achilles and patroclus; he is half of my soul as the poets say.
[original text in post: When you took Patroclus from Achilles— is this what he felt? When he saw him lifeless and pale and unmoving in another soldier's arms as they delivered the very reason he was here on earth—did he feel the ground move from under him? Did he feel time cease? Did he feel the way I do now? Out of breath, out of life, out of time, out of love. When you took his person, did he also want to dig a hell of his own?]

buddie poetry event! (911 hiatus version)📜✒️
hi! i'm @heartbeatdiaz and i love, love reading poetry and writing silly little poems myself! especially about these two gay firefighters. so, i thought it'd be fun to make a mini event for all poetry authors in the fandom.
the idea is, here's a list of 20 prompts for whatever day you like during hiatus as long as is from the 15 of august to the last day of october (you don't have to write for all of them— just if the inspiration strikes!) feel free to pick and choose whichever prompt brings you joy! and interpret it however you like! this is to celebrate creativity, after all.
these are the prompts!
(some extras!)
you can combine your poem with edit/gifset if you please or ask someone else to make an edit/gifset/drawing to compliment your piece.
there will be no signs ups! just tag the blog and use the #poemsbybuddie and i'll reblog your creation here!
your poem can be nsfw but make sure it's tagged properly
if you have any doubt or question, send an ask here or message the blog or me directly at @heartbeatdiaz

Buddie hiatus poetry event
Prompt 7 - years from now
Thirst - an original poem by me
You can find my other Buddie poetry here
Full poem for easier reading under the cut
And just in case
there is no water in the future
I look at you
and drink it all in
Your bright laughter
Your silly smile
Your shining eyes
And as I feel her hand on my thigh
I wonder
If years from now
I will have died of thirst

Fuck it Friday
Tagged by the outstanding @thekristen999 @rewritetheending - Thank you ❤️
Trying to use this long Easter weekend to get some rest; and finish the last scenes of the 6x12 ‘Sleep outside your door🚪’ Coda - so I took a leaf out of @alyxmastershipper book and tried a lil poetry…
-
It takes 8 minutes and 19 seconds for
The suns light to reach us.
Without it,
There would be no life on Earth
For the 3 minutes and 17 seconds it took
your heart to beat anew beneath my fist,
I learned which loss
Would kill me first.

and you feel your heart taking root in your body, like you’ve discovered something you didn’t even have a name for.

the first time you came to me with steel for hands; beautiful and tense, i loved you.
now you come back to me with wool as fingers; beautiful and known, i still love you.
we would collide and we would clash and we could diffuse every timer around, and all this time, i have loved you.
careful fingers prying my ribcage open and i would hand you the reigns anytime.
careful fingers brushing my hair over and i would have hand you my heart from the start.
you’ve had my back since day one.
and i hope you know i’ve had yours.
i love you.

the archer
a buddie poem
Some days I think I would prefer combat
For that I feel ready
For this, for you, I feel blind
I am used to the fight
Feels like I've been doing it
All my life
What if that's all I'll ever know?
Once I ran to it
Into the line of fire and smoke
Was it the fear?
Or was it the youth?
I don't blame her for leaving
When even I couldnt stay
I wouldn't go to combat for her
And for that I apologize
Life learned too late
But made too early
For me to understand it
But somehow I understand you
He blinded my vision
In the best way
The light guiding my life
Decisions made for me
For him
Leading me to you
And maybe you were
What he was looking for too
A protector
A guardian
In the many ways that I am
In the many ways I am not
I need him, and so too I need you
I would dig through the layers of the earth
Bare hands and nails against dirt
To get back to him
And imagine how just it is
That the first arms I fall into are yours
You are the first to catch me
To claw at me until you bring me back to life
I have held the cool metal of the gun in my hands
I have felt the burn of the bullets through my skin
My blood, or yours, running cold
Are you hurt?
I could feel the pain
but I could only see you
I have been shot down through fire
And now it's fire I contain
But it's this fire in me I'm afraid of
And the panic sets in
Invisible smoke
And I'm choking
I have spent years with bags under my eyes
To be enough for him
To be everything for him
And some days I wonder why I'm so tired
Some days I don't recognise my reflection
Some days I recoil
But you are like summer air
Filling my lungs
And allowing me to breathe
It feels like the first time
I am made of helium
And you have your fingers
Wrapped around my string
Keeping me on the ground
Keeping me endlessly tied to you
And I fear letting you in
Would scare you away
That I will lose the ability
To breathe
So I will take anything that you have
Just to be beside you
To feel your pulse beneath mine
I was not ready
When I was young
But I am older now
I will not run
I wear my conviction as a mask
And you see right through me
I can do this alone
I would do this alone, forever, for him
At least i would have
Until you

it's seems everyone is being inspired on this here saturday, @alyxmastershipper's beautiful poem and @jobairdxx's here have inspired me to write a little something something too
the way I see you
the way you see me
through me
to my core
our hearts
held up to the light
reflecting
refracting
mirrored
matched
you are a gentle face
a quiet place
to rest my bones
to be seen
to be known
by you
- to be known by you (original poetry)

@poemsbybuddie day 3: car drives
Your hands on the steering wheel, eyes on the road.
“Seatbelt,” you remind me.
I prefer it this way - you driving, me in the passenger seat.
It's one of the only times I can look at you, study your features.
I've learned the planes of your cheekbones, the angle of your jaw.
I've watched the laugh lines on your face grow and deepen over the years.
I've seen the beginnings of age written on your face and hands.
There is nothing more beautiful than a life lived, survival.
So you drive, and I look.
We talk and reminisce over the weeks, months, years that have passed.
It hasn't always been easy or safe or without close calls,
But it’s the best journey I never saw coming.
