I finished I Wish You All The Best, which makes this the first time in many years that I finished a book in one day. I'll be sure to buy the Hungarian translation as soon as it's out, partly because this was a great book, partly for support for queer books, and partly because I'm very curious how they will handle all the pronouns in a non-gendered language.

this definitely goes on the list of books I'll reread at some point.

I think this narrative of “just get you an old man with $$$ and live happily ever after” is giving old school misogyny… I understand the sentiment. However, I reject it. I think women deserve to be absolutely ravished by a man that they are actually attracted to who is ALSO financially stable. At this point in my life, unless it’s earth shattering union with a man I’m head over heels for (and he’s more into me than I am him) then I literally do not want it. I’d rather provide for myself.

The conversation on straight trans people always seems to go "well, they're straight, so they must occupy the societal position of straightness" or "well, they don't occupy the societal position of straightness, so they're not really straight." And both of these perspectives are awful in different ways, because the reality is that straight trans people don't occupy the societal position of straightness, and we really are straight. Both of these are true, but people either insist on misgendering us and denying our straightness, or dismissing our lived experiences as people who exist outside of allocisheteronormative standards.
