Jellyfish question what are your thoughts on Stygiomedusa gigantea?

Oop, I meant to answer this earlier but I had to spend time with family so that was a nope ;w;

Anyways! I haven't really heard much about the Stygiomedusa gigantea since someone last sent me a post about its sighting, but I personally think it's a posterchild of jellyfish elegance.

Large, velvety... beige. It's pretty unique, though perhaps in different lighting conditions it'd look more red 🤔...?

I haven't done as much research on this species as I would've done for others, but that's my general impression of the jelly !!

I can’t articulate it, but it gets to me that, outside of Spock and I think Tuvok, being logical and regulating emotions isn’t something that Vulcans are shown to just endure, the same way they endure lower temperatures for other species, or higher oxygen for other species, or anything else that has to be incredibly uncomfortable at best to painful at worst that they just endure

The vibe I get from it is that a majority of Vulcans enjoy it, they like being logical, maybe they didn’t get a choice in being logical as kids, but unlike the select few like Sybok, they don’t seem to be resentful that they were raised like that at all

This isn’t just something they’re all forced to do now to prevent their emotions from causing their species’ end, dedicating themselves to logic brought them inner peace

There's just something soooooo incredibly nice about how he has a team that suits him, loves him, will do anything for him, gets along with him, gives him a decent car etc etc. I think even if Aston has slump periods, that's fine with me because I think ignoring those, everything he's gotten this year makes up for all those years of suffering with teams that didn't respect him and treat him well enough. Also its so irritating how so many people, especially on reddit, are SO sure he's going to turn his back on Aston. Don't you know they love him and he loves them???? when reading scripture or religious texts in my studies from a variety of religions (a not-insignificant part of my education has been religious studies) i can appreciate and understand the beauty and appeal of it and make sense of its internal logic system and worldview and feel that i'm picking up what it's putting down even if i don't necessarily identify with it on a personal level, but i gotta be honest i always feel like i'm missing something or losing my mind when i read christian texts like i don't get it and it doesn't make sense to me and nothing about the trinity makes sense to me and the entire worldview feels so harsh and terrifying and bleak for no reason and every time i've asked anyone in my family (on the christian side) to explain any of it to me like sincerely i just feel more baffled and whenever i've had to read passages of the new testament i dont get it at all like even abstractly i don't understand and it makes me feel crazy like what i'm looking at has to be completely different from what other people are seeing and i don't mean it in a reddit atheist smug asshole way like it's genuinely beyond my comprehension I Don't Get It and i don't think i ever will

dont say sorry we love the paragraphs!! tbh i cant stand a lot of md fanfics because of how they characterize uzi in particular, they just do not do her depth justice. and you're so right about the narration too. its so subtle but a lot of great fics go above and beyond to take narration from just describing the world to actually representing a characters perspective- literally and figuratively. hostile takeover is a masterclass in it tbh. its actually inspired me to try and get into writing for md because you need to be the content you want to see in the world ig- im starting with rp rn though because i find that to be the easiest way to get into a characters head, ya know? also your dollxn piece made me physically ill (positive). im shipping them now but exclusively in the way your fanart is framing it (also great song choice listening to it and staring at the art really sent me) - juzi anon

I think a good narration is like, an unspoken art when it comes to writing. I LOVE fics that make a point to have the characters thoughts be a part of the narration; It speaks volumes to how that person write the character themself and can even make for some really impactful dialog thats not even spoken. I think the biggest strength of Hostile Takeover (from the chapters I've read!) is its ability to make a character's narration show the subtle, unseen things about the characters themselves. (Which is why I love J's chapters so much, J puts up such a large persona that being able to read the thoughts she actually has is so!!! arugh!!!!!)

Also: I'm glad to see you taking an inspiration for writing, I've honestly thought many a time to force myself into writing fics just because theres so many ideas I have that I do not have the time or skill to illustrate lol. I actually started posting artwork because I wanted to see more fanart for my own rarepair!!! And I can understand the whole roleplaying thing (I haven't roleplayed canon characters since my.. *shudders* MMO days /j) I grew up on roleplaying and still do on occasion! (OCs I mean haha) I think its a great stepping stone to writing full blown chapters and stuff, all about practice or whatever!!

oh and: I'm glad you liked that piece lmao. N x Doll is one of those ships I thought about for 2 seconds and went "wait no I get it.". I've honestly thought about making more art of it just because its left such a impact on my skull. (ITs... the only enemies to lovers you could HAVE with N canonically w/o messing w/ his character and i am OBSESSED)

Tonight I bring you a very Soft audio of Paul singing Happy Birthday to (based on context I'm assuming) one of these kids at the Bread & Roses Music Festival Concert, October 3rd, 1981. The crowd joins in pretty quickly so we unfortunately don't have a full "Paul Sings Happy Birthday audio" (as far as I know??) because that would be really cool. A super wholesome listen nonetheless!

The Youtube channel that has the remainder of this performance uploaded describes it as a setlist of 11 songs yet they had only uploaded 10. So I did some digging and yeah, turns out this mysterious 11th song he performed was "Happy Birthday" and I'm not even mad about it.
