sorry if this has been asked/mentioned before but do you have any plans for involving mr saltarian in the jukebox musical? i know hes a newer character but i was thinking about it this morning and realized i don’t think i’ve seen him mentioned in your posts about the musical and am curious :-)

The short (probably disappointing) answer is that I don't, currently. I wrote the bulk of the musical during the Prequelle era and, even though it uses almost all (probably, by the time I have it all hammered out, actually all) of Impera, the end of it was always meant to cover mostly just that era and Copia's ascension to power. So neither Sunshine nor Mr. Saltarian appear in the current drafts that (barely) exist.

That being said, I have already stretched the ending a bit to cover some more recent shenanigans, like the recent ill use of Nihil in "Miasma". And I know my end as it is currently planned does not quite fit the way things are actually going NOW. So more changes may eventually come, both to how much of current events get covered AND to fitting Saltarian in where (I think) it would make sense, since I do see him as someone who has been around in the Church for probably as long as Sister has, if not born into it.

This is my entry for @ghostbcfandomevents 2022 Ghost Gift Exchange! I was matched with @bunnielav and their request was old Sister Imperator / Papa Nihil being sweet together and doing old people in love shit! I saw this as a great opportunity to draw attention to old age and all the great things that can still happen at that age, because old bodies are so often overlooked and ignored in fandoms and they deserve better. This was a great opportunity to write something that’s very much outside of my usual wheelhouse. I thank everyone involved in this secret santa / gift exchange! ❤️

I CANNOT WAIT TO SHARE MORE OF IT, EVENTUALLY. I've been working on it almost every year for NaNoWriMo since 2019 and I made the mistake in 2020 of thinking it probably needed to be switched into first-person/present tense and I immensely regret having wasted so much of November 2020 doing that, only to not even finish it due to other circumstances. I feel like here's a lot I need to rework AGAIN and take it right back into limited third-person (but possibly still present tense), but some day soon I think there will be enough of it that's written well enough that I can start posting snippets.

Honestly, at the end of the day, all I really want it to be is a series of snapshots I eventually commission because even if I never put all the words together, I still want everyone else to be able to enjoy Sister try to cook dinner her first night in the castle, while One, Two, and Three long-sniff over the table and thwap at the bowls she puts out for them. Or the conversation she has the night after what's the equivalent of the Wolf Attack scene that she has with One about how he and his brothers grew up as little stinkbeasts. Or, of course, any number of the "stay?" scenes I was referring to in the tags on that other post, which run the gamut from the cutest shit you've ever seen to maybe one of the most devastating things I've ever written. T__T

music anon is so right and they need to say it!!! at this point i don’t remember what’s canon and what’s not but in my heart, the band was Entirely imperator’s idea- like she had this shit in her head way before nihil even came into the picture. she wanted to change the church and make it something more than Just the church, draw more people in and make it something enjoyable while not dialing not on the satanism but adjusting to the modern culture!!! anyways anyways i came here to share this idea i’ve loved after seeing this pic(adding below for space). i feel like nihil’s ghouls were Insanely finicky because they were the first summoned and nihil/imperator hadn’t entirely figured out what their deal was? the ghouls were bound to them and helped them but at the same time they were still demons!! they’re just creatures fr so it took a lot of time sending and bringing back ghouls before they finally got the set amount for the band but of course. nothing ever goes the way it should. ghoul disappears the day before a ritual and they are Panicking because they don’t have time to find a local musician or summin a ghoul and teach them the set but then it clicks for nihil- his literal partner throughout the entire process is more than capable!! and this is really their only option so imperator reluctantly agrees because she’s not going to risk this being a potential money loss. they get her set up to play, dressed in some spare outfit and mask and things go smoothly because she knows the music like then back of her hand at this point. nihil however has absolutely NO chill and this man is stupid is fully prepared to pause the show so he can tell everyone that his wife is playing and that they need to pay more attention to her!!

That is absolutely one of my favourite pictures of her and one of the first pictures I saw when I was doing my original lore deep-dive, back in the day. She's just so cute.

And so is this idea!! One of the descriptors I always give to Sister when I'm trying to write a brief bio to encapsulate her and her duties is "Ghoul wrangler" and I'm cackling over how frustrating it must have been for her to not only be herding them like cats, but also trying to lead them in what it means to be a responsible and talented member of their band.

To an extent, too, I do agree that doing something musically inclined and modern was already on Sister's mind before Nihil came back into the picture, largely because of my "Cirice" headcanon and the fact that a subversive, dynamic musical project was the first way she ever saw Nihil, so that was one of the things she fixated on for her list of ways to improve and bring fresh blood to the Church.

And while I said I don't really think of her as being (naturally) musically inclined, I do think of her as a witch and who's to say that she couldn't give herself a skill or two (even if just temporarily or sporadically) through magic? Or through demonic assistance! The Ghoulettes are obviously very musically inclined and they could also definitely help out in that regard!!

okay but hear me out: ‘the loneliest’ by måneskin as a imperator/nihil song. just found out about it like five minutes ago but the lyrics are So them

GOSH, I love Måneskin and this song is no exception.

This song has a note of finality to it that would otherwise suggest more endgame, but I'm imagining it fitting in best during the period of time between Nihil becoming antipope and probably right around the time Copia was conceived.

In my forever WIP theoretical Jukebox Musical, there's a long period of time in which Nihil and Sister are kept apart due to archaic Church Rules, while the Clergy makes efforts to breed him with other "better behaved" Sisters Of Sin for heirs and they're under the mistaken impression that this is also what the other one wants because actually they're more in love with the Church than each other. (Which is, naturally, false, but A Series Of Events lead her to believe he's become invested in the wanton excess that traditionally comes with the antipapacy and he's led to believe she authorized and facilitated all of it.)

As such, I have very strong imagery of both of them lying face up in their respective beds, tearfully disassociating, intercut with a few coherent moments from Nihil while he writes this as a song - before, of course, they both discover (separately) that they've been manipulated into letting this go on for as long as it did and Decide To Do Something About It. ♥

OMG bless, first of all, thank you for reading it. ♥ I just couldn't live in the world where anyone was trying to pretend like good head and good weed could not be peak romance for two people who need both so bad.

Secondly, ABSOLUTELY they can both still blaze it together. It's probably even more transcendent than it has been in alive!Nihil times past because there's the added element of whatever Nihil's ghost vibes are that get infused into the haze/smoke/anything they are both inhaling. For Sister, that's special af because all she ever wants is to be part of him, have him be part of her. For all that to mix together is an absolutely immaculate experience for both of them.

The only trouble is that sometimes, Nihil's ghost is not at home, thanks to someone's need to drag his poor body around on tour. But know that once he's back and settled, they are all about creating the most comfortable, interwoven, relaxed vibes they possibly can.

I know I've written about it somewhere before, but it was one of the first things I noticed about their relationship in the Prequelle chapters - like I think the idea is supposed to be that he's the one constantly horndogging about her, what with all the fantasy-vision of her younger self, but actually?? She is almost always the one who initiates the horniness??

He's just so dumb and she loves him so much and every day, she's that meme that's like, "I can't believe I'm gonna fuck Nihil," and the Ghoulettes are like, "Sister, you don't have to," and she's like, "NO, I'M GONNA," ripping buttons on her blouse and tripping as she tries to scramble out of her pantyhose.

i know nothing about tma and certainly not enough to associate any of it with ghost But. a while ago i saw this lovely drawing of agnes to mary on a cross along with a monologue that i assume is from the actual podcast! i’ve had it saved because even though i don’t know what the hell is going on, the monologue is just so ough makes me crazy. i know it isn’t really related to what you posted but the moac clicked my brain and i associated it with that :-)

OH YES. The monologue is about Agnes within the podcast, narrated by the main character. AND THIS IS BEAUTIFUL, thank you for sharing.

Agnes Montague is like THE Christ figure of The Desolation - devastating fire/heat, wanton destruction, pain, and scorched earth - and she was forced into being its messiah, despite not really being all in on that. A wonderful character, with interesting affects on several aspects of the story, as a whole and as a concept, despite never appearing outside of the statements.

(Also not to mention, the Desolation is my number one fav Fear, and the Fear Sister thought she was supposed to be most aligned with in her youth. Alas, that was not the case, despite her propensity for the kind of magic otherwise associated with it.)

do you have thoughts and/or feelings on the haunted mansion movie remake?

I am very not hopeful. Jamie Lee Curtis as Mme. Leota will probably be a delight and there are a couple other performers in it I enjoy, but a) fucking Jared Leto and b) it's still not the Guillermo Del Toro version that's been hinted towards for ages.

I'm concerned it will be like the last one, with Eddie Murphy, that just kind of...made up its own story that was not really that in line with any of the actual various and sundry lore from the rides. There are so many characters and situations to choose from as is, I think, and to do something "original" would be an injustice.

And like, okay, I get I'm super biased because besides my (really good) Ghost AU, I also have a whole other plot I developed like ten-plus years ago about how to tell the story in a way that still involves modern characters getting thrust into the situation - largely, reincarnation for all the spirits being drawn back to the property - so like...probably nothing could really satisfy my wants.

But. IDK. Something could hit those buttons better than what I expect is about to happen.
