He's doing great!!!

I was honestly worried for a bit, cause he was SO sluggish and droopy, and had little pin holes at the ends of his fins, but he's zoomy and curious and he's actually starting to show a bit if pigmentation! Kind of a yellowish tinge in the body, with streaks of pale blue/yellow showing up in the fins? The totally transparent bits are gaining some substance as well.

He still seems to enjoy crawling under his plants and poking at roots, though I might lower the water a bit and get more tall plants and varied levels to explore because apparently he can jump after things like an overexcited toddler- but otherwise, he's been super chill!!

Like my previous boy, though, he does seem kinda picky about food- I've tried three of the four types of betta food I have in the pantry and he seems pretty exclusively inclined towards rehydrated blood worms and frozen blood worms. Might see how he feels about a bit of mashed peas for variety but idk

I am just so in awe of this post and I haven't stopped thinking about it since I took this screenshot a couple days ago. Because I realize this is the unstated assumption behind a lot of us politics posting on the internet already (that us politics are more important/real than anything happening in the rest of the world), but I still can't imagine explicitly typing out that threatening to annex your neighbours or participating in a campaign of literal ethnic cleansing in Gaza are distractions from us federal employees being fired or whatever the fuck is going on with elon musk, and not starting to smell that your head is entirely up your own asshole.

Filipino workers who harvest bird's nests, risking their lives to reach the caves in high cliffs where they are found, and making maybe $600 for the entire season. The ENTIRE SEASON. Like 5-6 months and they make 600 whole dollars

Factory worker processing coconuts in Sri Lanka, hand-peeling literally thousands of coconuts per shift, and they make $10 a day. The workers who risk their asses climbing the trees to harvest the coconuts? Five dollars a day

It's disgusting. It's criminal

We rely on these folks for the food we need for interesting and nutritious diets and they get paid next to nothing. It's fucking heinous
