Too early for Christmas? The Betty Cooper Cookies Paradox

Veronica’s annual Pembrooke Christmas Decoration Reveal has always been a source of great frustration for one Forsythe Pendleton Jones the third. Never have his principles been tested in such a savage way. After all, how can one mock the hostess’s extremely premature foray into the Christmas season (seriously though, who in their right mind starts decorating on the 2nd of November?!) when the buffet consists of Betty Cooper’s Very Best Selection of Christmas-themed Cookies?

There is a very small part in Jughead’s already sugar-addled brain that finds Betty’s amusement at his predicament suspicious but the shortbread Santas are melting in his mouth in the most delicious way demanding his full attention. He can get to the bottom of this later. To eat intelligently is an art form after all, and he is nothing if not an intelligent eater. Jughead makes sure to wiggle his eyebrows at Betty next time he licks his lips.

This was supposed to be a 10 chapter, 50k word fic. I have written Chapter 11 and THAT is the middle of this story. Chapter nine takes place over Christmas. Maybe things aren't so great in the world of Bughead and Varchie... Maybe a shared love of Japan and Manga speaks volumes. Also, sad things happen.

Archie explained a lot of the plays, especially on the replay so she could understand the formations better. But, as the third period continued, his attention to teaching wavered to non-existent. Veronica, barely watching, made a series of Popchats with inane filters like turning herself into a dog or a fish. 

Bored, huh? Jughead sent a reply to the abundance of bored pops. How do people watch this? Love of the game? What are you doing? Hanging out with Betty? Close… I’m at the Register hanging out with her parents. Why? 

“What?” He said with mock offense, looking around the room before peering at her directly. “Attending a Christmas party for city employees in a polyester covered banquet hall?” They both fought the smiles appearing on their faces. “It’s totally on my bucket list!” That cinched it. Laughter shook their shoulders as they let themselves finally acknowledge the absurdity in their lives.

Okay so here's a badly explained explanation of the gay meta rvd ending

so Louisa may Alcott wrote little women and she didn't want to make Jo end up with a man but her editors were like girl you have to so last chapter is a added piece of heteroseuxal propaganda purposes

Anyway in Dawson's creek last two eps are Dawson the author of Dawsons creek own tv show based of his own life that is also bizarre and weird and plot has a lot of little women girls endings happening like Polly's meg ending

Last ep we got the song tell me at the end of ep which was sung by sarosie Ronan aka jo march of the Greta gerwig little women and let's look at this

It's the same sentiment

Ok so in rvd series finale we are watching jug and Betty the authors of rvd(joey potter is also author in Dawson's creek) like visit the gang in like a Christmas carol esc dreamscape

so what's happening is we are Jug's novel version of the life of the Riverdale kids but this time it's slaps isn't bad or lazy like jugs first novel about the serpents

Betty and jug both have magazines something I presume is true in some way in the irl universe but jug makes Betty the main character because she's the only who like has her bad memories and she's a author and his platonic soulmate bla bla bla

So I think that irl bughead gay siblings probably said a lot of what is in the this ep but also Archie's poem is full of things that happened irl in rvd that are bad memories so clearly jughead or Betty had to write it

Betty who I've said like thirty times is also a rvd author saids a different version of jugs Riverdale's goodbye speech that is reminiscent of Archie's earlier poem

The polycule is something jug wouldn't directly be involved in a sexual manor(at least with Archie) irl he's got issues with his homosexuality but remember hes sees beronica as a part of himself so adding in beronica gay sex while still making it hetero sensationalized idea of sexuality via the polycule thing is a great solution also here's Jen from Dawson's creek words on their core four

She's calls it incestous so I highly doubt the polycule is like a good thing

Also the reason jarchie isn't really declared is because jarchie is Dawson and pacey and they already got they're gay ending in Dawson's Creek the white boys already got their ending (like in gay coded media history legacy etc)

The show is centered around obviously our authors but also Veronica our latina party girl from new York so the idea that beronica is confirmed but not jarchie because bless their hearts but Archie doesn't make poetry that's groundbreaking and just lacks emotional delveopment and jughead is pathetic but often times correct but primarily out of the necessity of childhood survival stragies and jug is obsessed with his man so naturally arch is portrayed as the bees knees

Sidenote:if you wanted to you could breakdown every detail that's close to what happened irl or is something jug is extrapolating on in his novel for example we know Cheryl is painter and so Jughead gives her a career as painter

Anyway tldr it's Louisa may Alcott core gay

Hey love, I'm reading A Merry Little Retail Christmas again and I love how realistic it is. I love how they take their key holder positions seriously, and I love how they strive to do well at their jobs for the sake of their co-workers' economic survival. I love their realistic NYC homes, I love their 1.5 days off, I love their long hours. I love the reality of these upscale stores that cater to the rich, but not the really really rich, stores where there's a huge staff and a ton of expensive stuff, but the customers are that specific kind of wealth that don't have an island but probably season tickets to something sporty. Like they work for other people, instead of working for their wealth. I love it, it's great, I'm happy. They're so cute, working their shifts together. It's such a great winter read. Thanks so much for sharing.

Just for the Night, chapter 2/2

FitzSimmons, rated M, 7900 words Summary: Bringing home her cute new colleague for the night sounded like a good idea to Jemma Simmons. He's cute and a fantastic kisser, just what she needed to relieve the stress of spending Christmas with her whole family. She just hadn't planned that she would end up snowed in with her one-night stand AND her family for Christmas.

Once more, happy Christmas Libby <3 "I'm so sorry, they weren't supposed to be here until much later!" she whispered as she closed the door behind herself and leaned back against it as if someone might burst through it anytime. "I know, you said so but I bet they wanted to avoid--" "The snow, yeah. My mum tried to call but my phone was in the living room. I probably wouldn't have heard it anyway, I slept like the dead last night." Fitz smiled at that and there was something so sweet in a way that she didn't tell him the orgasms weren't the only responsible. Even though he'd greatly contributed to the short-lived state of relaxation she'd felt that morning, she'd been exhausted for weeks. "Anyway, the road's closed so--" His lips pressed against hers softly, taking her by surprise. She was busy panicking about the whole situation, how dare he interrupted her like that? But then, his arms wrapped around her waist, impossibly warm, and Jemma melted into the embrace with a slight whine. Maybe she should have gone and talked to him weeks ago. She might have brought him home to her London flat and gotten the opportunity to enjoy his affection longer without being interrupted in the worst possible way. "Good morning," he said, eyes and tone equally soft when he pulled back.

It Was All Make-Believe

FitzSimmons, rated T, 2609 words (for now) Chapter 1/6 @libbyweasley​ and I are very excited to finally start posting this fic we've been working on for months based on Libby's original idea. The fic is all written and a new chapter will be posted every week. I've written three chapters from Jemma's POV and Libby has written all chapters from Fitz's POV. Hope you enjoy :) Summary: Fitz and Jemma go undercover as a couple and discover it isn’t as difficult as they’d thought it would be. But what happens when those feelings become a little too real? Season 1 AU They all moved to the briefing room, May and Ward looking as awake and ready as ever. Fitz, not so much.

"Didn't even have time for breakfast," he grumbled as he took his place next to Jemma. "Why do these always have to be so early?" Jemma shook her head and pressed the second mug of tea she was holding into his hand. "Oh thank you." He took a sip and his face turned a little less grumpy for a second. "Maybe the problem is that you stayed up working in the lab so late," Jemma pointed out and he huffed. "You're one to talk!" "But I can function on five hours of sleep, you obviously can't." If his still only half open eyes and messy curls weren't enough to prove her point, Jemma reached out to straighten his collar. "That's because he's still growing!" Skye tousled his hair as she walked past him to take her place in the briefing room.

~ 3 ships: It’s weird, but Bughead is really my first and only “real” ship. I’ve definitely liked (and disliked) other ships, but don’t give them much thought outside of watching/reading the show/book.

~ first ever ship: Again, Bughead is the only one I’ve ever felt compelled to post about, discuss or read/write for (I’d previously just read whatever fics looked interesting without concern for ships). 

~ last song: Not sure if it counts, but I’m currently learning to play Listz’s Consolation No 3, so it’s technically the last piece of music I heard (and it’s pretty much seared into my brain at this point).

~ last movie: "Glass Onion” and “El Camino.” I watched both recently, but forget which one came last. 

~ currently reading: I got “City of Quartz,” by Mike Davis for Christmas and it’s next on my list of things to read.

~ currently watching: I’ve been rewatching “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul” (hence the “El Camino” watch) now that the latter has concluded. It’s such a treat (hooray for great writing and continuity!).

~ currently consuming: Mt. Dew (I loathe coffee, don’t judge me 🙂).

2022 Fanfiction Reading Challenge

Happy December, my friends! As of this morning, I have finished all three categories Regular/Hard/Extreme) of the @fanfic-reading-challenge ​- and let me tell you - I feel super accomplished. It's a fun challenge. If you're interested in fanfiction challenges, I bet next year's will be just as awesome. Lots of fun pairings explored and SO many great stories.

I also read my 1000 story of the year yesterday - one of my favourites (While Time Serves by @thepointoftheneedle​) for fic number 1000. It’s wonderful. Go read it. In fact, I did my annual reread of most of Needle’s stories. You should too. And you should comment because I get embarrassed leaving new comments right under one of my older comments.😆

Anyway - the holidays are almost upon us. I hope you’re all able to be rested and find joy in whatever holiday you celebrate. I’m going to be reccing a Christmas themed fic every day until Christmas - so keep your eyes open for those. Whenever possible, I am sharing the post the author made - so they can see the reblogs.

Because I’ll be posting so many through December, I’ll only post a few recs that I read this month.
