the sheet and blanket inhaling deeply. He smells like everything that is safe, a mix of fabric softener, a slight hint of sweat, a hint of his cologne and just the natural scent of Steve. It immediately calms him down, blowing out the fire burning inside him and quieting the haunted memories in his mind. This is where he stays the whole day promising himself that this is the last time. But he knows that it will happen all over again tomorrow.

Hey! So I know that you're the most famous person of the kabby fandom (and I love you btw) so there's something I need to tell you. I've seen a lot of people from the kabby fandom (which I am a part of it) getting mad whenever someone on twitter doesn't like Kane or Abby, saying that it's because they are ageist which I think is really annoying (like they start going off on them almost every time ) 1/2

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and if they don’t like a character it’s not necessarily bc they’re ageist. I think that this is the reason a lot of people don’t like us so (if you agree with me ofc) could you maybe pass the word? I love you btw you’re an amazing person and your ff are the best 😘 2/2

Okay. So.

There’s a lot to unpack here.

I have a lot of thoughts, some of which may notbe the thoughts you were hoping that I would have. I do want to thank you for your very sweet words, but I also want to address a few things about this askI find extremely frustrating, not with the intent of making you feel bad butbecause I think there are some big conversations here worth having in a broadercontext.

First and foremost, and this is something most ofyou have heard me reiterate many times, I am a strong advocate of peopleaddressing their problems with each other directly. If you saw someone on Twitter accuse someoneof being ageist and you disagree, that’s fair to say! Social media is a free and open exchange ofideas. Also, if you’re a member of theKabby fandom, and you witness another member of the Kabby fandom engaging inbad internet behavior, call them out! It’salways better for communities to go collect their own people when they crossthe line rather than expecting others to do it. If your fellow fan tweets something mean, call it out. We all need to do our part to shut that stuffdown and make the fandom a better place. But the right forum for that is to bring it up with the person whoactually said or did the thing you’re upset about, and not to bring it to acompletely unrelated party.

Which brings me to my second point: I’m extremelyuncomfortable being addressed as though I speak for the entirety of the Kabbyfandom. I don’t. No one person does. Fandoms are communities made of individualpeople who have shared interests, but there’s no hierarchy. I don’t want to bethe Bad Fandom Behavior Police. This is especially frustrating when I getasks where one member of the fandom comes to Kabby Mom about something anothermember of the fandom did … especially when it’s something I wasn’t part ofand didn’t witness.

And that, my dear Anon, is the big problem that I’mhaving with this request. I don’t haveany idea what incident you’re referring to, what was said, by whom, to whom, orwhat the context was. You’re asking meto agree with you that somebody was out of line, and that, quote, “that’s whypeople don’t like us.” But I can’t grantthat premise without knowing what you’re talking about.

(Also, by the way, I would urge you to let go ofspending too much time caring about whether other fandoms like us. I can assure you, most of them honestly probablyaren’t thinking about us that much.)

If I understand the situation correctly, and ifwe’re referring to a real incident and not a hypothetical, you’re saying that PersonA tweeted something negative about Kabby and Person B said “that’s ageist.” You, Anon, believe that Person A was not being ageist, that Person B overreacted,and that B is the one whose behavior is the problem. And that’s certainly one possibility. But the other possibility is that maybePerson A was being ageist but neither Person A nor you have recognizedit.

And I cannot make that determination for you,because you haven’t told me anything concrete, and I wasn’t there.

I am also a thirty-six-year-old woman in a fandomfull of teenagers and if you are not thirty-six then it is entirely possiblethat you and I are seeing the concept of ageism from two very different andincompatible points of view in the first place.

That being said, if you want my opinion, here is my opinion.

First, there really is no excuse for being a jerk onthe internet, no matter what you disagree about. There will always be people who love thingsyou hate and hate things you love and ship things you find incomprehensible andreject headcanons you treat as gospel, because we all fandom in our ownways. So if you’re asking me, shouldKabby shippers get a pass on being jerks to non-Kabby shippers just because I,personally, ship Kabby, my answer to that is, “of course not, that is insane.” Disagreement and discussion are always okay;Twitter is a public forum, and if someone voices an opinion, you get to haveyour own opinion about it. But being ajerk is never okay.

In general, I am a strong proponent of stayingin your lane. I’m a pretty ruthless curator of my Twitter and Tumblr feeds, soI don’t follow anyone who talks shit about Kane or Abby (I have a one-strikeblock policy with this), and I recommend this approach to everyone. Make your social media feed your happy place.

Now, there are lots of people in the fandom who don’tlike, or simply don’t care for, Kane and/or Abby. There are probably plenty of reasons forthis, and not, not every single one of these reasons is inherently ageist. HOWEVER!The fact that you did not see the comment in question as being ageist does not actually mean it was not ageistor that the person who called them out was wrong for doing so.

Ageism is hardwired into the very fabric of oursociety – like misogny and heterosexism and racism – and just like with thoseother -isms, most of the time when we serenely think that we are guiltless ofit, we are lying to ourselves. And that goes for internalized prejudices,too. This stuff is ingrained in us from birth. In general, the sameway I am inherently suspicious of white people saying “I AM ZERO PERCENTRACIST” and men saying “I AM THE MOST FEMINIST MAN TO EVER MAN”, I tend to takewith a grain of salt the words of people much younger than me talking about ageism in this fandom because I actually see it a lot.

And fam, we need to talk about the differencebetween fandom discourse about Abby and fandom discourse about Kane.

Now, your mileage may vary, but I will say thatin my personal experience, when I stumble upon someone who does like Abby but doesn’t likeKane, I agree that it frequently has its roots in reasons which are notinherently, automatically ageist. Ittends to be rooted rather clearly in plot. More often than not, they’re still tripping up over something he did in aprevious season that they can’t get past. (We should probably save the conversation about our fandom’s selectiveforgiveness problem for another time.) Theycan’t get past the Culling, or arresting/shocklashing/attempting to float Abby,or being too hard on Bellamy, or losing the election to Pike by choosing toally with the Grounders, or floating Aurora or Jake, or just in general being amega-dick in the pilot. And that’sfine! I mean I feel like you’re missingout by giving his four-season character development arc short shrift andignoring the way all the terrible things he’s done in the past shaped him intoa better person once he confronted them, but whatever! The point is that, you’re right, thatreasoning is not, in and of itself, inherently ageist. That’s not to say that there aren’t any fanswho straight-up just don’t like him because they think old guys are boring, forthe most part, when I see people dislike Kane, it’s a reaction to something that he did.

But we actually do need to talk about ageism andAbby in this fandom. Because it is a big fucking problem.

The problem with ageism and Abby is that moreoften than not, from what I’ve seen, when people dislike Abby, it’s a reactionto who and what she is. It is absolutely impossible to separate itfrom internalized misogyny and the way older women are systematically devaluedby our culture in ways that sometimes we can’t even see as ageist, because they’rejust hardwired into us.

Sure, every once in awhile you get an easy one,and someone whines on Twitter about “gross old person sex,” and then you canpoint to it very clearly, and nobody will dispute that we’re talking aboutageism here. But it’s often so muchmurkier than that. Ageism can look likea lot of different things, many of which you’ll believe are completelyunrelated.

Ageism can look like fans who show up in thecomments of the writers’ room Twitter and Instagram when they post pictures ofthe adults to say “nobody cares about them, post [whoever I personally stan themost] instead.”

Ageism can look like gifset after gifset featuring “leading ladies of The 100″ where they include Fox and Maya and Charlotte, but not Abby (who has second billing in the cast after Clarke).

Ageism can look like a blanket refusal, under inany situation where Clarke and Abby are at odds, to grant that Abby might havea point, even when the narrative is clearlytelling us that Clarke is the character at fault. The tendency within thisfandom for young girls who closely identify with Clarke to graft their own momfrustrations onto Abby is virtually never-ending, and it can be hard to sift throughthe the complex intersection of ageism and misogyny that makes it impossiblefor them not to see mothers as human beings who are interesting, who are wise,who are right, who know things their children do not, who are sexual, who areallowed to make mistakes, who deserve screen time and plot agency, who are justas vital to the story as the teenagers.

Butall squares are rectangles, even if not all rectangles are squares. By which I mean that, contained within thegroup of people who don’t ship Kabby, there is a lot of ageism, just as,contained within the group of people who hate Bellamy, there’s a lot ofproblematic racial shit, and it means we need to have a clearer understandingof where those lines are so that we recognize the ugly stuff when it shows upon our timeline and call it out when we see it.
